Fresco is only a short drive away from us so we end up going there pretty often. Every time I leave satisfied, not amazed but never unhappy. The most recent time we went was no different. The restaurant itself has ample parking and seating. I've never had trouble getting a table. While dark the restaurant is still inviting. I've enjoyed the wait staff, some are friendlier than others but overall I've ever had a bad experience. Their spicy olive oil with cheese is fantastic but I think the crusty bread they pair with it is a little too crusty. The soft drinks always come out in these tall and skinny glasses. While they may look fashionable there's only a few sips of the beverage itself. Regardless, I ordered the chicken and eggplant Napoleon. For $28 they're not giving the food away but the portion is very large and makes up for it. I asked for light red sauce, not sure if they gave it to me but no big deal. The chicken and eggplant were both delicious. Pasta was a little soft but not the worst I've had. I would definitely recommend this dish! read more

First time here and on Father's Day. 4:00 reservations to beat the crowds. The mozzarella triangles came out cold in center. Likely because restaurant just opened and perhaps the oil wasn't hot enough yet. They brought a new one and it was delicious. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The baked pasta with pink sauce was cheesy and delicious. I highly recommend. It's a huge portion so I had to tap out and bring the rest home. My son opted for the baked haddock and really enjoyed it. My husband ordered the chicken parm but said it was dry and tough. He is a tough crowd. I'm Italian and make an amazing chicken parm so always big shoes to fill. Our server was so kind and offered something else so he opted for the fish with a side of truffle fries. The truffle fries are basically steak fries with a side of truffle sauce. They're not hand cut. Likely frozen, just mediocre. You can skip these. Seafood stew was served at approximately 170°. I couldn't even touch it with my mouth for 3 minutes and even 10 minutes later I had to take a sip of water with each sip of the stew. Good tomatoes in base stew, but it lacked spices...no flavor. Overpriced menu for the quality you get. read more

This was the home of Ron's Spaghetti House when I was a kid. A few places in between, now is Frescos. Really nice job on the bar and outside seating area. The inside nice atmosphere kinda cozy. We were greeted by our excellent server Bob. So friendly I recommend asking for him. Busy Saturday night and he had many tables. I watched as he handled each table with his upmost attention and how warm and welcoming to his guests. Bob came and greeted us and explained it's a busy night but he'll bring us Italian bread. Bob came right back with two delicious baskets of warm Italian bread with a tasty garlic spread. Then our drinks arrived. Then our salads and more hot Italian bread. Our delicious tasty dinners arrived with more drinks and more soda refills. Lemon was brought to table for our water. Dinners were all delicious! Two free tiramisu were brought to our table for our birthday quests. Bob kept checking in on us and asking us if we need anything. The staff took pictures of our table. Drinks were full to the top ! Beautiful clean place! Bathroom was immaculate! The restaurant is cozy and warm. They even have a large place to sit outside. I usually visit all of their locations! We had a great meal with cousins Michael and Cheryl at Fresco Smithfield. It was a beautiful night so we sat outside. Weather was just perfect. Our waitress Lori was top notch - personable, professional and completely knowledgeable about the menu. We opted for their Monday night $49 dinner for two with a bottle of wine. There were multiple wine offerings, two salads, and a wide array of entrees to meet just about anyone's tastes. Being from RI but living in Florida we had a hankering for traditional Italian. We both had a Caesar salad along with Chicken and Eggplant Parmesan's. Wow. The salads were properly dressed with large shavings of cheese and a handmade crouton. The entrees were delicious. The sauce was spot on. The eggplant and chicken cooked perfectly with copious amounts of melted cheese. These entrees were enormous, even though you expect smaller portions on a special menu. Nope - huge! And my, my, my, the bread service was equally spectacular! Served with a spicy cheesy oil, seriously wow. I was a glutton when it came to that bread! Went today for the Sunday chicken dinner "mother cluckers" all you can eat chicken,pasta,salad homemade French fries. What a deal and sooo good! Everything was delicious,the chicken was fall off the bone tender and seasoned perfectly. What's not to like about French fries these won't disappoint pretty sure they're twice fried,very addictive! Pasta cooked perfect with a delicious red sauce but they do offer other options. For an additional 2.50 that's right 2.50 you can have tiramisu or homemade cookie with ice cream. It's the old Blackies! I want this place to succeed because I had my first date with my husband at Blackies. Looks totally different- very chic Italian restaurant now. They take reservations and plenty of parking. It was Mother's Day. I requested Italian. My husband delivered. We were seated very quickly (we took advantage of making a reservation) but then I think we were forgotten about. We sat at a booth that was under the stairs, all by ourselves. It took between 10-15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us and it wasn't our waitress it was another offering to get us menus. At the 15 minute mark bread was slid across the table. 17 minute mark we received water. Then a waitress apologized (thank you) and we just gave her the whole order because we were sure when we would see her again and I am glad we did because we didn't see her again until our food was delivered. Now lets talk about being under the stairs- you can hear anyone going up and down and one waited is EXTREMELY heavy footed. Even as he walked by our table it was like an elephant (not a big guy at all) was walking by. Next time- I don't want to be Harry Potter. The bread was fresh and the dipping sauce was heavy handed with cheese- I like it. I had chicken parm. Large size and it was good. It was even better as leftovers! My kids had the spaghetti and meatball (it was one HUGE meatball) and ravioli in vodka sauce. The vodka sauce was delicious! My husband kept raving over it (as he kept dipping into our daughters!) My friend and I both got sangria, I got red and she got white and they were both watered down not good at all we should have sent it back. The appetizers looked really good especially the prosciutto with Burrata the presentation was definitely A+ but it lacked taste it was just blah. When you first sit down they give you warm bread and oil. It was delicious I wanted to get more but I'm trying to be good! Menu is huge with lots of choices, we decided on calamari with the three sauces, grilled pizza and chicken parmigiana. Calamari was just ok one of the sauces (lemon garlic) was like water the other two were good. Grilled pizza was delicious came out hot and crispy but the dish it was served on wasn't fitting for a pizza. Lastly the chicken parmigiana came out very hot, the chicken was delicious however the sauce was VERY peppery, maybe a few less pepper shakes and it would be better, would've liked the pasta a little less cooked . Overall I was happy, definitely get another pizza in the future and try something new. read more

