Valentines catering to go! It was busy when I came to pick up my food but busy is great for business! I came to pick up my Valentine order. Special kudos to Nick from me. This young man has been taught so well. So sweet and wonderful to see generations of love and respect to patrons in plus being genuine. Thank you for letting this cook enjoy beautiful food from your kitchen to my table.

Here's what my sandwich ejaculated all over the wrapper as I was eating it. Artless slop.

In a city full of disappointing options, this place disappointed me more than most. I've had their cold cut sandwiches before, they are OK. Today I thought I'd mix it up with a Nicks Spicy Pollo, a hot grilled chicken sandwich. What a disaster. They microwaved the not grilled chicken breast until it was dry and stringy and hard to eat. The sandwich was flooded with some kind of dripping sauce that kept squirting out with every bite. I probably ruined a shirt after my first bite and I know I ruined my appetite because I will never order this sandwich again and I probably won't be coming back here for a very long time - until I'm extremely desperate. Which frankly in this shit hole of a food town, desperation comes regularly when you are confronted with the stunning mediocrity of every restaurant here.

The line out the door doesn't lie! This place is a gem and should not be missed. It's got the old school vibe and decor. So many prepared food options and yummy grocery items. The star of the show is the sandwiches - so packed with meat and flavor and perfectly customizable to your tastes.

5 stars might be an understatement. When my boyfriend lived in Springfield, we'd come to Frigos on almost every one of my visits to town. Their sandwiches are all fantastic, the prepared food is fresh and their groceries are like taking a mini vacation to Italy. I love how authentic it feels in there. On our drive from Jersey to New Hampshire, we were going right through Springfield around lunch time and there was no question where we'd be picking up a food for the road. They have a parking lot right behind the and masks were worn by everyone. Also, guests in line were very respectful of keeping a distance. On this particular pitstop I just got a couple sandwiches but they were amazing, just like they always are! I got a turkey sandwich with all of the veggies on a roll and YUM. Nothing like a good deli sandwich. If you are driving through the area, from the area, whatever, this is a good place to get lunch and some dried pasta for later.

I just enjoyed a very delicious grinder from here. We ordered both the ultimate veggie sandwich and also a tuna grinder with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and red peppers; excellent! Also got some to go stuff for the family like a piece of their veg lasagna and a grilled chicken salad for my brother. Everything came out super reasonably priced. They had just gotten a shipment of really delicious olive oil from Sicily, and we were able to try some and it was incredible. Workers were so nice and easy to talk to, we were there for a while just chatting. What a hidden gem!!! I can't wait to go back.

For a deli that seeming has a good reputation the sandwich I ordered should be considered an embarrassment by any self respecting grinder shop. Doughy, bland hero roll with hardly any meat (this is definitely not Katz's deli). Mead and cheese microwaved then put on bread with barely a trace of kraut. I guess it's an error to order non Italian hero in an obviously Italian deli but subway does better than this. Oh, there's no restroom for paying customers either.

I ordered a sandwich online since I work nearby. The place is an old school deli. There wasn't an obvious place to pick up my food so I had to wait in line; Kind of defeats the purpose of pre-ordering. When I got back to the office I noticed the pickle which I paid an extra $2 for wasn't included. No napkins in the bag either. The sandwich was loaded in sauce. Not sure what the guy who made it was thinking. Plenty of good food in downtown Springfield. I would recommend skipping Frigo's.

We ordered a cucumber salad, chicken panini with onions (I didnt realize that caramelized onions was an option!), The Green Goddess was delicious....with fresh veggies (spinach, mozzarella, ricotta and spinich with avocado and pesto) and incredible taste! Little Havana was our last choice and that included roasted pork, shaved ham, swiss cheese, pickles and dijon mustard. Again a big hit...delicious and some to take for later! We sat down and one of the tables and enjoyed our lunch and the incredible lunch crowd! Lots of drinks to choose from, as well. I am so glad that we made it here. Once again, she pushed and she pushed other items after I told her a couple of times that she was serving me already too much.  She finally stopped and packed the food up with the grinders that we ordered.  When we checked out the total bill came up to $54 for two grinders and that box of food we really didn't want to get.    Now let's talk about the food.  The cold cut grinder I ordered was good.  The Sausage and Pepper grinder (a hot grinder) was not even warm but COLD and the cheese wasn't even melted!  The items that we were, lets say, "forced" to get were the broccolini, meatballs, and pasta salad.  But to our surprise we found two large slices of garlic bread in the box that we never asked for, nor even seen her put in it.  Maybe to weigh down the food?  I don't know.  But the broccolini, was overcooked.  Meatballs were cold, and the pasta salad was ok.  It is so disappointing to see that the food that was supposed to be hot was in fact cold.    I honestly feel that we were hustled at this establishment.  Friendly staff but very pushy.  And all of the hot items of food were cold, and hardly think that the price we paid was worth it.

Regardless, I had to see for myself if it was going to meet expectations. Not only did it meet expectations, it surpassed them and maybe even brought a tear to my eye during lunch (alright that's exaggerating). The grinders are hefty and worth the price and are made with Boar's Head product. The menu isn't too large but it makes picking easier plus there are specials. Inside the deli is a surprisingly cozy and rustic atmosphere and everyone working was very nice and polite. So far the Italian stallion and B52 steam bomb sandwiches are excellent (and tough to finish in one sitting) and the firesmith chicken was quite good as well. It will now be a regular spot for my work crew and for a satisfying lunch while out on Memorial Drive. I hope the word about this place spreads so it can be a local staple. I mainly visited since it was nearby, but also because they offered a standout Ruben, keyword 'offered' as in they don't have it anymore. My colleague loves Reubens but he ended up having to order something else furing our visit. This ended up being a good thing because he was super happy with his choice afterward. I looked over the menu and there were other menu items also crossed off, but still plenty of options to choose from. Their burgers are handpressed but only 6 oz. That is a little small for me, especially when I'm hungry. After conversing with the gentleman behind the counter about my options, we both agreed I should go with the spicy fried chicken sandwich. I ordered the spicy fried chicken sandwich which comes with homemade fries and their homemade green tea with ginger and mint. My colleague ordered the pork cutlet sandwich and said it was amazing due to the apple chunks on the sandwich. Both were actually daily specials listed on their board to the right of the menu. My sandwich was quite large and spicy with the fresh jalapenos and a spicy sauce. It reminded me of the large chicken sandwich at Longhorn Steakhouse, but this one was even larger and better. The fries are fresh cut which made this meal perfect. This restaurant is truly nothing special from the outside appearance and both my colleague and I even thought it looked closed when we were driving by. He also said he doubts they have any seating, but we were both wrong. Don't doubt yourself about this restaurant. It is a truly hidden gem with some uniquely prepared foods waiting inside. They had limited beverages. I wanted regular iced tea, but ended up with the homemade green tea with mint and ginger which was pretty good, but no free refills. Service was of course excellent. I interacted with the gentleman a couple more times as I knew I'd need a lot more napkins to tackle this food.
