Not having flown with Frontier before, I wasn't aware of the nightmare to come. I booked trip to see a good friend of mine in Houston. I'm traveling from Oakland, Ca and chose Delta for my flight in 2/3. Had no issues with communication or delays. My expected return is set for 2/7 (today) at 4:49pm leaving Houston with a layover in Vegas (hour not bad), however at 6:41 am this morning I received an email about the flight being delayed now with departure of 5:20pm instead, I then receive a text message stating the delayed time is actually 6:20pm. Then at 10:11am I receive a new text claiming delayed departure is now 8:10pm. I'm livid! This not only impacts my work schedule, but my transportation arrangements, and other important appointments I have scheduled for Tuesday morning in which I can't afford to miss. Frontiers miscommunication in the text and emails is very sloppy! The reason for the delay is "due to a late arriving aircraft " which is absurd! Joke! I looked up the live flight location using the Flight Aware website (they have an app too) and discovered my flight aircraft is currently in Detroit and plans to fly to VEGAS, to then come to Houston (BACK TRACKING) just to head BACK TO VEGAS =\ The most insufficient planning ever! Ghetto! A $52 fee is charged for small purse/kid size backpack they consider a personal, and additional $72 for a carry on that's 14x18 smh penny pinching their customers, and failing to deliver appropriate service. I've heard of Spirit airline issues but this seems just as bad! To make matters worse the customer service and reservation lines are all busy and damn near impossible to speak to someone for assistance!! I will just stick to airlines such as Delta that I'm familiar with and have INTEGRITY about themselves verses this cheap and inconsiderate foolery of an airline! I want my money back for the bag fees and this retuning flight! Joke of an airline for real! Poor communication, inadequate response and no reasoning. Wish I could give 0 stars. Warning- do not fly Frontier Airlines! My family arrived at IAH 2 hours before our scheduled flight to Orlando like we were supposed to... no one at the desk to check our bags..... we waited.... finally we got our bags checked and got to go through security and get dinner as our flight had been delayed an hour. We went to board according to the flight board at the gate and then were told that this flight was going to Denver and we needed to listen. Lol. First time flying Frontier. A couple next to me had a puppy who was freely walking and peeing all over things. I even got pee on me. I told the flight attendant and she came over and told the couple to not have pee pads out. Not sure what that accomplished. I called customer service because I had pee on my brand new Tory Burch bag and they said there's nothing they can do. One thing they can do is require dogs to be in crates or allow passengers to get reseated if they are uncomfortable near a dog. I love dogs, have one of my own, but I don't expect complete strangers to have to deal with my dog's pee on them (especially on a plane). Absolutely the worst airline in the whole world, the employees will treat you as a criminal and they are allowed to BAN YOU FROM BOARDING YOUR FLIGHT!!!!!!!!!! I traveled to Houston from Sfo to see my sick uncle for two days and I took a very small carry on 11.4 POUNDS to be exact. Checked in at sfo and boarded the flight without having to pay, on my way home I checked in the front desk and I got my boarding pass without having to pay after I raised my carry on bag in the air to show it to the employee and he said you're good to go. Went through security and got to my gate and there I was asked to pay $60. $45 carry on and $15 penalty for not paying at the front desk. WHAT???? I tried to explain that it's the same piece of carry on that I didn't have to pay for on the way to Houston and that the front stand told me that I'm good to go, the SUPERVISOR got soooo upset and she told the guy that was helping me to help other passengers and not to help me!!! After boarding all the passengers MARY THE SUPERVISOR told me that she's not gonna allow me to board the plane!!!!!! I tried to pay the not valid charge of $60 so many times but no help, I tried to çall the 800 number and I got a manager on the phone also NO HELP, MARY THE SUPERVISOR STILL DID NOT ALLOW ME TO BOARD MY FLIGHT!!!!!!! 1 star is much too generous for what I am about to explain about my experience with Frontier. I have personally seen cattle and pigs get treated more humanely as they walk in to their final destination. Day 1 Sunday August 14 I arrive at the SFO airport for a flight to Houston 2 hours ahead as per their check in instructions. 1. At 10: 10 am they start boarding a different destination then where I am going The gate I'm supposed to fly out of is under construction no signs posted where to go the gate area is blocked out. 2. Finally an announcement , The flight I'm supposed to be in is delayed 5 hours. Rain delay? Flight tracker does not show any other delayed flights coming from the same airport. 3. 