If you're looking for typical burgers/fries/shakes then this is it. It's around the same price as fast food joints with a little better service and food quality. The root beer floats are very enjoyable on a spring/summer day. Service staff are extremely quick and very nice, have never had a bad experience with them. I gave only 3/5 stars because it's literally just another dive for fried food, nothing game changing. read more

This is a great throwback-styled drive-in. Its been in Huntington forever and is a staple around here. Atmosphere is cool, servers hook the trays to the window of your car, or you can sit at one of the picnic tables if you like. Best root beer around, bar none! Its made there in the kitchen. You can even buy it by the gallon. Hot dogs, burgers, BBQ sandwiches are also delicious but I would probably give the dog title in town to Stewart's. This place has the best root beer float ever! I absolutely loved the coneys, too. Service was great and I loved the whole 50's style bring everything to your car so my lazy butt can enjoy my food style. I would've given the place 5 stars but I wasn't a huge fan of the fries and other stuff I tasted on the menu. But the coneys and root beer was defintely OMG! Really great! We buy hot dogs and root beer from their all the time they're the second best place to buy hotdogs from the first best place is sam's hotdog stand. They're the best place to buy root beer from though. They have a McDonald's and a hospital conveniently close to it which is good they also have a school close to it as well, it's located in a great area near all the things I just mentioned which is perfect. read more

Been going to Frostop for years and the last visits have been less than memorable- at least good memories! Most recent visit was especially disappointing - first of all there seems to be a huge issue when paying with a card - they keep asking cash or card, to where one almost feels like it's cash only! Second, no refills on over priced soda fountain drinks. Third and very disappointing were the very greasy fries and o-rings that tasted only of old fryer oil! But, the most disappointing are what used to be good hotdogs! Smashed - squeezed and soggy! Think I need to find a new hotdog stand! Hours are posted as closing at 10:00. Pulled in at 9:00 but no one came to vehicle until 9:07 to be told they stop taking orders at 9:00. Not sure what they do for their last hour. Very disappointing experience. read more

My mother grew up in Huntington and remembers them building this Drive-In. Any trip on I-64, no matter what time of day it is, involves a stop at the Frostop. Yes, I've even had breakfast here. They have a pretty big menu, but honestly I've only ever got the hotdogs. Tasty tasty dog, awesome steamed bun, Cincinnati style chili sauce, and great slaw make a wonderful meal. Wash it down with quite frankly the best Root Beer I've ever had in my life served in a frosty mug. This place obviously still is a Huntington institution as no matter when I've passed through, even during the cold West Virginia winters, it's been packed. The car hops always do a great job rushing around to all the vehicles so try to tip them well. read more

We went for lunch around 1:00 today and it was packed!! There were hardly any parking places left. This is a huntington tradition. I live in Florida now and when I visit I have to come back to frost top. The root beer in a ice cold mug can't be beat. It's the best! I also had the beef BBQ and French fries, all were great! Had a great time visiting this place. I had a footlong with slaw, onion rings, and of course a frosted mug of root beer. It's just like I remember as a kid. Something about how the mug is so cold that it freezes the root beer on top makes it seem better. The service is great and quick too. I had my food in just a couple minutes and the two attendants checked on me multiple times to see if I needed anything. Can't go wrong with this place. read more

Ever since I was a boy my family would bring me to Frost Top. My mom would tell me stories of how when she was a teenager in the late 60s and early 70s of going there with her friends. Now when I visit Huntington, I bring my family here and always leave with a gallon to bring back to South Carolina to enjoy. I have never had better tasting root beer ever! A&W wishes it was this good! The iconic revolving root beer mug sign on top is a beacon that you know you have come for good food and good drink. This place still uses iconic car hops and window trays. Order the root beer and get it in a frosted glass mug. read more

While in Huntington this past weekend a couple of Marshall University students recommend this place. We were only looking for an afternoon snack so we ordered Root Beer Floats. They came in old fashioned glass mugs and were piled high with ice cream and had an ample amount of root beer as well. Our server explained that they still make their own root beer on site. The root beer was tasty without being too sweet and the soft serve ice cream hinted at the taste you would get at DQ. Be prepared to get messy as the mugs will be overflowing! read more

This was my first time to Huntington and this was on the list of things to see. The service was prompt and friendly. The wait time wasn't long at all. The food was good. It was the memories that made it great. The root beer in the other hand, took me back to my youth and summer days playing in the sprinklers and swimming in the ditch behind Beau Radley's farm. Frostop is a charming local landmark and a fun alternative to sit-down restaurants -- but, unfortunately, I haven't had an enjoyable experience here since childhood. The food is decent, but certainly not extraordinary. My root beer float was entirely ice cream and maybe a few sips of root beer. Refills aren't worth the price. The fries are no better than something you'd get from the frozen aisle of a grocery store. And, from my experience, the service is consistently disappointing. We won't be returning. read more
