It was good, I got the egg sandwich on an everything bagel. Service was awesome super helpful and the location is pretty clean and well maintained. I recommend this place for a quick bite & coffee before a hike or a long drive.

I thought I was just wandering into a cute café. Turns out I stumbled into a cliffhanger in my own breakfast saga. Arrival & Vibe Pulling up, I half-expected tumbleweeds rolling by. Instead, I found parking with more than a bit of finagling and a bright, airy space with enough local art to make a hipster proud. Dogs apparently crash the patio like they own it--and honestly, they add to the charm. Coffee & Food Specialty lattes: They take their time and do it right.

Not at all cookie-cutter Breakfast fare: Egg sandwiches that don't embarrass their grandparents, a BLTA that is nice, and a lox bagel with dill that could be worth the trip. Pacing?: It's not a drive ‑ through, folks--queue up for the...

goods. The upside is that it's pleasant, so if you bring good company (or in my case a laptop) you'll be fine. Staff & Scene Friendly, not phony--no ice queens behind the counter, thank heavens. Like most people in the desert the staff are everyday people with eye-contact and a friendly smile. Pros: Instagram-ready interior with local flair Coffee is a cut above most choices in the desert. Seats inside, outside, even couch real estate Cons: It gets busy; it's atmoshere not commute friendly. Parking can be a challenge Final Verdict Frontier Café: Yeah, it takes a longer, but it's more a place to gather than a stop-and-go. Between the lattes, laughs, and loungy patio dogs, it's worth every second.

Came down from LA for a quick trip and was able to try this coffee shop out! The atmosphere was nice and it was a huge area that allows people to eat their breakfast and drink their coffee without being confined to a small space like how some coffee shops are back home. The service was quick for us ordering 4 drinks. The espresso pulls weren't too sour and the coffee wasn't too overly sweet. I did try their maple banana cold foam but it basically sunk to the bottom before I could try it individually. Overall decent coffee sho would go again if i'm in the area.

We grabbed coffee and sandwiches here on our way to the airport from Joshua Tree. The service was quick and there was a lot of seating for smaller and large groups. There's also a little outside patio and the cafe is connected to 2 little shops.

Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon just before heading over to Joshua Tree. There's plenty of free street parking nearby and on the side streets. Definitely anticipate a wait on weekends; we were fortunate to not have a big line when we came in but after we ordered there was a huge line that formed. The cashier was friendly and while there's a lot of indoor seating; it can definitely fill up quick so don't count on it. Tuna Melt 4/5, this was super fresh and a good big meal to get started before hiking!

The flavors for lattes were so good! I had the salted maple latte with banana cold foam and I LOVED it. I wish I could go back for that any time! I also loved my fruit and yogurt parfait no matter how simple it was; the yogurt was especially thick and exactly what I wanted. The rest of the group had some good bagels and sandwiches. The wait was not too long for how many people there was there that Sunday. We also were able to grab a table for the six of us. Cool people work there too!

This place was suggested by chat as a good place to work. And it was! It is spacious inside and the workers r very chill no one rushing u.. alot of people here r here to stay and work or chat. The food menu looks good but already had lunch but ordered a oatmilk matcha latte with the special salted maple banana cold foam. The matcha was weak and cold foam not that foamy.. but at least not too sweet. Just wanted to get something to support the business anyhow. They have alot of outlets and internet so def a good place to come to work if ur stopping by passing by or in the Yucca Valley area!

Frontier cafe is a conveniently located cafe on 29 Palms Hwy with your standard cafe fare as well as some gluten free and vegan options. I came here for an iced coffee on the way back home to LA. The cafe is large with lots of room to study, read, play board games, etc. I didn't get any food but they had lots of sandwich and salad options. Service was pretty standard. The decor had rustic charm. There are some vintage stores next door. We happened to find street parking but I'm not sure if they have their own lot.

