Their name doesn't lie. Fresh Catch was my favorite of the 4 times I had poke during my 5 days in Oahu. I had the Hawaiian blend and it just melts in your mouth. Parking lot and the place itself is small, so it's great for picking up to go. It also happened to be Valentine's Day and they were giving away a bottle of their sauce for free. When we came up to the counter they had already put majority of the poke away (mind you they close at 5.) We proceed to ask how come there's only a couple options and the lady goes "we are closing" in an extremely rude manor. My bf goes "you close at 5 don't you?" And she makes a scuff and gives us the dirtiest look ever and proceeds to say "well this is all I have" Mind you if that was all they had no problem! We still wanted a bowl ya know? Good spot for poke right with a decently-sized parking lot for the grab and go flow of ordering food. We missed the poke bowl time window so ordered poke by the pound with a side of 2 scoops of rice to make our own bowls to go. The shoyu poke was nicely marinated, and the ahi Hawaiian blend was lightly seasoned and allowed you to really taste the flavor of the tuna (recommend if you prefer a getting more of the taste of the fish). Just up the street from Leonard's bakery and Rainbow drive inn you can find Fresh Catch. This was our first time and we were not disappointed. All of the fish from the plates to the poke were chef's kiss. There are other meat dishes if you're not into seafood. They sell out fast or may have limited availability for certain plates, so call ahead. They were out of the chicken plate when we went. You can also order online for faster pick up. Parking is very limited, so plan for takeout with the 15min parking spots. read more

This is definitely a grab and go place; there's a total of 7 parking spots and no tables inside for seating. It was super busy at times but the workers are fast and efficient and they give out samples if you ask. Ordering was confusing at first but you can order by the scoop or pound if you know the specific amount you want. They charge market price for poke bowls so prices vary by item and portion; all my bowls cost ~$20 give or take a couple of dollars. Lunch in Kaimuki, Honolulu, Hawaii... My friend from Northern California was really enthusiastic about going to Fresh Catch. I looked it up and saw that she is The Duchess of Fresh Catch... Whaaat? I asked, "How many times have you been here and you don't even rent a car?!?!?" Answer: She catches the bus, walks past the vagrants, and eats outside (standing up) in the sunshine and humidity (because it's takeout only). Incredible. I drove her there this time because it was 88°F on a sunny March afternoon - and she is a tiny, sweet, cute gal. I don't want anything bad happening to her! Parking is free, and only for 15 minutes, but you can only enter the small, private lot from Harding Avenue. GPS took me around the block (one way street on that part of the block) so I wouldn't cross the barriers (traffic islands). Inside, Fresh Catch is clean, bright, spacious, and air conditioned well! I liked the simple decor! When it was ordering time, I thought: wow... Furikake Salmon must be so good... That's my friend's favorite... Lemme try it! She also ordered sides of Garlic Ahi poke and spicy ahi poke. Service was kind and old school. "Aunty", the cashier, was careful and calm. Our order of poke was ready right away. We waited a little while in the car until the rest of our order arrived at the takeout window. We left and ate elsewhere. I thought the Furikake Salmon was really good. It was tasty and moist! The EXTRA (ask for it) Furikake (mayonnaise is used to help the Furikake stick to the surface of the salmon) on the brown rice and salmon was a nice touch! I would go back if I was in the area. However... I want to check out the new location of Fresh Catch in Kaneohe. I'm watching the new building emerge on Kamehameha Highway... This place was super amazing and was on the stop of our island poke pilgrimage. They have so many varieties and it's all made with fresh, not previously frozen fish. Best of all, they welcome you to sample them! The poke here is so delicious! It's on a sauce-y saltier side so definitely get some rice with it. We got it with salad to avoid filling up so soon in our poke journey. We got the Kitchen sink poke and Hawaiian blend poke after much deliberation. We brought our poke bowl outside to eat and they waved us back to give us samples of their salmon poke that they just mixed it. The salmon was so buttery and the sauce was like a sweet shoyu. LOVE Fresh Catch! I always order their Furikake Salmon with brown rice ($16.99)! It's the best and freshest I've ever had! The salmon is always so moist! I also love their Spicy Ahi Poke! The shop is located in a weird corner. Limited parking spots out front. Ordering inside and pick up from the window outside. The staff here is always super friendly! They saw us trying to decide and asked us if we had any questions and even gave us samples! We got the Shoyu ahi and wasabi ahi. Salmon, tuna, octopus, white fish, you name it. We picked up a quarter pound of different types of poke to enjoy on the beach, with some tortilla chips & roasted seaweed. Love the food, hate the parking! This place is so busy for the few stalls that they have. It's take out only and they have changed serving size as well as some recipes over the last couple yrs. They got rid of their potato salad (which was excellent) and replaced it with runny Mac salad. One of my favorite meals during my visit to honolulu! This humble stop next to the H1 overpass boasts a nice selection of classic Hawaiian poke and also plate lunches. All amazing. I got the Teri salmon belly special which comes with two scoops of rice. This was a megadose of omega 3, heart friendly fish fatty goodness! If they have it on the specials board, get this! This spot is a gem and a must go when in Oahu. They changed locations over the years. Their new location unfortunately has limited parking and is not walking distance from the main Honolulu or tourist areas. Although you can get poke for slightly lower prices at a local market, the quality and flavor doesn't compare to Fresh Catch. My favorite item was the fried ahi, incredible flavor and so fresh! The food lives up to the name. One downside which you'll discover across every spot selling poke are the high market prices. My understanding is that this is driven by the high cost of buying the tuna. I've gone here 7 years ago and just recently and the same lady works behind the counter. Full of energy and enthusiasm. Poke dokey. This place was recommended to me by my daughter and I really had to go inside with her because she had to stop off and get her faves. And I absolutely have to agree with her I have found my faves on the inside as well. For those of you who don't know there are dozens of varieties of ways to prepare poke and fish. Basically it's small bites of the bites of raw fish that's marinated in seasonings and served with rice. It's very popular so at some point in your life you will probably know somebody that loves poke.. Now I can continue arm with my story It's up to the individual to decide what flavors and what flavors and fish they prefer. I like the more traditional stuff but once for a while I step out of my comfort zone and try something I don't normally try I don't normally try. The traditional might have soy sauce, or miso, or sesame. It has 3 locations one near Pearl City, one in Honolulu, and one in Kaniohe. The outside of the business is very stylized usually with the ocean and fish motif and the inside is very nautical. They also have an assortment of wonderful T shirts I wish would fit me or be at least in my size when I go in. They're popular, so the larger sizes go fast. At the locations they're usually a grab and go service and no sit down. But they offer beverages and a very very large selection of poke in the window to choose from.. There has to be over 20 maybe 30 types of poque offered. I ordered the traditional and the spicy shoyu with my usual usual scoop of fresh made rice. The 1st thing you recognize is the freshness of the fish. It's always bright doesn't have that fishy funky smell you know it's gonna be good it's nice and clean bright colors shiny. If you ever smell fish at a store and it smells fishy don't buy it. You want one that smells frethat smells fresh like a breeze over the water. They always select very high quality materials to make all their poke with. Seriously it's so good it literally melts in your mouth and the flavors are released and it makes you have such a happy face. Their reputation is totally based on freshness unfreshness and quality fish. And of course the recipes are very secret. But everyone that goes there buys a little extra to take home so they can have some more later. read more

