For a decent suit the price was good. I do have a bit to say on this location (good and bad). So my first experience coming in was during prom season, which obviously made the store much busier. This wasn't a huge issue for my group bc we were made aware of this! I believe her name was "G" and she was very helpful! Being a woman looking for a "gender neutral/masculine suit" is very stressful in general and she made it super easy! My only issue was we only ended up having time for me bc she had to go to lunch (100% not her fault) , but everyone else repeatedly ignored us when the rest of my group came to also get fitted accordingly! we ended up leaving and everyone was just going to go to their respective stores. They have a lot of options, however knowing which are rented vs buy is important based on what they can do to it. I ended up doing a buy suit and they have "tailoring" on site. Although very quick, as a shorter person the temporary hems they did fell at weird places on the arm and the pants they couldn't do anything but make them shorter. The manager was also extremely unkind as I recently moved and lost my job so I was unable to come back right away to check everything. They ended up refunding the coat hem and gave me a new coat which was very kind however. I now have to go to another tailor which is fine since i do understand i'm not the "usual" customer. I also love the color options they have,however, Unsure if i would go back (to this location) bc my second experience was not the greatest. From our first visits (to the San Diego - Linda Vista store) and to our final returns at the Vista location, Friar Tux was very supportive in answering our questions and helping my now wife (!) and me find the best look for our special day. We had a party of 10 with a few different styles for some of the members. Even with those differences, Friar Tux delivered as promised; all our party members received the correct orders. We were impressed with the entire Friar Tux operation and how they are able to manage and deliver their products and services. Some of our party members were in different locations. They had no issues at the other stores doing their fittings and also having their suits shipped to their homes. We worked with nearly all members of the Vista location. They were prompt and professional. Even with other customers ahead of us or waiting behind us, the Vista team members were able to assist us and the other patrons in a timely and efficient manner. The tux my son rented for prom looks really nice. He went to the final fitting two days before and the sleeves were too short. He had to come back the next day. I don't know what they actually fixed because the sleeves are still too short. Nothing we can do now but it's still a bummer. The selection here is nice. They just need more staff in the store, especially around prom season. The two girls working the place looked really stressed out. Fabulous experience! The waiting room can be crowded on a Saturday afternoon, but that should be expected. We were helped by two young ladies (wish I could remember names for proper credit) who were totally awesome and gave great suggestions as we were still working on color coordination! Honestly a terrible experience overall. My initial measurements and fitting weren't saved for the fitting appointment, so the entire suit was too small. They had me try on another shirt which was clearly dirty and had a terrible BO smell just for sizing that day. I was irritated but didn't think much of it. Suit pick up day, and it turns out they gave me that same dirty shirt for my pickup... so the entire time we were having photos taken I smelled like someone else's armpits. The pants hadn't had their inseam changed like we decided at the fitting appointment, and the shoes were a different (larger) size. First time renting a tux in a very long time, and I won't be back for the weddings I'm attending this year. read more

This is a follow up review. Yesterday we picked up my grandson's tuxedo for his prom. Shana runs the shop like a well oiled machine. There are customers constantly coming through the door and yet she greets them all with a smile and engages with them in a way that makes them feel very welcome. The one thing I can say about this store is that the employees were kind and personable. Besides that- bad experience. My boyfriend needed a tux, the initial consult went fine. First fitting (3 days before we needed it) was SO incorrect, it was as if they had given him someone else's tux. When he went back 2 days later for the fitting correction, everything from top to bottom was great. When he put on the tux for the event- EVERYTHING fit wrong: shoes, pants, shirt (which hasn't been laundered and smelled like the previous wearer's armpits), jacket. Basically the fittings were meaningless and he is HORRIBLY uncomfortable. We will 100% not be returning, this experience was ABSOLUTELY NOT worth the price tag (nearly $300). read more

So I made an appointment, showed up, and waited 10 minutes past the appointment time to be told that I should go to a tailor instead. AWFUL The people at friar tux did everything in their power to ruin my wedding. All 6 of my groomer came in, got fitted & were told by the associate our suits would be in in 2 weeks. Seems simple enough. 3 weeks later, no suit 4 weeks later (days before the wedding) all my groomsmen & I get our suits... none were fitted After contacting friar tux, they informed me that they would not be altering my suits & since my wedding was so soon it wouldn't be ready in time. I had to find another local seamstress & pay an additional $200 FOR EACH SUIT The one groomsmen who did decide to use their alteration services (Temecula location) showed up at the wedding & THEY DIDNT GIVE HIM HIS PANTS!!! My groomsmen had to drive over an hour from the wedding venue back to the store in Temecula. They did absolutely nothing to fix the issue. When they emailed me after the wedding asking for a review; obviously, I left 1 star. They reached out to me the next day & in order to fix everything they said they wanted to offer me a Starbucks gift card. I could not believe it. This place is by far, the worst company I've ever dealt with in regards to suit rentals, & I've been in many weddings. AWFUL read more

