I really like Frys for a variety of grocery items and other knick knacks that are nonfood related. Their sales are decent and you can pretty much find anything you need (bakery, prepared foods, meat, seafood, frozen items etc) plus expensive gas. They also sell clothing and gift items. While out running errands I drove by this Fry's and decided to stop in as I did need to get some Diet Coke. Of course I ended up shopping far longer than I intended to as I needed to check out this store, lol. I really don't understand the negative reviews as this store has everything and so many specialty sections. They even sell clothes and shoes! I didn't browse that section as I'm sure I'm not going to find clothes that suit my taste in a grocery store, but still kinda impressive. I loved they had an olives and anti pasta bar $9.99/pound. Ended up buying some for hubby! One cool thing that I have never seen is their cooler section with drinks. It has pictures and prices of all the drinks inside. How creative and cool is that! They have a sushi bar with a lot of rolls for $6. I have tried their sushi once and no desire to try again, but it's convenient. The cheese section is vast. They also have a huge kitchen section with gadgets, dishes, and appliances. Again, very convenient one stop store. I was puzzled why the store was so crowded until another shopper told me it was senior citizens day. If you're over 55 years of age, you get an additional 10 pct off your groceries! Today when I did my grocery shopping, I was waited on in the Deli by Sophia. Sophia is one of the one nicest people that I have ever met at a Fry's store I say this because she did the following, not only with me, but with others: looking at and acknowledging customers when they approached the counter - make sure my order was correct - ask if I am waiting or continuing to shop - thank me for my order, all with a smile. This behavior is similar to the training received at the Ritz Carlton , Kelly Services , and Mervyn's. If more companies were to train and expect this type of service from their employees, prices would be secondary. Kroger Corporate should consider Sophia as a trainer for other in-store employees. It would make a big difference. I also want to thank Christian and the Lady at self checkout for their assistance. Feedback to Corporate - You need to rehire the vendor that previously made the croissants. The new croissants vendor product has no taste. The taste changed around November 2023. I tried twice more (to make sure it is not me). No change, still no taste. My family members noticed the same thing. I used to buy these all the time. No more. Thank you. read more

Cathy at customer service is fantastic. Kathy manager is great. Mary liquor manager is wonderful. I just wish the stock boys knew how to ROTATE the stock. So MANY times the new product is in the front and the close to expiration date product is in the back and so many many times finding product out of date- sometimes a week or a month and 2 weeks ago a few products 6 months out of date. The Pharmacy was horrible service I was waiting in line while Victoria at the pharmacy counted receipt rolls with the other store employee. Anyone with some common sense would have stopped the receipt count to assist the customer. She was rude and unprofesaional. I was helped by another associate that noticed I was waiting. Always a pleasant visit when I go to the deli for my wife's work lunch meats! The staff is ALWAYS so happy to help and lets me know how many are ahead of me if any. This Fry's is one of the larger ones and is always so bright and clean, when you need something there is always some available to ask and get the item for you. One of the worst frys I've ever visited in the east valley. Hear me out, there are many people in that place of work talk to each other however in my culture we talk to our employers/colleagues with respect and integrity. Not here. I've heard the store manager curse one of the employees out on the produce floor. I've heard this guy fire someone over the radio and customers heard it and felt uncomfortable. I've seen the deli manager and another lady in meat yell and talk to people as if they were garbage. Cherry on top is I was grabbing toilet paper one time and I saw a box of opened and consumed sushi that no one dared to pick up after themselves or tell a staff member. Also, there is a female assistant store manager or store manager of some kind that just talks to the deli manager for hours on end. I wonder what is actually getting done or what the purpose of that conversation is that they have to talk for hours and couldn't take it to the employee offices/lounge? This place, however, isn't all bad. They do have a nice selection of products and the majority of the staff are good, honest, and hard working people trying to keep their livelihood and their work life balance steady. For my folks that love a good deal, go here! I have mixed feelings about this location. We've been coming here since it was first opened a couple of years ago. While I've seen an improvement with customer service, I also see the inconsistency of it. The worse for me is the pharmacy staff. They really need to run through customer service training again. With that said, the store is clean, easy to find isles, friendly cashiers but need to have more staff in the bagging areas. I put in a grocery order and get a text message that they were running late, as per usual, this happens almost every time I place a grocery order and the text message says to instead pick up between 8 and 9 PM. I do not like self checkout. Why I use it to get out as quickly as possible is beyond me. The process seems simple, but sometimes it becomes frustrating. If you forget something (change, dog food, etc) and walk away just write it off. You'll not get a refund. Sometimes I think these corporations expect shoppers to make errors, it funds all the theft that comes through. I won't return to the massive Fry's on Higley in Gilbert because of the rude encounter with the self-checkout guard. She is the right person for the position. So I will stand in long lines and avoid self checkouts at all stores. Cashiers make a decent wage, I will support them. I think all stores should pay me and everyone else to check ourselves out. read more

