10/10 Food, Service and Ambiance! My kids love this restaurant and I had never been. I had the day off so we arrived at happy hour. The happy hour deals are amazing on the most popular dishes! We will continue to dine here again and again!! The ceviche is my favorite and the wonton filling is soooo good!! Anything you order here is epic!

RESERVATIONS encouraged so you don't have to wait Why NEP? - Kei Concepts restaurants are pretty good in general - Vietnamese food is all delish Food 4/5 - Broccolini - Chicken Wings - Bun Bo Hue Dry Noodles - LOVE gotta eat it same day NOT as leftovers hahah - Pork Tomahawk - perfect char, tender, not too fatty and marinate nicely with a smokey flavor Service 4/5 Friendly service from the entire staff Ambience 4/5 Beautiful build out and ambience Parking 4/5 Decent size lot for ample parking

I reserved a table for my friend and me through Open Table and it was easy to modify times and such. I changed times about two times, haha, but it worked out, thankfully! The restaurant was lively for a random weekday. Friendly staff from beginning to end. My friend ordered the shrimp fried rice. I got sticky rice and creme brûlée iced coffee along with the shrimp salad appetizer to try. Food came out relatively fast. The food presentation looked appealing. I have to say the shrimp salad was delicious, crunchy, cold, with robust flavor. I could eat that on my own! My friends really liked it too. I didn't try her fried rice, but she said it was tasty. My sticky rice was also good with traditional Vietnamese flavors was what I expected from xoi. Creme brûlée coffee was very decadent. I drank half and saved other half for the next day. Overall we had a lovely experience. What made it extra nice was the fact that they brought out a an ice cream dessert for my friend with a candle and everything! It's truly the small gestures that make the overall experience IMO.

Hi Christopher, thanks for following up. The incident occurrd on Aug 3rd around 7:30PM. We were a party of 2. After spotting the snail, I showed it to the server. He took the plate and offered to remake, but we ended up cancelling the dish before the remade plate came up.

I came here for happy hour with my family. It's so cute inside! We got: - beer - lychee martini: this was refreshing and not too strong - chicken wings: I loved this! Great texture - seafood ceviche - shrimp garlic noodle - spicy wonton

I've been here but it's been about a year since I've been back. I came for breakfast around 9:30am on a Thursday. There was no wait and plenty of parking. Our server was nice and attentive. The restaurant is modern and beautiful. I got the mango sticky rice matcha drink and the filet mignon banh mi chao. The drink was tasty. I think it tastes best if you mix the mango with the matcha. The food was nice and hot and the eggs were cooked to perfection. It's the perfect complement with the banh mi as you dip the egg yolk, the sauce with onions, and most importantly the pate. I will definitely always order this every time I go!

my cousin who lives in OC always raves about places from this restaurant group called Kei Concepts, so i decided to check out this spot on the way home from Newport Beach. we all got different things, like the five spice roasted chicken, pork belly wraps, salmon garlic noodles, and vietnamese shaken beef (bo luc lac). everyone loved everything and the price was pretty fair, after tip we all paid under 30 bucks for a pretty high quality meal. the red rice that came with the filet mignon and chicken had a really nice buttery taste, and the salad had a wide variety of veggies and even pickled banh mi veggies like daikon and carrot. the filet mignon was perfectly seasoned (not too salty) and came with a great dipping sauce. the chicken looked like it was charbroiled in a traditional vietnamese way, the skin was perfectly toasted on top and it looked juicy. had a pork wrap with lettuce, watermelon radish, thin flat vermicelli noodles, pickled carrot + daikon, herbs and it was so good. they perfectly cooked the pork belly so the skin was puffed up and crispy. it would be a good dish to share but i personally wouldn't order it by itself cuz too fatty for me lol. the salmon with garlic noodles was pretty bomb too. the way they cook the salmon, it comes out perfectly crisp kinda like they deep fried it all around so it has a crust. the fish was not fishy at all and tasted quite fresh and not salty. the garlic noodles were yummy and had a nice taste. the interior design here is iconic. fake trees inside tho, wish they were real but i understand that would make it more difficult lol. the price of the food here is quite fair so it was crowded even on a tuesday. low lighting and modern design made it look like it was a midcentury modern home interior or something. great for a date with friends or the boo. will surely come back again to try more, curious about the deconstructed banh mi..