Yummy spot for a night out or date night. Not the cheapest but not most expensive. If you get dinner, aps and drinks, expect to spend about $100 or more bit so worth it! The food was very good, fresh and well made. Went out to celebrate a friends birthday and the service was amazing and our waiter was super nice and attentive. I was looking forward to my experience at Fresco in Smithfield as I have been to their other locations. The ambiance is nice but I find the others a bit more intimate. We were seated in middle of dining room which we liked and started our evening with ordering a bottle of wine. Our waitress even stated that it was a great choice. Indeed it was! We ordered our meatball app and before it arrived at the table we realized that our table was off balance when I lifted my foot off one of the legs. Until the moment, I didn't realize had bad the table was shaking when I lifted my foot. When meatball arrived we alerted waitress and she came back with a thin credit card looking piece of plastic and explained that floor is uneven and she usually checks for this problem in advance of her shift but a large party had been in and delayed things so that didn't happen. So, she said I'll move you to that table but I need bus boy to clean. He and she came right away. Well we waited and waited not knowing if we were supposed to move our dishes, wine and food from our old table. The bus boy came by and we said we are waiting for our things from that table. In the meantime our waitress was serving dessert and tea to another party while we waited at our new table while our meatball and beverages sat at our previous table. We watched her walk past us twice and a bus boy finally started moving our things over. We told her we needed a new appetizer and that was taking much too long for a meatball app. We decided to leave as it the entire experience and evening had already been ruined. WOW! Hands down BEST calamari I've ever had. Party of four. Entrees were excellently prepared and presented. Five stars for the kitchen. WOW! We waited over 30 minutes to get our cocktails!! We waited over an hour to get our meal. Not the server's fault, our entire section was seated at the same time. The hostess was overwhelmed. Never saw a manager, and I looked for one. This was a week night, not a weekend. WOW! So very noisy we never heard our waitress when she introduced herself so I can't commend her on keeping her cool. She handled her tables and customers the best she could. WOW! Everywhere is short staffed. If you don't have enough staff to properly serve this wonderful food perhaps you should limit your reservations to allow your staff to do their job and keep your customers happy. read more
