Oh well ok Nona was just alright. We got a few appetizers including the Shishito peppers and the Mezze Plate, and then we shared the Chicken Shawarma and the Kale Caesar salad. The salad had zero flavor resemblance of Caesar salad but did have a freshness to it. The feta cheese and the focaccia were really a hit with us but when the chicken, the star came out it really stopped the flow of things because it had little to no flavor and was stringy; very overcooked. Otherwise, service was great, we had very low wait times for dishes to come out and enjoyed the low lite ambience. Overall, the service was the highlight as the food lacked overall creativity & flavor and it was pretty drafty inside for a winter night.

I REALLY wanted to love this restaurant but it wasn't it for me. My chicken piccata was burnt and too spicy for me (I can't have spicy food due to health concerns). I wish the menu had indicated it is spicy. My husband ordered the brick oven lasagna. It is on the mediums on the menu but should be in a new area called extra smalls. It was one lonely half of a lasagna noodle with some sauce and a small amount of cheese. We left still hungry after spending $75 and looking for somewhere to eat second dinner. I was so bummed because I had really been looking forward to eating there.

I was around the area, and this place caught my attention with their beautiful outdoor seating that looked so pretty, plus it was a fresh day to be outside. The tables are a decent size, not bad. I got the lasagna, and it was so delicious, creamy, and cheesy. The flavor was just great, and the portion was good. I also tried the grilled chicken, but it was ok. When we tried the chicken, it was quite cold, and the flavor wasn't satisfying, and for the price, I don't think it was worth it. We also tried an oil lime cake to go, and when we tasted it, it had a fridge-old cake flavor. I know for sure I will come back for the lasagna, as it has been my favorite.

This restaurant was a cute experience. You definitely come to this place ambiance. My hubby and I came for a date night and it was a good time. The entrance is beautiful and you walk to the garage to sit. They have fireplaces and heaters for the winter months. The staff was very friendly and took care of us well. The food was good. The cheese plate was the best thing we had tonight. The cheeses were so good! 10/10 I had the chicken piccata and my husband had the lasagna. Both those items would be a 6/10.

This place is super cute and I love the vibe. They have a really cute outdoor patio. There were bugs (fair warning), but that's to be expected since it is a really cute outdoor seating area with trees. They also have good music and cute lighting. Our server was awesome. She was attentive but not overbearing. We got the potatoes and shishito peppers to start. Both were great! My friend and I both ordered the salmon and really enjoyed it. My husband got the chicken piccata and thought it was delicious. He also really enjoyed the arugula side salad. My friend's husband got the steak and he enjoyed it. For dessert we tried both the olive oil cake and cookie in the skillet. Both were amazing!! I love how everything here is really simple but delicious. It is definitely on the pricier side, but I knew that going in. I was also impressed with the portion sizes. The vibe was perfect on a warm summer night and I left feeling extremely satisfied. The Diet Coke wasn't as crisp as I would like but it was still good.

I am a little sad to be leaving this low of a rating for Nona. I live very close by and have wanted to try it for a while. First, the good: a great setting with a lovely outdoor area and very polite service. The problem is unfortunately the food. I ordered the steak which is the most expensive item on their menu. I just about never spend that much on food but I thought it would be a nice treat that my partner could also share on her birthday (she got the lasagna). But the steak showed up about ten minutes after everyone else's food and came out well done after I had asked for medium rare. It was pretty chewy due to being overcooked. If I did this at home, I would probably scrap it and try again. Unfortunately I can't recommend Nona, especially if you want to treat yourself. Plenty of other spots nearby where you can spend a similar amount and get better quality.

