On the ninth day, God created Frigo's. In all seriousness, I've lived in Springfield for the past 8 years and haven't experienced Frigo's until today. I went in to see what I could get for lunch and I tried (more like devoured) the Dirty Italian sandwich. Perfectly crafted balance of meats/cheese/veggies/bread/dressing... It totally puts the so-called "authentic" Italian delis on Long Island to shame! I also got a traditional chicken parm sandwich for my wife and she loved it. They have so much to choose from in such a small place, but take your time checking out all of the options. You can't really say you've had a great sandwich until you've eaten something from Frigo's! My co-workers brought me to this place because they insisted I try it. While I thought they had a large variety of food, there wasn't anything that really jumped out to me. I ended up getting the Springfield College Chief. I was nervous and curious at the same time about a sandwich with honey mustard and BBQ sauce. While the sandwich wasn't bad I don't know that I will be returning anytime soon. Because so many people in Mass seemed to enjoy this place, I would say check it out if you are in the area. This store can provide you with sliced cold cuts, assorted cheeses, make you a delicious sandwich, and has a wide variety of prepared foods! What ever you select will be good. Originally, i loved this little deli. Their wraps were delicious, and it's the only place i've ever been to that has gluten-free wraps that DON'T fall apart. however, after a few times going, the service got extremely slow and our wraps were very soggy; we got wraps without roast beef/tomato just to see if it was a standards thing, and we quickly became unsatisfied with the service and quality of preparation. on the other hand, their homemade kettle chips are pretty magical. read more

Been going to frigos for years as I grew up in East Longmeadow. I went in this past weekend and was not impressed. I ordered a hot cut and a veggie (toasted) the person who waited on me was SO Slow, I am talking like - 5 people who ordered after me left before she was even done wrapping my sandwich (and they all ordered multiple sandwiches) I understand people are new and may be training but this was just absurd. (The place was not crowded btw) next she made my veggie I wanted it toasted, well 10 minutes later the hot press wasn't working by the point I just said wrap it up and I'll take it. Get it Home and ummmmm would you like any other veggies and cheese with your bread loaf full of black olives???? Yuck. No cheese. No mushrooms. Just a tomato and all black olives. Couldn't even eat it. Plus, their fridge case was looking pretty unwelcoming. Won't be going back for awhile. read more

This location is just as good as East Longmeadow, which was the first location we tried. Everything is wonderful. I highly recommend the Tanglewood with pickles on a half Vienna roll. Their homemade chips are awesome and the giant cookies for $1.50 can't be beat. I really want to try their brownie. Oh, and the cannoli cookies are so light and delicious it's hard to stop downing them. My parents loved the fish and chips Friday special- got it every Friday while they were here visiting. read more

Best place in Western Massachusetts to get cured meats and aged cheeses for an authentic antipasto. How many delis in this part of the world have more than one kind of prosciutto? Frigo's has 3 or 4. And try the dry cured whole sopressata. But be warned, once your family tries the cold cuts from Frigo's they'll never want the stuff from Big Y again. And if you've ever had one of those limp cherry peppers stuffed with cheese that comes in a jar of olive oil from the grocery store, do yourself a favor and try the fresh stuffed hot peppers at Frigo's. This place is amazing! Was traveling from new haven to Vermont and found this place on Yelp. They have prepared food which I most definitely try this time around. I'll be visiting again today! But I had a sub and my mom had the lobster roll but he prepared food section.. Both were amazing. Frigo has some great food. And they make it easy to order trays for large parties. They even deliver! For a small fee of course. I ordered an x-large chicken-shrimp-broccoli-ziti; an x-large eggplant Parmesan; and an x-large meatball for a party of 40. It was way too much food. Large sizes of all would have been fine. We had side dishes and other food to pick from, too. The eggplant parm and meatballs were big hits. The chicken-shrimp-broccoli-ziti not so much. It had small cubes of chicken, large plump shrimp (about 2 dozen in the x-large tray), sparse showing of broccoli and 80% ziti! Next time I would order a chicken or meat dish and drop the pasta. Ordering was easy over the phone. It was ready when I went to pick them up (I got them cold so I could heat them the next day). Overall, I'm very satisfied. And it saved me a ton of time for not having to prepare and cook! read more