Updating my review to include tasty items I tried for the first time: Mango sticky rice matcha- strong coconut flavor, yum Ube Vietnamese Coffee- strong coffee and ube flavor, yum Mango sticky rice dessert- loved the Pandan sticky rice, loved this overall Banana bread pudding - very good, black sesame crunch is perfect to balance the sweetness Also, as I'm reading my first review, just realized Danielle was our gal again, and she was so nice, again!

Went for dinner with a couple friends of mine when I was in SoCal. This place is the bomb. Everything tasted wonderful and services were top notch. Definitely recommend getting a reservation prior to dining in. This place gets packed. The ambiance was super nice and very modern. You see everything cooked and prepared where you're sitting. Definitely recommend this place for anyone in the Fountain Valley area.

Long overdue review. This spot is absolutely worth checking out. The Vietnamese coffee was tasty, the food was flavorful and nicely plated, and I also loved the modern, cozy atmosphere that made the whole experience feel extra enjoyable. It's one of those places that's hard to forget after your first visit. The only catch is the wait. This place gets busy quickly, so I'd definitely recommend making a reservation if you can. Looking forward to coming back!

Overall, an amazing experience at NEP Café. The service is excellent and very quick. All the food was delicious and the ambience was amazing. Ratings: Curry crab omelette 8/10: this was a solid dish, but honestly, I know it was an omelette, but it just taste like eggs basically just an omelette with a little bit of crab but not bad. Shrimp fried rice 9/10: with the lime sauce on the side this is delicious by itself not so much of a great dish, but with the sauce amazing. Filet mignon banh mi 9.5/10: the only reason I take off .5 is because the bread was very very hard. But overall, an amazing dish and the flavors were amazing. The filet mignon was cooked to perfection. Mango sticky rice 7/10 if you are a fan of black sesame and your desserts, this is perfect for you. Banana bread pudding 100/10: this genuinely might be one of the greatest desserts I've ever had amazing perfection. All of the aspects of it are perfect the crunch the banana, the ice cream, the bread pudding everything about it just amazing if you love banana you will love this dessert.

Always a pleasant experience dining at Nep Cafe. Overtime I do see that the restaurant had elevated every dish to a new level , more attention to detailed for each element on the plate. At first I was not used to the fusion flavor of their sister restaurant, Nep , however, had found the perfect balance between traditional vietnamese dishes ( like crispy pork with pickled carrot / daikon ) with adding some modern twist to it. The drinks are pretty good too, I do prefer matcha to be a little stronger . They nailed it with the egg coffee. Service: Great, attentive. Highly recommend this place for brunch, date. It can get crowded so make sure you get here early during weekend.

Lots to like about the Nep Cafe. Yet another recommendation from a good friend who has yet to steer us wrong. It would have earned 4.5 stars because I did not care for the deconstructed Bahn Mi (my son however raved about it) but everything else was excellent so it was an easy round up. Clean modern interior with on point and friendly staff. We were off rush hour so there was parking but it looks to be tight if things are busy The Food Garlic Noddle with Shrimp: So good. Fresh tasty shrimp with a nice slight char on them paired with rich garlicky noodles. Each could have stood on their own but together they were magic broccolini: nicely cooked and the roasted? garlic added a nutty element to them. Just the right amount of chili added a nice heat to it as well Spicy Wontons: I did not taste but looked fantastic and the table loved them. Why did I not get to taste them? I was distracted by the garlic noodles and my family attacked it like a pack of hungry wolves. By the time I circled back to them I was staring at an empty dish lol Beef belly: This ribbon like strips of beef belly severed almost bento style on rice. Surrounded by a tasty and fresh arrangement of toppings that paired perfectly with the beef. The egg had a glorious runny yolk and lets face it yolk soaked rice is one of life's better pleasures This was a great spot highlighting a modern take on Vietnamese fusion cuisine

Nep Cafe Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Nep Cafe

Do you guys have happy hour? And from what day and time to time?

