My buddy recommended this place as a spot for a lunch meet up. Meeting up here I didn't know what to think. I basically went in blind not looking up the Yelp. I was in the area wanting avocado toast and this place was nearby. Based on the name, I was not expecting it to also be an authentic Mexican restaurant but I was so happy it was. You'd think that it'd be hard for a place to pull off serving both acai bowls and Mexican food, as most places specialize in one or the other. However, this place nailed it ! I ordered the Funky Monkey Acai Bowl, and two mini carnita tacos. The tacos came in a cute to go tray for take-out, came with guac, pico de gallo, and a lime. The meat was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. The acai bowl included one of the peanut butter blended bases, and various fruits. It was delicious! The price for the small size was about the same as any other acai place, but included all natural fruits and was vegan friendly! The only downside I would say is that they didn't have one of those cup shaped to-go lids, only a flat one, causing the fruit to sink into the base by the time i got home. It still tasted excellent, just wasn't the same presentation wise after making it to-go. Although the prices are a little higher than most, it's always good to support a small family-owned business. Plus, it's probably the best Mexican food you'll be able to find in the Westminster area without having to drive too far. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend. I have been a loyal Freshco customer since this hole in the wall opened, and it has been my favorite for YEARS. Tonight, I learned that they are HORRIBLE. I ordered from GrubHub. The GrubHub driver left some of the order at the restaurant. When I asked him to grab the rest, (only one mile away), he drove away and left me with NO FOOD AT ALL. Of course, I assumed Freshco would help. I told them I could drive over and pick up the food if they would remake it, since I never received any of it... THEY FLATLY REFUSED. Then I asked if they could refund me for their portion of the GrubHub order, as the restaurant would be getting paid for my meal in full, and as a LOYAL AND LONGTIME neighbor, I thought they could help me at least with that. FLAT NO. They stated (erroneously) that they cannot refund their part due to their accounting system. I've been to Freshco when they first opened up, trying their juices and açaí bowls. They were good and refreshing during the summer months. I was intrigued how they expanded their menu to offer tacos and other food items. Ordered four different types of tacos, of course on Taco Tuesday! I was surprised how good they were. They don't skimp out on the protein. Couldn't even fold up my "mini" tacos. Also everything is FRESH - everything from the protein, tortillas, avocado, down to the lime wedges. I strongly dislike taco shops that chop up their protein and let it dry up. I enjoyed the carne asada and birria tacos a bit more than the fried fish tacos (likely because of the sauce on top). Grilled peppers and red salsa gave the tacos a nice kick. Mini tacos also had scoops of fresh avocado on top! Great value for your $. My wife and I were able to stuff ourselves (with leftovers) for less than $20. Carnitas tacos are in the fridge, so I can't attest to them. I'm very happy Freshco opened in the area. The strip mall needs a refresh, and Freshco was bold enough to start what-I-hope-to-be a major transformation. Will be back! read more

I had a birria taco & my mom had a carnitas taco. The tortilla was crisp and yummy, and the birria very tasty. But I felt like it was more drenched in grease than usual - and I realize birria tacos can be greasy especially with the consome... the carnitas meat was okay but something in that taco tasted a bit off! But what I didn't like is that they microwaved the cheese enchiladas I ordered for my son! I did see the cook take the styrofoam container out the microwave but didn't think much of it (thought it was something else) till we got home and the enchilada was stuck to the container!!!!
