Enjoyed a great dinner with friends after David Sedaris' show at Town Hall. The new location is great and lovely to be on the water! Service and food were excellent - especially that bread. Our party is especially thankful for the gracious help from the front of house staff to seat us at 9:30, a full 30 minutes after our 9:00 reservation. While the last seating was to have been 9:00; and the restaurants current patrons were all into their entrees+, we were seated and had a lovely time and meal. read more

We decided to give Front Street another try and were excited to visit their new location with its beautiful harbor views. The view was easily the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, the exterior of the building is easy to miss, with all of the curtains closed, making it blend into its surroundings unless you're specifically looking for it. We were greeted promptly upon arrival and appreciated the thoughtful nods to the original location, with several familiar items on display. It was a nice touch that added some character and nostalgia. We chose to sit at the bar, which is quite large. The bartender was responsible for approximately 20 bar guests while also handling drink service for the restaurant. Despite being spread very thin, she was friendly, attentive, and made excellent martinis. She truly did the best she could under the circumstances. We ordered an appetizer, which took a long time to arrive. When our entrées were served, both the pasta and chicken dishes were only lukewarm. The sauces were extremely thin--more like soup than a pasta sauce. To add to the disappointment, there was no bread service because the restaurant had run out of bread. Overall, the meals were fair but fell well short of our expectations. As we were leaving, we tried to speak with the hostess about the new location and the restaurant's plans for the future. Unfortunately, she seemed dismissive and showed little interest in having a conversation with us. We genuinely wanted Front Street's new chapter to be a success and were hoping for a much better experience, especially after spending nearly $200. There is certainly potential here--the location is beautiful, and some members of the staff are clearly working hard--but the overall dining experience simply did not match the price point. We hope the restaurant is able to address these issues as it settles into its new home for the rest of this season. read more

I've been a regular here forever, and like everyone else, I wondered if the new location could live up to the original. Short answer: absolutely yes! While some loved the moody, dark basement vibe of the old space and others hated it, the new spot is a complete flip--bright, airy, with huge windows and great patio seating. They even saved a few old decorations as a nice nod to the past. We celebrated a friend's birthday here, and having the amazing Holly as our server made it even better. She's taken care of us tons of times at the original location and always goes above and beyond for us. Thanks, Holly! The food was flawless. Huge, piping-hot portions of the Shrimp Fra Diavolo, Donini Pasta, Chicken Francese, Chicken Parm, and rack of lamb. Somehow, we still found room to scarf down the flourless chocolate cake and bread pudding for dessert. They are going to be slammed during the busy season, especially being located at the ferry dock. I ordered Filet Mignon Con Pepe Verde for 32.95. The description states the following "Braised Filet Mignon and beef short rib pieces sauteed with broccoli, finished with a green peppercorn demiglaze served on a bed of pasta'. The meat was defiantly NOT Filet Mignon but rather cheap stew meat. It was fatty, and stringy. Extremely disappointed with this meal - I would not go back. read more

First off, we had no idea that this restaurant had moved to a new/temporary location. It would have been nice to get that insight when we called to make the reservation. We also waited 30-minutes for our reservation which had never happened in over 15 years of coming to Ptown. This new management and this new/temporary location is seriously hindering their reputation. Overbooking like this would have never happened in the other location and under the previous owners. A real disappointment for Front Street. If this is how new Front Street will operate, it will lose our business and many others. read more

This is a busy upscale Italian restaurant on Commercial St. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday night and all of the tables inside were reserved. We had a choice to eat at the bar or at one of the tables outside on the patio. We chose the latter. The menu is large and varied..probably one of the largest menus in town. I picked a broccoli appetizer and a sauteed veggie plate. I asked for low sodium and both came out delicious and very well done. I also had some of the Wedge salad (very good) and the Chicken Parm (very salty). The service was good and prompt, considered the restaurant was pretty full. I advise to make reservations as early as you can make them to ensure the right time for your needs. read more

Out of the past 6 years or so and 4 reservations, I managed to actually eat there in 2025. One res cancelled with no notice. One we showed up for and place was closed. This year had a confirmed res for Sep 8, but they decided to call and cancel it today because they want the day after Labor Day off too. We were a party of seven and there was 10 minutes between 1/2 our party got our food and the other half did. Food was not good. My pasta was overcooked - had the Pappardelle alla Casalinga - it was overcooked pasta, a meatball and a piece of sausage. Every time I picked up my fork the pasta would fall apart. For the price point ($26) is ridiculous. We made a reservation and waited over 10 min before the waitress came over and then another 30 min for our main entrees. We were a group of 5, not a large group. And just drinks and entrees. And for a tourist town, that night they were only taking cash bc their POS system was down. Worst experience of all the restaurants we went to during our visit. read more

