The place is a bit divvy and is part of a truck atop/gas station, i.e. not a completely separate restaurant. Still, the food was really good and service very friendly. We had the BBQ burger, which was really nice and had great grilled onions. We had wings, which were also very good. Get a combo with sweet potato fries and you save a buck. Service was not that great. Pretty close to bottom of the barrel really. No one wanted to acknowledge me. Restaurant was empty but still took close to 30 minutes for two burgers. This place literally has a sign that says "World's Greatest Hamburgers" at the entrance. But during a Sunday lunchtime rush, there was only one cashier and one cook in the back. The poor cashier was running back and forth taking orders and then helping prepare the food. She was kind enough to offer a free soda and apologize before any wait even happened -- but after hearing that, a large group of travelers decided not to order and walked out. If you're going to advertise with such big claims, you should be staffed properly to deliver on them. There seems to be a serious management issue here. Either hire more people or rethink the signage that keeps attracting more customers than the staff can handle. By the time I started writing this review, I had already been waiting about 20 minutes for a simple order. I hope they address the staffing and improve the overall experience. Food used to be good at this chain. Now I go to any location and the food has gone downhill. Patties were fresh ground, onion rings were freshly made on site as were the buns. These places even used to have their own bakeries & butcher shops, with huge assortment of toppings. Visited this place and one in Georgia on my route and the quality at both places was downhill. Patties on both elk and regular burgers were overcooked & greasy, can only get stale white buns.. wheat is always in shortage but they still advertise it. Topping selection was now poor. You're lucky if there's even a ketchup & mustard dispenser and some dried up stale veggies. Both locations used to be busy all the time. Now I know why they are so deserted. It's a shame that TA petro has taken another formerly great restaurant brand and ruined it. read more

It's not your typical Fuddruckers as we know it. The menu was off the second I walked in. They want you to say Small/Medium/Large for the burger instead of the weight. Sorts of how you order McDonalds. They charge for individual toppings too. Items I normally order wasn't listed such as a ribeye wrap. Instead this location sells wings. They don't give you refills on fries although all others do when dining in. They also didn't have the jalapeño cheese sauce. I forgot to mention that this location is part of a truck/gas stop. The crowd (if any) are rough. I knew it was going to be bad when they have 1 cashier and 1 cook. I wouldn't recommend this place. Unfortunately, when we went in it appeared there was only one person working. So while my family and 2 other strangers stood at the empty register waiting to order, someone was in the back flipping burgers. After almost 10 minutes with no word or extra employee we saw the writing on the wall and left. This was supposed to be a quick top on a roadtrip but we wanted good burgers, sadly we ended up with McDonald's across the street. If staffing is tight this place should get the self-ordering kiosks to mitigate these issues. Tired and hungry for lunch, we pulled off the highway to the truck stop parking lot to find on Yelp a sandwich place to eat at. Fuddruckers (located at the truck stop) popped up and sounded good. It had been years since we went to Fudds, which was one of our staples in Maryland and in Texas. This place was ok. I got the medium size burger with fries and drink combo and my partner got the small cheeseburger combo with onion rings instead of fries. The food came out pretty promptly and each tray came with a decent portion of their respective side (fries/rings). The fries were nicely prepared - not mushy, with a crisp outside and nice potato meat inside. The onion rings were not greasy at all. I liked the breading. Nice and crisp and a good flavor. The burgers were prepared as ordered (medium and medium well). The fixin's bar has lettuce, sliced tomatoes, red onion, white onion, pico (which was good), pickle slices and jalapenos. The vegis all looked and tasted fresh. We enjoyed our meal. One of the two "freestyle" soda machines was broken, but the other had the items we wanted. The counter person, William, was friendly. The only negative comment I have is about the lighting of the place. I know it's a truck stop location, but it is lighted very low and was, in a word, depressing. It's unfortunate, because the food and service were decent, the fixins bar looked fresh and yet we sat there feeling like the owner was ashamed of the place. Kind of sad. William made sure to be a complete jerk to the first half of our family of 6 ordering, so we decided to say no thank you and leave...which we have NEVER DONE IN OUR LIVES!!! The location is inside a travel center. We were on a road trip and decided to stop at Fuddrucker's since the locations in our area shut down years ago. Place looked clean enough. William made us wait a bit to take our order. When he came, I washed for clarification for the burger meals (small, medium, large, & 1lb). He said "it's small, medium, large, & a pound". Thank you, Captain Obvious. I then said "does that mean 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, & a pound?" He said yes and then one of my little kids ordered from there (an overpriced adult meal). Next I placed another kid's meal for another kiddo. My daughter then asked if she could place an order from the kids' meal because she wasn't too hungry (she's over 12 and we get it, which is why she asked). However, William was a complete jerk and pointed to the menu and said "no, don't you see what it says?" This was strike two and three, so we all looked at each other and said we were just going to leave. 