    Mon-Fri from 2pm to 5pm, excluding holidays!

Is it okay to study here? For around 2-3 hours?

Unfortunately It's way too noisy to study here

Is the bone marrow pasta still available?

Hello! Due to popular demand, we'd like for you to know that we've brought back our Bone Marrow Pasta!

Pet Friendly? Inside, outside, or both?

I'm sure you can take the pup and sit outside. Inside? I doubt it. You may want to call the restaurant and ask.…

Would the brunch menu be available during dinner (for example, the banh mi Chao)?

I did not see the brunch menu item you are referring to on the dinner menu and was told by other friends who visited here before during brunch that the menu differs.

Christopher I have a reservation at 2pm but only for 2, can I make it good for 4?

Yes, we take walk-ins daily. Please give us a visit!

Are they ever going to bring back the bone marrow pasta?

We understand the disappointment with the removal of our Bone Marrow Pasta dish and apologize for the inconvenience. As we take in our customer feedback, we will definitely consider adding it back to our menu sometime down the line.

Are they opened tomorrow on Labor Day?

    Open

Is there a bottomless mimosa option?

No there is not. But they have an option for you to buy a bottle of champagne or just one individual mimosa

Does this place have a waitlist feature on Yelp?

No, but if you go before 10:30am you'll get seated right away.

    Do they accept cash?

    No, only cards

If my reservation is at 230, how much time I have to eat? Since they close at 3?

Do you need a reservation to eat here?

    No but it helps

Do you allow dogs for Outdoor seating?

Yes, we allow dogs for outdoor seating! Please give us a visit!

Do they still have coconut corn soup? I don't see it on the menu.

From what I observed, they seem to switch out a few items by season, add new ones. If the coconut corn soup is not on the current, updated menu, maybe it'll come back later in a different season.

Does this place bring you flights of different coffees?

No, that option isn't available but it would be great if they did!

Do I need Reservations or can we do walk-in for dine-in?

It's recommended you get reservations because the wait for walk-ins can be quite long, especially on the weekends!

    Is there dairy free options?

How do I pronounce their name? I don't want to offend anyone.

I think the closest pronunciation/comparison I would say is like "nape" (like the back of your neck). I think the Google Translate pronunciation of it is solid if you're interested in hearing how it's pronounced; it should translate to sticky rice.

    Do they accept walkins?

Yes! There might be a wait though.

They've been consistently amazing ever since they opened, and somehow they've only gotten better over time. I honestly enjoy just about every drink on their menu, especially their seasonal specials. My all-time favorite has to be their 2026 Spring Earl Grey Matcha. I was getting it almost every week, and I was genuinely sad when they switched over to their summer menu. Thankfully, they kept the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha, because wow... what a flavor explosion. It's easily one of the best matcha drinks I've ever had, and my friend and I keep coming back just for it. I know it sounds a little adventurous, because it did to me, but when I tried it, it genuinely changed my life (kidding). If mango isn't your thing, I highly recommend either the Double Matcha or the Banana Matcha. The Double Matcha is perfect if you love a strong matcha flavor; you can really taste the quality of the matcha they use. As for the Banana Matcha, I normally don't gravitate toward banana drinks, but SIP completely changed my mind. They use what tastes like a banana pudding instead of artificial banana flavoring, and it blends so smoothly with the matcha that every sip feels balanced and indulgent. The café itself is just as charming as the drinks. The wood paneling gives the space a cozy, retro vibe that makes you want to stay a while, and the staff is always incredibly friendly, patient, and welcoming.

The space is super cute with such a fun, cozy vibe, and the staff was so kind and welcoming. I especially loved the red gingham decor it gives the whole place the cutest little picnic feel There are a few chairs where you can sit, sip, and chat, but no tables, so I wouldn't really consider this a spot to bring your laptop and work. Now the MATCHA I looooved their matcha with the Earl Grey foam top. OMG... it was phenomenal!! The matcha was earthy, umami, and so well balanced, and the hint of Earl Grey in the foam complemented it perfectly without overpowering the matcha. Such a good combination! I will 100% be coming back for this one!