Sausage, Egg, and Cheddar: 4/5 This was a great deal. It tasted like a sandwich you could make at home in the best possible way. I really like veggie sausage patties, so brace for it since it's the main protein. The mayo they use was tasty and did not overpower the sandwich. I loved the very small salad of arugula on the side, a great way to brighten a normally very heavy breakfast. Americano: 4.5/5 Strong, dark, and not acidic. My perfect Americano. If you like something with lots of complexity, especially fruity notes, you may not like this. Tempeh Bacon: 3/5 This was a side order and they give you a good amount! It was very smoky, maybe a little too much liquid smoke, and salty. While I know it is trying to emulate bacon, it wasn't crispy at all. It was just kind of wet and salty, mot my favorite. It was very tasty crumbling it into the potato salad though, I would recommend doing that. Potato Salad: 3/5 Flavor was decent and very traditional. I'm not a big fan of celery so I was glad this did not have any. The dressing tasted fine, but it was strangely separating/curdled. Also, the potatoes tasted old, you know when they get kind of leathery and shriveled from being in the fridge for too long. Ambiance: Casual. It has a desert hipster kind of vibe. Service: The staff was nice but food came out painfully slow. We waited for almost 20 minutes for a sandwich. Parking: Street parking on a wide street.

We came here around 9:45 AM on a Friday, and there were about 5-6 people in line ahead of us, so the wait to order was around 15 minutes. The café was packed with people working, playing chess, eating, and catching up with friends, which gave it a really lively community vibe. What I ordered: *Cold Brew : delicious and refreshing. They also have a self-serve station next to the counter with honey, simple syrup, sugar, and other add-ins so you can customize your drink. *Green Dream: light, refreshing, and a really delicious sandwich. The employees were extremely friendly and upbeat, and the service attitude was phenomenal. They also have a complimentary ice water station, which was a nice touch. There are plenty of seats inside, but because it was so busy, all the tables were taken when we arrived. There are also a few covered tables outside, which is where we ended up sitting. It actually worked out great because there was a nice breeze. The only downside was that it took over 30 minutes to receive our order, which felt a bit long considering what we ordered. Overall, though, the food was delicious, the coffee options were extensive, and the service was fantastic. It's clearly a popular local spot with a great atmosphere.

So good, we came twice. Jacki and I had breakfast here two days in a row. The tuna melt & the blt + an egg on sourdough were a perfect mix to split. We loved the coffee, outdoor seating and energy all around. It's super cute inside too with delicious food, great service, and on a fun street with tons of awesome stores.

Delicious food! My friends and I looked for a place to eat on a whim and we came across this place on Yelp! Fantastic food, cute store vibe, and close to a lot of vintage stores and gift shops! It was very close to our Airbnb and Pioneertown. The food took a bit of time to come out but it was quite busy on a Friday morning. Busy but spacious spot with filling food (4/5 Green Stars) I arrived at what was probably close to peak time - around 10 AM on Sunday. The line was quite long and the food took a good while to arrive. I would have been wondering if it was forgotten except that I could see that everyone's food was taking around 15 mins to come out. I didn't mind - I had my coffee and excellent people-watching entertainment. The clientele ranges from locals in cowboy gear, rainbow gear, or tats and baseball hats, to tourists, UCLA hotties in faux fur, and geeks on laptops (that's me). The contrast is pretty funny. I appreciated that the server at the counter took a minute to explain that they only use veggie sausage in their sandwiches so there's no chance of a mix-up. My breakfast sandwich (veggie sausage, egg, and cheddar) was very filling and the side of veggie bacon (seitan) was tasty but salty. (Pro-tip: take some veggie bacon for your hike as salty snacks are good to replenish your electrolytes). The coffee was just okay - I just had a drip and it seemed over-roasted to me (I've heard others say this about beans from Joshua Tree Coffee). A medium/light toast would be better, in my opinion. Prices are reasonable and there's a nice mix of cool inside seating and sun or shade outside. Props to the friendly staff. I'm giving the Frontier Café 4.5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, based on the following: * A large amount of the menu is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. * It's actually a genius move to just replace regular sausage with veggie version and make that standard in the breakfast sandwich. It's an excellent way to show people who might otherwise never try the veggie option, that meat substitutes are pretty good these days. * Cool homemade items like vegan bacon (seitan) and vegan cookies. * Coffee beans are organic - from Joshua Tree Coffee, I believe, since they sell their beans there too. JT coffee is above-average in terms of environmental impact. * Food is served in compostable trays. * I like the little details like fair trade certified sugar and the interesting United Sodas drinks for sale. * Inclusive place that feels welcoming to everyone and, through this, brings people together. * Room for improvement: ditch the beef. It has much larger environmental footprints than other meats.

