RIDICULOUSLY expensive!! My mom and I were passing through and thought we'd grab something to eat and go to the park across the street with our dogs for a fast food picnic. It was a nice day and we thought it would be perfect. This looked to be the only place in town that would satisfy that need, so we went through the drive through and ordered. Our total order was: 2 cheeseburgers (just regular, nothing fancy) 1 order of onion rings (to share) 1 chocolate malt (to share) Total cost: $20 and some change. No joke. On the way to the park, I peeked at the onion rings, hoping to sneak one before we were out of the parking lot. When I opened the bag, I actually laughed out loud. There were 6 total onion rings. SIX! For any non-mathematicians out there, that's 3 apiece. When we arrived at the park and opened our cheeseburgers, we were equally unimpressed. I would equate these burgers to a McDonald's quarter pounder. The quarter pound being the weight before cooking. When I told that to my mom, she disagreed and said, "I think that's being generous. You DO realize that a quarter pound is 4 ounces, right?" It was a paper thin burger on a large bun with lots of lettuce and smothered in mayo. Remember those "Where's the beef" commercials? That's a funny commercial until it really happens to you. I gave 2 stars because the service was friendly, and the food, despite the cost and portion size tasted OK. If it was reasonably priced, or even a little expensive, I wouldn't have thought twice about it (either good or bad). But, for what we got, this was a stupidly expensive meal. The setting is fantastic. It's about 30 seconds away from the freeway, but it seems like you're deep in cabin country. The food is a bit inconsistent. We liked the burgers. Made to order. The kids loved their corn dogs. The French fries were an undercooked soggy mess. That's two out off three. Not bad, I guess. Felt the hamburgers and kids meals were appropriately priced, but the $2.99 large soda, weighing in at only 20 ounces, was undeniably a ripoff. A nice variety of ice cream treats. The order took a very long time to be served, which is no problem if you're relaxing locally, but is a huge consideration if you're just pulling off the freeway for a quick bite. The tables, shaded by umbrellas, make for a pleasant wait in any case. The five and six year old in our party loved the phone booth out front. I am a Pine Valley resident and avoid this place. Even with new ownership, the service remains horrid. With no other customers, it still takes 30 mins to get your food. We ordered 3 items and it seemed to throw the employees into disarray. One was too busy making food for her kids that were hanging out. After waiting, we watched as some of the food was left to the side as they scrambled to make refried beans as they "realized" they were out. I then had to ask that the food left to the side be redone, as it sat there for 10 minutes and was now cold. No idea why it is difficult to run a burger joint. I would rather drive to Alpine and eat at Freds. read more

Stopped on our way from phx to the beach...staff was extremely friendly. Burgers, fries and corn dogs were well worth the wait. The customer before us accidentally took our burgers, but the staff worked so hard to fix it and surprised us with hot fudge Sundays to make up for the mixup. My kids were so satisfied and happy. I know it's cute and very retro, but $10 for a malt and fries? You have got to be kidding. The fries were IDENTICAL to Del Taco's. Don't get me wrong. I love Del Taco's fries, but here they were $3.80 I believe. The chocolate malt was good, but nothing special. But I'm almost always willing to give someone a second chance, and I was in the mood for a root beer freeze. A 'large' root beer freeze set me back $6, and it was in a 16 oz cup - hardly 'large'. Great place old style burgers and handmade shakes. It's a family owned business and you can tell. Most of the employees live in the community and you can tell. Friendly service and solid food. Stoped by here on the way to AZ. Had an amazing Mountain burger, chilli fries, and dipped cone. They have very large portions enough to share between 2 people. It is best to just say that you should avoid Frosty Burger. The first thing you notice when you go there, is that their prices are outrageously high. You can get a good burger at a steakhouse for the price they charge at Frosty Burger. And their burgers are terrible too. You can tell when you eat them that they have been frozen and defrosted. The server was very nice, but we waited 30 minutes for a carne asada burrito and a bean and cheese burrito. The bean and cheese burrito was