Enter Oakland Rooter & Plumbing. Jose, the plumber that came to service my kitchen plumbing, was kind, professional and very skillful. He explained how he was diagnosing the situation and the process of elimination he was going through to get to the bottom of the issue. I especially appreciated that as a woman that loves learning about how things work. Jose answered all my questions and had some great analogies to explain the plumbing situation. I also appreciated that there was no upselling. Jose was clear about the tiers of support and associated costs and was honest about his recommendations and what would help. This Arco gets bonus points from me for having squeegees, windshield fluid and paper towels. A lot of gas stations I've been to doesn't even have these things available. They do have an air and water machine but the water was not working. Unfortunately it's not free to operate. Both air and water requires separate payments of $2 in quarters or $2.50 if paying by card.

So I stooped over the counter finally and asked him if he could help me. He was very gruff and asked what I wanted I told him I needed a key for my mailbox. He asked me to show me what he needed. I didn't know if he wanted me to come around the counter because he wasn't getting up. It didn't seem appropriate to go on the other side of the counter, so I stayed where I was and didn't know if he was being funny or what his issue was. And then I showed him the different parts to the box that I need and he said I would need a whole new lock to put into the box. So he gets up and gets the package of the set that I need. It shows a price on the package, but he said that's not the right price. I asked him so what is the right price and it was about a dollar more so. I said that's fine. I just wanted to get what I needed and leave at that point. Because he wasn't very pleasant at all. I told him I could pay with my debit card. So he had the machine in front of him and told me to tap my card which I did. Then I was surprised when he asked me for my pin number . Thank goodness, I wasn't intimidated and gave it to him. Instead, I leaned over Covered the number number area with my hand and put in my code myself. I just thought it was so odd and rude of him to ask me for my pin . I'll never go back there again. He seemed very bothered to have me in his shop, was so reluctant to get up from his stool, and it was very awkward when he asked me for my pin number.

AND Home Depot couldn't make a special mailbox key. So I finally wised up to the idea of going to a REAL key maker/ smith, just the good ole days with father as a child. It's been so long, I wasn't sure that they even existed anymore. But here this place is. A throwback to the 1980s if you will. The place definitely has that run down feel where REAL people do REAL work fixing things. The gentleman who helped me appeared tired and ill but nonetheless he soldiered on with basically one hand made like 3 sets of keys for me. And they ALL work!!! [applause] These people use the good ole grinder and have hundreds and hundreds of stock key blanks. AND they are cheaper than Home Depot. My final thumb drive was missing one of the digitized files, and they were very quick to figure out what went wrong and fix it. I really appreciate all their help and I will be bringing them more movies soon. I love that they are local to me, and so I don't have to rely on USPS to ship my family treasures.

The customer service here is abysmal. I called this place 4 times in the afternoon (well after…read moreopening hours) to inquire about film processing because their website is unclear on their services. No one picked up every time, they even just sent me straight to voicemail. I end up just driving over to find the place is not busy at the slightest. They just ignore calls. I decided to make the drive out here and just talk to them in person. I've never met someone more dismissive in my life. The owner cuts off everyone who speaks to him. Right in front of me there was a sweet old woman who noticed there was a cash discount that was posted on the well after she handed over her film, she kindly asked to pay in cash for the discount and the owner told her "Nah I already typed in your order I'm not changing it." Shoo's her away after that exchange, and then says goodbye calling her by her first name. Which tells me this is a regular customer that he treats like trash. I'm next, I pull out my super 8 film and before I can even ask a question he says "nah we don't do those you have to go somewhere else" Which is fine. Not everyone processes super 8 (even though the website says they do,) which is an old medium. But the delivery and customer service were horrible. Someone should have answered the phone in the first place so I wouldn't be here "bothering" this guy on his very busy day of sitting around doing nothing. Also, This guys website shouldn't be coded/designed like a 6th grader did it, so that way the information can be clear and easy to read. Their website explicitly says "We transfer 8mm and 16mm film" which makes me believe this owner is just lazy and chooses not to work. It's sad really, the film medium is a dying industry and there are very few people who can be there to revive this medium and unfortunately this one in the Bay Area can choose to help this art form, but instead they choose to be a lazy business owner who has disdain for people who want to support his dying business. I've received better customer service from fast food chains than this place. If/when his business fails it's not because of a lack of customers or demand of services. But at the fault of a pathetic and bitter business owner who does not deserve it. To everyone reading I recommend looking for mail in film transfer. They are much more accommodating than this pathetic place.