4/18/21: We were passing through the area on the way back to Richmond & my family wanted to stop here. We haven't had Fuddruckers in years. We ate inside & ordered 2 kids meals and a large bacon cheddar burger with fries. The food was pretty good. The restaurant was clean & marked off according to social distancing guidelines. My only issue, which I am taking a star away for, is the cookies that came with the kids meals & my soggy bacon. We got 2 sugar cookies & although they looked good, they were HARD AS BRICKS & very stale. I could've easily cracked my tooth on mine. Never again!! I can't say we won't go back. I really wanted to like this place. But walked out sad that a place I loved to go to as a kid has fallen. The hapless employees have been abandoned by management. There were no diet soda options in the machine. The bun wasn't fluffy and was soaked in grease and I had to ask to remake the burger only to get another pathetic sandwich which was cooked well done when I asked medium rare. I asked why this location was so bad, and the employees informed that new management was trying to cut corners. I hope this is an isolated incident and not business as usual for fuddruckers. The food service is very S L O W There was no ICE in the ice machine. There was also no Diet soda options When a customer asked about it all she got was a shoulder shrug Now of course it is near a truck stop, but truckers deserve fresh, fast food. Not hotdog buns so hard you can use them as door stops. Nor should the hot dog be cooked to the point that it is tougher than shoe leather Please put this location out if it's misery and give the truckers and traveling public something better No ambiance here. First and foremost, if your first time eating at this chain was this location, please don't write the whole chain off. At least for the locations in Pigeon Forge and Spartanburg, the food is fantastic, just not here. As someone who loves Fuddrucker's, I was excited when I found out there was one in the Richmond area while I was here on a trip. However, I never actually got it because despite showing up at 7:50 (they close at 10:30), they refused to serve anyone, stating the grill was down for 15 minutes. Since I had drove the better part of 6 hours already today and took a 20 minute detour to come here, I opted to wait. When the employees realized that unlike the other guests, I was going to wait, that 15 minute wait spun to 40 minutes and then an hour longer for orders already ahead of mine, and the customer service around this was nothing short of terrible. You don't shut your grill down for nearly an hour while the store is open and I think they were just trying to get out of working. While I would love to discuss the food, I can't as due to the service, or lack thereof, I never actually got to try it. And compared to the locations in Pigeon Forge and Spartanburg, this one was disgusting on the inside, and the topping bar had all the ambience of a discount motel breakfast bar. Overall, don't bother coming here, nor to the equally sketchy TA it's attached to, as you will be disappointed. I ultimately got Cracker Barrel outside my hotel, but this incompetence costed me 40 minutes. At the risk of sounding like a Karen, I will be calling corporate tomorrow as this is not what Fuddrucker's should be. Being a fan of the chain for many years and living in south Florida where there are still many locations, I stopped at the Ashland VA location to break up my long road trip. My medium combo cooked medium turned out just as I wanted it. The onion rings were slightly more spiced than I like. My only major gripe is the condiment bar and that it doesn't offer shredded lettuce nor sweet relish. The sweet relish is in the plastic packets you have to tear open and you'll need to dice the lettuce yourself. The food was excellent and the service was both friendly and prompt. This location didn't appear to have flatware available or I didn't see it. The restaurant has a very large floor space with sports playing on televisions placed around its walls. Wow! Who woulda thunk that such a nifty restaurant would be a part of a travel center? The service was excellent. The place clean. Great ambience. And the food -- excellent. We had the Kobe burger - which was amazing. The registry bacon cheese burger was also good. The turkey burger was the least nifty - a little mushy, but flavorful. All sandwiches came with ample FRESH lettuce and tomatoes and onions. And the self-serve drinks had plenty of options. Covid precautions were plentiful and respected. Highly recommend. read more

