I called last week about renting a suit for my son for a school dance and discussed what I was looking for with the girl who answered the phone. She told me they had a promotion and that we would be able to rent a suit, shirt, tie, and no vest for $60. I was surprised by that price, so I confirmed with her a few times that that was accurate, and she insisted it was. Come to find out, when we showed up, they had nothing in the store at that price and had no idea what I was talking about. I ended up having to spend over twice what I was quoted on the phone. They were nice enough about it, but I should have been given accurate information when I called so that I could make an informed decision and compare with other places. I feel like I was induced to come into the store with either completely false information or utter incompetence. Please - if you are not confident in your response to an inquiry, put me on hold and get the right answer from someone else. ABSOLUTELY HATED IT!!!! my nephew had prom so I took him to this tux place. Took us about an hour before they finally helped us. Not to mention when he finally picked up his tux, wrong tie, wrong shirt, and no socks!!! I had to drive all the way back and pick them up and of course my nephew was behind schedule because of that!!! Had to drive there 3 times because the inexperienced people there cannot fit a suit. When I finally recieved my garments for the wedding the day before the shoes were missing and the shirt was still so baggy because of the poor fit even people at the wedding noticed the poor fit of the suits. When I tried to talk to a manager a half hour before they closed the day before the wedding no one could help me. I had to call a manager at the Chula Vista branch to get any action taken. I told them I wanted a full refund. Furthermore they couldn't do anything. They had 2 weeks to et it together and ran out of time. I strongly re come d against going here. I am upset that my friends gave these guys so much money to rent from them. Worst part is. The manager of the store is the one that forgot my shoes! Even after she said she'd fix anything that was a problem! I told em I wanted to see the tux figment before I payed and they refused. Now I know why. read more

Friars bailed us out in a pinch!! I mean 4 days before the wedding. Another vendor fell out from under us and Friars had so many choices and their inventory is amazing!! Edwin and Ben were magnificent. They were beyond helpful. I couldn't have been happier with the service and courtesy. They provided many helpful hints/suggestions that clearly indicated they were very interested and involved in us, not just as a sale/customer but more of just wanting us to take advantage of their knowledge and expertise. I could've paid them each a small fortune for how much value they added to our suit/tux choices. I was at another tux rental place (not mentioning names, but it was a "wearhouse"...) and fortunately paused the rental process to call around. The woman that answered the phone informed me that her prices on comparable tuxes was about 1/3 the price so I stopped and went over to Friar Tux. Not only were their prices about 1/2 that of what I was looking at with the other store, but their service was fast and they offered me an additional $40 off because we were renting for my son's prom. We were in and out in about 15 minutes and when we came back to pick up the tux, we were in and out in about 10. There was an issue with the shirt and jacket being just a little too short and we came back in (on a Saturday morning, just before the prom) and they tailored it on site. Anthony was great and even comp'd us a pocket square for our trouble. Great tux, can't ask for better service, reasonable price ($150 vs. the "other" place charging $290) and talented staff. read more

Do not go to the one in vista they just can't seem to get orders and when I got my tux it was all dirty and they are all very rude you would think the manger would be nice but no not at all when I told her my tux was dirty when I got it she said oh sure like she didn't be live me you pay all that money for dirty tux Don't waste your money and time I would never use them again read more

I had a great experience at Friar Tux. I am 6 foot 7 inches tall with size 15 feet, I was worried that I was going to have trouble finding a place that carries big and tall sizes. They had everything on hand for me to try on, and told me to pick up my tux 48 hours before my event. A very streamlined process, and all the employees were knowledgable, and friendly. Hi all this tux shop is absolutely horrible, we went here for my brothers wedding, we were told we had to make an appointment to get fitted and it was a slow day that day, we told them we have big boys coming and to have big sizes available to try on, we came one week later on a Saturday problem #1 the reps working that day were dressed very unprofessionally young guy had a untucked in shirt with a backwards cap on and the girl looked like she just woke up and showed up in her pajamas they did not have any big sizes available and 1 of us was told a manager would contact him so that was a wasted trip for that individual and their "bathrooms " were out of service 1 week passed by and no call from the "manager" then the bride called and asked whats the delay? So 1 week and a day later the manager calls the individual shows up and again the bigger clothes not available! BOTTOM LINE this store is the worst place ever dont waste your money or time go to the mens wearhouse instead. read more
