Dum dum surprise in my fries!
    Lynn C.

Ordered from here the other day for delivery. They delivered in less than 20 minutes. Got the grassfed angus burger...DELICIOUS! And the spicy seasoned belgian style fries...AMAZING!! To top it off they put a dum dum in my fries! Will definitely order from them again and again and again!!

Burgers are a serious thing in NY. With competition left and right to create the best ones and the variety of choices, a new competitor has a lot to face. So I applaud Frites'N'Meats (btw, I LOVE the name) and their endeavor to "save the world one burger at a time". First, because they're new to the scene, the line/wait is about 30 to 45 plus the time to order and grill. It's a long wait but for something so fresh to the scene, I thought it was worth the wait. The service was impeccable, the smell of the grilling burgers were very nice, and honestly, you're also supporting a small business. Which I approve greatly! And although the fryer was out of order (no Belgian fries and sassy sauces!!!), what should have mattered was that this place really does what it offers...burgers. I ordered the grass-fed angus ($5.50) on brioche with some blue cheese, tomato, musclum greens, savory onion jam, and applewood smoked bacon. Plus a Mash mango/blood orange soda. The basic toppings are free but each "special" topping were an additional charge of $0.50 or $0.75. But I've learned...that's what usually makes the difference between a fine and a good burger. So, would I try this place again? Perhaps. But if the line was shorter. And if the fryer worked.

Working in the area, most places are very touristy and it bothers me. I like places that are more local and original than a bunch of franchises. Luckily, this truck is right by on Mondays from 11-3PM. But you should check out their site just in case there are any changes in their locations. So I came here on Monday. It was so darn cold. There were a couple of people in line ahead of me. So since it was my first time getting food from this truck, I was told to circle what I want on a plastic card. The card also need you to include your superhero name, which I thought was very witty and cute. So I circled what I want and wrote "Smiley" as my superhero name and gave the guy the card. I stood aside waiting for my burger and fries to cook. It was very frigidly cold. It was so cold my hands turned pink, but even on this very cold day there were many people buying lunch from this truck. Which means this should be good stuff. When my order was finally ready, the guy called out "Smiley!" And when I approached the truck he asked if I was Smiley and I said yes with a great big smile and he chuckled. But hey that's what I am known for, my smile. I took my paper bagged lunch and hurried back to the office, so my food won't get cold or maybe so I won't freeze. I opened the paper bag and laid everything out on my desk. The burger was pretty big. It was medium rare, just the way I like it. The burger was very juicy and tender. The juice from the burger drips down with each bite. I love brie and I never had it with a burger, but it was one of the option for cheeses. The melted brie oozes each time I chomped on the burger. I also added applewood-smoked bacon to my burger, which was pretty good. However the bacon was a slight bit tough to chew. The handcut double fried Belgian frites were really crispy and delicious. Luckily, this truck is only here on Mondays or else I'll get tired of them really fast. And they throw in a lollipop to your lunch, that is really sweet of them! =)

Grass fed angus, cheddar and pickles. Classic!

I have officially seen the light. I snuck out of work, blinded by my PMS cravings and followed my nose like a fucking toucan. Thankfully it didn't lead me to fruit but instead directly into the grilled-beef-fat cloud that was this food truck. A relapsed vegetarian ..... again. I hang my head in shame while shoving my mouth with a crispy yet tender burger hugged gently in a sesame bun. The edge of the patty was the best part, perfectly salted and tasty. I don't want to go back but I know I will in exactly a month. See you then. *walks away defeated*

Ordering process is simple and aamzing... just write down your superhero name with a sharpie on a card. circle what you want.. pre-thought out creations.. or one of your own.... hand it do the guy with your money and wait. I went with the Skirt steak burger with Gruyere cheese. Which was very good... but a little tough to eat as you will end up ripping the steak out of the bun and bite off more then you can chew. The taste was good. But i was disapointed not to find any guacamole on it. But very happy to see skirt steak burger on the menu. which isnt a burger but a skirt steak on a bun.. im not sure why i keep calling it a burger. Cost 10 dollars.