We are residents of Provincetown for decades and loved Kathy and Donna's previous location with the wonderful ambience, service, and fabulous food, including their legendary squash blossoms. We decided to try the new location which is under new ownership. What a disappointment. First of all, after we were seated inside, we realized the air conditioning was barely working and it was sweltering inside of the restaurant. We requested one of the many empty, breezy outdoor tables and were told we would have to sit at a high-top, despite the fact that my dad has gait and mobility problems and is prone to fall easily. Now for the food. We booked early in the evening, as instructed by the hostess, so the squash blossoms would be available, as they sell out quickly. There were no squash blossoms on the menu. Period. There is a charge for bread, which most lower priced restaurants freely put on your table for no charge. The eggplant parmesan was lukewarm, overly salted, soggy, and covered with too much rubbery cheese. It was accompanied by penne pasta with zero sauce, not kidding. When our collective group requested sauce for our plain penne pasta, we were met with attitude and brought a small thimble of pasta sauce. The lobster bisque had zero lobster in it. Our wine arrived after we had finished eating our dinner. I addressed all of this to the management, noting that our family is local and frequents good restaurants in town. The management was unapologetic, offered nothing in a way of a comp, free dessert, etc. Adding insult to injury, our waitress was rude and never once smiled at us the entire visit. As if this wasn't enough, two people in our party got very sick after the dinner. Very disappointing for a $400 meal. The management took our complaints and promptly removed our ability to leave a review through opentable.com where we had booked the dinner. Needless to say, we will never go back. If you are looking for a great seafood, Italian, or Portuguese meal, go diagonally across the street to the Mayflower. read more

Unbelievably bad. The Pappardelle Alla Casalinga came out cold with two small pieces of gray sausage, a questionable meatball, and a tiny dollop of ricotta. The pasta was un-sauced, in a wad, and resting on top of a pool of seemingly canned tomato sauce puddled around the plate. It tasted like low sodium Campbell's tomato soup. After we sent it back, the same dish came out hot but the pasta was gummy and inedible. While the Chicken Marsala was hot, the cornstarch-y flavor of the sauce reminded me of a cafeteria. It was resting on a bed of dry, un-sauced pasta. The Garden Greens & Manchego was the highlight of the meal but it only had a couple of ribbons of Manchego and was only average. There was a charge for the bread appetizer and no sides were included with either dish. Prices felt high relative to the quality and disinterested service. The bottle price for a red wine was tolerable, and the only thing that kept us from walking out. It was a damp and dreary summer night, yet all of the curtains were closed preventing guests from even a glimpse of the harbor or people watching. Instead we were left to enjoy the dank atmosphere and marvel at how so many senior citizens seemed to enjoy their meals. We commented that we were glad we didn't try the raw bar, which the two people next to us were risking. On the way out, the hostess couldn't be bothered to say thank you or goodbye. I've since spoken with two people who raved about their meals there and at least ten who thought it was awful, so do with that information as you wish. For us, once and done for Front Street! read more

The three of us had dined here previously - for years-and were looking forward to a great meal. Not to be. It started with having the wrong address. Evidently the restaurant had to relocate to another location but failed to indicate such on their website and being no one answers their phone or returns call, how would one know? We ordered appetizers: pasta fagioli soup, and a wedge salad. And bread is a menu item now. The soup was noticeably salty but the killer was the wedge salad. Basically a head of iceberg with a few dribbles of blue cheese dressing and a tablespoon of blue cheese. We asked our server for more dressing and we received the smallest additional portion with an equally smaller portion of blue cheese ( note the salad dressing has no blue cheese in it) accompanied by a dollop of attitude. The main dishes were equally disappointing: chicken francaise that didn't look like chicken francaise with chicken that was chewy. Eggplant and chicken parm with cold penne pasta and eggplant parm that was tough. Fine dining at it's best! Not! And prices for these dishes in the thirty dollar range. I wish we had remained lost that night, would have saved $175. Definitely not worth it and we won't be back. read more

I had a wonderful meal at Front Street last night. Really like the new location. However, the service was extremely spotty. Our server was very eager to take our drink and appetizers orders and then we said we were not in a rush but received our appetizers very quickly. We felt extremely rushed even though we said we were not in a hurry. my partner ordered mussels but with no bread and had to ask another server to bring it to our table. Then we ordered our main course which consisted of an eggplant parmigiana and and a rack of lamb which arrived pretty promptly. Throughout our meal, our server never came back to see how everything was. The last time we saw him was when he asked us whether we wanted any dessert. While sitting at our table, we saw other servers who were very attentive to the diners that they serving. Not the case for us! Ordered Rib Eye rare came well done. Asked 4 times for butter, delivered 2 balls for a half loaf, salad came out with half ingredients missing. 90% of the tables meals were overcooked and under seasoned or overally salted. A meal that will be considered one of our worst in decades. read more