We went as a big group for a business dinner. The space was fun with live music and lots of people. Everything else is where the experience went down. The server while really nice was super distracted and seemed to be over stretched between tables. We ordered drinks and they sat at the bar for 20 minutes and finally I had to go up to the serving staff and ask for them. (I will add the space is outdoors with lots of bugs so the fact that our drinks just sat there for that long is a problem.) We finally then got our food which we pre ordered to make it easier on the restaurant but they still got orders wrong and didn't correct them as well as made us wait a really long time. The food itself was good I thought mine was delicious. We then ordered desert and they said they had run out of one of their two options the day before and didn't prepare any for today so we only that the pzookie option which was fine since those are really good but as a restaurant you should be better prepared if you do have such limited options. We kept ordering drinks but ended up just giving up on the drink orders since it took so much to try and find staff to order and then most the time we didn't even get our drinks given to us. Overall the taste is great of this restaurant but the staff is so bad that I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The last problem is we had a problem with our bill and the server told us he couldn't do anything about it because the manager (Hayden) went home for the day but assured us the manager would help us and to contact him the following week, we contacted him and the manager was not very helpful on the phone and then proceeded to tell me he'd get back to me and it's now been 2 weeks and I haven't heard from him to correct the error on the receipt. Overall super disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place whatsoever due to their staff being disorganized and not great. Our entire party was super disappointed and won't be recommending this place to the families from out of town we help in the area.

This place was a hit or miss for us... Let me set the scene: 8:00 pm, party of 3, semi hungry. We ordered off the appetizers menu for a more "tapas style" dinner. They brought & charged us for more than we ordered. It would've been okay if the plate was tasty... but the tinned fish was DEFINITELY a miss, for $20 it was bland and just pulled out of a box. (It literally was). Another miss for us was the $25 large charcuterie board! It was a small selection of two thin slices of cheese and store bought crackers... the presentation was okay but had more "fillers" than cheese, meat and cracker... it would have also been nice to have a condiment with it. Now let's talk about the hits! The charred cabbage is TO DIE FOR. Absolutely delish and is a must order. This was recommended by a friend and it lived up to the hype. It had a wonderful sauce on top and bottom, they paired perfectly with the cabbage! The shishito peppers were tasty and acidic! They were nicely charred but could use a lil dip or aioli (I'm a sauce girl) The potatoes were nicely seasoned and had bits of Parmesan grated over it. They were perfectly crispy! The green beans were good but nothing to write home about! The focaccia was mmhm mmhm mmhm! They were nice and pillowy. It came out warm which was extra nice! The restaurant itself is petite but very cute for a nice girls night or date night!! Our waitress was prompt but a little bit... new? She was super nice but neglected to inform us of the tinned fish dish, maybe it was a special she forgot about! 8/10 for her service :)

YUM. Nona is a must-try when in Salt Lake City. Just across the street from Loki Coffee, Nona is in a garage just behind a brown brick house. They have heaters going to keep you warm and the space is very inviting. Our server was very warm and welcoming and got us started with drinks and menus right away. I chose the breakfast sandwich and it was delicious! I've tried many breakfast sandwiches and I liked that Nona's added a unique twist to theirs with the prosciutto. Prices are very fair. I overall had a lovely experience. I can't wait to visit when patio season is back and experience Nona outside!

