I specifically said an hour into the service, I could not afford more than the 3 hour period and there were 4 pieces that needed to be moved upstairs if not anything else. I'm honestly really upset writing this because moving is already stressful enough, and Friends Moving Service made it so much worse. The movers handled my belongings far more carelessly than I expected. They were rough with my mattress, which was frustrating to watch because you expect it to be handled with basic care, not dragged around and treated like it doesn't matter. On top of that, my dining table and chairs were damaged during the move, and the shelf on my Traeger was broken. Seeing multiple items damaged during one move was incredibly disappointing and upsetting. What has made the whole experience even worse is what happened afterward. I am still waiting on the insurance claim to be resolved, which has only added more frustration to an already bad situation. Instead of feeling like this was handled professionally and with urgency, the process has felt stressful and drawn out. I also dealt with Vanessa, the owner, and unfortunately, that did not improve the experience. I understand accidents can happen during a move, but when people are trusting you with their furniture and personal belongings, care and accountability matter. Friend's Moving Service was highly recommended to me by a friend. She and several of her friends had used them before. They're located in the Bay Area. They quoted me $100/hour for two movers with a 3 hour minimum and $50 gas. (Cash price.) There was some slight confusion on the website. When they say number of rooms they don't mean just bedrooms. They are counting living room and kitchen etc. We ended up adding another mover per Tony's suggestion. A side note is I am located more in the North Bay. They are based somewhere around Sunnyvale. So day of the move they were running late. I called Tony after 30-45 minutes past the expected arrival time and he let me know they were on the way but had hit some traffic. That's understandable. These movers are masters of real life Tetris! They crammed everything from a four bedroom house into one truck trip! They were very careful about wrapping up furniture with blankets and moving wrap. Nothing was damaged! They were very communicative about where to unload the large pieces of furniture in the new house. The only qualm I had was they nearly let my dogs escape from the yard multiple times and seemed amused and laughed at my panicked reaction. I had quarantined the dogs in the yard/master bedroom. But they opened the doors to move things through the yard and had the yard gate, sliding doors, and front door all open. (That could have been preventable from my end by having a friend watch the dogs at another location. But my friend and I thought that was very rude...) All in all it's a great value and they get the job done quickly. What would have taken us the entire weekend only took them the late morning to the afternoon. I searched around for movers and got several proposals for a local two stop move. They were mostly in the same range however Tony at Friends Moving quoted 3 movers instead of 2 for just a bit more and this sounded good to me. After experiencing their service with 3 movers I definitely recommend it and Friends Moving. He quoted me three hours min and they finished exactly at 3 hours, although I kept them for 30 min to help me build an IKEA bed. They arrived 15 min early and called me. The first stop was a storage unit where Tony and team helped get out a sofa, shelf and boxed we needed for the new place. They were quick, careful and efficient. I thought it would take an hour to move things around, get the stuff and pack other stuff back but we were in and out in 30 min! 3 movers is a plus. Second stop at my house to pick up my daughter's bedroom. Again very quick, careful wrapping and put into the truck. Finally the move into the new room/office. They covered the wood floor and stairs to protect it. They took good direction on where to put stuff, and got things unpicked quickly. The only hitch was a couch that was a challenge to get around the corner of the stairs and light. They ended up lifting it over a railing. They did slightly scuff the wall, which was no big deal as it just needed a little paint touch up I would do later (things happen during a move, if minor like this folks need to understanding, as it's not a big deal. Everything else was good and they finished right at 3 hours, but as I was building a queen sized IKEA bed I had them help me for 30 more minutes and so glad I did, we made quick work of it. They were upfront about costs, they were quick and hard workers. There weren't any crazy hidden fees, $100 an hour + $50 gas fee, minimum 3 hours. That was reasonable. Tony was one of the few ones who replied to my request for quotes on Yelp for a moving job. First of all, he was the most upfront about anything. He asked relevant clarifying questions to understand your needs and provides competitive upfront prices. He was on time and got the job done very efficiently and without any issues. We had extremely well communication that made the scheduling and coordination of the move very easy. They were professional every step of the way. They moved a donated grand piano from a residential care facility in Redwood City to a beautiful family in Mountain View. This was a very heavy huge grand piano and Tony and team executed so well without any issue. We will definitely use them again for any move needs and will be recommending them to friends and family. Side note: All the other moving company either do not want to provide quotes or have generic responses. I felt like I was getting scammed. Or provided prices that was way too expensive compared to Tony's. It was not fair pricing to my experience and we have moved a lot. They wrapped my couch before I realized it was even happening. 4.5 hours, 3bed 2bath moved door to door. This service included the truck, Dollie's, boxes for misc stuff, blankets, tape, Saran Wrap and expertise. I will send this note, make sure your boxes are market and filled well with padding. They will fill their truck top to bottom and you'll want to make sure everything is ready to be moved. They did not throw anything around and really paid attention to how they were carrying my items and obstacles around them. I had a great experience with Tony and his team. This was my first time using a moving company and they made it so easy for me, and the results were amazing! To book them, it is fairly simple. I talked to them via yelp messages to see what their rate is and what they will be able to service for me. I was fairly confident in what they were able to do for me at an extremely fair rate, so I booked them. Their criteria for booking was super easy, they just asked for the to and from addresses, as well as my name, email, and phone number. I booked them for July 24, and ended up contacting them to move it up to July 18 without any issues. The day before my move on July 18, they texted me to ask if I can start a little later than we initially planned (8am to 1pm). I asked if they can do sometime earlier as I didn't want it to bleed too far into the day. They settled for 12pm and were transparent for the reason why they needed to push it out. The day of the move, they call me at 10am to let me know they can come earlier. This took me by surprise as I was still prepping for the move. They caught me more by surprise when they (3 movers) show up at my door 30 mins earlier than I expected them (expected at 11, showed up at 10:30). I was not that upset as I wanted to do this move as early as possible into the day to leave time to unpack in the late afternoon/evening. To note, I didn't know whether or not I was getting 2 or 3 movers, that wasn't communicated but I was happy that there were 3 as it helped speed things up more than just 2. They started immediately with asking what they need to move. They put in moving blankets and brought in all their necessary gear to make sure none of my furniture gets damaged, including saran wrap, moving blankets and trolleys. It took them 1 hour and 20 mins to load my 1bedroom worth of crap and some living room furniture into their large truck (that can easily move 2-3bedroom worth of stuff i think). They also helped my former housemate by moving a piece of furniture that she wanted to move downstairs. They were exceedingly friendly. My destination location was 30 minutes away, and they arrived quite promptly. During the unloading, they asked where to put everything before they left, and were done within 40 mins. Overall, they spent a little over 3 hours on my move, and they made it so seamless, and I noticed no damage (so far, it's only been several days). They were very clear with communication and tried to ask as many questions, not assuming as much. I was so impressed with this service, I highly recommend them! read more