Visited this store today and was checking out in a self checkout lane, which was malfunctioning, the cashier came over several times as the belt kept running my groceries back toward me and not toward the bagger. Then This RUDE Barbara came over and said we were ringing the items wrong, come on you scan the bar code and put groceries on the belt. Its not hard but system was having a bad day. She walks away saying my Husband was being an AXX, I called her out on it right away and she just kept walking away. We had another cashier call the manager named Chris and he apologizes for her behavior. Also, they have about 6 of their motorized carts are sitting in the parking lot with the battery dead. We finished showing and they are still sitting their in 103 degree weather. Mentioned this to the manager as well. I used go to this store at least 4 times a week. The produce department is just gross. Don't expect fresh anything. Go to Safeway or Sprouts. Much better quality. Checked out the grapes for days. Bottoms of the bags are rotten grapes. This is what you are purchasing. I have asked several times for good produce to no avail. Was there one day handycap man on a scooter was trying to get a watermelon. 4 men standing around produce chatting not one would not help him. I did. I advised the manager Ken or Kevin. He is an arrogant jerk. Ran to the produce department like a kid just to tell on me.. This was after he just dismissed all that I told him. The store is dirty, the employees are unhappy. The only departments half way good is the meat and deli. Go to Safeway if you want great produce.. Sprouts is good also. This place needs to be run better... I will not go back. This store has gone from bad to worse.. I was overcharged at the pharmacy and in order to get a reimbursement I had to return to the pharmacy and show proof of the extra charge, huge hassle and inconvenience. I'm done with that pharmacy for sure. I couldn't even exit the store because fry's chose to install some kind of automated gate that only allows customers to go through it while entering the store. Otherwise customers are trapped and are unable to get out unless someone just so happens to be entering the store through the gate while another customer is exiting. I assume these gates were installed due to high theft and crime due to open borders, THANKS CORRUPT & FRAUDULENT KATIE HOBBS & BIDEN! While trying to exit the store due to the pharmacy's inept mistake they made overcharging me, I couldn't get out. I tried to bypass this ridiculous security gate and it starts beeping. The employee working customer service had the nerve to tell me I had to walk far down to the other end of the store to exit. I said no I'm not doing that when my car is parked right outside the area where I was trying to leave. Very rude and unhelpful employees, the system for trying to exit the store is a mess and whomever decided to install the security gates clearly didn't think things through. I will gladly take my hard earned money and shop elsewhere not having to be inconvenienced and treated the way I was trying to exit the store. Also the self check out is an absolute disaster! Good riddance fry's! I will gladly shop at Safeway across the street that has no stupid security gate and is so much easier to get what I need without being overcharged and hassled trying to leave to get to my car. LOVE this Fry's - wish it was closer to me, so I often have to make a special trip to, what I refer to as "The Taj Mahal Fry's." The employees have been okay, and the store usually has whatever I'm looking for in stock when other Fry's might not - they even had certain items available during Shutdown when you couldn't find them elsewhere. The only drawbacks would be from the sheer size of the location -- it is quite a trek to get from one end of the store to the other and you may have to REALLY search for your items -- and the parking lot with its' very odd layout and reckless drivers. Other than that, this has been quite the beacon to the area and make you forgive the closure of the Val Vista/Baseline location VERY easily. read more

Frys is usually is a great place to shop. The last time I shopped this location they were grossly understaffed and the service reflected. I understand everyone is having a hard time with staffing but that's not why the 2 stars. I bought a couple bags of their Kroger frozen chicken wings that I planned to make for the weekend football game. When I thawed them out and dumped them out of the bag I was amazed how small the wings were. Sparrow wings are bigger. I was going to invite my neighbor over to watch the game and have wings but I was too embarrassed to serve those puny wings. Why is it that Fry's can advertise the benefits of using fuels points earned from purchases, advertise how low the gas prices are, but then only provide 91 grade fuel at premium prices? When I questioned the attendant, they claim their gas shipment didn't come, again. That's totally understandable, but... why then don't they change the advertised price to what they actually have available at the pump, not what people want to see. This seems like a bit of a bait and switch to me, and rather inconvenient if you plan your fuel stops. In the three minutes I was there, I saw at least 10 cars pull in then leave. Not cool, Fry's. We were excited for this because of the convenience close to home. Let's just say I'll keep going to Walmart on Greenfiled and the 60. These cashiers are outrageously mean. Not trying to pull the race card but I see them be nice to others and when it's my turn, that look of why are you shopping here? You shouldn't be here TYPE THING. Understandably reviews are all relative to individual experience but let's not shred this killer store over a few bad hires. Would you have wanted to hire/work