We joined them for a Valentine's Weekend dinner so of course the place was busy but we were able to secure a reservation in advance for our table for two. They were offered a special menu this weekend due to the holiday so we tried some special items not normally available. We started with the beets as a shared salad. Fresh red and yellow beets mixed with silver queen cheese and a light vinaigrette dressing. Very fresh and tasty. For our entrees we ordered the scallops with parsnips and the shrimp panzanella. Both of this dishes hit the WOW factor. The portions were sizable and while each dish was very different they shared flavors that just popped. Honestly the cheese course was not my favorite. It was good cheese, but I didn't think the greens paired well with it so it really was just cheese, which I found a little disappointing. They quickly boxed our food and even brought me some Claritin to help tide me over. The food was piping hot when they boxed it and traveled beautifully, which was a bonus for sure. For brunch, my husband had the burger with a fried egg and I had their special of the day: chilaquiles. This might have been the best chilaquiles I've had in the valley. While we were waiting, we watched several parties of two arrive after us with reservations at 8:10, 8:15, and even 8:20, and they were seated before us. After waiting about 20 minutes, I went back to ask how much longer it would be. I was told it would be another 20 minutes. I reminded Carleigh that we had a reservation, and her response was, "Oh, you did?" She then asked for my full name and phone number, looked up the reservation, apologized, and immediately escorted us to a table that appeared to have been ready the entire time. This was extremely frustrating and disappointing. Reservations are made so guests don't have to wait behind people who arrive later. It felt like our reservation had been completely ignored until I spoke up a second time. Whether this was poor organization or a lack of attention, the level of service at the front desk was unacceptable. We came looking forward to a nice family dinner, but the experience started with unnecessary frustration and left a very poor first impression. Upon entering, the evening seemed promising. The ambiance was moody and intimate, the host was astute and welcoming, and the tile work was beautiful. As the night wore on, however, things slowly stopped adding up to a delicious dining experience. The first thing was the waitress. Apparently the host was also the waitress... and the bartender... and the busser - not that you would know it because of how attentive she was, but shortly after getting our small plates I mentioned to my cousin that I hadn't seen any other person working in the restaurant. While I knew that couldn't be true, I was facing into the restaurant and I only ever saw two other men casually saunter out from the kitchen, look around, and saunter back. No one looked excited to be working there, but the two men who appeared from the kitchen gave me no sense of urgency or purpose, only just that they were extremely bored. The second thing that didn't add up was the Farm to Table narrative. As our Swiss Army Server (thanks for that one, Dimitri) was opening up our wine and recommending dishes, I asked where the farm was located. Apparently, the farm is located in California, and this "farm" owns several other "Farm to Table" restaurants... hmmm... When it came to ordering, we were instructed to order all of our dishes upfront, but that they would come out in courses... While things rolled out like that, the way we were required to order and the way our food came out gave the distinct impression that they weren't dishes being made to order - only delivered to the table in such a way as to give the illusion that they were. Dishes you would expect to come out hot came out room temperature. Dishes you would expect to come out chilled came out room temperature. When each course came out they came out one dish at a time, but one immediately after another... almost like they had been sitting on a table in the kitchen just waiting for anyone to order them. The final, and perhaps most telling thing that didn't add up, was the distinct lack of any smell coming from the kitchen - let alone the restaurant. Only after we left the establishment did we realize how fresh and clean the air smelled. As a home chef, I understand that not every dish calls for garlic and onion, but what about salt? What about pepper? What about any kind of butter or seasoning or even a maillard reaction? In this day and age of salted dark chocolate caramels and umami, attempting any dish completely void of salt is a brave choice, but it's certainly not a heroic one. I mean, we're talking about a restaurant that cooks and serves a filleted trout with its head still attached, eyes buggin' out, bones in, the works! How are we not smelling the fish when it hits the table‽ Have you ever plugged your nose while you tasted something?... Exactly... To finally wrap this review up - the reason why I'm giving this experience 1 star is because the service was attentive, the beet salad was good, and the rest made us laugh uncontrollably at how bad it was. The potato pave was a fun gimmick, and the brussel sprouts were crispy but the pork tenderloin and the fish had no smell, no recordable temperature, and the only flavor I could identify was... dusty dirty mop water? I just don't know... we even tried to load up bites of pork and fish with the polenta, the sautéd and pickled greens, and the "sauces", but nothing helped... if anything, it made things taste worse... truly, I've never been closer to becoming a vegan. People will say we should've just sent back the food, but I've worked in food and bar service. How does requiring that level of service from your waitress for your patrons even begin to make up for a business model whose only job is to make food taste good? After all, I can get that level of service from McDonalds, even though I've never had an experience that required it from them... If you do decide to go to Roux for your next meal, maybe make it breakfast... from my experience, breakfast is a hard meal to mess up.