2 1/2 hours to boarding time and NO text NO email updates nothing posted on the board? Come on. Since I posted this I also tried to post the entire review on their website. Of course they don't get the entire review because they limit your rant to 800 words or less. So their reasons to me was simply about how they did send a text and an email update. Go figure. Please read on. 4. The Gate attendant can not handle the pressure and calls the cop on a passenger who is looking for answers because several passengers by now have called the 800 number and various passengers are commenting on how they can't tell whether it is a aim delay or mechanical issues. Mechanical issues lox poses the airline to additional liabilities so of course whether related issues is the line they tow. 5. Second gate attendant sees me in line waiting to ask questions instead she is just Lallygagging doing nothing but chewing her gum obnoxiously. Then she answers question for white male wh was not in line and totally skipped me and a few others waiting patiently. 6. Flight was pretty uneventful we land in Houston several hours later after wasting the entire day at the airport. Day 2 Monday August 15. I arrive at the airport at 2 pm for a 5:40 flight. 1. Sometime around 1:30 pm I get a text saying the flight will be delayed. 2. Seven minutes later, another text saying "no delay". 3. No one at the counter until 2 hours before flight departure. I call the 800 number. 4. I'm on the phone with Frontier representative in the Philippines who barely speaks English assures me I fact he goes as far as to guarantee that the flight is not delayed and I will be home as scheduled. (Lie!!!) 5. 3 hours later airline person announces that my flight to Denver is delayed and I will miss my connecting flight to SFO. 4. She offers me the following options. A. Fly into Denver spend the night and board a late flight to SF leaving Denver at 6 pm or 9 pm B. Spend the night in Houston and fly directly into SFO tomorrow morning. 6. I elect plan B. They put me up in a double tree hotel plus a dinner voucher for $15 and a breakfast voucher for $10. I have a few questions: A. What about my work tomorrow? B. Who is paying for the extra hours of parking? C. What about my luggage. You see something I neglected to say is that they charge for you to carry on luggage and for you to check in your luggage. You don't find this out until way after you purchased your ticked. They get you when you are checking in and you have no other choice but to pay the baggage fee. (Bait and switch). D. Who do I complain to? The person working the gate is probably in her 20's and the people who check your bags in could not be older than 30. I say this because they could care less about you as a passenger or as a customer. When I asked who I can complain to, the young man was more worried about making sure all of his hair extensions were in place instead of helping me, the customer. 7. I get to the double tree hotel and management has no clue how to book my room for the night until a phone call or two are made to an off shift manager 8. Tomorrow is day 3. I will keep you posted. Day 3 1. I am at the check in gate 2 hours prior to the flight, No frontier rep in sight. Finally they stroll in and prep for their shift at their leisurely pace. 2. The LeTia (or Tia) doe not want to honor my request to waive my bag carry on fee and see's my attempt to negotiate this as argumentative. 3. I decide to take my chances at the gate, Except in walks Tia again and she refuses to let me board. I ask for er manager, Mary forces me to pay carry on baggage fee. 4. Flight lands we are kept waiting an hour until other flight pulls out. 5. Jet way breaks and we have to wait until mechanic comes to fix it further delaying our arrival. 6. Tia needs a lesson in manners my attempt to negotiate the fees and voucher is not an arguement to empower her to decide whether or not I get on the flight. I had to book a business trip to SFO a few weeks ago. United was sky high and American and Delta were high too and requiring at least one connection going and coming back. Frontier had a non stop rate that was about 1/3 of United and 1/2 of the others so I went with Frontier. I really didn't know anything about them except that I had seen their planes and gates at other airports. I realized after the purchase that Frontier was a budget airline like Spirit where you pay extra for everything beyond the ticket. The one thing I had to purchase was for one roller board luggage round trip for $60 total. I didn't pay extra for seat selection relying upon the Frontier gods to seat me where they wanted to. The day before the trip I found out my seat assignment was back on the last row in the B seat :((. Check in the morning of the flight was easy getting a paper boarding pass and proceeding through TSA to the plane. Getting on board was ok too as I was in Zone 1 which boarded first after their elites. Fortunately I got lucky and was asked to change seats in the same aisle but over to E and then the person who was at the window F seat didn't show show I flew the 3 1/2 hour trip with no one in the center seat. The return trip smiled on me as I got an F window seat and sat next to a skinny girl so had plenty of elbow room. During both flights all drinks and foods were for purchase but I was offered a cup of ice water for free. The seats didn't recline and the tray tables are very small but the flight got me to my destination and back on time. The $$$ savings were substantial so I have to give Frontier a good score. I was very weary to book on Frontier--but hey a $49 ticket to Las Vegas sold me. So we booked 4 seats plus an infant. I was really expecting a horrible experience. But to my surprise--I was very happy. Albeit, I pre-purchased my bag $25 each way and paid for a