This was the first food truck I tried at the Mex Fest Food Truck Event this past weekend. My boyfriend & I were hungry and this was one of the food trucks we saw first, so decided to give it a shot. My boyfriend ordered an: Angus skirt-steak sandwich on brioche bun with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, and pickles. The burger pretty big and a good size. I ordered an: Angus skirt-steak sandwich on brioche bun with lettuce, onion, tomatoes, pickle, and bacon. I hardly order anything with bacon only because it's not good for you. The burger was excellent! It was definitely one of the better burgers I've had. It was juicy, voluptuous, tasty, and divine! We decided to order their "Double fried Belgian style frites". It was served in a cone, which was interesting and different than how I'm used to. OH MY GOD, these were literally the BEST fries I've ever had. They look like McDonald's fries, but way better because they were light yellow and perfectly salted and just so so so crispy. We didn't even need to season it with additional salt or pepper because it was up to par! Frites 'n' Meats is a definitely must-visit for burgers and frites because it's just amazing here. I sure hope I run into them again because I keep dreaming about their deliciously amazing frites.

    special of the day good!

Quality burgers, cooked well, gourmet toppings and great fries Got the Smithland special today, with brioche bun, Gouda cheese, and fried onions. Not one part of the meal disappointed me. The burger was juicy and tender, and the bun held the toppings very well. The fries were very crispy and seasoned well and the horseradish aioli was really good i would only say that i don't believe burgers should ever cost more then a whole meal that I could get at another truck. Don't get me wrong, I will be coming down to the truck no matter what the price is to get a burger from here, just because it tastes great, and I am a sucker for a good burger, but I don't love spending 13 bucks for a burger and fries when I am buying it at a food truck not restaurant

    Yummm

I order my Burger well done, ...and its AMAZING, perfect every time & and juicy! The Fries are to die for!!!! Must have every Wednesday!!!!!

This is definitely a savior for the Columbia U students and staff who are limited to the usual barrage of Halal trucks and standard counter delis. Frites 'n' Meats comes to town once a week for lunch and we at CU are glad to have them. The burgers are great quality and are made to order (as long as you provide your superhero name) and the frites are the best within the one mile radius. Be sure to try their burgers of the week and grab some garlic aioli for the frites. This truck is going to be a solid competitor for the new 5-Guys slated to open a mere five blocks away. Be sure to bring your hole punched card when you go back so you can earn yourself a free burger!

It featured a crispy, sugar-glazed exterior and a soft, chewy interior, topped with truffle cheese and served with a truffle butter dip; the pairing was superb, and it tasted great both on its own and with the dip. For the main course, I ordered the miso-glazed black cod. The flavor was flawless, and while the portion was small (which was acceptable), the pool of broth accompanying it was completely unnecessary; it was inedibly salty, so what was the point of serving it? After finishing the fish, I was left with a plate full of broth, rendering the plate unusable. Plus, it was overpriced; for this dish, you're better off going to Strip House Strip House remains the undisputed king of this dish in New York. A friend ordered the chicken parmesan. It was just average. Another friend ordered the short rib stroganoff. The flavor was decent, but it was far too rich and heavy. As someone whose palate is split 50/50 between Western and Chinese cuisine, I could manage only five bites at most. If you have a palate that prefers 100% Chinese food, proceed with caution on this dish. Friends ordered sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. These are dishes originally meant for low-income Americans to fill up on cheaply; there's no limit to how good they can be, but also no floor to how bad they can get. Both were on par with the average quality found in upscale restaurants. Honestly, these are two dishes I would never order myself. To sum up: the atmosphere was great. It's also hard to get a reservation; the place was packed when we had lunch at 2 PM. Aside from that monkey bread, I didn't feel like anything else justified the price or offered something you couldn't find elsewhere. I don't quite get the hype. Perhaps I just didn't order the right dishes; maybe next time I'll try the burger and the steak.

The Thick Cut Bacon (8.5/10) was sweet, crunchy, and cooked perfectly. The Wagyu Cheeseburger (7.5/10) tasted good, but the bun was too dry, dense, and oversized for the burger. The King Crab Rangoon (8/10) was packed with crab, almost too much for my taste, but the sweet chili and hot mustard sauces balanced it out nicely. The Espresso Martini (6/10) was a pretty standard espresso martini. The Long Island Cold Brew (3/10) tasted like cold brew mixed with vodka, which just wasn't for me. Service was fine overall (7/10). The highlight was the complimentary sorbet they brought out for my friend's birthday. The vibes were classic Hogsalt with dim lighting, old-school jazz, and a cozy atmosphere (7/10).

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor.
