I was sifting through reviews of Mediterranean restaurants in the area & decided to try this establishment. I WILL BE BACK. IT IS Rich in flavor from their dressings & sauces to chicken & veggies. Veggies are crispy and fresh. I ordered a salad and a PEETA chicken sandwich, both of which I would recommend to others. When I arrived, I was unsure of what to pick but the staff reassured and helped me narrow it down. As I sat waiting for my take-out order I noticed a group of men in the back playing cards, smiling, and laughing together, which I think made the place more welcoming and cozy. Stopped by yesterday to buy a gyro pita sandwich and I decided to buy a side of hummus just to try at a later time. First and foremost the portion is super generous. The gyro sandwich could have been shared amongst 2 adults. Needless to say i ate the whole thing. The meat was crispy and cooked beautifully. I tried the hummus today and loved it, id love to see different varieties of hummus (e.g. roasted garlic, roasted pepper etc) Wishful thinking will return again. My husband and I recently visited this restaurant for the first time. It's a newer business that opened about six months ago, and we're so glad we decided to try it. We ordered two Fuego plates, which included beef, chicken, and gyro, and all of the meats were cooked perfectly. The rice was flavorful and well cooked, and the salad had the perfect amount of dressing. The staff mentioned that the Fuego plate is their most popular dish at this location, and after trying it, we completely understand why. We also ordered the baba ghanoush with pita bread as an appetizer, and it was fresh, flavorful, and a great way to start the meal. The portion sizes were very generous, which made the experience even better. The service was amazing from start to finish. The restaurant was clean, the ambiance was welcoming, and the food came out quickly without feeling rushed. Overall, everything exceeded our expectations. We came across this little restaurant on our way to the grocery shop and I must tell you this is such as a hidden gem! The first time we went we tried the gyro salad & their special "fuego plate". The chicken kebab was fire! No dry, chewy, flavorless chicken you get in most Mediterranean places in the area. The restaurant has plenty of parking and has indoor and outdoor seating. The inside is modest but very clean and they have a water station where you can help yourself to cold water. They also have to go containers at the ready for any yummy leftovers. I came here during lunch time and was surprised that there wasn't more people. I ordered the chicken kebab plate and it was very decently priced. When the food came out, I was blown away by the wonderful presentation. The quantity was impressive, and everything was delicious. The salad was fresh tasting and had a delicious dressing. The chicken was so tender and moist. And the rice was buttery. I'm upset that I waited so long to try it, and even though I don't live in Escondido anymore, I would honestly make the trek from San Diego for it - THAT is how amazing it is! Whoa, talk about hidden gem! The best Mediterranean food I've ever had. I should have taken a picture of my food, unfortunately it smelled so good I couldn't wait to eat! Here is what I ordered for take out, they also have the option for you to dine in! Chicken Kabob Plate: 10/10 the chicken was beautifully marinated and juicy! The plate came with onions, tomatoes, rice and pita bread! Zero complaints! Combination Plate: 9/10 It was a combination of chicken and lamb gyro, served with the same sides as the chicken kabob plate. The meat was cooked and seasoned well. The only thing that was missing was a side of humus. The meals did come with taziki, however humus brings a different kind of flavor. The ambiance of the location is very calm and quiet. I would definitely prefer something a little more lively to pair with the bold delicious flavors of the food. Granted this could change! They seem to have been open a short amount of time, who knows they could keep adding to the decor over time. Over all the food and service was great! It is a small business and everyone in there is very polite and friendly. I am definitely coming back here and recommending it to others. After a yelp search for new restaurants came upon Fuego Mediterranean Grill. Mentioned it the wife and she was ecstatic to try , especially after having disappointing food at a couple north county spots . This place is located off midway and after pulling up , was so excited to see a beautiful koi pond adjacent to the restaurant, with outside seating right next to it.. Ordered the steak pita and Fuego plate. Food took about 15-20 mins , which is a good sign that it's freshly prepared. I can say without any hesitation that this is quite possibly the best Mediterranean food I've had in years. Possibly since visiting Greece several years ago. Everything was so delicious. The steak kebab , chicken kebab, and gyro meat were tender, marinated well, and had the perfect amount of open flame charbroiled flavor. We have been here several times since and the food has been consistently just as good as our first visit. A true hallmark of a great restaurant establishment. We absolutely love this and my 4 year old and 2 year old love looking at the koi pond. Delicious food at great value and great ambiance. They have the best chicken kabob pita in town. Lots of tender, tasty grilled chicken breast with NO chewy pieces or gristle like some places. The fresh pita is big, heavy, and overflowing with chicken, delicious roasted veggies, tomatoes, red onions, lettuce, feta, and a tasty tzatziki sauce. Extra tzatziki on the side too! It's an excellent value at only $12 and big enough to share, especially if you get a side. Can't wait to try their lamb/beef options, hummus, and fries. There are a few tables, but no ambiance to speak of except some outdoor tables under a tree by a Koi pond. I also recently tried the chicken pita/wrap at The Kebob Shop across town, and this place puts it to shame. Here for $12 you get at least 5-6 ounces of delicious chicken with all the right toppings on proper pita bread. There for $16 you get only 2-3 ounces of chicken breast (some chewy) lost in a sea of lettuce without the other classic toppings--and rolled in a soggy Mexican flour tortilla! read more

The food was amazing. But the past few months the food quality and the customer service has gone down. Rice over cooked and sauces always missing plus no utensils. It's already happened a couple of times where I have called in my order, show up to pick it up and according to them they never received it. After reading many appreciative reviews, I was very disappointed. I had the beef kabob sandwich. Taste was OK, not exceptional, a bit chewy but did have a lot of nice vegetables. My friend had an eggplant dish which she said was good and she could actually taste the eggplant, which is apparently unusual. Also, the Koi pond outside was very pleasant and had a bountiful display of flowering water lilies and really big Koi! However, with both front and back doors open there were many flies. Worse than a picnic! Very bad!! While the food was OK, it was far from exceptional. The service person very graciously gave my friend a free baklava to celebrate her birthday. I bought one as I normally enjoy them very much, but was disappointed. It was nicely flakey but so sweet I could not eat it all at once. That has never happened before to me! The chicken was nicely marinated and grilled, vegetables fresh and crisp, sauce not too garlicky like a lot of chain Mediterranean spots, falafel was on point (not too salty and good flavor), and the ambience was 10/10 with nice outdoor shade and a Koi pond. It's a new spot so no problem, drove by today instead as their hours stated open online. They were closed and the door locked. A couple people were sitting inside, maybe they were having a meeting? My husband and I ate here for the first time today. The restaurant is not fancy and you order your food at the register, but the people are very nice and I had some of the best grilled chicken I've ever tasted. It was moist and tender, which, if you have eaten at other Mediterranean restaurants, you probably have experienced dry and overcooked chicken. We will definitely be coming back. My only complaint is that the restaurant is not heated so if it is cold out, dress warmly. read more

Tired going on Tuesday and they were sold out by 7. I was so bummed because I had seen a Facebook video how good the food was. So the BF got there by 4 and I scored the fuego plate.
