Service was fast and friendly when I stopped in on a busy Saturday afternoon. I ordered the Motel Pool frozen cocktail and it was pretty tasty but a little too icy at first. Once it started to melt down it was easier to drink but the ice was a bit thick at first. First time visit, and I'll definitely be back. Give the Beard a try! I ordered the Beard's Oktoberfest specials, a soft pretzel and bratwurst. Both were excellent. The brat came with sauerkraut and German mustard on a soft poppyseed bun, and was accompanied by crispy fries. The Beard offers an extensive beer menu, and so I got a 5-flight (you can choose 4,5 or 8). I think on my next visit I'll split an 8 flight with my wife, so we can sample even more of their offerings. Our waiter was affable and knowledgeable, and delivered great food, drink and experience. Kinda a weird Star Wars vibe on the interior and the place could have used a good mopping down - guess the Friday night crowd got a little rowdy? Big game area in the back for board game enthusiasts. Im giving Frothy a 4 star but in actuality im leaning more towards a strong 3.8. They are there, but the small things matter. The staff was very cool, but could be a little more professional. I wont go to much in detail, but there were some interactions with patrons that could have been handled differently. Nothing bad just kind of stuck out to me. Huge beer selection from their own brews to other local brews that they like. I am ashamed that I cant rememeber any of the names of the beers that I tried, but I was not dissapointed with any of them. For your first few times there I highly reccommend getting a flight as theres a lot of beers to try before finding your favorite. They also have a decent sized food menu I got the Smash Burger with a side of Mac. I was actually pretty surprised at the quality of my burger. It was juicy and properly seasoned. And whatever sauce was used on the burger really elevated to the level it was at. I wish i could say the same for the Mac n Cheese, it was good, but kind of boring. I strongly believe Mac n Cheese should have other flavors besides cheese. It wasnt even gooey and cheese pulling that I would expect from a place serving Mac n Cheese. A group of about 15 of us were there yesterday, 11/16/24 about 5/5:30 we all got a drink and I did a toast to my friends...I was toasting our new President. When the bartender yelled across the bar "no politics in here" I said it's not politics it's a toast and he repeated himself and then told the other bartender to tab us all out...which was not an issue because I won't spend another dime there and hope that by sharing this many others won't either! I guarantee you had my toast been sexually explicit, rude or crude he wouldn't have said a word. But what is even more ridiculous is that my toast was over...he could have kept his mouth shut. Nice to have another place to meet up with people in Summerville. Lots of beer options and and the flights enable you to try different beers before committing to something else. Tried their nachos which were pretty good but seemed expensive for what you get (adding any meat to the nachos set the price at overpriced in my opinion). They were playing some good music and have different events like trivia and bingo. I was a little frustrated that they encourage you to order through the QR code and not with a server. It caused a little bit of confusion with our party and it honestly would have been way easier for us to just place an order up at the bar. read more

Frothy Beard Off World is a craft brewery and kitchen that opened in Summerville, South Carolina in September 2021. It is a secondary location of Frothy Beard Brewing Company which opened in Charleston, South Carolina in 2013 and was founded by friends Michael Biondi, Steve McCauley and Joey Siconolfi. The trio all met when they were students at Clemson University. After moving to Charleston, they quickly discovered that they shared a passion for home-brewing. After realizing how much time and money they were spending on the activity, they finally decided to take the plunge and open their own brewery. The name of the brewery was inspired by one of their favorite books: "Lord of the Rings". The trio imagined a character from the novel enjoying a beer at the bar with froth all over his beard. Upon opening in 2013, they were only the 10th brewery in South Carolina. Originally located in North Charleston, they relocated to their current spot in West Ashley in 2017. The Off World location is known for their sci-fi theme. Although the original brewery is well-known for their tasty pizza pies, the food menu at Off World features Burgers, Sandwiches, Wraps, Burritos, and various Appetizers. My family and I recently visited Frothy Bears Off World while we were on an East Coast Road Trip. We were visiting our cousins who live in Summerville. Our first day in town, they brought us to Summerville's Downtown Historic District for some dinner and axe-throwing. While exploring, I pointed out Frothy Beard's storefront. I remarked, "I didn't realize that Frothy Beard had two locations." My cousins' response was "Neither did we." We decided to check it out after dinner. We totally loved their sci-go theme. The whole taproom is decorated with props and memorabilia from Star Wars, Star Trek, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I decided to order an "¡Ándale! Pale Ale" which is brewed with Jalapeño and Cilantro. It had just enough heat without being overwhelming. Off World also features crafty cocktails in addition to beer, so my wife ordered a green cocktail called "The Child" which she really enjoyed. Great drinks, great vibe, great place! Finally was able to visit Off World. I have been visiting Frothy since the days when they were in North Charleston. Now that they have a location in Summerville I can visit more frequently versus going to West Ashley. I appreciated the two machines in there making frozen goodness. I opted for the sour raspberry slushy and it did not disappoint! I also ordered a flight. I really wanted a pint of mermaids milk, but it was on the menu and out. That's when I chose the flight. I forgot how much I missed the peppermint porter. My friend and I came on a Friday evening and we stayed until closing at 11pm. If you are a Star Wars lover, this place is for you! okay let's just start off by saying the space decor makes this place awesome for anyone who geeks out on that stuff (me). The beer list was robust and had options for