during 2020? Sure I too had to deal with a loud mouth employee in customer service but after putting her in her place I had no issues - step up and handle the situation if need be. Moving on there is no question this location has the best selection and clientele for this part of the valley. The kids in the deli are always entertaining, the seafood guy has decent suggestions and their cheese selection is solid. Appreciate the wide spaces and little double basket carts! Produce and floral dept okay but could improve selection a bit - once the world is normal these Uber perishable sections will most likely grow. Agree - wouldn't shop for clothes at my grocery store butttt the Carhartt gear is fire. Thank you Fry's Marketplace staff for keeping us going over the past year!! This store is toxic. The cashiers and service desk associates are rude and unprofessional. They have nothing better to do than gossip rather than minding their own business. If you're at self-checkout and need assistance, most give you great attitude that you're "bothering" them. Office staff member accused a former employee of trespassing in the upper office level. The former employee was delivering an important document on behalf of someone. The document was handed to another associate on the clock to take it to the upper office level. She could've reviewed the cameras. That former employee was attending to a customer in front of the Star-Bucks having a heat stroke. Stabilizing her until the paramedics arrived. Rather than falsely accusing someone, try and obtain the fax first. Seen more maturity in grade school. read more

I realize that this is not a dept store and has bare necessities but having more dresses than mens underware is weird since you are stocking bare necessities it might be nice to have a variety of sizes , it was either S or XL Is that how society is now viewed S or XL? it seems this to be the issue in many places , even costco we've noticed this. He needed one pair of socks but had to buy 5 . Needed some boxers wears a M had to buy XL . This store is huge and it didn't seem like rhyme or reason as to the layout. frozen food was all over the store , not in just a few isles . Just confusing . You can count on it for staples like toothpaste etc when on the road , but don't expect much help elsewhere prob should have gone to target . Fry's has found a way to capitalize on a very specific market for people who enjoy fine spirits. The Kroger/fry's company has connections with distributors/bourbon trail representatives and has somehow purchased a majority of the bourbon coming to the state of AZ. Likely because both fry's and the distribution companies are from Ohio. After waiting in line for numerous hours I was greeted by terrible attitudes from the staff. People are going to be impatient when your company forces them to wait in line and camp out for things that they love. Get over it. Interesting that the whiskey drops are such a huge deal for fry's when the rest of the spirit/wine/beer selection is awful. I transfered my prescriptions to Frys. Spoke to a person Amanda. She was rude, indignant and inept. I spoke to the store manager about the situation. She said this would be taken care of.. It was not.. Go figure. By this time the screwed up all my prescription. I went there again spoke to Amanda. Again indignan. I advised her to cancel the prescriptions. Transferred scrips again to Walgreen. Frys would not release the prescription. Amanda was holing them up. I spoke to the main office three times... NOTHING AT ALL..... I work night shifts, so it's hard to get groceries. I was in urgent need of supplies, so I wasted 2 plus hours waiting for Fry's to open because I was sick of shopping at a 24 hour grocery with limited choices. I had a really stressful day and saw the new Starbucks holiday cups, which lifted my day. I've been trying to get a similar design the previous years and always missed out. I decided to buy a few cups for my friends and family as gifts. They were still stocking when I got there, so I wasted more time waiting for them to setup the full selection. I didn't see the sign that there was a limit. I don't think there was a sign when I was at Starbucks because I went back later hoping they might have some more designs out, and I noticed the signs. Although, I didn't stop to read it carefully as I was in a hurry to checkout since I was running out of time before I needed to sleep for my next shift. Plus, when I asked if it was okay to checkout at the grocery register, I thought the cashier said it was okay. I guess I totally misunderstood because when I finished shopping and got to the self checkout lane, the cashier started berating me and yelling that I ran off without paying for them at the Starbucks register. She made a big scene and people were staring like I was stealing. It was extremely offensive and mortifying. She never apologized for screaming and taking my cups out of my cart saying I couldn't take them over to Starbucks myself. She wasted more of my time explaining to a bagger how I was in the wrong and made him escort me a few feet away that was left to Starbucks. When I finally got to Starbucks, they told me that there is a LIMIT OF 2 PER DESIGN! I had 4 cups with all different designs/colors. The rude, old lady apologized to the Starbucks cashier and chatted a bit with the other lady. So, why couldn't she offer me a simple apology? I had to wait to checkout since the rude lady was still chatting. Before this experience, I was thinking about purchasing more after seeing the total. There were a lot of pretty designs. However, the whole experience just made me extremely upset and I rushed out after paying for everything. The total for 4 cups and 1 ornament was a little under a $100, which was decent. I wish I bought more. I always miss out on designs I like and settle. My last experience was equally as horrible. Perhaps, not as bad as this one. In the end, I wasted 5 hours just to buy 1 days worth of groceries, cups that I despise now, and a new Starbucks/grocery that I hate.