If me saying I visited Frontier Café twice in one weekend on a Joshua Tree trip doesn't speak for itself, I'm not sure what more to say. Stopped by for a healthy wholesome lunch on our way into a weekend getaway and ended up back for round 2 on our way out. Had an iced matcha latte (refreshing!), lox bagel (delish!), and yogurt parfait (simple yet perfect!) during my visits but really just wanted to try everything on the menu. The simple, fresh, and whole ingredients are always inviting to me. The interior is super cute with a variety of seating styles for groups of all sizes, the little trinkets tell a cute story, and the space is open and airy. Seems like the café is a favorite for locals and passerby's alike because it was busy both times around. I've already recommended Frontier Café to a couple friends and will continue to do so. read more

So fresh and so delicious! You'll pay for it but every penny is worth it. 100% recommend stopping by if you're visiting JT or just passing through. Staff were super nice and everything was clean. My mom and I split a beet & arugula salad (A TOTAL MUST) and chicken salad sandwich. The sandwich had one large slice of heirloom tomato which was the perfect texture pairing for the sandwich. Came in on a Tuesday afternoon and it was fairly busy with only 1 available table for seating. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very nice interior decorating with a hipster vibe and LGBTQ+ friendly! Had a good array of food and drink options. Ordered the Prickly Pear Matcha and Iced Mocha. The matcha was juice based and very refreshing and the mocha was good as well. Surprisingly long wait for the sandwiches though hence the 4 stars but they were really tasty! The Green Dream was delicious despite not having any meat but the potato salad had to be the best item we ordered. A must order if you come! Definitely pricey but not surprising considering it seems to be in a tourist destination. Nice shops surrounding the area as well. Overall, had a good experience but not sure if I'd be a regular with the high prices. read more

Located close to Joshua Tree, this cafe is a great stop for anyone looking for a good meal on the way to the park. My friends and I came on a Sunday morning, and the cafe was packed with people. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get our food and about 10 to get our drinks, but the wait was worth it. I got a Tuna Melt, it had a good savoriness that was balanced out by a slight acidity, one of the better tuna melts I've had! The cafe itself has a nice cozy vibe and lively atmosphere, I'd recommend Frontier Cafe! read more

VEGAN REVIEW Came here for lunch on our way to Pioneertown. What a hoppin' spot! Long line to order, but went quickly. The wait for food was not too bad, either. Frontier Cafe is quintessential Joshua Tree: a mashup of art decor, friendly service, good vibes. The menu is simple - breakfast items served all day followed by salads and sandwiches. There are a few specials for the day (I think) that give the menu a little personalized touch. I opted for the tuna melt ($15.00) which is tuna salad, pickled onions, melted swiss + mayo on rye. Honestly, this is as classic tuna melt as tuna melts get. They do a great tuna salad (not runny whatsoever) and I really liked that rye bread was used instead of sourdough. Delish. The BLT was quite good as well. Both are really good versions of your favorites. I loved the convenience of the cafe - order at the counter and seat yourself. First of all, I will definitely be back here! Secondly, the staff was very helpful and kind! My husband and I went for the coffee as I'm a self declared coffee connoisseur, so I LOVE trying coffee from different shops but this was hands down one of the best cups of coffee I've had. This place won me over more when I looked over at their menu and was in disbelief that they offered GLUTEN FREE BREAD!! A rare find indeed. I swear this sandwich was the best sandwich ever! I loved the vibe in this place as well! It was busy when we arrived but I noticed everyone receiving their order fairly promptly. I have to give a shout out to the whole staff. The vegan blt was pretty good! It was more like a tempeh sandwich but it still hit. It was a tiny bit too salty in some parts of the sandwich but I liked it it was well sauced up and so many greens lol. Forgot to take a pic but the beetroot latte with oat milk was soooo good. Such a gem in the desert! Frontier Café is cozy, inviting, and has plenty of seating...including the cutest window spots and a charming front covered patio that's perfect for soaking up that desert vibe. The staff was so friendly, and the coffee was on point. I had their iced unsweetened mango black tea; super refreshing. Oh and the tomato jam toast with goat cheese, which was absolutely delicious. Their selection of toasts and sweet treats was wild (in the best way). Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to whenever I'm in the area! read more

