After walking by this restaurant for 2 months at the U, I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered the Teriyaki Twist Bowl, and my partner ordered the Oaxaca bowl. After adding chicken to both of our meals, our total was $18 and change, with no drinks. A bit spendy for our taste, but I was happy with my meal. The bowl was fresh, had a lot of food, and was ready pretty quickly even with the long line. Just to be aware-this location is underground in the tunnels under the Mayo building. Just follow the signs from Washington street and it shouldn't be too hard to find. read more

Mateo is the manager I suppose, at least he acts as if he is, and if you look below for remarks about rude employees, know that Mateo is the reason because a rude and confrontational manager leads to rude, grumpy, and confrontational employees. I am vegan and I went in and ask if they would take out the eggs and cheese and substitute tofu and was told absolutely not--rudely and forcefully --and I was encouraged to file a complaint and tell them that Mateo sent me. Like many other reviews I wanted to like this place but it's overpriced and extremely mediocre of a product. My salad was pretty tasteless and nothing was specifically wrong just was very basic and would not go back for the price. Chicken had no flavor and really nothing about my Cobb salad had anything that would make me craving it again. Crisp n green has much better salads for the same price points. read more

Mediocre fast food from a company that doesn't care about the environment. Every bowl for dine-in includes a HUGE plastic cover no matter what that just gets thrown out. And this particular location is all kinds of wrong. When I requested that my bowl doesn't get a cover because my order was to dine in, I was snipply told by the guy working the back counter prep area that "we have to give that to you because of code." When I said I'm dine-in and that it was akin to a restaurant serving me food without covers he flippantly snapped, "if you have a problem with it, take it up with corporate." I said "Ok, well I just won't come here anymore." and he replied in a cheery manner "OK fine." Along with this, they were out of particular ingredients that they had told me AFTER I ordered and paid; and their dining room was closing in 15 minutes, another thing they failed to share with me which would have been helpful info to know since I planned to dine in. I agree with other reviews... wanted to like this place, but after two visits don't think I will be back. Custom wrap for $13 is ok if I got what I ordered! Asked for no dressing, wrap was soaking in something other than the yogurt dressing i requested on side. Requested grilled... was not. Requested blue cheese, had none. Have been here twice... used "create your own" sheet both times... both times got something other than what I ordered. Maybe ordering off the menu would work better... don't know that I will ever find out... doubtful I'll be back. Seems to be quite popular though... long lines at lunch time. I really wanted to like this place. I work in the building and have visited three times. When they first opened the lines were quite long but already their audience has thinned. I think I know why. My first experience was the Asian vegetable soup. This was more like cup-o-noodles than I could have imagined. It was the only entree I've eaten there that was actually hot (temperature) when I got it, and the portion was generous and served in a to-go container, but it had no flavor and really, was just like cup-o-noodles. My second attempt was the Tex-mex burrito. It didn't taste bad but with Chipotle just down the street, it needed to be good. The portion was ample but what really got my attention was that all of the ingredients were cold when they made the burrito, then they but it in a press for a few seconds to heat it. As you may imagine the outside was hot but as soon as you bite into it, ice cold in the middle, yuck. Next, I decided to get the falafel. You have to be pretty determined to order this because as a temporary offering it is on a blinking menu that is very difficult to read. As a result I got the falafel side instead of a bowl. It was very small with 4 mushy under-heated falafel on cold veggie slaw made mostly of red cabbage and beets. It came with runny, bitter tahini-lemon sauce for dipping the falafel.The slaw was good but the rest was almost inedible and again, the falafel were lukewarm, that was unforgivable. I applaud the effort to make fast food that is full of healthy ingredients, but this food lacks flavor and was under-heated not once but twice in my three visits. Eating here is out of necessity not out of desire. In the midst of studying, hunger forces one to arrive here because it occupies prime real estate. That being said the food taste like how I imagine the kitchen sink droppings in the garbage disposal would taste like. Distasteful but it will help you survive to study another day. read more