First off, the roasted beets might honestly be the best thing on the menu (which sounds ridiculous until you try them). They come with greens tossed in a dressing that is absolutely mouth-watering, I could eat a whole bowl of just the greens. Next was the mushroom toast, layered with the creamiest goat cheese spread that perfectly balances the earthy mushrooms. But the real showstopper was the pork belly. I've never had pork belly like this before. They serve it in these perfect little cubes and when you bite into one it literally bursts with flavor. It's paired with green apples, which might sound unexpected, but it's an incredible combination. If you've never had pork with green apples before, you're missing out, it's the perfect sweet, crisp contrast. We finished the night with beignets and an affogato. My affogato had butter pecan ice cream with a rich espresso poured over the top - simple and absolutely delicious. We were tended to by our server through out the night. 5 star service, 5 star food, and the restaurant was beautiful inside and out. Can't wait to sit out on the patio in the summer! Do yourself a favor and make a reservation. Trust me, you won't regret it.

The Wagyu steak was good as well. A bit salty (I love salt, so it was fine for me). Because of that they gave us a free dessert which was not necessary, but really kind. So grateful they did because the pound cake with peaches and whip cream was excellent. I've never had a better pound cake. The portions are really big too. Worth the price. Would absolutely return. The only down side was that it was incredibly hot in the restaurant. It was uncomfortable. Maybe sit outside? It needs A/C desperately. Other than that, we will be back.

Wow! What a fantastic dining experience. My mom and I were…read morein town for a few days and a local bartender recommended Urban Hill. The interior has a classy but not overdone ambiance. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable and exactly the right amount of present (if you know what I mean). I enjoyed the maitake on rice with cashew cream and it was delicious. The salty mushrooms were mellowed by the chewy rice. The cashew cream gave a nice variation in texture. I didn't leave a morsel behind. The harissa carrots were nice as well. They are cooked soft and have a moderate spice level that is again contrasted by the mild labneh and tahini base. I had to save the rolls with herb better for last. Oh. My. God. These were divine. I'm a sucker for bread of any kind but these are what the Hawaiian dinner rolls wish they could be. They are perfectly pillowy and the herb butter just elevates them. Do not miss these for more "sophisticated" fare. If I lived here, I would definitely come back. Everything was considered and well-executed. Bravo

We were visiting Salt Lake City from out of town and decided to have dinner at Urban Hill after…read morereading the outstanding reviews. Like many people, we were excited to dine at a restaurant led by a chef who has beaten Bobby Flay. We arrived for our 8:15 p.m. reservation and were seated promptly. Unfortunately, from that point on, the service became increasingly confusing. Our server seemed flustered from the beginning and even commented that she wanted to make sure everything was right for our experience. When ordering drinks, I asked for a root beer and was told they had one. A few minutes later I was informed they actually didn't and was given a Dr Pepper instead. No big deal--I didn't want to make an issue of it. The bigger problems started with the food service. There were three of us. Two ordered the filet, and one ordered the chicken. The first entrées brought to our table weren't ours at all and had to be taken away. When our actual meals arrived, they were still mixed up. I was served the chicken despite ordering the filet. The same thing happened with dessert. We ordered two Baked Alaskas and one Lemon Cake. Again, the desserts were delivered to the wrong people. These weren't major issues individually, but when they happen repeatedly throughout one meal, it takes away from what should have been an outstanding dining experience. Now for the positive... The kitchen absolutely delivered. The filet was cooked perfectly. The chicken was outstanding. Presentation was beautiful. The Baked Alaska was one of the best I've had. The food easily earns five stars. Unfortunately, the front-of-house experience did not. To make matters worse, after I finished the Dr Pepper that I hadn't originally ordered, my glass sat empty for roughly 45 minutes. No refill was offered, and I eventually had to ask for another beverage while dessert was being served. One final observation... The receipt included an optional surcharge for the back-of-house staff. I understand it could be removed upon request, but I don't believe guests should be placed in the position of deciding how restaurant employees are compensated. Pay your team well, price the menu accordingly, and let guests simply enjoy their meal. Urban Hill has one of the most talented kitchens I've experienced in quite some time. If the service can reach the same level as the food, this restaurant would easily deserve five stars.
