Hoo boy, where do I begin? I came across this place while searching for a shop that could help me fix some issues with my Alpine head unit. All my audio was skipping. I did some research on my own and tried the basic fixes (resetting all my connections, etc) to no avail. I called a few other shops in my area and got a generic "We can take a look, but we sell other units to meet your needs." Of course I understand that they need to run a business, but it just didn't sit right with me. I decided to drop by FS Audio after work on a random Saturday- best decision I ever made. Frank took the time to listen to some of the issues I was having and was already poking and prodding at my radio before I even finished talking. He was VERY thorough in diagnosing what the issues could be and went through some possible solutions- replacing my radio was waaaaay at the bottom of his list. This was all before I even made my appointment. I appreciate that he explained everything so thoroughly. It was clear after talking to me for a good 30-40 minutes that Frank not only knows his stuff, but he's passionate about it. I cancelled the other appointment I had and decided to just wait a bit longer until I could bring my car back here. Come the day of my appointment- not only are Frank and Howie able to fix the issue with the radio, but they perform surgery on my dash kit and wind up not only leaving my radio in the perfect center position on my dash (no longer blocking the air vents), but they also left my radio sturdier than ever!! They discussed some of the things that the original installers could have done a bit better and even fixed an unrelated issue with some of my OBD components hanging- that was awesome! The fix came in well under what I was expecting to pay for repairs. The best part is that I know I paid for some QUALITY work from these guys. To say I'm pleased with their help would be the absolute understatement of the year. I've already picked Frank's brain about upgrading my dash cam as well. I brought in a Porsche 911 where I had the sound system upgraded by another shop. The sound quality wasn't noticeably better from the stock system so I brought it in to FS Audio to get their thoughts on why this "upgrade" wasn't netting better sound quality. I want to begin with Frank is a standup guy! He knows his electronics and has the best recommendations. I went to him after getting quotes from 4 different shops. When I went to Frank I explained what the other shops wanted to go with what the equipment that I had. Frank explained to me in details why each one wasn't a good choice as what I wanted wouldn't be reached. I wanted optimal sound with minimal rattling. Frank quoted me with a steep price. Yes, it was high, but after hearing the sound system on his Honda Prelude I was absolutely sold! I would like to rate FS Audio a 4.5 out of 5 for the following reasons... after having my car setup here with 2 x 12 in Alpine Type S's. 2 separate amps. My car reaches high RPM's and there is absolutely not subs woofing! It's kind of deflating. #2 I wouldn't have invested so much if I knew that my subs wouldn't be woofing half my drive. #3 it's weird as there are days that my subs woof my whole trip. I brought my own double din and Metra dash kit for him to install in my Lexus LS430 and the results were phenomenal. Frank and Howie rock! I don't look for "cheap" anymore because I learned you get what you pay for. I look for quality at a fair price and that's what I found at FS Audio. Service is what stands out here though. I came in with an audio issue on my 2015 Silverado. I had already taken it to the dealer twice and the second time they said it was the after market amp, which is why I went looking for a place like FS. Frank looked over the wiring and spent about an hour cleaning things up and checking out the wiring done by the original owner and/or shop he went to for the amp. Frank told me all the things they shouldn't have done, like using cheap aluminum wires that kept breaking off, not mounting the amp to minimize the cheap wire breaks and looping wire around the emergency brake . He did what he could and only charged me for the hour. He couldn't guarantee the work, since he didn't fix it but did say that the wiring was good enough to keep the audio on unless it was a bad amp. Sure enough a day later, I had the issues again and confirmed it was the amp. I went ahead a scheduled some time to install a new amp, re-wire everything correctly using quality wires and gauge as well as add an inverter in the bed for tailgates. I originally wanted to add speakers and a panel to plug and play a flat screen for tail gates, but my budget wouldn't allow it so Frank came up with the "bare minimum" solution to meet my needs. Frank was great about giving me options and not trying to up sell everything. His equipment costs were in line with most big box stores which was cool and convenient too. Not only does everything work again, but the sound is great and I have a new toy In the back to plug in more toys. Howie had the work done on time and is super clean! I don't see wires everywhere and where they mounted the amp, gives me more room in the back under seat. I can't even see the damn thing unless I really look for it. Looks like it came from the factory that way. The inverter was also mounted in the bed and looks clean too. Going to save up some money just so I can come back for some more toys soon. It looks like there has been a trend with some of the reviews for FS Audio. Unfortunately it was the same for me. I found FS Audio after going to another shop who totally botched a backup camera install and didnt even work. This (leave unnamed) shop had terrible running of wires, shortcuts, cutting into unnecessary cables, etc. Its quite an extensive list especially just for backup camera install. Well Frank at FS Audio thankfully fixed all of that and did an actual professional job. He did an amazing job and did it look like it was factory installed. Im talking removing seats to run wires, soldering wires, electrical tape, clips and ties for wire management. If you are looking to get it done right, Frank and Howie are the guys. The knowledge and experience is there and you can tell if you talk to them or just take a look at their shop. They do very high end big jobs so you know they are good at what they do. If you are looking for work done on your car, this is the place to be. Don't be like me and try to decide based on price or distance. Probably one of the best if not the best place for Car Audio in SoCal. I was looking to upgrade front speakers, add sub and an amp to my truck while keeping the OEM head unit. I shopped around for a bit and FS Audio was the only business that not only fully understood the set up I wanted, but came up with suggestions to simplify the system and achieve better sound quality results. In addition they do a proper RTA tuning which is a must for any digital amp with OEM integration. Their installation is not cheap, but you get what you pay for and no need to go back later like some other shops because you aren't happy with the end result. It turns out I remembered Frank, the owner, from his days at Traffic Jamz in Encino CA. so I decided to make an appointment to get my sub problem sorted out. Upon arrival at the designated time, Frank was able to diagnose the problem, fix the issue and button up the center console and dash all in about 30 min. for a super reasonable price. I bought a 22 year old minivan three years ago and never knew the alarm system was functional until I tried to re-connect the battery today. Blaring alarm and immobilized ignition system let me know that it works. I had no idea how to disarm, reprogram or whether uninstalling it would allow the car to be driven. I called the manufacturer, sat on hold for nearly an hour and then was told that they don't have any information about systems that old: take it to a professional.
