Stay away at all costs, unless you like having toe infections. I went to this salon on Friday afternoon for a regular pedicure. I was told it would be a 15 minute wait, which was pretty accurate. I chose a color and was taken to a regular pedicure chair (it doesn't have a massage function). The girl who did my nails was extremely rough. I get that they do a "deep clean" but she was definitely digging in way more than I've experienced at other salons. At one point, the girl asked me if I spoke Spanish. I said no, so she asked one of the women in charge to come over and translate. They asked if I was in pain. I told them not necessarily, that I know they're cleaning the nail bed, and that was that. I figured this was normal and part of their process. Like another reviewer commented, I also was not offered a drink - in fact, another woman offered me a drink (in what seemed like an after thought) as my nail tech finished my pedicure. It seemed to be out of obligation at that point as they definitely catered to their other clients (who they seemed to have a rapport with). I paid $18 plus tax (despite me paying in cash) and tipped my nail tech. However, if I had known I would get an infection, I would run the other way. Since the pedicure, my big toe on my right foot was sore. I figured it was the result of her being a little rough. However, when the pain didn't subside on Saturday, or on Sunday, I began to worry. I woke up today with an inflamed, red toenail/toe bed. I have attached a photo to this review so you can see for yourselves. It is extremely sore to the touch - it hurt even putting pants on this morning when the pant leg hit my toe - and I had to ask to wear open-toe shoes to work because the pain when putting on my regular flats was UNBEARABLE. So now I need to figure out what kind of infection this is (could be fungal, could be something else) and treat my toe on my own. I hope I don't need to go to a doctor for this, because then the pedicure will cost me a whole lot more than around the $25 I spent on it. This is unacceptable on so many levels. This is also the FIRST time I have ever gotten an infection from a nail salon. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I was looking for a new nail salon in the neighborhood and I always walked past this nail salon on the way home so I decided to give it a try. I'm not sure if it was a language barrier but as soon as I walked in and asked the front desk lady to get my nails done, she just BLATANTLY said, "no". At first, I was confused so I rephrased what I said, "no meaning you are busy or no you can't take me?". Mind you this was only 2pm on a Tuesday. This lady dug so deep into the sides of my toes that she cut me.... not once or twice... three damn times! I made an appointment and asked Adriana (the girl in the front desk) to give me the appointment with a girl good at deep cleaning. I'm always reluctant to get manicures because I always feel like I can do them better at home. I saw the great reviews and decided to go in to have my sns removed. I had Maria and she was fantastic. This was the best manicure I've ever had. She did not rush, did not hurt me, did a perfect job removing my cuticles, and the polish was great. I even rub the side a a nail during drying and she was not hesitant, did not chastise me or make me feel bad when redoing it. The owner is also very friendly and it seems like he treats his employees well. The salon is clean as well.I will definitely be back. Prices were average for Astoria, about $19 for a pedicure but I thought the quality was good so no complains! I am taking off a few stars, because I walked in recently at exactly 8:08pm. The salon closes at 9pm and after waking in, picking a color, I was told I could not get a pedicure as they close at 9. There were only two customers in the salon at the time (one drying and one having a pedicure) A full HOUR before they close they are turning down customers? This place gives a horrendous manicure and is unsanitary. I am very low maintenance when it comes to my nails so for me to be unsatisfied with a manicure that means it has to be really bad. I walked in and asked for a regular manicure. No gel, nothing fancy or complicated. At first I was impressed with the nice interior but don't be fooled like I was. I sat at the table nothing had been sanitized or wiped down from the person before me. The tools all came from one dirty bin. The cuticle cutters were given a single spray of what I assume was rubbing alcohol. That was the extent of the sanitization. I am absolutely disgusted and still mad at myself for not walking out. My manicurist was nice and all but did a terrible job. As you can see, my nails, especially my thumb is crooked. There is paint all over the place and not clean and crisp like I'd expect. My nails look worse than if I did them myself. There was no hand/arm massage or hot towel. Not even lotion. You can see how dry my hands look in the photos. I tried to ask the manicurist to clean my nails up but she spoke little to no English and did not really understand what I was saying. To be clear, her not speaking English is not an issue for me. Regardless of your language it was/is obvious that my nails looked and needed some cleaning up. To anyone reading this please save your time and money. Walk another couple of minutes down Steinway and go to Heavenly Nails. They do a much better job and are sanitary. A bad manicure is whatever sucks that I wasted money. However, as a healthcare worker myself, what I cannot stand and just ignore is unsanitary conditions. I'm considering reporting this place to the Department of Health. I'm so happy I came to this new salon on Steinway! I got a fill in 2 weeks ago, and I have never had acrylics last me this long, without a huge gap! The prices are a little up there (I paid $25 for a fill in with regular nail polish) but you pay for the quality and amazing customer service! I did fall and landed on my pinky (hence why its cracked in the middle) but usually by week two, a couple of nails have lifted and fallen off. They were quite busy but the owner he squeezed us in to get a pedicure and when I tell you it was the best pedicure I've ever had I mean IT. The nail tech was very thorough yet gentle with my feet and my pedicure came out lovely. The owner was very nice and hospitable he offered us coffee, tea, water or wine, which is a nice touch to make the nail salon experience much more relaxing. The next day we returned to get our nails done and that experience was lovely too ... they are usually crowded so it's best to get there early on weekends or make an appointment during the week. Total waste of money. $18 for a French manicure that peels within an hour... I have never had a manicure peel this quickly. Usually it lasts at least 5 days. I had such a terrible experience in Fuchsia nails this week, maybe the worst gel manicure I've ever had in NY. My normal nail place was closed for renovations so I tried it out after seeing the sign for a $32 gel manicure (beware, because for some strange reason they charge newbies $10 extra for removal if you have had your nails done elsewhere previously, the sign is a scam). My nails were all crazy shapes in the end, some square, some round, my nail technician was managing the place's playlist while doing my nails, touching her phone every three minutes to turn on a new YouTube video or skip the ads, which isnt hygienic since our phones are the dirtiest things we own!!!. I felt like the tools were not clean either, they did not come out of one of those sterilized bags as per usual which is gross. This place was subpar compared to other nails salons I have been to. My manicurist was not very experienced at all as she had to wipe off excess nail polish from every single nail, making the process a lot longer than it should be. She also cut two of my fingers when trying to remove extra skin so I had to tell her to stop and move on to the next step. As a result, my cuticles were swollen and hurt for the next several days. This is completely unacceptable as this exposed me to a possible infection. I will not be returning to this salon and would not recommend it to anyone else.