This place is legit! They have a wide range of fish-related dishes, and also some local dishes like this Smoked Meat with Onions plate. It comes with 2 scoop rice and potato mac salad. The meat is super tasty and it's a generous portion for $14.99. I'm not typically a mac salad fan, but this one I enjoyed with the potato addition. I believe this is a take-out only place right now. It's best to order online and pick up at the outside window. My food was ready in 20 min. Easy breezy. Service was eh. It appeared to be young kids working behind the pick up window and not much aloha, but whatevs. Also, good luck with the parking sitch. Their parking lot is super small and during peak hours, it's a cluster F. Go for the food and turn your head to the other stuff. The food is ono. RESTAURANT: Where to start? This place is so hard to find, because it is out of the way and underneath a freeway. But with that being said, I truly believe that Fresh Catch is a true hole in the wall GEM! The establishment itself was small on the inside, and it felt like a waiting room. The staff were very nice and welcoming. FOOD: My girlfriend and I got the spicy ahi katsu and seared ahi with aioli sauce. When I tell you this was the best fish I had my whole time in Hawaii, I'm not kidding. The ahi tuna melted in your mouth, and the flavor was sensational. We really enjoyed both the spicy ahi sauce and the aioli. They complimented the fish really well. The portion size was also really great for the price, as I was very full by the time I was done, and trust me I can eat. Overall I'd say that Fresh Catch is easily the best fish Ive had in Hawaii so far, and no one should be surprised as even Guy Fieri approved of this establishment. I can't wait to come back to this place next time I'm in Hawaii, and I recommend others to give them a chance as well read more

The poke quality here is unmatched to any other poke place I visited during my trip. I visited one highly rated Yelp poke restaurant and a local favorite spot in addition to Fresh catch. The quality of ahi at Fresh catch was the best I've ever had. The fish is buttery smooth and melts in your mouth. The Hawaiian Ahi flavor was also far superior to competitors. The service was also amazing. The person that helped us was very patient with us as we decided what we wanted to get. The store is pretty empty inside and didn't have any seating at the time of our visit but this wasn't a problem for us since we took the food to the beach. Good and bad, it makes it hard to make a selection We decided on the shoyo ahi poke, Smokey beef fried rice and the daily special Hurricane Ahi Katsu. Loved the Poke, rich buttery flavor was amazing!! The Hurricane Ahi Katsu was also incredible. Loved both orders. I just love visiting this place with well curated catch of the day and the variety of selection. The service is so personalized from food preparation to presentation.
