Love going here. I particularly go here for the meat. The butchers are always very helpful and friendly. There is a decent produce selection. There is also great fresh baked goods. Also a deli, salad bar, and sushi chef. In general there is a little bit of everything. It is also nice that there a bulk bins where you can buy as much or as little of nuts, candy, grains, flour, etc. as you want. Some of the food can be a little on the pricey side, but they offer a good selection of organic foods, and specialty items. However it is still cheaper than Whole foods. Usually I use the weekly ads to keep my grocery bill down. I think for the quality of meats and seafood the price is definitely reasonable. read more

This has been my go-to food store ever since it opened! It is like a less overwhelming and cheaper version of Whole Foods. All the employees are so sweet but in a genuine way. Not quite Trader Joe's status. The Fresh Thyme brand is particularly affordable and awesome quality. I came here really in hopes they would have Tings, made by the pirate's booty ppl, but nope. I guess I gotta order them online, cause no one seems to carry them, boo! anyway, the store was clean, it's kinda new, they have some good sale things, but I found it was kinda pricey. I priced out things I normally buy at Mariano's and whole foods and a lot of the items were more than whole foods, say what? yep. they did have bulk peanut butter and nutritional yeast cheaper than whole foods. I came here around 5pm and it was kinda empty, there were a couple of moms with screaming kids, and a few other ppl, only two cashiers I noticed. otherwise quiet. I love Fresh Thyme! It reminds me of my times living in Vegas and I would go to my favorite grocery store, Sprouts. Farmers Market is always warm and inviting. The bright colors of the store layout and produce makes it feel like an exciting place to be. Even their store brand products are great! I now live in Lakeview and am sad that there is not a Fresh Thyme closer to me. read more

My new go-to grocery store in the area! Fresh Thyme is spot on. A solid selection of organic foods, super friendly employees, and the perfect size (not too big, not too small). They also have a free piece of fruit for kids which makes shopping with my toddler much easier. I love this store, if I could give it 10 stars I would. As you walk in the door, you are greeted by every single employee that you encounter. They seem genuinely happy to greet you, ask if they can help you find anything and are always willing to go in the back if something is not on a shelf/case, etc. The store is not too big, not too small, has a good deli, butcher and prepared food section. They have a great selection of Organic items at a reasonable price. They have bulk bins like Whole Foods, but not WF prices :-) They have excellent sales, and even have a day where the prior week sale prices extend into the next! The cashiers are always friendly, ask if you found everything, need help loading your car and are genuinely nice people. The final plus, great music playing in the store! Got items delivered via PrimeNow and was very pleased to see the selection available and quality of the items. I bought meat, seafood, produce and fruit and it all looked nice and fresh. I like Fresh Thyme. A lot. The only reason it gets 4 starts instead of 5 is because their prepared food section doesn't hold a candle to Whole Foods. That being said, you can get many of the same items you'd get at WF at Fresh Thyme for a better price. They also have a MASSIVE vitamin section, if you're looking for any sort of natural supplement. Also, Fresh Thyme is the only other place besides WF I've been able to find my Guayaki Yerba Mate tea drink. Highly recommend! read more

I recently went to this grocery because I was shopping at Michaels and didn't want to make an extra stop to pick up food at Marianos. What a pleasant surprise this store is! Good wine selection with great prices, good cheeses, great bakery - all delicious and well priced. I will definitely come back here to do my weekly shopping. I was very excited to check this store out for their produce. I was very disappointed. They had little selection, pricey, and horrible quality. I had to throw away 3 peppers I bought that had mold on the inside. They looked fine when I picked them up. No bruising or discoloration and they felt fine, but we're full of mold. I have never experienced this in my life. I also had to throw away a lot of romaine lettuce that was going bad at the tips. I could not see this beforehand because the bag was hiding that fact. Regarding the prices they were a bit pricier than other places. I typically wouldn't mind too much if the quality was great. They were also out of cucumbers. For a store called Fresh Thyme Market you would think they would have amazing produce. Very disappointed Other than horrible quality the store overall was nice, clean, easy parking, and empty inside. They did have a great employee Fredrich I believe, who was very knowledgeable and willing to help. Unfortunately I will not be returning. read more

I did not care for this place at all. The prepared foods selection was limited, the produce OK but not great and the bakery items lousy. Prices were not horrible, no bargains but not like Whole Foods either. Worst of all the expensive sausages I bought (the factory sealed kind that typically expire months not days from purchase) were expired and shouldn't have been out for purchase. Too much stuff prepackaged in plastic. Not impressed with the meat, poultry or lunch meat. "Natural" does not mean humanely raised or organic. Tom's deodorant priced way higher than Trader Joe's or Woodmans. Many of their organic products can be purchased for dollars less per item at Woodmans and Woodman's has a bigger selection of Organics in most departments. Vitamins, supplements, etc. less expensive at Fruitful Yield. Produce (red leaf lettuce) started going bad within 2 days of purchase. They do have a few OK items. read more

This is less crowded alternative to whole foods.many vegetarian options. The soups are delicious. You can pick up meals to go here. Great parking. It's never crowded so very easy whereas whole foods is a madhouse. I like the frozen organic options many beauty products as well. I buy rare yogurts here like whole foods. read more

Has simply went downhill from first opening. It is difficult to get attention at the deli counter or the meat counter. I have also found the produce has gone downhill the last time I went in i actually had to tell them that several of the bags of clementines were rotten. I can't believe it. We bombed Fresh Thyme Market a month or so ago about some seasoned fish we bought that was incredibly salty. Someone at the seafood counter assured us that the ingredients come packaged from corporate HQ and that someone locally might have mis-measured the salt content. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and bought another order of pre-seasoned cod today. Once again it was so unbelievably salty and we could not finish the meal. FYI, we are not on a salt-free diet. We might add a touch of salt to everyday meals. However, this company is really suspect to us because they claim to offer healthy food. Off-the-chart sodium content is not a healthy alternative. If you care about what you eat, stick with Whole Foods. read more