They're pulling off a miracle, recreating the food and at least some of the vibe of Front Street in temporary digs while their old building undergoes restoration . We were there only on the fourth night and it was humming, new staff getting up to speed, and everything was wonderful - from salads and apps to the pastas to the inimitable tea smoked duck. I hope they move back to restored but still intimate space - but for now, this will more than do! read more

As area locals, Front Street (at its prior location) was a real hidden gem. This year at their new location is off to an unacceptable start. Rude arrogance at the door from the host who doesn't care if you have reservations or not - you'll wait and get your table when he seats you. At the table, expect to wait an eternity for drinks - pro tip- the vodka soda appears to have carbonated city water so if you know anything about Provincetown water, you'll know how that drink tasted. Things don't get any better in the kitchen. The food arrived nearly 90 minutes into our visit. Some plates were served cold while others look like they were assembled by your 8 year old niece who has a passion for the kitchen and just wants to help. The slow service meant the restaurant missed out on us ordering more drinks, apps, desserts. The bill could easily have been 2x as high had things been moving. We cut our losses - stuck to entrees only and a single round of drinks. They'd be closed by the time the second round of drinks came out anyway. read more

We made a reservation for 17 people at their opening at 5:30. It was an awful experience. We were 7 children and 10 adults. Without telling us when we made the reservations they put us in separate rooms - one table for 10 and the other for 8. The hostess was unfriendly and unyielding in trying to accommodate the needs of one of the 8 year old kids. The food was nothing special and it was the most unfriendly family place I have ever been to in my 50 plus years of visiting Ptown. We will not be back, nor recommend them to anyone we know. They may have improved their views when they moved but everything else has gone downhill. read more

The new location is great with high ceilings and a view of the harbor. But paying $52 for a piece of grilled halibut, mash potatoes and seasonal vegetables is absolutely ridiculous. A special should be cheaper, not 1.5 times more expensive than regular menu items. There was nothing spectacular about the meal that warranted that price. I may be back for drinks at the bar and an appetizer but will definitely be more careful if I ever order a full meal there again. read more

I was surprised. I expected Italian food with some expert cooking--fresh and flavorful. The fried artichokes started us out. They were not crisp, rather sodden and uninteresting, despite the overly large portion. I ordered eggplant parmigiana which is always a test. A good version is fresh, and eggplant is still discernible. Instead it was overcooked, sodden, hard to cut and covered with way too much stringy cheese. My partner liked his saltimbocca, so maybe some other dishes are better. The upside: they're done a great job with the space and the service was great. But for my palate it tasted too much like the "Italian American" cuisine of my childhood: overcooked and unsubtle. read more

Let me start by saying we've been fans of Front Street for many years, so it pains me to share this feedback. Unfortunately the rudeness of the host, the quality and presentation of the food, and the timing of the kitchen and bar were all sub-par. The only shining light was our lovely server who has been there for years (and even she was apologetic for our experience). We arrived on time and there was a wait to get inside to check in given it was a busy Friday night. No issue, we don't mind waiting and it was so nice outside. We finally get inside and the host proceeds to sit the group waiting behind us - he looks at us while stating to the other group 'I'll seat you first because YOU were on time', insinuating that we were late for our reservation. Just rude since we were patiently waiting in line like everyone else. The new space is nice and they did a good job capturing the old 'Front Street feel' in their new location. We were seated and our server came right over and took our drink order and shared the specials, etc. The bar was understaffed so we waited about 15-20 minutes for three drinks. The server was apologetic and took our food order while we waited for drinks. We also ordered some fresh bread to get us started (very good). Food arrives. The chicken and eggplant parmesan was being split by two of us - we did request split portions which didn't happen (fine, no big deal), but the entree itself was so small and completely burned under the broiler yet came out cold. Even the side pasta was cold. Seems they make it ahead of time and just heat it under the broiler. Since it was cold, the entree was hard and congealed (kind of like eating leftovers the next day). So disappointing as it used to be one of my favorites on their menu. The other order was for a caesar salad w a soft shelled crab. The salad was described with anchovies and shaved parmesan cheese - neither were included. In fact, the salad wasn't even dressed....just a small plate of chopped romaine and some croutons. And the crab was served separately on a small side plate w no garnish or presentation (which for the price one might place it on some lettuce or add a lemon wedge or something). So now three of the four guests are disappointed. I will say the last entree, shrimp scampi, looked delicious and perfectly prepared. So our fourth guest was quite pleased and the shrimp looked lovely. Plusses: wonderful server and great shrimp scampi and warm bread. Nice job updating the interior of the new space. Minuses: the rude host really threw the evening off kilter from the get-go. Unfortunate and unnecessary. Bar was completely understaffed (only ordered one round the entire night given the wait). Food, overall, was a far cry from the Front Street we knew and loved. It was like eating at a completely different restaurant. Overall? We won't go back. Provincetown restaurants are expensive as it is - so all things being equal we will spend our money where the hosts are welcoming and the food is served with care and pride. Front Street has an amazing new location - they will succeed on location alone.....but wow, it's a sad ghost of what it used to be. Makes me sad. Note: I have to emphasize that our server was so good and you could tell she felt bad about the evening. We made a point to over-tip her, as she was really doing a wonderful job trying to keep the back of the house together. Bad experiences are rarely due to the server...so be nice to them. read more