I've been to this location a lot. The burgers are great! But I recently discovered the blackened tilapia sandwich to be fantastic! It's just 6.99. With tarter sauce in the house and the onions and banana peppers. The sandwich is delicious. I have to say though that the expeditor managing the kitchen is super hot. She's working the window and running food. I knew I was in love when she looked at me and said "do you want tarter sauce" bc yes, I did want tarter sauce. I had the 1 lb cheeseburger (or whatever its called) and fries. One of the best burgers I've had. The fries would have been good if they were hot but since I waited to long they got cold so that's my fault. They would be great hot/warm. I had someone bring the food to me so I can't speak on the atmosphere. I would recommend it but, in my experience, be prepared it is a lot of food so either be really hungry, prepared for it to take a while to eat, or be ready to save it for later lol. read more

When I annoyedly beckoned for her attention she certainly copped an attitude with me. I hate to give a bad review because I know how negatively it can affect a business. That being said, I was REALLY hoping this would be a decent meal seeing it is Thanksgiving. We went an hour before closing to order our food to take back to our truck. The young kid saw us standing there and didn't greet us or even ACKNOWLEDGE us. We ended up ordering despite our better judgment. It's Thanksgiving Day and we're at a Truck Stop so this was pretty much our only hope. I ordered the grilled chicken salad with garlic toast and the hubby ordered loaded potato fries and a bacon cheeseburger. Where do I even begin?? How can you mess up a salad? Fries? Burger? My salad didn't have ANY bacon or croutons. The grilled chicken was so salty it wasn't even edible. I thought the garlic toast was a crouton because it was that SMALL!!The loaded fries were okay but they ALSO forgot the sour cream on top. The burger was so greasy that the bottom bun was sopping wet and not in a yummy way! For 40$ this was TRASH!! Yes, it was an hour before closing but that's no excuse. If you didn't want to work then why be here? I'm sure there's many people who would be ECSTATIC to even have a job. To top it off, when we got back to the truck I tried calling to complain and nobody answered the phone. Sadly, we've decided that our visit to Fuddruckers in Ashland yesterday was our last. There were just too many things that didn't go well for us during a relatively unbusy part of the day. The large Smokehouse burger that I usually order (I like to cut it in half to save for a later meal) was served well done when I specifically requested medium. The burger was served in 2 dry patties instead of just the large juicy one and the toppings were lackluster at best. I also ordered onion rings which they've now changed to a spicy breading without notification which led to an allergic reaction. Thank God I tasted one before giving it to my toddler grandson!! The soda mix was waaay off and some drink options were empty altogether. There was apparently an extremely unhappy employee (cashier) literally yelling at other employees in the kitchen. Best part of my entire order was the vanilla milkshake. I don't understand how Fuddruckers expanded their menu to include plant-based burger options while severely dropping the ball on their staple menu items. 1st time ever eating at a Fudruckers. First the good: i would shout out the people in the kitchen because I thought the food was quite good. Im not a huge gourmand or expert when it comes to burgers but I asked for medium well and it came back just what i had in mind and was a good tasting burger thst seemed decent quality. The fries as well were perfectly tasty. If they could figure out how to get larger leafs of lettuce instead of small pieces that fall out of the burger that would. Be great. It was our first time and while we were expecting to eat a burger but then seeing the menu we noticed other options so we were looking for a few minutes to make sure what we really wanted. ( I was also comparing calories). No one else in line just enjoying looking over the menu. The guy at the counter came after a while and we were still finishing making up our mind. Again:no one else in line or even in the restaurant. He was not the least bit friendly or welcoming and almost seemed annoyed. We said it was our first time. After our fiid came back he sat down near the soda machine on his phone and ignored the fact that we were having trouble (yes, I've used those kind of touchscreen machines many times but theres were really messed up) One was out of almost all diet/zero options, and when I did settle on zero gingerale it was completely flat, had to dump it. The other machine took over a minute to acknowledge when you pressed a selection and move to the next screen. It was ridiculous. Need to fix/ better maintain. Also there was no silverware offered or in the labeled silverware holder by the burger toppings. Nit a single piece to be found.. Didn't want to have to complain to the same guy who absolutely could hear us wondering aloud (not making nasty comments) about the machines and silverware, and absolutely seemed to care less about getting off his phone and maintaining the dining room, so we just dealt with it. This is my favorite burger joint of all time. The food is just like I remember it. The service is always good. I can customize my burger to my liking. I love their Coke Freestyle machine which gives me the option of customizing my drink as much as I'd like also. Good food and customization are a great duo!