Had to check out Fresh Thyme that just opened on Elston. Super friendly staff, great organic choices and fabulous prices in the seafood and meat department. Produce and fruit department were nicely organized and well displayed near the meat and seafood department. Good variety of Aura Cacia oils and knowledgeable employee who was able to answer all of my questions on the different oils and there uses. Of corse plenty of samples were being passed around from slices of pizza to muffins and ice cream! Fresh Thyme is now on my weekly shopping stops! Great prices, friendly staff and large parking lot. I like the bulk snacks, candy and nuts, it cuts down the waste of packaging. What I like best is their selection of smaller company brands that you don't see in most other grocery stores. Their to-go food is pretty good. The fresh juice is great. I buy a lot of the natural skincare products. The folks who work there are helpful and nice especially in their huge suppliment selection. I wish some of the produce was more fresh, I bought some fruit in a package only to find out it was rotten when I took it home. It would be nice if their bakery had gluten free options, but they do have some frozen stuff. It's not a huge store and it's easy to get in and out quick. read more

This is, hands down, my new favorite grocery store in the city. The deals are always spectacular (especially the ones on avocados). The bulk section is fantastic and expansive, including coffee, honey, oils, vinegars, and nut butters. I have completely phased out WF since I started coming here. The organic, gluten free, and natural products are well stocked and there is everything you could want to have. I am rarely unable to find what I'm looking for. It has upgraded the quality of what I keep in my pantry and fridge. I like the butcher counter a lot and the meat deals tend to be extremely competitive. I wish there were less "previously frozen" items in the fresh meat and seafood counters but we are in the MidWest... I wish there were more fresh seafood options though-similar to the counters at Whole Foods and Marianos. My chief complaint is that it is not as accessible now that there is so much construction right next door. I wish they'd open up more stores around the city. read more

It's not really a farmer's market, but more like an upscale Aldi -- lots of produce and grocery items that are purchased and then placed under a private label. The produce is good and surprisingly cheap for the quality; there's also a good deli section, and lots of healthy options. The groceries are a bit more limited, but the prices are still pretty good, and it's got a decent selection. I'm cool on all the medicinals, but they've got lots of 'em. Service seemed good. This isn't someplace I'd do my everyday shopping, but they've got more selection than Trader Joe's and better prices than Whole Foods, and it's always good to have another grocery store option in the area. read more

I love this grocery store! I used to go to trader joes but recently switched because this store is closer and has more selection. This store has great bread selections, pre-made meals and salads, fresh tuna poke, fresh pressed green and other juices, in house made peanut butter, honey and olive oils and a great fruit & veggie selection. I LOVE this place. I mean, I can't buy Diet Coke here (maybe it's a sign I shouldn't buy Diet Coke), but I can buy like a bajillion pounds of produce and meats and still spend 1/3 less than I would pretty much anywhere else (well, maybe not Trader Joes, but Fresh Thyme has better variety in produce). The quality of pretty much everything I have bought is good, parking is easy and everyone working there is generally really nice. It's during this time (national emergency) in which you can tell a lot about businesses and their owners/management. I recently went shopping, with full mask and gloves. I was not impressed or pleased with my experience. There were no wipes or sanitizer for customers to use during their experience. I was previously at another grocery store, and they had wipes available for the carts and hand sanitizer throughout the store, for customer use. Fresh Thyme had neither. There was absolutely no attempt from management to promote social distancing. There was no controlled entrance, 6 foot markers on the floors, one-way aisles or any other measures to promote safe distancing (all these measures were observed at other stores). The store is rather small, and was therefore very crowded with customers and staff. The produce section was like a deadly mosh-pit, it was a very high-risk situation. I had asked 2 staff members for assistance in finding an item. One staff member said "I have no idea" and walked away, while another staff member said "just look at the signs above the aisles." Needless to say, I was rather disappointed and will take my business elsewhere. read more

I have been to this store 3 times now in the past week and a half. Overall I was really impressed with the quality, selections and pricing. I am giving 3 stars because 2 of the 3 visits I have been double charged for items. The first time I was charged twice for a package of buns. I called the store and was told they would give me a credit. I went back a few days later and purchased some more groceries and was issued my credit at the register. That's fine mistakes happen, except on my 3rd visit I was again double charged for an item. This time I was charged for 2 red peppers when I only purchased one. I don't know if this is a lack of training or is being done intentionally. Most people do not check their receipts, but I check them every time when I get home. I normally shop at Jewel or Mariano's. I have occasionally been charged the wrong amount at Jewel because an item rings up wrong, but have never been charged twice for an item at any grocery store. On a positive note, the staff is very friendly, the store is not very busy and they have a lot of veggie and vegan items that I like. Some items are more expensive than WF or Mariano's, but there are a lot of items that are cheaper. read more

I love this grocery store! I have shopped at Fresh Thyme's when I have been out of town and always wished they were in Chicago. Great produce, great prices (way better than other grocers even on organic!). They have a good vegan selection though I wish a bit more ready to eat vegan options. I love their health and body section - such a fantastic selection. The best part is the staff is always really nice - a lost art of friendliness especially among market clerks. I love going to Fresh Thyme, but today they get one star. One of their check-out staff, LaTonya, could use re-training in customer service. I had turkey breast that was leaking from the package and I asked her if she had some alcohol to wipe off the conveyor belt. She just said "no" and didn't want to hear any more about it. So many wonderful things about Fresh Thyme - maybe she's new or I just haven't been in her check-out before. But clearly, someone with "attitude" and lack of understanding of food safety should be re-trained. read more