Decent menu (as long as you're not gluten free cuz they only GF bread choice they have is Udi's. ) Espresso drinks are weak--if you want a quality coffee, this is not your spot. Staff is hit or miss, either grounded humans being totally on top of it or staff turned away from the counter laughing over whatever's on their phones while you wait at the counter for them to look up. Seems like some more loving quality control from management, some real espresso machine training, and some good Spotify playlists could really upgrade this spot to a place more locals would want to be regulars a. But I just get the feeling the owners don't really care about any of this stuff cuz they have the tourists. It's sad to have such a hi desert institution be so mediocre. read more

We were recommended here for breakfast while staying in Joshua Tree, and it wasn't that long of a drive from there. It's a pretty large, open cafe with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (and they allow dogs in the outdoor seating!). It's great for a quick bite, a sit down meal, or a place to catch up on a bit of work. Breakfast was pretty good! Really enjoyed the classic egg sandwich - well-toasted bun, and the herb Mayo brought the whole sandwich together. Lox bagel was also tasty - could've used a few more capers, but an overall delicious bagel. They have a pretty good cafe menu option, too. The drinks we got were pretty good. They were unfortunately out of all of our first picks for coffee drinks, which was a bit disappointing. Parking was only street parking while we were here, but there were plenty of options. A good stop for breakfast. read more

Wonderful food and they offer gluten free toast. The restaurant is spacious bother inside and out, and there are some share-table options. The staff are always friendly and super efficient. Solid to-go spot when you're in Joshua Tree. We came here for a quick breakfast before heading out for a long drive back. It seemed like a lot of people were thinking the same because the line was very long and it took us almost 30 minutes to get our food in the morning. I wanted to try something unique so I got the everything bagel with a cashew artichoke spread ($4.75). The bagel was pretty toasty and while the spread was good, it was way more chunky than I thought it would be, so it was pretty hard to actually spread evenly on my bagel. Overall, it was good, but I might make the trek to drive further out and try to find a spot that is less busy. read more

One of my favorite coffee shops I came across in Yucca Valley! Came here twice during my stay and each time ordered a Hot Pistachio Latte with Oat milk! My friends and I all ordered different drinks and the top favorite was the pistachio latte, sugar free vanilla and mochas! The staff is extremely friendly and open to providing suggestions if you're unsure of what to try. We didn't get a chance to taste any of the food but the Tuna Melt looked really promising because they make everything fresh to order. I loved the decor and overall vibe of this place. My friends and I stopped here for a quick breakfast Monday morning. They have tons of coffee & tea options and a variety of sandwiches and pastries. I opted for a prickly pear palmer lemonade and a classic egg sandwich. The prickly pear palmer was sooo good!!! Refreshing and sweet. The classic egg sandwich was also yummy. Absolutely delicious! Frontier Café never disappoints -- their sandwiches and coffee are incredible, and the customer service is always so friendly and welcoming. Frontier was a perfect start to my Friday! I was in Joshua Tree / Yucca Valley for a quick-cation. After a gorgeous mother nature day in Joshua Tree National Park and having a semi-fasting night -- going to Frontier Café for the most important meal of the day was perfect! Of course at 6:30am I'm in bed Yelping around for some breakfast spots. This popped up as the first location. The name of course caught my eye (being a big Disneyland dork, I thought Frontierland lol). Also my friend was vegetarian and he is selective on coffee. This spot looked great -- they have what looks like customizable and special coffee and their avocado toast looks delicious. For me -- I was eying the Lox Bagel. I need my omega-3! I got a Lavender Latte; so good! Love myself some sweet aroma in the morning where I immerse in nature and the frontier. The bagel and lox hit the spot. I love capers and lemon. So refreshing and with the smooth cream cheese. Totally delightful! The overall vibe is local. They use Joshua Tree Coffee, which I love. No wonder why the coffee tasted un-Starbucks. They have local artist work on the walls and even sell some local gifts. It's charming. It definitely was the hippie/vegan/desert vibe. Bo-ho had a little influence too. There is inside and outdoor patio seating. Parking is behind their adobe orange building or on the street. The staff that worked there were super sweet as well. A favorite spot in Yucca Valley! Frontier Cafe is a made to order light bites and coffee shop. You order at the counter and can sit in their indoor or outdoor space. There is one table for large groups, but otherwise, tables are for smaller parties. The food and drink here is a stand out! I had a delicious BLT with avocado that came with such a tasty aioli on it. Bacon was so crispy and cooked perfectly. Really good! I also ordered a matcha latte and appreciated they had all the alt milk choices available and lots of syrups in case you want to spice things up. Stopped here on the way out of town since The Sourdough Cafe down the street (our original plan) was closed. What a major disappointment for me...I was looking forward to my first cup of joe for the day. What I ordered was an Iced Cold Brew with SF vanilla syrup and oat milk. What I first got was a plain cold brew...no biggie, I figured they could easily make it right. Took it back, and was given an overfilled cup of bitter, watered down, curdled, trash of a coffee. DELICIOUS coffee & sandwiches! Visited Joshua Tree for the first time and my parents and I made our first stop here on a Friday mid-afternoon! A bit of a line (7 people before us when we arrived) but for good reason! I'm from LA and this shop is on par with amazing quality coffee. The vibe is hipster-like filled with so many cooler people than myself (the fashion here is superb!) It's attached to/next door to a touristy hipster $$$ cute clothing shop filled with boho clothes, Tees, cards, magnets, candles and more! (Coffee + shopping-- a great combo right?!) Our coffee came out within reasonable time, but the sandwiches... a while. We waited ~10 minutes to order food in line, ~10 minutes for drinks to come out (after ordering), and ~30 minutes for sandwiches to come out (after ordering)... but worth it! They have 3 bathroom stalls in the back. Overall, a must-stop place if you're a coffee lover like myself and also happen to be hungry for some food! read more

