This place is located in downtown SLC, but is kind of secluded in some random backstreet, but was super easy to find. The restaurant was kept clean, which is always a plus. I ordered the wood fire bread as an appetizer and the Scratch Steak Sandwich as my entree. Both were fantastic! The wood fire bread comes with butter and also some very tasty apple jam. The steak sandwich was definitely perfection on a plate. We will definitely be back to eat here whenever in SLC, and you should make it a point to stop by as well. First the host was very rude and when we asked for a table for 5 he seemed put out finally answering it would be 1.5 hours. We figured it must be good. We came back. The beet salad was great but the margarita pizza was burnt and average. The service was horrible though. Our waitress disappeared never came back to see how dinner was, get us more drinks or even get us our check. The staff was super nice and our server was very helpful and on top of checking in on us and making sure waters were filled. We ordered: Brussels Sprouts - 100% recommend Fennel Sausage Pizza - Highly Recommend Chicken Parmesan with house made noodles - 100% recommend Pastrami Burger - Not Great. The bun was so hard that you could knock on it and clearly hear the hollow sound. Perhaps it was left under the heat lamp too long. Fettuccine Alfredo with house made noodles - 100% recommend. At the end of the meal, we asked for our parking ticket to be validated. I'm not sure if the staff didn't recognize the parking ticket, but after fighting with the parking booth lady, we found out that the stamp from the restaurant was not actually valid and for the wrong parking structure. Had the staff known that was not the right ticket to validate, we could have avoided the whole situation, but what's done is done. I walked in for lunch and it was my first visit. There was open seating but I sat at the bar bc I was alone for business. This was surprisingly not what I was expecting- in a good way! I met some family here for dinner over the weekend and had a great time. Our meals were hot and fresh, And seasoned well. I specifically enjoyed the Brussel sprouts and the pizza. I also tried the burger, but the bun was dried out and the cost was pretty steep for the quality. Inside the restaurant was pretty loud, but we'll decorated and they were a decent option for medium sized groups. It was clean and the wait staff was friendly. Be careful while parking! There are multiple garages adjacent to this restaurant, and the staff "validated" the parking for the wrong garage. So I still had to pay, even though they stamped it. read more

Our waiter never refilled our drinks the entire time we were there. Our Brussels were a little on the charred and burnt side. My steak sandwich was so chewy and the bread was so hard it made it hard to eat. My husband got a hamburger but left most of it on his plate because it was burnt and horrible. I ordered the fresh baked bread and apple butter, beet salad with added salmon, and the soup of the day. All were amazing. But the bread was good! I know food is not going to be as good when you take it to go, but both dishes were very overcooked. Great little restaurant near downtown SLC. It was walking distance from my hotel, which is a plus. The car remained in the parking lot of the hotel most of the time during my stay in Salt Lake City. This is in a little park like area, a bit hidden away, but was busy when we arrived. They have a nice variety menu, with very large portions. Try the Brussels sprouts, they are delicious. We took half our entrees because it was just too much to finish. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with salad and husband had the Alfredo. Very good, and they don't rush you here. I'd give this burger a 6/10 - it was super thick but there was a lot of bread. Fries were amazing though, 9/10 for those bad boys. Finally is the beef stroganoff. It says that it has a mustard aioli, but I only tasted mayo. Overall, the sandwich was flavorful! It comes with fries too. The fries were a little crunchy and nothing special. The pan fried veggies were flavorful. The mashed potato needed a little more love. We are a big potato fan in this family. A little more effort would go along way. Scratch burger - 3 stars - the onion straws on the burger were soggy. The flavor was fine. Hopes were high but we would not come back for this burger. The fries were nothing special. They made their own ketchup. Super cool touch. The bread appetizer was nothing special. The apple preserve was exceptional. The bread was a forgettable delivery system.