seating assignment. Still with the baggage fee and seat assignment fee I was under $100 each way. Not to bad in my book. I was very please with the flight staff they joked with the passengers, made sure everybody was comfy and settled before the flight and during. The fight staff checked on us multiple time since we had an small child in our party. My travel companions and myself after reading all the negative reviews figured we had a one off flight. But that wasn't the case--our return flight was just as pleasant. Our check luggage was in perfect condition also our stroller was treated really well. Over all Frontier gets a 100% for flight experience. I wish they flew to more locations. Tips for Flying Frontier: *Be on time to airport if you have to check bags *Prepay for luggage and know weight/size restrictions *Know their Carry on policy *Buy your own beverage before you get on plane *Set your expectations reasonably-- you aren't buying a first class ticket here. *Be nice to the flight crew and they are typically very nice back (apply to all airlines) You can't get mad at the staff because you failed to follow procedure. read more

Potentially the worst airline... Seats dont recline, they charge a minimum of $40 for a carry on bag, the people who check us in were very rude, there are 15 empty seats on my flight, and I am not allowed to move to one of the empty rows or seats without having to pay them another $50. Literally whole rows are open, and no one is allowed to move... I bought a round trip ticket through frontier, both this flight and my previous flight were delayed. If you can avoid flying Frontier, I highly recommend you do so. Despite the fact that I know flight attendants and pilots who work for this airline, I try my hardest to avoid flying Frontier at all costs. I get the no frills airline model that serves a need in the market. However most of those lines are new equipment and staff with efficient systems . Frontier is anything but. Our flight out was delayed over a half hour taking off because the boarding pass system double booked people in seats and no one would move. On layover they had taken our boarding passes so they wrote our names and seat #s on a yellow pad. When it was time to reboard we had to stand there while the agent scanned for our names on the list. Flying from Houston to Altanta and round trip we had no issues,just make sure you check in your bags online 24hrs prior to your flight(will save you about 35$) other then that when you book together as we did,a family of four you don't even need to pay for your seat you will automatically will be assigned seats together Flight attendants were very nice and attentive to us!!!! We booked a trip to visit friends in Tampa via Frontier. Due to some changes with my work schedule, I was not able to go and needed to canceled my ticket. I get paying a fee, but $119 just to cancel my ticket is absurd. We figured then we can use the remaining credit and my wife could use that credit to take another trip in a few months. Nope. I usually do not feel the need to write a review, however the experience at Frontier Airlines inspired me to share my negative experience. First of all, this company will do whatever it can in order to charge you the most they can, any carry on expect to pay at least $40. If you are even one pound over the fifty pound limit, they will charge you an additional $75. The employees are very miserable and unhelpful, if you ask them a simple question, they will respond rudely, and act as if it was a huge burden to do so. For the first time, I flew Frontier traveling to Atlanta. They were advertising a $76 RT sale for several months so we decided to take advantage of it and book. Like Spirit, the flights are cheap but you must pay for seats, bags and food/drinks on the plane. Booking was really easy. Once we arrived at the counter,  the staff were nice and quick (which is always important at the airport). Boarding the plane was timely and easy. On the return home, our flight was delayed 2 hours because of weather conditions, which is perfectly understandable. We received several emails and text messages alerting us of all updated times, which was helpful. All the staff were nice and there were no concerns other than the seats not reclining but they were comfy and the ride was enjoyable. To avoid paying a higher fee, pay for bags THEN check-in. If you do so after check-in, you'll pay a higher price. Also, whatever seat you pay for be sure to sit there! A few passengers on our flight tried to sneak in the exit row and was told in order to stay they needed to pay for an upgrade so stay mindful and save yourself the embarrassment. There are no FREE snacks/drinks on the plane so be sure and bring your own but they have plenty for purchase starting at $2.99. I'd definitely recommend this airline and will gladly fly with them again. read more

