Service was pretty good, drinks were decent as were the deviled eggs. The fried Mac n cheese had no flavor. The spicy chicken sandwich was greasy, tough, over salted and just unpleasant. The fries with the chicken sandwich were inedible; luke warm greasy and soggy. Requested crispy fires - again greasy and still NOT crispy. Hands down the worst fried chicken sandwich I've ever attempted to eat. The place was busy and the cooks weren't letting the frying oil get hot enough to cook anything properly. Visited this restaurant tonight for dinner with my sister in law. So. First & most importantly Emily our server by far was absolutely amazing. She did her best & was honest & very helpful. I've heard about this restaurant but never got the chance to dine...tonight I did. First we ordered 2 coffees. The Honey & Cinni full. We never eneded up with them until the end of our dinner. There was a shortage & no one was knowledgeable about making the drinks. That was frustrating however Emily had it compensated. We ordered 10 wings half Alabama white bbq & nashville hot. The tastes were good but I would suggest dipping the wings in the oil for the nashville then seasoning it...it only had the oil & I requested more seasoning. We ordered the deviled eggs. They were good. We also ordered the mac & cheese bites. The taste was delicious but they were barely warm inside & I requested another order which Emily was more than happy to get for us. We ordered the salmon toast & chicken schnitzel. I would say the toast could have been better .... adding extra pickled onions on it made it better. I would have prefer the toast slightly toasted...the side salad that came with it was very good. I had an order of the mac & cheese & buttered green beans. The veggies tasted very fresh & delicious. The mac & cheese was very good. Overall the meal was good. Our server was amazing & when we finally got our coffee(s) they were delicious. I would maybe try this restaurant again but it wasn't wow me out of this world and I do enjoy frog hollow very much & craft & vine even more but the frog & the hen was just ok for us tonight. read more

Needed a good place to fuel up before running errands with my mom and couldn't be happier with our decision! We got there at 11:30 and were immediately seated. Ashley was our server and even with attending to a large party and several other tables she was awesome! I ordered a caramel latte and bananas foster French toast with chicken sausage as a side while my mother ordered the southern fried chicken sandwich. Food all came out within 15 minutes and it was delicious! I could have drank the caramel sauce on the French toast with a straw! My mom also enjoyed her sandwich though neither of us had room for the mountain of fries. Overall I do think it was worth the $50 we spent and want to try it again for dinner sometime! read more

We had no idea what to expect , we made reservations online and were sat at the time we made reservations, so that was a plus. Our waitress was very informative and we were delighted that it was a farm to table restaurant. When asked what her suggestions were she told us her favorites and that's what we ordered. The fried macaroni balls with the sauce - ORDER IT. It's definitely a meal and definitely worth ordering. THE BEST ! Aside from the above, I orders Hen's Southern Salad. It was a little too meaty of a salad * Bad thing to complain about I know *. Since I didn't like the bacon and the chicken together in the salad, I think it would be better if the bacon was left out. I did enjoy the mixture of greens, thick cut cheese, and the housemade (at least tasted like it) ranch. Overall it was a nice salad and I can definitely see it being a quick pick up for lunch or dinner. It was Pier, Caitlyn and Kinsey (probably killed their name spellings) who made our experience a fun one. Drinks were so good, Bloody Mary with the deviled egg! That deviled egg was everything! I will definitely be back for them specifically. The Pina Colada with the cherry soaked in alcohol was so delish. We tried the fried Mac n cheese balls with the amazing dipping sauce. After returning them for reheat they were delicious. The chicken sandwich with the dill cucumbers was so good but get honey mustard as well as it was a bit dry at first. Mash potatoes had to go back to reheat and tasted a bit odd with sweet butter. No salt offered on the table which seemed odd but no big deal. My dad ordered biscuits and gravy and he liked it a lot. Happy hours good! The Manager was so kind to have our food reheated and then on her own took care of the item we requested to be reheated. Very nice gesture. The service is great and very worth visiting again. We will definitely come back to visit again. If you go ask to sit in Pier or Caitlyn section. They are good souls. We had heard some pretty good raves and reviews about Frog & The Hen, so we finally took the plunge and came a little after opening on a Thursday. We were surprised it had a decent amount of people inside and seated already. When we are greeted, Tyler is our waitress. She was great. She greeted us with glasses of water, cups for the kids, and kept on top of our drinks without being overbearing. I stayed with water but my husband got coffee. Since chicken and waffles were off the table, I'm assuming it's a weekend thing only(?), I went ahead with their chicken pot pie. I .. wasn't a fan. The filling had an interesting flavor that I couldn't figure out what it was. It wasn't awful but I just couldn't place it. I did however like that I could find ample amounts of chicken in the dish. What really turned me off was the crust. It was really dry and tough. I get it's a crust but it should not require The Hulk to cut it when I came as Bruce Banner. My husband and his basic self got their southern fried chicken sandwich with potato wedges. He had no complaints, he just wishes they'd bring more than one little sauce cup of ketchup. We also got a Mac and cheese for the kids to share along with them picking off our plates. Holy cow was it expensive for the size, in my opinion. It was really good, I mean reallllly good, but I don't think I'd get it again, based on the price. And just a quick note that they don't offer military discount at this establishment. All in all, I'm glad we tried it and got it off our bucket list. I can't say this is a place I'd bring out of town family but I do think they have an interesting concept. read more