pretty bad. We waited over thirty minutes for 2 breakfast burritos. I asked for a bacon and egg and my boyfriend asked for steak and egg with fries and guacamole. The guy taking our order with long hair was stoned out of his mind. My boyfriend confirmed to him that I only wanted bacon and eggs he turned to the lady on the grill and said what I wanted she made a smart remark and then he reasoned "well that's how they wanted it" k, lie not true. Then when we get our food I have ONE piece of bacon and my boyfriend has no fries in his burrito and tons of EGG SHELLS in it. This blast from the past has everything you want. Deliciously creamy milkshakes all the way to hot and cheesy burgers! The fries are hot and perfect. Not being from the area and just passing through, the customer service was better than I ever expected. Even gave some ice cream in a small cup for my toddler for free. I live right down the road from here, and while I'd love to love Frosty Burger, it's too expensive and just not yummy. The ice cream (soft serve) tastes old, the service has always been shockingly slow, and the burger is mushy. Props to Frosty Burger for having a relatively large menu and for managing to stay open in such an out-of-the-way spot, but for the price (NOT cheap) and even for the genre, it's just not very good. read more

It breaks my heart to give this place 2 stars. Seriously. I have been coming here for as long as I can remember (probably the majority of my 30 years on Earth). Whenever my family and I would come up to visit my Grandparents, we always stopped to get an order (or 6) of their french fries. They had THE BEST french fries. The rest of their food is just ok, but their fries were really the bees knees. Well after our last visit, I don't think we'll be back. First of all, they got rid of the drive-thru which is such a bummer, but I suppose something I could overlook if everything else was in line. Secondly, it took AT LEAST 20 minutes for my simple order of 2 fries and a large soda. And then they only had Pepsi products (YUCK), so I landed on a Dr. Pepper, which ended up tasting watered down and was more like a small than a large. Once my fries finally came out I was horrified to find that they were no longer the crinkle cut fries I had come to know and love, but just regular old fries. To add insult to injury, these fries were entirely overdone and barely salted. They tasted like sadness and disappointment. :-( When I got them, I was so relieved that the couple behind me had not ended up ordering the fries to go with their vanilla cones on my recommendation that Frosty Burger had THE BEST fries. Burgers were soggy do to an extreme overload of mustard! The pickles were soggy as well not crunchy and fresh. The French fries were way over salted and either over cooked or undercooked. We didn't get our tiny little cups of soda that came with our combos even full to the top there was in my opinion way to much of a gap from the top of the cup to the soda. First of all if these little extra small kids cups of soda is what I get with my 11 dollar combo it should be filled to the top atleast and we didn't even get the drinks we asked for. With that, let me say that I am from Alaska and discovered Frosty Burger purely by accident....it is truly worth the visit. It is a little pricey, but if you are passing through or even if you have to make a small detour you should do so. I had the double bacon cheese burger ($6.04) not a bad price for a very tasty burger. The large "sack-o-fries" is $3.80 and while pricey for crinkle cut fries; they were perfectly cooked and evenly salted. Now the bad news, my wife had the Frosty Burger Corn Dog, ($3.24) not exactly a bargain by anyone's standards. You know they come frozen in a box because let's face it....NOBODY knows how to make a "from-scratch" corn dog anymore. The milkshakes ($4.55) were cold, thick, and very tasty. So, for a burger, corn dog, two lg. fries, and two shakes we were tapped for just a shade over $30 dollars. Expensive for a quaint Southern California roadside burger shack under anyone's observation. Alas, I still say worth it for the one time traveler or for the infrequent guest. If I lived in Pine Valley you would not likely see me there more than two or three times a year; but I WOULD STILL GO! Overall, a very enjoyable experience. The French fries are really good here, and the order of fries comes with A LOT of fries! The burger was tasty, a little small though. Their food is a little pricey, but it's a convenient location to refuel after a day of riding dirtbikes in pine valley and corral canyon, or on the way back down the hill from a cruise to Julian.