I went around 12:30 pm and it was a packed lot. The store itself was too busy and felt cramped. The space seems suitable for smaller groups. At the time, there was a line before you could order. It took almost 10 minutes for the order to be ready. American Express is accepted here. Sea Salt Coffee: This was on the signature section so I had big expectations for it. It was a very small drink (9 oz). It was slightly salted, tasted bitter, and wasn't sweet despite having condensed milk as an ingredient. It wasn't good. Canale: Despite having to wait for the drink, I needed to wait longer for this because the staff forgot to put it in the order. I needed to wait for them to prepare it in the back and also go back to the counter to charge for it. All to wait for something that was mushy. Coffee Beans: I saw there were coffee beans from Glitch in Japan. It was a brand that I loved there so I wanted to give it a try. I don't usually like fruity notes but this was really delicious. However, it's extremely pricy for how little beans there is.

If you don't mind walking a little, parking is fine. Inside, there was plenty of seating, and even though it was noisy, it is still a popular place to work or study with good lighting. There were lots of people on laptops, and some outlets along the walls for charging. I tried the Sweet Corn Latte and the Pistachio Matcha Latte. The Sweet Corn Latte was aptly named. It was sweet, and the foam on top had a surprisingly authentic corn flavor. I also liked that they offer a decaf version, which isn't something every specialty coffee shop has. The Pistachio Matcha Latte was smoother and more subtle. The pistachio wasn't very strong, but it complemented the matcha nicely. If you enjoy matcha and don't want something overly sweet, it's a good choice. We also ordered the Popcorn Chicken, which ended up being one of the highlights. It was well-seasoned, crispy on the outside, and still tender inside. Definitely one of the better popcorn chickens I have had. Overall, this is a solid café with creative drinks, good food, and enough space to settle in for a while. I'll definitely be back.

LB by far has done it better than everyone else. it's seasonal though, so try it before it's gone! the staff deserves more stars than offered in this review. they even greet me by name but even when there's tons of people & chaos inside, they're always calm, collected, patient & kind. i'd like to think i've tried most if not all coffee shops locally, and you're truly not going to find better than LBC!

Another weekend, another coffee fix needed. Long Black Coffee was on my list for quite some time so…read moreI was excited to give it a try. It's located in a large plaza that contains a supermarket. I went at around 11 AM and it was busy. There was a wait for ordering and many seating was already taken. For future reference, there is an option to order online for pickup. American Express is accepted here. I wasn't sure what to order at the time. With a recommendation, the staff said biscoff cookie butter latte was good option for those with a sugar craving. Looking at the menu again, I saw they had a pistachio cream latte. Absolutely loved the drink; cream top wasn't too sweet and paired well with the espresso. Despite being busy, it only took a few minutes for them to make the drink. They also sold coffee beans, which I grabbed as well. Appreciated that they have different pricing for later roasted dates. I was able to grab a spot as someone was leaving. It's a decent spot to sit and get some work done. However, it could be a bit nosy. If not a working spot, definitely for picking up quality coffee drinks! Looking forward to trying out other items in the next visit.

The business has a few tables outside and a good amount of seating inside as well. I ordered a Ube Cream Coffee - Saigon Style ($5.50). Yummmm!! I love how strong but creamy and delicious this coffee is. I'm hooked! I am Vietnamese and I approve of this cup of coffee. While I was there I saw their glorious casing of pastries and I couldn't resist. I ordered and enjoyed: 2 Garlic Bread ($5.35/each), Chocolate Croissant ($6.60), Almond Croissant ($6.85), Cinnamon Pull Apart Bread ($4.75) and 2 Macarons ($3.20). Their pastries are fantastic. My boyfriend doesn't enjoy sweets as much as I do so that garlic bread was good for it. The croissants were really flakey and flavorful. I enjoyed the bread. For the macarons I was given a third one as a thanks for all the items I orders and I liked all 3. Yum! Wish I could come back to support the business, especially with their incredible coffee, but I was told that they will be closing on 7/31/26. I'm so sad I didn't discover them sooner. I wish them all the best and hope they re-open in the future.
