Before COVID-19: This is a straight up, no frills Filipino restaurant and bakery and has been in Woodside for decades! It's quite tight inside with a few tables available. The food here changes as it is a turo turo (point which dish you want from the cafeteria style selection) with staples like taho. Unfortunately every time I went, the taho would be sold out! It was only one time I was able to get a cup full... And wow, it brought back happy memories of the Philippines. Taho isn't made often in the surrounding restaurants or even in the city or other locations in Queens. They also have various breads sold here like fresh pandesal, shakoy, and siopao and the typical kakanin like puto or sapin sapin. Come early if you want to get that bread! Probably the best Filipino bakery in NY/NJ area. The breads and pastries makes you miss home. Ube breads are the best! Location: It is located in Roosevelt along all the Filipino stores and restaurants. The taho are outside of the store. Service: she was nice. Filipino hospitality at its best! Food: The breads are delicious, fluffy and still good after few days. UBE PANDESAL: to me this was the best I had unlike online seller this has visible cheese and ube jam inside the bread. Heat it up in the microwave for 10 seconds and devour its goodness. TAHO: how i miss taho in the Philippines, this breakfast drink is all about my country. Those soft tofu top with boba and syrup is just what I want in my life. Lol. Price rating: 5/10, not that bad for Filipino food cravings. Definitely will eat more here and try more of their breads!! If I could rate this place lower than this, I would. We always do parties during holidays and birthdays, and living in NYC and being busy with work and stuff, we always order food to serve. We ordered three trays of different viands from their menu for Christmas, one was 'Bistek', the other was Dinuguan, and the third which was the disaster: KARE-KARE. To cut the story short, they had sold a spoiled tray of food and expecting no repercussions from it. Not even apologetic when my friend called them up to inform them about it, they shrugged their shoulders on it implying that it was our problem not theirs. I only go here for the taho honestly. I get discourage each time i encounter the lady who looks chinese, but is filipino, who speaks tagalog, and always multitasking, and every time you ask her anything she always doesnt understand you regardless of tagalog or english use. Stop face timing while working, maybe then youd understand what customers are trying to convey! Otherwise, the taho is decent; closest version from what i grew up but the price is ridiculously expensive! I can get the XL they sell for more than $12 in flushing for less than $5!!!!! read more

Customer's BEWARE!!!!!! I ate here a while ago.. And paid my bill in the register. I saw the amount in the machine it was $20+ so i paid it using my card.. After signing the reciept i just put it in my pocket without checking it. After my meal i grab my phone together with the reciept. And I notice that the amount in the reciept is different from the food i ordered. They charge me $50+ I approach the cashier complaining about my bill.. And we told me that he input the wrong amount. He uses my last four digits of my credit card. I think he intentionally put the last 4 digits of my card so that just in case i complain he has a good reason for it. This is a Filipino bakery that also sells hot food. I have only had their baked goods as the reviews for the hot stuff are so-so. They have the usual stuff - ensaimada, cheese bread, pan de sal, hopia, mamon, and more. The baked goods are all prepackaged in plastic wraps or plastic boxes. I have tried several of their offerings and had mixed results. Sometimes the baked goods are dry and hard and other times they are great. It seems they leave the stuff out for awhile, so it's the luck of the draw on how fresh it is. read more

This is my go to Filipino turo turo restaurant. Every single dish I have eaten from here is just pure perfection. I just hope they'll bring back their weekend lechon, coz filipinos got no where to buy lechon per pound whenever we are craving for it without buying the while lechon lol... I stopped by because Kabayan was closed and they offer similar options. I've eaten here 3 times and will probably never return. While they have a large selection, the food is never fresh. Some of the dishes are served lukewarm, and on the last visit, my chicken tinola was spoiled. I asked if I could swap out the rancid chicken and they were kind enough to let me, but instead of tasting the pot of chicken for themselves, they continued to serve it to people ordering to go. Not cool. Two stars because I'm still a fan of their whole wheat pandesal. I do not recommend their turo-turo dishes. read more

I was on my way to visit my friend who lives 3 blocks away & i saw another friend on the street, who then recommended me to this place, which outside wasn't really that appealing----nothing much really, just a basic food place that has made do with less frills & design to attract attention to a chunk of the captive market in this area----i decided i'd like to have dinner before proceeding to my friend's place. well, my simple dinner turned out to be great! of course, this is not home style cooking----mainly dishes that have been adjusted to meet taste buds of the whimsical market (who always demands so much in exchange for so little amount of money to pay LOL). they had this meal package where you choose among what's prepared and ready for the day----i had 3 varieties of meat (pork, beef) dishes that could have caused me more cholesterol troubles but why should i care at that time? i mean, it's seldom that i get to have these dishes unless i'm with other Filipinos....so i took the chance LOL. service was OK, attentive, actually....i just hope the staff are actually having fun doing their work-----they have that awkward look, & trying too hard to please (and attempting to win us all by not saying anything off, thus they look not so authentic)----just enjoy the work, and it'll show---and speak up what's in your mind, guys! I had their Lomi and it was very delicious. It had lots of meat and they were very generous with the portion. I also like the breakfast combo. Weird experience. Walked in here to get a few ensaymadas. When I went to pay one girl was standing behind the counter turned away and doing makeup or something. The other guy back there also just stood there without really doing/saying anything. As somebody who worked in food place before, it seems unprofessional to just stand around/do your makeup while there are customers at the register. Finally a third girl in the back noticed me and quickly ran over. Ensaymadas were okay nothing special. I prefer Krystals down the street. read more