We didn't expect too much looking up coffee spots here in Joshua Tree. We stumbled across Frontier Cafe based off of their Yelp review and we were decently surprised of their selection! After a very thorough inspection and analysis of the menu, we decided to go with the prickly pear palmer and the honey lavender latte. The prickly pear palmer had a nice sweet and sour tangy taste with a dash of iced tea flavor. It was such a refreshing drink while being in the desert. The honey lavender latte has hints of floral with a warm, sweet honey base. It's a very likely drink for individuals who don't want to be completely wired from the caffeine. Expect this place to have long lines because of their great drinks. The people in the back are churning out food and drinks as fast as they can so I commend them for their hard work. read more

We made the mistake to go on a Sunday. The breakfast portions were small and it too over 30 mins for 2 drinks. Then we still had to wait over 30 mins for our two sandwiches. Definitely a place for people with patience or learning to be patient lol vibe was nice. read more

Classic breakfast and lunch items served with a flare, we make our food from scratch using local and organic ingredients whenever possible. Our coffee and espresso drinks, roasted locally, are always organic and delicious! We have a small selection of baked goods, made in-house, and a curated selection of craft beer and wine. Come enjoy any time of day.

History

Established in 2016.

Originally the location of a corner store, then two different drugstores, our location on 55844 29 Palms highway was transformed into a coffeeshop in 1998. The local favorite pre-dated the arrival of Starbucks and served coffee and music to locals for 11 years. The location remained vacant until Cafe Ma Rouge took over the space and continued serving coffee, pastries, and food to patrons for several more years. When the location became vacant in 2016, three bright eyed young men signed a lease and opened Frontier Cafe. Each of the three owners take a hand in managing the business, contributing their own flare to the food, atmosphere, drinks, and music. In Yucca Valley, Frontier Cafe has found its home. We hope to remain here in perpetuity, serving delicious drinks and fare to our favorite faces.

Meet the Manager: Nicholas, Nima, and Michael C.

Nicholas Christensen and Michael Zvaleko met at Thomas Starr King Middle School in Silverlake, Los Angeles. Their dreams for starting a business coalesced with the unique passion and management expertise of Nima Eslamieh when the three became friends after college. A unique series of events led the boys to their favorite high desert haunt (Yucca Valley, CA), where they found the location for their first restaurant, Froniter Cafe, and where they continue to live and work to this day.