Popular restaurant but dining at the bar or outdoors is available first-come-first-serve. It almost delivers that elusive mind blowing meal--almost, so maybe we ordered the wrong items or it was the head chef's day off.... Details: 1/4 roasted chicken with the Alabama white sauce was ok. Their version of the AL white sauce is vinegar forward and served on the side. If you're a barbecue fan you know the originator (Big Bob Gibson) used it to baste the chicken and then submerged the chicken when it came off the grill. This tangy vinegar batch was not my favorite and, if truth be told, I prefer Full Moon Barbecue's rendition to the original anyway. Mac n cheese pasta was overcooked mush; this is a dry version of Mac n cheese and it lacked the cheesy gooey goodness that justifies the carb splurge. The other side mentioned was the house cut fries, so that might be a better choice. Chicken biscuit with hollandaise sauce... fried egg was perfect. The fried chicken was good. The hot pepper hollandaise sauce was strangely like a cheese sauce--weird. It was thick and the consistency of gravy, with a hint of cheese flavor so not the expected hollandaise with a dash of Tabasco. The biscuit was average--on the dense side. Nice staff. No issue with timing of food or pricing. Generally I would try it again, I would choose different options though. read more

Ordered nothing fancy biscuits and gravy, chicken sandwich and a breakfast plate not sure what the issue was totally ignored by service staff. Food was slightly cold too. We've been regulars here for about 2 years. We usually come for brunch and sit at the bar where we have gotten familiar with the staff. They really are an excellent group of people. The drinks are phenomenal and the food is comforting. I enjoy the nachos, pimento cheese sampler, and the grits bowl. The chicken sandwiches and biscuits are very filling so be prepared for a nap. Their fries are my favorite in the CSRA. You'll definitely need reservations for brunch. There is usually a line waiting for the doors to open at 10. Overall a great experience. Super cute restaurant with a nice modern vibe. We ordered the hen egg rolls to start - these were a bit unimpressive and dried out, but the peach dipping sauce helped to make them tastier. Our waiter Michael assured us that everything on the menu was excellent but advised us to pick something with chicken other than wings (apparently they come from a different farm). We ordered the chicken and waffles and the pulled chicken sandwich. The chicken tenders were by far superior to most chicken tenders. They couldn't have been juicier or better tasting. The waffle was doughy and lacked some flavor. My pulled chicken was also soft and tasty, and the fries hot and fresh made, but a tad greasy. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and it was good, but instead of a scoop of frosting they should put a scoop of icecream on top of that warmed and buttered bread. I sat at the bar and was warmly greeted by the bartender who preceded to tell me that all food was locally sourced farm to table which was awesome, even some of their spirits are local. I decided on the chicken hash which was a combination of home style potatoes, kale, chicken topped with a sunny side up egg. It was delicious. I was told that the restaurant was excellent and that it had many gluten free options, but that was not the case. We ordered biscuits and deviled eggs to start. The family loved the biscuits but my relived eggs did not taste very good to myself or my daughter in law. When our food came out, the kids food looked and tasted delicious, but my chicken nachos were lacking chicken and flavor. I have eaten at Fog & the Hen several times for lunch. Food has always been great, I'd give it 5 stars. Service has always been hit or miss, I'd give it 3 stars and the servers still received over 20%. (Side note: we aren't complainers, even if something is messed up and we refuse to run a server to death and we tip well.) My husband and I wanted to have lunch there one Saturday. We had been out running errands so we were casually dressed, jeans and basic shirts, like most of people we saw inside. When we walked in, we both smiled and said hello. The hostess did not speak and looked at us like she recognized us but, not in a good way. She looks us up and down and made this face like she was completely disgusted we walked in. We had no idea who she was and looked at each other very confused. It was crowded inside like it normally is and she asked if we had a reservation, we told her no, that it was just the two of us. She literally rolled her eyes, glanced over her shoulder and told us it would be a moment while a table was being prepared. It was the lunch rush, we expected that and we could see the staff turning a few tables so we said ok and stepped to the side. Another couple walked in behind and the hostess' nasty attitude immediately changed. Her smile lit up the room as she greeted them and asked if they had a reservation, they also said no. She looked at us then looked back at the other couple and took them to one of the tables that had been prepped. Came back to the hostess area and proceeded to ignore us. Keep in mind we are still standing in plain view and still very confused at what was going on. Another small group came in and the same thing happened. Now, there are no available tables. I'm not sure if it was another hostess or a waitress walked up and spoke to this girl and looked our way. The hostess said something under her breath and gave us the same disgusted look. This second girl glanced at us and looked equally as confused as we did. At that point we were both done and walked out. We get in our truck and both run through who this girl may have mistook us for. Needless to say neither one of us have been back and don't intend to ever go back. read more
