We had previously gone to a different tuxedo shops, but were never really sold. After going to the escondido we decided to give this company another try in vista and Brett was very professional and welcomed my fiance and myself in. Update 6/3/17 We stopped in on 5/31 to pick up our son's tux. The young man that helped us the first time was also there to help my son try everything on and make sure the fit was right. I am so impressed and really, just touched by the exemplary customer service by the Manager at this location of Friar Tux (Oceanside/Vista CA) Let me start by saying, I was a little worried when my lesbian daughter, who's going to her Sr. Prom, told me she wants a really nice tuxedo for Prom. She's a senior and she's such an incredible person: My daughter makes sandwiches early Sunday mornings to feed Oceanside's homeless. She has a 4.2 gpa; is an accelerated athlete and leads a cultural dance group at her school, in Vista, among other clubs she has spearheaded on her own! I am so proud of my daughter, because she truly is special, for just the person she is! My concern as a mother is, how will other people treat her, so when we entered into Friar Tux, my antennas were up, so to speak. We were greeted by all 3 staff members there. I have been in sales/customer service for more than 30 yrs, so to see the way the Manager of this location was juggling, directing, at the same time he was providing excellent customer service to my daughter. He was exceptional at making her feel comfortable during her fitting and he offered great suggestions, applying his knowledge in tuxedos. We picked up my daughter's tuxedo this afternoon, for Prom this Saturday- She tried it on for the family when we got home... We all cried... and we cried. A tux is a tux and I don't think you guys differ very much from other rental shops. I must say though that I will be a loyal customer of the Vista location. When my vest size was too large due a mix up, the manager of the store was there. He not only reassured me that it would be corrected but told me to call the shop the next day and he personally would take care of it. Needless to say, the problem was resolved and I did not need to call him. I think the problems are bound to occur in this industry but the reassurance and customer service I received was unique and priceless. I will continue to use you for tux rentals and specifically the Vista location. My fiancé and I came here to find his suit for our wedding and the process couldn't have been more pleasant and easy thanks to Brett. Something that could have been stressful was made so simple! Just walked out of Friar Tux. I went in having no idea what color or style of suit I wanted, honestly thought I was going to accomplish nothing. Julian helped me every step of the way. It would've made it easier for him if I were to have had an idea of what I wanted so I highly recommend knowing before you arrive what your goal is to help them help you. Top notch service! My fiancé and I went in to get fitted for my suit for the wedding and the associate helping us, who turned out to be the manager(Cesar) was friendly, polite and worked with us on anything we needed. He also did an amazing job at balancing his attention to all the clientele that were in the store. We arrived when they opened and he had a few customers to handle but he did a great job and was able to start all of our requests and then come back to us once the people in front of us were done. Overpriced horrible customer service. You can buy a suit for the price they're trying to rent these suits for. Go to Men's Wearhouse or any suit and Tux dealer and you will get a much better deal and you'll be able to keep it. Management was very very rude I will never be returning to Friar Tux Shop again and I recommend that no one else should come here. Manager was HORRIBLE! We just left and turned down ordering 5 tuxes due to her complete lack of customer service. An employee who was actually friendly and pleasant, but seemed new, tried to answer our simple questions but kept going to the back to ask his manager. The wedding parties information was already in there system so he only needed to get sized. It was really fast and simple. We went here to rent 3 tuxes for a wedding. Not just any 3 tuxes, but 3 tuxes for my fiance, a 15 year old and a 9 year old boy. There is a special place in karmic heaven for the ladies that work here. They were able to actually find, size, and make relatively happy our two teenage groomsmen. They have every coordinating tie/vest color under the sun. They kept the boys on track and thankfully my wedding will be free of skull/crossbone cuff links, ruffled shirts, and odd top hats. Not that there is anything wrong with those...just not my vision. Plus, we received $40 off of each tux rental by pre-registering with them. read more