The service here is so incredibly rude. Not all employees but several make me feel like a nuisance just by being there. Like now they actually have to work. They will stare you down if it's close to closing time (45min) instead of politely asking you to eat outside the area. I really wanted to like this place because it's so convenient to stop in during work. But the mixture of cold mediocre food, high prices, lack of ice in the soda fountain on several occasions, and rude employees makes me rather go out of my way than give my money to these people. The food is ok. I like going here as it is a nice healthy alternative compared to other options on campus. I normally get the oaxaca bowl with steak. The bowl itself tastes good (though the beans are a little too wet), however, the price makes this place not worth it! I can get two meals elsewhere for a bowl here. Another reason why I am rating this place low is because of the customer service. I've been at this location quite often and the cash register people act like you are always inconveniencing them and sometimes downright rude. It seems like a constant problem as other reviews has said the same thing as well. It's really too bad because their smoothies and frozen yogurt is really good (though overpriced!). It has the perfect balance of flavor as their smoothies are not too sweet and you can tell they use real fruit. However, the customer service is always a turn off. Do yourself a favor and download tapingo so you don't have to even interact with the cash register people. read more

I can't seem to be able to order one of their juices off the menu the past few times I've gone there. I went around 1pm and they said they stop making juices after 1pm. Then when I went back another day after 12pm (before the 1pm time they said previously) and they still wouldn't make me a juice and said they stop serving juices at 11am, meaning you can't order any of their juices or smoothies with your lunch unless you eat lunch super early. It would be helpful to have these hours somewhere specifying this so I don't waste my time walking over there only to have them tell me only part of the menu is available. I'm a bit fed up with this place as a result and no longer want to give them my business. Also, their hours are not until 6:30pm as it says here. They close promptly at 2pm, and treat people very rudely who come in after 1pm. read more

The service at this location was absolutely terrible. I realize that this is a franchise and thus is owned by Sodexo however it should still represent the freshii name. It was horrible, I like Freshii and have been to the St. Paul location a few times. I have taken a new job at the U of MN and was excited to have a location near me. I will not go back with the service I received. the cashier was rude and unknowledgeable about anything Freshii related. She was only knowledgeable about how to kind of run a register, and be rude. The manager was also not helpful in the least and was really rude and curt! This is a hospital full of doctors and nurses that want to spend money for lunch somewhere that is healthy and this place is just ridiculous and reminiscent of a cafeteria (aka Sodexo) and not Freshii. The food is not organic or non-gmo, but the meals I've had have been tasty enough. When I have asked the staff if something is organic, I have been stared at blankly like they don't know what that means. It is convenient if you work in the complex or want a break from hospital food. The oatmeal is nice and hot, with nuts and berries for toppings, the salads are okay. I think that, when you add the chicken breast, it tastes like a frozen chicken breast, Just remember that this is not health food, but healthier food than greasy burgers and beef-tallow soaked fries. read more

I have eaten here 3 times now. I work nearby so it's convenient. First of all, please don't stare at me while I am looking at the menu above your head. I have some dietary restrictions so I need to look at all the ingredients. I have had the Asian vegetable soup. Added chicken. It was good. If you are not going to eat this right away, ASK FOR A BAG TO CARRY IT. IT IS HOT!! I think your staff should warn customers about this. Have also had a salad -- it was OK, but they forgot to add avacado. My most recent visit was for a burrito. I added steak as my protein (and paid almost $3 extra). I unfortunately did not watch them make it b/c I had my back turned to get eating utensils and napkins. When I picked it up, I saw the ticket said add falafel. I asked about this and they assured me it was made with beef. Should have looked. No steak. They added falafel. And like the other reviewer, it was cold on inside. To get my order wrong is an insult to me and makes your staff look inept. I was the only one ordering at the time and there was no one waiting for an order.