Unfortunately, since we weren't familiar with the area, we didn't know exactly how much further we had to drive to our accommodations, so we couldn't imbibe more in such a welcoming environment. Overall, this place is awesome and we can't wait to go back and sit at the very lively bar and watch some sports!

Happy to report that these days they're always open! The bread is incredible, the pastries delicious, and the sandwiches are high quality too. The raspberry tart, the chocolate banana bread, coconut chocolate macaroon. Let me just say that the macaroon is out of this world. One thing I did not is that the inside of it is dry. I would suggest eating this with milk or an iced cold drink. It wasn't too packed for a Sunday. The cashier was friendly and I found it cute how she was holding her baby and working at the same time. When in Joshua Tree I would really make it a point to go to Luna's Sourdough Bakery.

A very cordial, pleasant, and kind young lady working there just the other day. A surprisingly lovely glazed donut I might say. But I kept looking around there thinking "in a small town like this how can they even sell enough donuts to keep this joint open but they obviously do". I could think of some simple things that could be added, but I wouldn't want to give away my secrets. All throughout the United States there are donut shops that have the same recipe apparently, not sure how that works? A lot of them are Asian run in the San Francisco area. I always laughed at the signs that would say "Donuts and Chinese Food" before walking in I would always say to myself: "Nothing like a good egg fu yung jelly doughnut"! Yeah, this spot could use a little more hipness for just spending a few dollars on some paint and artwork, etc. there would probably be a line more often. I don't know. I wasn't there on a weekend. Also, the beautiful new laundromat or remodeled laundromat next-door should really be a good revenue source for the hungry laundry goer....... But certainly grab a doughnut. They're very tasty. So keep heading up the road a bit to Joshua Tree as there are many cute little shops in the three block area there which I guess is called downtown Joshua Tree? I really dig all the new modern prefabs that are popping up which appeared to be primarily Airbnb joints(?)- a lot of style man! Yeah, I'll be back. At 2 bucks and change it was just fine and a fair value. Glass case and pink boxes, you would think that's charming, it's not. The decor is firmly stuck in the 70s but not in that mid century stylish way. The laundromat nexr store was freshened and modernized recently. Some thought and about 15k could offer much needed updates. Don't change your cashier though, she was wonderful.

We recently visited the Frontier Cafe in Joshua Tree and had a great experience. When we arrived mid-morning, there was no line so we were able to easily look over the menu and place our order at the window. The cafe offers a good variety of vegetarian breakfast and lunch items, which is appreciated. I ordered a tasty sausage, egg, and cheese bagel along with an iced matcha latte, both of which hit the spot. By the time we finished our meals, a line had formed out the door as more people came in search of the Frontier's fresh, filling fare. The cafe uses an order-at-the-window system that keeps things moving efficiently. We enjoyed our food at one of the picnic tables out front while taking in the beautiful desert views. There's also a cute gift shop attached to the cafe that's worth browsing. Overall, we had a very positive experience at Frontier Cafe. The food came out quickly and was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere is casual and charming. It's a great spot to start your day if you're exploring Joshua Tree National Park or just passing through the area. We'll definitely return next time we're nearby! read more

This place is awesome. Stopped here to get some breakfast and the vibe is totally chill. Door man was cool. Cashier was cool. And the girl that brought us everything was cool. They have clear signage with their Covid rules posted (6 people at a time, wear masks, etc). The wait was a little long but not too bad. They seem pretty busy. They don't have a bathroom for customers yet but they said when they reopen it'll be available. I'm definitely coming back. I got a classic egg with bacon and a green dream sandwich with this crazy walnut pepper sauce they have. It was amazing! I think I found my new fav spot for food. Their kitchen does close kind of early though (according to another clear sign) so make sure you go early!! Highly recommend. read more

My wife and I have patronized FRONTIER on numerous occasions on our way to or from the base. Easily accessible. Coffee is delightful, food is OK (although overpriced for what it is). However, it nearly always appears dirty and dusty (rubbish overflowing in the bins, interior furnishings, tables and floors not properly tended, foul smelling at times, be it sewage or burnt food), and often the lines and wait times are simply maddening! Further, the staff at large (baristas and food handlers alike) are simply unprofessional, ofttimes quite distracted, uncaring and have even been flat out unkind towards us. This behavior is most disconcerting and off putting, and is just bad manners. But again, we enjoy the locally roasted coffee. read more