Tux was picked up on Thursday for prom on Saturday. Unfortunately it arrived without the pants which they stated would be in on Friday. Considering it is a 20 mile round trip and an hour and a half out of our day because we had to again wait in line to pick up the pants we asked the gentleman for a possible consideration for their mistake. His response was " no because it was part of the original fitting" ? So apparently it's common to make 3 trips to pick up a tux? The Original fitting, picking up the tux minus the pants and finally picking up the pants. I mentioned that I would write an appropriate review on yelp reflecting the service of which he said "ok". Updated review May 23, 2017. A prompt response to my concerns along with a personal call from Jay, the district Manager has changed has my impression of Friar Tux considerably. This is the second time I have gone through Friar Tux for a rental I have needed and both times got amazing service. I forget the name of the gentleman who helped me find what I was looking for and got me fitted but he made sure everything for perfect and it did. Came here for prom tux rental. The customer service was excellent. Took about 20 minutes to get sizing and order. Pick up was smooth but busy. They forgot to give us the bow tie and vest but we went back for it. Pocket square was missing but they ordered one for next day pickup. Friar Tux got the job done, but it was a pain dealing with them from beginning to end. I got married in June and was on the search for tuxes for the men. I went to Men's Warehouse and wasn't crazy with their vest patterns, colors, and overall selection, so I decided to move over to Friar Tux. I was in Escondido running errands, so I popped in their store. Stacy helped me out and was extremely friendly. She even helped me swap out shirts, vests, and ties on the mannequins, which was extremely helpful for me to see the whole ensemble. I ended up setting up the guys attire in Escondido. However, living in Carlsbad, the Vista store was closer to me. Upon going to the Vista store to iron out some additional details, I learned that they can't make the changes in their system. Only the original store I signed up in could. So I could tell them the changes and they would have to call Escondido. I wasn't crazy about this because of the possibility of error. A few days later, I checked their online system that lists everyone in the wedding party and their shirt/vest/tie/coat selections. I noticed an error. Grrr! If I wasn't savvy enough to notice the wrong numbered tie, then someone would have had the wrong tie. This happened at least once more when I went in to add my Grandfather and Godfather to the list of rented tuxes. I picked one vest and they had entered a completely different style. Once again, I found this error. Sounds minor but the vest they were giving me was a completely different shade. At this point, everything is ready to go and all the correct rentals are in their system. My Dad goes to pick up his tux and calls to ask me about the tie he is supposed to have. Somehow he knew I wouldn't have picked the solid black. That's right, I did not. Even though the system said paisley black, they delivered a solid black. Again, not a big deal but it's principle here. I'm glad he didn't get an orange tux delivered, right? This error caused us to want to call the groomsmen and make sure their tuxes were correct, which fortunately they were. The guys looked great in their tuxes on the wedding day, and I was a content bride. Unfortunately, my Husband left his prescription glasses in the coat pocket of his jacket. No one can find his glasses. We've talked to people at the San Gabriel store where we dropped off the tuxes, the main warehouse where all the tuxes are "broken down," pockets checked, and tuxes cleaned, and our home stores (Escondido and Vista) and no one can find them. This was the icing on top. I was really very disappointed with the level of service from Friar Tux. No one could get our order accurate and the Vista store is way understaffed and always seemed busy when we were in there. The two good things I can say about Friar Tux is they allowed us to pick up a day earlier since we were all going to be out of town two days before the wedding, and when I requested to change my Husband's tie, it came in the very next day. Overall, it was not worth the additional selections. read more

I read these reviews and called the store manager, Crystal, and expressed my concerns about the reviews on Yelp. She was very pleasant and apologetic and explained to me that the year that was so backed up, was because 4 of the largest schools in N. County had proms on the same night. When we went to the store, she was there and super nice and quick-hint go on a Sunday afternoon, place was dead. My son is there now for his final fitting and says that it is packed. My fiance and I went to Friar Tux in Vista to rent a tux for our wedding. My fiance is a body builder, no suit fit him properly. It was a frustrating situation, and we were going to take our business else were....until we met Brett. He was so acomodating, really new his stuff, and saved the day. We ended up buying a tux. Brett went above and beyond to ensure everything went smooth with our alterations at a different location, and had excellent communication skills. Our best man went throught the same issue, and Brett helped him as well. He REALLY is a wonderful asset to that store, and we could't be more thankful. I went in with my fiance to decide on tuxes for our wedding. We had 5 groomsmen that went in to get fitted as well as 4 additional people: ushers and fathers. Every single time that we went in to get people measured they told us the information they had for the colors etc, and they were ALWAYS WRONG!!!!!! I had to have them change the colors or change the style of vest etc at least 4 times and on the day the people started picking up the tuxes it was still wrong!!! Also, most of the guys who had gotten their measurements done by FRIAR tux shop went in to pick up their tuxes only to find that the pants were to small or the shirt to large! They had not magically grown 2 inches overnight! They might have been nice which was their only saving grace, but the fact that they did everything wrong made me extremely mad, and I will never go back again. read more