I frequented Fritzies for over a year now and recently I have gone back after a 3 month lull. What a disapointment the past four times, including tonight. The selection was awful, the same line up day after day, with no new dishes. Same old stuff every day. If the taste and freshness were decent, I would not have written a negative review. They are missing one chef and what they do is make a HUGE load of the food and store it in a tubware waiting to get cold and old. The quality of the food has gone downhill. The rice tonight was old and dry. I don't recommend. I probably will not be going back anytime soon. Fritzies you need to bring the good old days back! You are losing customers! Its a misleading name..but Fritzies is really what Filipinos call "turo-turo"...meaning point-point. They have all the savoury dishes all ready made and all u do is point to it and its served up! No wait..no figuring out menus. Just good food FAST! They open at the crack of dawn and the workers are friendly and helpful and the prices are very affordable. And yes they have baked goods....which are very good. This time, I'll be sweeter. I invited my bf here and we ordered 1 three combo meal w/ soda & rice and shared it. It's enough for us because we had a hearty lunch meal and the time came by for dinner was a little bit early. But anyhow, the food was not salty but perfectly seasoned and tasty. The name is misleading because they serve more than baked goods but also hot meals. It's a casual and clean joint within this one-block mini-"Flip" enclave, but worth a stop for lunch/dinner if you're not in the mood to cook and just have a home cooked meal. My mother picked me up and we had an early dinner here yesterday after my hard day of saturday cycling and we each had the combo meal for $7.60 which is a complete meal and drink and comes with a selection of three entrees. Where else can you get that? I decided to come back for lunch because I had to pass up brunch and lunch with my running pals b/c I'm the only one who had to do a horrible Sunday long run and I'd feel guilty drinking my mimosa knowing I was supposed to do that. After my work in Manhattan I always come here to buy cook food in bulk, the food was great, it's just that they need to be careful on scooping the food outside its service container, there are incident that I order food and drops of it are going to other food items, I know they follow the temperature set by the department of health but they just need to be careful on causing cross contamination, because it's not just the first time it happen. I myself can tolerate that, but they need to be careful with other costumers who cannot tolerate that. Fritzie's Bake Shop is a Filipino bakery as well as an eat-in place for people who want a meal. I didn't sample the meal deals yet, but I have been eating the pastries. When you come in, there is shelving with pastries wrapped up and other pastries in plastic containers .The wrapped pastries all contain a small card, listing the bakery, product and ingredients. It must be very time consuming to wrap each pastry with tiny card inserts into each wrapper, but I must admit, it is much more hygenic then leaving the pastries out like most of the Chinese bakeries do. They have mamons, hopias, banana pound cake, chocolate pound cake, pound cake, ensaymada, pan de sal,star bread, and other goodies. For the second time, I came when they brought out bitso-bitso (donut) and I couldn't resist and had it both times, when they were fresh and still very warm . Their banana pound cake looks like a small brick, but when you actually eat it, it is light and airy. The mamon is much smaller than Krystal's, but I like the taste of Fritzie's mamon better. The texture is delicate and the sponge cake very refine. They have a good variety of pastries on the shelves, I spent some time just ogling the pastries and soaking in the sight. read more

I bought a cake for my son's birday today i ordered chocolate cake since last saturday and they told me to pick it up monday at 10:00 am. The cake was not done when my husband went to pick it up and he waited for almost an hour cause they said they were busy that day. When we got the cake i was surprise because its not chocolate, it was burned and the design was horrible my 6 years old son can do better design than what they did. i used to buy food here almost everyday, the service was good then, they gave you good portions especially when you buy the combo (2 dishes w/ rice and soda included)....but lately, after having new employees, ( they have 2 boys and one bald headed guy manning the counter), the portions went downhill. they give you small portions, serve you food that has been sitting on the counter for the whole day and a small rice bowl. they even started charging 75 cents for take out containers. i don't know what happened to fritzies but they are losing their value, to add insult to injury, they have a "C" grade posted by the door. read more

We always frequented this joint but in their Bergenfield branch. It is our first time in the NY branch and oh boy the food and service is good. The price is very reasonable too. I went last Saturday 06/13/15 to picked up my lechon which I ordered 3 days prior to my birthday occasion. I called before I went there to confirm my order for pick up and they said yes. When I get there the lady took my credit card and charge my card right away. After few minutes the lady told that my order was given to somebody else. I asked her how did that happened since you confirmed that with me and charged me right away? I told her that your reason is unacceptable! How could you run a business like this ruining people special occasion! And they even have the nerve to asked me if i'm willing to wait for an hour and a half to make a new one and I asked her directly are you sure you can do that and she can't even answered me. After that I told her to give me credit on my card.I strongly not recommending this place to anybody for their poor service! If there's zero rating here that what they deserved!