WARNING - DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS FOR IMPORTANT OCCASIONS. I visited Friar Tux on Saturday October 7th to get fitted for and rent a tuxedo for my sister's wedding. When I went to pick up the suit, I was informed by the "manager-in-training," Shana Simeno, that they had ordered the incorrect suspenders which I had unknowingly paid $25 for. She assured me that they would have the correct suspenders by the wedding day (Saturday October 14th). Unfortunately, they gave me the incorrect suspenders again, and I did not find out until I got to the wedding venue. When I returned the tuxedo on Sunday October 15th, I simply asked for a $25 refund for the incorrect suspenders. I was told by Shana that I would not be given a refund since the suspenders were opened (even though it was the store staff that opened them). To make matters worse, Shana was extremely disrespectful, and even attempted to blame my group for ordering the wrong suspenders, even though the staff admitted to their mistake at my original fitting appointment. She also said "well you already got a big discount" to further try to justify why I don't deserve a refund. Shana refused to provide me with her manager's name or contact information. She was brutally condescending and kept telling me to "call Corporate" for a solution. As I was walking out, a young man came in to inform Shana that she had also messed up his suit. Shana once again showed lack of accountability and empathy. She absolutely should not be working here considering her lack of professionalism and abhorrent attitude. Buyer beware - If you come here, you probably have a "big day" of some sort coming up. Make sure you understand the risks associated with working with someone as clueless, rude, and unprofessional as Shana. UPDATE - company posted that they reached out to me, which is not true. Needed to rent a tux for my son's wedding in Chicago. Went about 6 weeks out to ask questions and they had just relocated to the other corner of the shopping center because of roof leak. A couple of racks andale shift Point of Sale, etc. They were extremely nice given the circumstances. When I went back to actually get measured etc, store looked completely different, franklyi like they had just moved over there 4 weeks prior. They helped decide on the tux, buy vs rent, etc. When it came in it fit perfect, couldn't have been happier. The team over there is great, helpful, know their stuff and cheerful? Great fit, great service. I walked in on Sunday stressed because I needed a suit for a good friends wedding by Friday, Adriana had me fixed up in no time! Here's the run down; Although I'm not in the wedding party, The bride decided last minute that since I'm so close to everyone, I will be in enough pictures to where I should have a suit on. I happily said "of course" and ran out the next day to find one. After about 30 mins Adriana had me measured, fitted and feeling at easy. The staff at the Vista location were friendly & made my experience extremely easy and pleasurable. I needed a tux for a wedding and I had procrastinated to the last minute. I walked in on a Tuesday just before closing and I was able to try on pants, jackets, shirts and vests of different sizes to find the perfect fit. My tux was ready for pick up the next day on Wednesday. No rush charge either. On the day of the wedding I looked sharp and was very happy with the fit and overall look. They even threw in a new pair of dress socks at no extra charge. They have a ton of different colors available and all the accessories to go with the tux (ties, bowties, pocket squares, belts, shoes, etc.) I can't recommend these guys enough. read more

I wanted to love renting our wedding party attire from here so much. Our little boy was one of our groomsmen and his dad and I took him in for their initial fittings two months before our wedding. We were told then that they wanted to not do our little boy's final measurements until we picked up their suits. He was either going to be a 3T or a 4T. I spoke to customer service twice over the phone to verify fitting timelines and deposits for all four of the suits we would need. When we went to pick up my fiancé's and little boy's suits they didn't have anything for our son. After much rushing they were only able to get a jacket, pocket square, vest and pants. This is what the pants ended up looking like when we got him ready for our wedding. Friar Tux ended up taking off the charges for the shirt, shoes, tie and socks and this is what $105 got us for my little boy's suit (it would have been $132 with the entire package). Apparently we were supposed to come in a week prior to scheduled pickup, but none of my phone consultations nor email communications stated this. We just wanted him to look like a groomsman by matching everyone else. We would have been better served buying him a suit instead. If you have a child in your wedding party don't rent them a suit here. read more

Easiest process during wedding planning. We dealt directly with Brett and he was super helpful. All of the boys were spread out throughout California and two in Hawai'i. Thankfully Friar has an online portal making submitting the measurements a breeze. They're very good about reaching out and following up so there is absolutely no waiting or guessing. If you rent so many suites/tuxes, you get one free rental. We had to buy our own gray dress shirts as the only ones they have in stock are white and black. As for the ring bearers, their little suites were for purchase. Everything came out better than expected and they had the same color ties and pocket squares to match the color of my bridesmaid dresses. Brett and his staff were very attentive throughout the whole process. They are open and willing to answer any questions and change anything we weren't happy with. This was probably the easiest part of wedding planning and I am super thankful for that! read more

Long story short, the one that came in 2 days before the wedding did not fit him the way he wanted, so we went to friar tux in hopes to get one that soon. The staff was AMAZING. So unbelievably helpful and so nice. It felt like they really cared so much about our situation. They fitted him and the tux came in the next day! I visited the Vista Friar today for a fitting and was appalled due to the lack of professionalism and utter disrespect from 2 female employees. Shana Simeno was blatantly rude and incredibly condescending. I personally am not familiar with suits or any formal attire. With that said, she went out of her way to make me feel incredibly dumb and also made multiple negative comments about the bridal party's suit choice.