Wish I could give 0 stars! Had a flight from SFO to IAH on Memorial Day. Departure time was 10:30am. Checked flight status before leaving the house - on time. Checked flight status after checking bag and going through security at 8:30am - on time. About 9:00am a rude gate agent informs us flight is delayed 8 hours due to mechanical problems. Cool - I don't want to fly on a broken plan. They provided no alternatives to the passengers other than wait the 8 hours, or giving us a refund so we could book another flight. Holiday weekend, so no flights available except at exorbitant prices. As the day progressed, the delay increased to 10+ hours, and instead of arriving home at 4:30PM, we arrived at 2:30AM, which sucked since my wife and I both had to be at work at 8am. Their lack of interest in assisting stranded passengers, lack of agreements to book stranded passengers on other airlines, lack of apology for the delay, etc. was very frustrating to experience! On the ?plus? side - we got meal vouchers all day ($10 each for breakfast and lunch, and $15 for dinner). While in flight, we were emailed $100 flight vouchers which must be used in 90 days. Sure, I'm going to rush out and use that $100 flight voucher in the next 90 days because I loved my Frontier experience so much... Not! Time and Place: Monday, July 23rd 2017, Orlando FL, Flight 1601 to AUS. Situation: I bought a ticket with the WORKS option, which granted me and my family with priority boarding. When boarding started, I was sitting right by the gate entrance and stood up to start boarding. When the huge line of all zones formed, I decided to stand by the entrance and wait for all of the Zone 1 passengers to board, so I could board last in that Zone. A woman from Frontier, who I thankfully did not have the displeasure to learn the name, told me I would only board if I headed to the end of the line with my two children (including a lap one) and my 8 items (bags + car seat + stroller). I told her I would wait until all of the Zone 1 passengers have boarded so I wouldn't cut in front of anyone but she said that I would need to wait for all the passengers, from all the Zones, to get in the plane if I wanted to board on the plane. She stated that I was not "following her rules and regulations" by not getting at the end of the line. Besides not understanding why people with lap children don't have priority boarding at Frontier Airlines (she stated that loudly and clearly), I don't understand why she decided to harass me, specifically, on that matter. Update: they revamped the interiors of the planes now. Seats have been replaced with somewhat larger yet incredibly less comfortable chairs. Think they're trying to save space with ultra thin "cushions." No more little airplane trip display screen on the seat in front of you. Same miserable service, ridiculous charges, and delays though. Second time flying Frontier because I'm obviously bat shit crazy and didn't learn anything the first time I decided to take this ride to hell. If this airline is your only and last resort, sure book it. If it's not, don't even bother because there's a 99.9999999% chance that your flight will be delayed due to "unforeseen technical/plane issues." And that unique feature of Frontier happens across alllll airports not just here. And in the case, you still want to book this airline because it's "so cheap," do keep in mind that they charge you for every single little thing. If Frontier can charge you for breathing in air in their cabin, they probably would. (Although the extra fees and charges are understandable considering the basic flight itself is dirt cheap.) Aside from the apparent delays you should always foresee with this airline and the fact that you probably only saved like $75, my biggest issue is the actual staff here at IAH. They're not helpful, and I was forced to pay $35 to check my bag at the gate even though it would've fit on the plane. I even made sure it would by measuring my luggage before packing. But somehow the stupid man "couldn't get it to fit for the life of his," even though when I tried, it fit just fine. In the end, I couldn't argue with him anymore because I was the last person to board so I just gave up and paid the greedy bastards. All in all, you pay for what you get which is bad customer service and a bad experience. But again, IT'S DIRT CHEAP. It's why I decided to give this airline a second chance when I saw they were having direct flights to SFO for under $100. I really should've known better, though, since my flight has now been delayed for four hours and the butt heads here won't even offer breakfast vouchers. I swear by it when I say I will never ever fly Frontier again, not even if it's unfathomably cheap. Frontier is a terrible airline... They charge you for everything, their customer service has gone way down hill and they are unreliable and inefficient. After delaying my flight home from Austin TX to Denver CO from 7:30PM to 11:30PM... Their reply to what the cause of the delay was simply, "we don't know, but we will give you a $15 food voucher for your inconvenience." If I could give them a zero rating, I would. One star is too generous. They changed my flight so that the first flight left later and my connecting flight left earlier and failed to tell me this. I confirmed my return flight when my trip started (frontier was return only, took united for departing flight to Nola) and found the error myself - even on the "my flights" confirmation page there was no alert or anything. Called them and have spent already easily 10+ hours on the phone with them. Terrible service. They hire people who can hardly speak English and they put me on the "next available" connecting flight, which was 22 hours after I landed at the connecting airport. Zero compensation, zero accommodations, zero meal vouchers. Called customer relations where I was on hold for 3 hours and 5 minutes before someone picked up and he referred to some "compensation matrix" which he refused to let me see and said he could offer me a $30 voucher bc this was classified as a "mere inconvenience." Just the tip of the iceberg. Asked for voucher to be emailed to me, woman (speaking to a diff rep) said she confirmed it was just emailed to me and I asked her to tell me what my email address was and she responded "oh. Looks like we don't have your email address on file." This is just the tip of the iceberg. I can't justify spending any more time on them. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND NEVER TAKE FRONTIER AIRLINES AGAIN!!!!!! read more