This a a great little food specialty store in Springfield and one in East Longmeadow . The food is fresh and there is a great variety. At lunch time there is always a line for sandwiches. If sandwiches are not your thing there are lots of options like chicken parmigiana, salads, and other various offerings as well as great meals to take home for dinner. Aside from the sandwiches and specialty items offered, there is all kinds of pasta, wines and Italian ingredients available to purchase. Love the local neighborhood feel to this place, especially the outdoor seating which adds to the authentic Italian vibe. Best grinders, and one might even say "food" in general around. Service was much nicer than the East Longmeadow store. Also, was the selection and even the prices. I still don't get the food left out on top of the counter not refrigerated. Bread is always fresh, and meat is sliced to order for your grinder. If you can't find something for lunch or dinner here there's something wrong with you. This is a typical full scale Italian can get pretty much anything you want that would normally be found in an Italian kitchen here. They must make truly good sandwiches because at lunch time there is always a fast moving line of folks lined up to order hot and co,d style sandwiches. Can be pricey, but it's all original and real. Yelp pointed me in the right direction with all of these great reviews for Frigo. We were driving through Springfield and stopped in for a quick lunch on our way north. They have a huge selection here of sandwiches, pasta, pizza and all kinds of pre-made dinners. It was very convenient and well priced. I ordered a chicken parm grinder. The sauce was pretty good, chicken was perfect and the bread was really nice. The sandwich was good and STUFFED. The hubby opted for a special with all kinds of Italian meats/cheeses. He was really happy and could only eat half of his grinder before he got full. We also grabbed a bag of homemade potato chips, which were phenomenal. The parking was convenient (they have their own lot), service was friendly, and the location is very close to the highway. They had a small table where you could sample some wine/cheese. I'm still kicking myself for not purchasing the Vermont cheddar and red wine that we sampled. They had a tray of cannoli next to the register that I would have loved to try too. This is Italian food done right. I will definitely stop here again the next time we are in town. read more

Consistency is the issue here. We've bought from the display case and 2 out of three were excellent. The first and second chicken franc. were excellent. The third had unflavored juice. Lasagna was the same. The lasagna bought out of the case was superb. We ordered a tray of it for $40 and it should have come with soup spoons. They advertise a 1lb meatball, but when we ordered it we got 1lb of meatballs. The other bothering detail is that the case counter is way too high and blocks any visual contact with the order taker. It's like someone talking to you, but you don't know who. This doesn't help communication with the new help that really don't know what they're doing. We're done with this place for a while, but the next time we get something it will involve management. read more

Traveled from Alstead NH to Springfield in search of a great Italian deli. We are from NYC and use to better than good. Frigo's food was good. We picked up the makings of an antipasto platter for a get together at our house ; marinated artichokes, salamis -soppressata , prosciutto, olives, Parmesan and Asiago cheeses, etc. Asked for the pitted olives which upon arrival at home were with pits, UGH. The cheeses were good just not as creamy as I am use too! Italian pasta was great, use wished they had a better selection of fresh pasta. Looked like they do a stellar sandwich business but we didn't have any. Maybe next time. And, wished they had seeded breads - at 12noon they had run out!! Really!! Guess we will have to drive to Boston for our next try for the perfect Italian deli!! read more

Frigo's has been consistently good every time I go. I love their sandwiches, but all their meals to go are also amazing. I went in one afternoon and they had fresh lemonade...so good. They have a really cool selection of imported foods and wines and a nice cheese selection, too. So glad I live nearby so that I can keep visiting for years to come! read more
