First I'll mention all the positive things & then the not so good things. As we walked in & took a seat-we were greeted nicely & asked if we wanted a cafecito de olla. My husband said yes & it quickly came out. It was delicious, he said it took him back to his youth. We had small talk with the our waitress, she was very friendly & hospitable. I ordered their red & green chilaquiles, came with beans & some chopped potatoes. I have no complaints, it was delicious- although the green sauce was my favorite. The red had a little too much comino (cumin) flavor for my liking. Loved the fresh chopped onions, it added a great layer of flavor. My husband ordered their chorizo plate that comes with chopped potatoes & homemade tortillas. He said it did not disappoint. Although he would have preferred some beans. They have a TV that showed pics of a lot of their food & we were excited to return to try them out. They also had music playing and sounded nice. The ambiance was nice, and appreciated the table in the center of the place having a bunch of individual baked goods for sale. We picked 2 to go even though it was a little hard to choose because it all looked great. Oh also our waitress came out to our vehicle & offered us a freshly baked (from that morning) piece of coffee cake. That was so nice of her & we appreciated it very much. Now the reason we aren't giving them 5 stars. Not a deal breaker because we still want to return but their prices are way too high to come as often as we would like. So to make it clear, everything we ordered for 2 people came to $77. (It included the 3% fee for paying w/ a CC & tip). I just wished my husband would have asked for a receipt so I could have known the cost (specifically) of everything like the 2 baked goods & if they charged for the second refill of the cafecito my husband asked for. He proved it by cutting up a fresh unseasoned chicken breast to make a burrito for my wife who does not eat seasoning on chicken. Darn burrito weighed about a pound. The street tacos, choice of meat, ???? $1.00. One dollar on Tuesday nights. Other $1 specials every other night of the week. Here is the kicker. The chips and salsa tasted yummy and fresh. We just had to have second basket! Me and the boyfriend shared the mixed fajitas. The flour tortillas were so light and perfect with it. Everything tasted so good. Next time we would just do the shrimp and steak. We just liked that combo the best. This morning, I ordered 3 sausage burritos at 910am. The restaurant was empty when I arrived, there was no orders ahead of mine. In the next 30 minutes, 3 other people entered the restaurant and ordered after me, and all 3 of them were served their food before me. The young kid behind the register, that struggles even with counting change, has no idea how to serve customers, solve problems and never offered an apology for letting my order get lost, even while I was sitting inside the restaurant the entire time. Super frustrating. Honestly, I don't know that I would give the restaurant another chance with my morning business. Way too many restaurants in the area to settle for horrible service.
