Avoid this place at all cost! Crab we got had been sitting in a bucket on the counter all day cooked in the morning. The oysters look big at first but taste like fish right from the ocean and are mushy af! Fried food was so thick and greesy. Drinks are fine better off going to the brewery for food! Also got the GUMBO prawns they were little shrimp not prawns and definitely not gumbo

We ate here a couple years ago and I have been thinking about it ever since. We are finally back and the Salmon Clam Chowder is just as delicious as I remembered. My husband ordered the Cod and we shared the Prawns. My kids got the burgers. Everything was very tasty. And Nick was super friendly and helpful with suggestions for things to do on island. My only complaint is that it's sooo far away from where I live.

View from the top of the fly deck.

The view is great from the fly deck IF you're sitting along the bar. If you're sitting at a table the outside bar aligns perfectly with your eye level so you can't see anything beyond that or the people that sit there. Could be way better with tall chairs & tables. Appetizers we had were ok. Jalapeño poppers were typical deep fried previously frozen poppers. No surprise there. Calamari was disappointing. It was light & somewhat crispy but the coating fell right off when you picked it up. The capers & garlic topping ya'll need to STOP putting that on there. Sure makes it look high end but flavors DO NOT complement the Calamari. Also, PLEASE serve it with a yummy aioli sauce instead of tartar sauce. Strawberry Pina Colada was yummy !! Servers were on top of it and very friendly !! Appreciate that !!

    Fish Tacos. Bland and dry.

Come for the view, not the food. The Fish Tacos were bland and dry, and so was the Salmon. I feel bad saying this, but this is a tourist trap. The food is not good. The burgers and hotdogs are grilled downstairs at the entrance to try to draw you in. I believe everything else is made in the kitchen. It's open seating, so most people decide to sit at the rooftop for the great views. However when your food gets delivered, they don't have a table number system, so they just shout out your name. Another customer had the same name, so there was alot of confusion. The drinks were OK. However on a good note, the bartenders on the rooftop were friendly. I do not recommend.

Great view fast service food is good not great for the prices. Oysters are very large ( grilled) but not my favorite. The crab cakes were small (2) with fries but flavorful

Whole crab for $39.99 with some garlic bread. Fairly priced and tastes fresh.

Every time I'm on the islands, I'll be here more than once. The food is always a hit, service is amazing, food always comes out pretty quick, and atmosphere is enjoyable. I've ate at this restaurant I believe 3 times within a span of two days when I visited Friday harbor for the first time, and then I ate here again everyday this most recent stay! It's REALLY that delicious, and the pricing isn't too bad compared to what a lot of reviews say, but that is beside the point... I'm only giving 2 stars because I overheard a conversation of a male bartender in his late 20's try to joke with a group of elderly women by saying, "don't mind the heavy accents when they call out your name, we hired a lot of Thai kids for the summer," and began laughing obnoxiously. I work in hospitality and I know how far people will go for a decent tip, but this is straight up rude, racist, and extremely unprofessional. I genuinely felt bad for the young individuals who were working, because you can tell they are genuinely trying their best. They provided the best service I've ever received here. The only reason why I'm writing this is because I fear they are too afraid to speak up and defend themselves. Probably will never come back anymore, despite this being on my top 3 favorite spots on the island. Will be warning many folks from the mainland to stay away from here unless things change.

Came multiple days during my trip to San Juan! Our usual fare was alcohol, so I can't speak TOO much on the food, but the fish and chips I got was good. Expensive for what it was, but good enough that I wasn't complaining. Fish was a litter smaller than what I was expecting. For drinks, we got pitchers, cider, cocktails, and everything was good! Just a nice spot to lounge around while waiting for the ferry or to enjoy the sun! Note: you have to pay for water - they say it's for the ice and cups (so not sure if it's free if you bring your own cup and don't ask for ice?) Would and will return!

Our party of three visited for lunch at noon on a Thursday. Since we had a reservation, we were seated immediately at a lovely table right by the window. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were incredibly courteous and friendly throughout our meal. We initially thought about starting with some small plates, but we were so eager for seafood that we jumped straight into the entrees. We weren't disappointed: Bouillabaisse: This was our first time trying this dish, and it was the highlight for us. It was incredibly flavorful--exactly what we were craving. Spicy Prawn Mac and Cheese: It definitely lived up to its name! It wasn't "blow-your-head-off" hot, but it had a perfect, noticeable kick that really elevated the dish. Blackened Cod Tacos: These were fantastic. The cod was perfectly prepared and worked so well with the rest of the taco ingredients. We also enjoyed a couple of non-alcoholic drinks that hit the spot, though I'll admit that since I'm writing this a couple of weeks later, I forgot to snag photos or the specific names of the drinks! They also have a really nice patio area if you prefer dining outdoors. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a great meal with a view, this place is a must-visit!

They were accommodating and, as if they were old friends, were kind and inclusive. The food was unbelievably great in presentation, flavor, and quantity. I have never had a burger (Bacon Jam) with such succulence and combination of flavors. It was an experience all by itself. I had a side order of the onion soup and it was beyond anything I have eaten in knowing I was getting an originally made onion soup from fresh with the best ingredients. Each was a big enough serving, I had some to take home. One of my friends got the mussels in garlic sauce. The waitress made everything a joyful interaction and the chef served the food. My friend got the mussels in an individual cooking pot. What fun! We had a relaxing time with unforgettably great food in a setting where the staff made our elderly long eating time festive and a memorable event. The Basque Cheesecake was something I've treated myself to again and again. Eating at Blue Heron Bistro was a celebration of friends made more festive and remarkable by food we won't forget.

After noticing that two couples who arrived after us had already been seated, I went back inside to ask about our table. The staff seemed a little irritated by the question, which wasn't a great start to the experience. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly throughout our meal, which I appreciated. However, it took quite a while for our food to arrive, and when it did, it wasn't very hot. I ordered my eggs over medium, but they came out overdone. From what I observed, the kitchen and counter staff seemed somewhat disorganized, which may have contributed to the long wait and cold food. I've heard mixed reviews about this place, and based on my visit, it seems like your experience may depend on the day. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. There are definitely some positives, especially with the waitstaff, but overall the experience fell short of expectations.

The clams were fire but the chowder is the red kind not the white and that would be okay except it is full of cilantro (????) and seasoned like a Masala or Butter Indian sauce. That's a pretty big departure from ANY clam chowder I have ever tasted and definitely needs to be disclosed as it was pricey. We tossed the whole thing.