Delicious Stop on the Way to Joshua Tree! We stopped by here on Thanksgiving weekend during our road trip to Joshua Tree National Park, and it was an excellent decision! The food was incredibly fresh and delicious. We ordered the everything bagel with homemade herb cream cheese (amazing!), yogurt and fruit parfait (best I've ever had!), and mixed greens sandwich (super healthy and tasty). My hubby raved about the chicken salad sandwich. The standout for me was the homemade herb cream cheese - I'm still dreaming about it! And my toddler devoured the entire yogurt and fruit parfait. Highly recommend this place for healthy, tasty, and fresh food. Perfect pit stop on the way to Joshua Tree! read more

Really great spot to stop! It's in this area near vintage stores and other cute shops. Loved lunch. I got the green dream sandwich (which is vegan) but I added Swiss and it was *chefs kiss*!! The breakfast sandwiches also looked really amazing. The coffee itself is alright, not the best and not the worst. They have a lot of options and mods though so you can pretty much get whatever you like. They have great tea options and they make the lemonade in house. They also make a Lavender syrup if that's your jam! Staff was really hip and young. Super nice though. I would definitely come back! 5 stars overall. Had a great lunch and great time. read more

Such a shame that Ma Rouge was closed and the Frontier took its place. Ma Rouge had class, great atmosphere, great service, the best food and still that small town wholesome vibe. The Frontier is a joke. Horrible limited menu and it feels like it's run by a bunch of high-school kids who have no idea how to treat a customer or add class to their wholesome hippie vibe. I went up to order and the kid at the register had the cash laying on the counter as he was counting it. He took my order without even looking at me and barely even interacted with me. Stopped by on the way through Yucca. Great little spot to grab a coffee/ tea/ beverage and a quick bite to eat. I enjoyed the avocado tartine aka. avocado toast. Ingredients were super fresh, and the price was reasonable. I left satisfied, and will be back in future. The overall ambience is casual with a bit of a DIY aesthetic. Hopefully they get some more seating, as there were people waiting, and the place looked a little empty. The acoustic set playing in the background was an added bonus. Would recommend as a pit stop for a fix of caffeine and a little something to satiate any hunger. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Okay so I'm a huge coffee freak LOL. This place is so cute and so friendly as well. Super glad we decided to sop here on our way to Joshua Tree I order a cumin latte and omg, how didn't I know about this sooner?! I definitely recommend it it's life changing. Thank me later ahaha. They also have a wide variety of coffee drinks that'll fit every taste bud you have. They also had an aweome looking food menu that looked great, but we already ate - definitely will try next time!! Stopped by for lunch. Ordered the vegan blt, potato salad and peanut butter cashew cookie. The sandwich had the right amount of smokiness. Tons of flavor and was my favorite. The potato salad was vegan and I couldn't even tell. It was that good. Finally the gooey peanut butter cashew cookie was bomb. Again, couldn't even tell it was vegan. High five guys. Frontier Coffee is a gem. I had the lox bagel and a cappuccino--both were excellent. The bagel was fresh, with quality lox and just the right balance of flavors, and the cappuccino was smooth and well-made. The vibe is perfect for getting some work done or just relaxing. Well, I just stopped in to see what this little place was all about. And let me tell you they did not disappoint. May I recommend the egg sandwich and anything with lavender syrup in it. Make sure you go early because this place fills up fast, but it is entirely worth it because of the ambience. I always stop in when I have the time. One of the cleanest restaurants I have ever seen. Very cool place. I came up to Yucca Valley on a Sunday to wander and get some work done. Enjoyed a good coffee and a glass of Kombucha. This type of coffee shop is unfortunately an endangered species, so good on Frontier for providing a spacious welcoming space for people to spend time. Just tried the mojave salad and it was great. Their salads and sandwiches are a nice size so it keeps me full. They have PBR on tap which is cool because it's my favorite beer and they sell it for only $3 :). Don't forget to try the potato salad! read more