Very Unhelpful and unhappy staff. They offer low fare price without making it clear how and by the time you get there you realize they are charging you $60 per baggage at the gate. Although I had a very small baggage they refused to see if it fits under the feet and they charged me. Also they told me that they have included a note on my reservation so they shouldn't charge me at the gate on my flight back but once I got to the entrance I realized that the note was not what they promised. Bags are 45 dollars each, the tray table was literally 6 inches and the pilot clearly was landing a plane for the first time in his life. NEGATIVE STARS would be more appropriate. WORST AIRLINE EVER! My BF booked a flight from IAH to SNA with a connection in Denver. His flight out of Houston was supposed to leave at 6:55 and arrive in Denver at 8:20. His connecting flight was scheduled to leave Denver at 8:59. He's at the airport in Houston and there is NO ONE at the gate. The screens at the airport all say that the first leg of his flight is still on time but other passages have said that the flight is in fact delayed. 45 minutes before we are scheduled to depart, a very unhelpful attendant finally shows up. She is rude, brief, and has no ability to answer he questions. He asked her if the flight was delayed and she said yes. He then proceeded to ask her what would happen with his connecting flight and she simply said "all connecting flights are delayed too". i looked online on the frontier website and sure enough, it still shows that his connecting flight is on time. So did this attendant lie to him or is your website not accurate? Meanwhile, I have been waiting to speak to representative on the phone for over 45 min!!! John Wayne airport will not allow flights in after 11pm so even if my bf is able to make his connecting flight (which doesn't seem likely at this point) he will not be able to fly into the airport that is 5 minutes away from my house. He would have to be re-routed to LAX which is an hour and a half away. This is a HUGE inconvenience and i don't think it's unreasonable that i expect to be able to speak to someone about some of our options prior to boarding a flight that may just get my bf stuck in an airport overnight. I would appreciate it if someone would contact me as soon as possible to attempt to remedy this situation. read more

This airline is the worst. No one at the front desk to check you in. So if you're running late you basically paid for a seat top not use. You're guaranteed to miss your flight. The most frustrating part is that employees are not helpful, if you are able to find one and they literally don't care. You're in the customer service business, one job= help customers. I felt robbed from this company. I Don't know how they are still in business. I would have made my flight if they knew how to efficiently delegate jobs for their employees. 7 other people would have made their flight as well. Frontier is the worst! TSA will not accept Frontier boarding passes from online checkin, so logically the next option is to print one at a kiosk right? Well no all the Frontier kiosks are out of order, no big deal right just go to the counter and have an agent print one, well think again cause there's no f**ing agents working. So instead of napping in the terminal while I wait for two hours I'll be standing in line like an asshole with all these other poor saps that are unlucky enough to be flying with Frontier:/ read more

Our flight from San Francisco was cancelled due to poor weather in Denver. When we went to the ticket counter to find out what our options were, there were literally hundreds of customers standing in line, with only TWO agents! I tried to call the customer service line and never was able to get through...kept getting disconnected due to high call volume! We tried to find out where our checked bags were located so we could retrieve them and get to a different airline. We finally got someone to answer us and told the agents that they should announce it so people could get going to alternative flights. They never did! When we got to our final destination, I asked for a refund of my ticket, but told them I wanted to keep my return flight reservation. Instead, they cancelled my entire reservation. The next day they called and apologized for doing that and informed me that my return flight was completely booked and I would have to wait until the following day to get home!!!!! This airline doesn't know the meaning of customer service. I also wouldn't recommend this airline because they nickel and dime you with added fees that add substantial cost to your trip. Had to pay $30 for checked bag, $35 for a carryon and get this...you have to pay extra just to get a seat!!! No joke!!! The seats are uncomfortable (really hard) and you get hardly any leg room. This airline is a joke! We're just happy a wing didn't fall off in flight! read more