My family and I came for lunch today and sat out on the patio. The food and service were top notch. Being the first customers-seated outside, the only two umbrellas provided shade on this very warm day, My only suggestion would be to have more umbrellas! Can't wait to return! read more

We had dinner last night (Tuesday 6/23/26) and the food and dining experience was exceptional. Our server is local to PTown and has been working in restaurants there for years. She was fantastic - very personable and her knoiwledge of the menu was extensive. The food and portion sizes were also remarkable! My son and I has traditional Italian dishes (Saltimbocca and Parm), and my wife had the cod - all excellent. We also sat at a corner table overlooking the fishing fleet on MacMillian Wharf - really cool!! read more

The food was very mediocre. It was very loud and so tightly packed that the chairs in back of me and the person sitting in it backed up to my back. When I left, I could not move my chair. We waited 45 minutes for a drink as there was only one bar tender. I used to love this place but in this new venue, save your money and go somewhere else. read more

Another superb dinner at Front St. Lost count how many years now, every visit; at least 20. We shared a salad if arugula, olives, artichoke hearts, and feta; simple and a great way to start. I had the shrimp & veal piccata which was fantastic: literally just what it should be, big succulent shrimp NOT overcooked, and little melt-your-mouth veal medallions. My husband had the eggplant parm and adored it. Extraordinarily thin eggplant slices, the rest if the dish lush with cheese and sauce. We finished with a shockingly good pistachio crème brûlée. Not only exquisitely smooth but actually subtly flavored, which I find rare in this dish. Service was attentive, skillful, a nice blend of familiar and respectful. The atmosphere was class Front Street, cozy and hoppin'. You can tell from the happy sound of the crowd this is a great restaurant. Our only (mild) criticism is that since the new ownership, the pace is picked up: it's no longer such leisurely dining; you sense somebody calculating nightly table turns. It's still a good time and a splendid dinner. read more

I live in Provincetown and Front Street has been my go-to for years. So I was excited to try the new location on Saturday night and made the reservation weeks in advance. But when i arrived with my group of four the host was rude and dismissive. He said our reservation was made on Open Table for an outside table -- which was not true -- and when pressed said that nothing was available all night. No, I'm sorry. Or apologies, or we'll give you a comp drink the next time. Just rude and dismissive. The experience left my group wondering if we'll ever return to what was our favorite place. read more

I've never been so sad to be so full, because I didn't get to clean my plate or order the other items of interest - the servings were large. Sorry to say from the moment we sat down we had poor service. Forgiving at first but it never got any better. Bartender was not attentive. Took 15 min after ordering to get drinks. He didn't write our dinner order down and kept repeating the wrong order over and over. We had to keep correcting him. One meal came out completely wrong which wasn't a surprise. We finished our dinners before that person received theirs. Meals were not great. Tough chicken, over cooked pasta. Never were we asked how things were let alone an apology about the wrong order. Had to ask for more water. Never asked if we wanted another drink. The bill comes and they still charged us for the incorrect meal until we said something. The real sticking point for me was, they charged $8 for a side of marinara sauce. Meanwhile they serve their pasta dry with no sauce. Never in my life have I been charged for a side of sauce. The prices in town are lofty already and to nickel and dime a customer for a ladle of sauce is just unacceptable and insulting. Used to love this place but won't be back. Really enjoyed dinner here the other night. Did not have a reservation - but was seated without a wait. That was a huge plus. The ambience of the restaurant is breathtaking. Very romantic with beautiful art paintings. We started the evening with wine, which was delicious. We ordered meatballs and mussels as our appetizers. Both were phenomenal. The bread for the table was fantastic too. Great for dipping in both appetizer dishes. For our entrees - I ordered the truffle Mac and cheese - AMAZING. My boyfriend had a carbonara dish.