everyone, I had 2 beers and both were amazing. Not sure how frequently they rotate taps, but I would like to try more of the menu! Friend of mine and I decided to check the place out since it is under new ownership. And we are so glad we did! We went on a Satuday evening, around 7ish. It was full but not completely packed, so we decided to sit at the bar. They have a good menu, with a mix of things you can order - from full meals, to sandwiches and fries, to wings and nachos. They even have a little appetizer menu. I went with the chicken nachos and sooo glad that I did!! When that plate came out I, and quite a few people around me made an audiable WHOA. That dish is HUGE! And I dove in with enthusiasm. Delicious, crunchy and a really good chicken to nacho ratio. Now the cheese they use on it is shredded cheese that is melted (some people prefer liquid cheese, some dont care, but for nacho connoisseurs its an important thing to note). I posted pics of the nachos. My friend had a buffalo chicken sandwich and she loved it. They had live music that night and it was really the highlight of our evening. The music was great, not too loud that we couldnt talk to each other, and a lot of fun for sing alongs. And yes we did sing with no abandon and it was a TOOOONNNN of fun! There is a great choice of beers, wine and ciders - the taps line the back wall of the bar. Lots of new ones I havent heard of or tasted at that point, as well as some great oldies from local and far breweries. There is also a full bar if beer isnt your thing. The last thing I want to touch on is that there are these great tables that line the hallway next to the kitchen. They have video games with a small TV at each table you can play. I was transfixed when I saw this. As you can imagine, those tables are taken pretty quickly and stay a bit occupied because its so damn fun to be able to play some old school video games while eating pizza and drinking a beer with friends! My wife and I popped in on a Saturday night for a beer and some pub food. There was a healthy number of people but it wasn't quite packed. The space is decorated like a 20 year old man cave with homage to Futurama and Star Wars. The service was 10/10 and the food looked amazing. We settled on the French Dip and Nachos and my wife also had the Andale beer to drink. Everything we had was delicious and bursting with flavor. The beer had a strong jalapeño flavor to it, the French Dip had a wonderful horseradish and the nachos were just the right amount of peppery. It hit the spot. Our food was average or just below, the potato side dish was probably the best thing we had. But the main reason for the 1 star was the service and attitude of the manager. We were put in the back bc we had 3 kids under 8 years which was good bc they had pinball machines and a stuffed animal grab but the manager kept coming back (3 times) and getting onto the kids directly for acting like kids vs coming to the parents to let us handle. The last time he walked in and told them "go sit down" and then walked away as we were waiting on our ticket and they were playing by one of the pinball machine. Yes there's a sign that says so but it was unnoticeable. (My bad) 2nd, it's weirdly decorated with star wars stuff but at the same time has a semi-bistro decor. Some walls are crowded and annoyingly busy while others are sparse and boring. That really shouldn't matter if the atmosphere is epic, but it's not. Music was to low and the chick taking orders was a little rude... maybe because it was pub crawl night and a bunch of douchy runners were lingering, waiting in line for a beer. I suppose would be stressed out too. Nonetheless, lady, find it inside you to smile at your customers and make them feel like they're the only ones that matters in that moment - because they are! I have to give credit to the girl pulling the taps though. She was very nice and seemed to enjoy interacting with the customers. Disappointing in a word. The food looked like it could be good, but absolutely not this dish. The menu was misleading that it seemed house made beer battered fried filets. Turns out they tasted just like Gordon's filets from grocery store except it was cold. At least at home the air fryer makes it hot. $15 price which they made for less than $2. Not upset with markup if good but room temperature, poor quality food is unacceptable. Service was marginal at best, maybe that's why food was cold. We love off world, this is our regular hang out. Frothy beards beer is some of the best in the area. They have a really nice selection of guest taps, including Wine, cider, and a limited cocktail menu. Foods good, staff is excellent, (but shorthanded some times). The hunk of meat that was on the sandwich was an unidentifiable hunk of chicken, it was thick and I couldn't chew it. The sauce was subpar as well! I will not be returning! I love this brewery/taproom/restaurant and usually visit once a week. Off world is conveniently located in old downtown Summerville right across from the square. There are of course some hiccups considering this is a new location but I've never had an unenjoyable time here. They have many frothy brews on tap and available in a to go case as well as some guest brews. Wednesday music bingo is a blast and live music on Fridays is also awesome. My friend and I went here for lunch on Friday. We split the Southwest chicken salad and pretzel bites. One thing I loved was we mentioned splitting the salad so the waitress came out with 2 bowls with it already split! The salad was pretty good. I enjoyed the bbq ranch a lot and may need to incorporate this is my life. The pretzel bites were a perfect snack. We got it with the pub cheese which is more along the lines of pimento cheese in texture. I thought it would be like a dipping cheese. It was good though. Fun atmosphere too. Went inside to have a growler filled during hours and was told that they wouldn't do it because it was a "ticketed event" for NYE, even though they were standing around and doing nothing (There was only two people at the bar)... I've put up with a mouthy bartender a couple of years ago when I simply asked if they had a beer from wide awake brewery to which she almost had a meltdown moaning about not liking the people from that brewery so I decided not to go back. Seen they changed their name and figured it was at least under new management yet I still ended up dealing with piss poor service. However, the main bartender was super rude and distasteful.
