    Lamb Shawarma

I ordered the lamb shawarma plate to-go last night and I got to see them cook it fresh. Other than a bit of fatty pieces, the lamb portion was huge. The salad had cheese, purple onions, tomatoes and cucumbers. The hummus was also really good. He gave us 2 different sauces (a spicy flavored one and a creamy yogurt one) which I enjoyed with the lamb. Service was easy and quick. The guy who took our order also made the food. I was conflicted on whether to get the sandwich or plate but he offered to make it into a sandwich if I wanted the plate since the plate comes with a pita. He was very nice. He also got us all the sauces!

Ordered food here via DoorDash for lunch during work, and my Chicken Shawarma Plate arrived on time. Service was great. I've dined in prior and the atmosphere was cleaning and inviting. The salad was fresh, the rice was delicious with the toasted almonds mixed in, and the Chicken Shawarma was perfection. I added a side of hummus and it was tasty too. I love ordering from them, and it's been a minute since I have, but the food quality is just as great as I remember.

I really don't get the reviews here. This place has seen better days. Old furniture and restrooms were not well cleaned which was a bad start. Food was very disappointing for the reviews . Sadly it was soooo dry both the Tri tip and chicken shawarma plates. Both guys behind the counter were not even wearing hair nets while cooking and prepping while using the same gloves to cook and operate the TV remote . I get their younger guys management seems checked out on a supposedly busy weekend lunch time. Hard pass

I stopped by here on my lunch break. There was a line but it moved quickly. I ordered the grilled chicken kabob plate. It comes with rice, salad, pita bread, and hummus. I enjoyed the chicken. It was not dry and had good flavor. The hummus was good too. Salad was fresh but did not appear to have any dressing on it. I enjoyed my lunch here.

REALLY GOOD!! Great food, good prices, and great service. They gave us a sample of the chicken that had just been made, were helpful, patient and very quick to make the food. PLUS the falafel salad, pita bread, and the lamb pita sandwich were delicious. The Lamb sanwich was also spilling with lamb. 10/10 would come back to try the rest of the menu items.

Fist time stop in. Let the cashier know and asked for advice. Got the 50/50 chicken steak salad. And the kabobs plate. And they hooked up all the sauces for me. Being it was my first time. Serving are huge and food dank! Had to tap out and take the rest home. Great food and nice size servings! Thanks Josh

First, after reading some past reviews, I want to say that a lot has changed since then. When I first arrived, I was immediately greeted by the delightful aroma of the grill. I happened to arrive a few minutes early, but the employee, John, was very understanding and kindly offered me a seat while he finished setting up the store. Once everything was ready, I ordered the Chicken Kebab Plate, Lamb Shawarma Plate, and a half order of Pita bread with hummus. The food was ready in about 8-10 minutes, which seemed very reasonable given that the proteins were freshly cooked and everything was plated with care. The employee was incredibly attentive, detail-oriented, and passionate about his work. He made sure I felt welcome, ensuring I had everything I needed, including utensils, napkins, and a variety of sauces. At home, my partner and I tried the food and loved every bite. The Mediterranean salad was fresh and flavorful, while the Pita bread with hummus was perfectly creamy and soft. My lamb was rich and earthy, and my partner's chicken was tender and flavorful--cooked to perfection. Overall, I highly recommend this place for its exceptional customer service and outstanding cleanliness. Although it's a bit of a drive from my location, it's absolutely worth the trip every time. Right now, this place stands out as one of the best local Mediterranean spots around.

Falafel Bowl and Baba Ghanouj Dip
    Neeraja I.

Nope just nope. I ordered through dd and got spoiled fermented baba ghanouj. Falafel plate in which sauces seemed old too. Olives and beets that tasted odd. Overall a bad tasting experience. Are they even trying? Expensive not worth it. Not ordering here again.

Didn't have time to go back and share with staff.

Why did I come here?…read more With a hunger for mediterranean and the worry that nearby Aria may be a bit too pricey for a quick meal, I brought my son out to The Pita Guys for some gyro or shawarma. What we found were limited options, higher than expected prices, less than helpful staff, and not the best of food. Being my first time, I had questions about the menu. The young pair behind the counter didn't seem to know what they were serving, as they kept looking at one another for guidance with little ability to give me much relevant info on anything other than what types or protein they had. Once I finally ordered, they started to taking and filling the orders of people behind me. It wasn't until a much older woman came in from the back before my own dinner started being prepared. Seriously, it was a pretty weird setup. The food was served Subway style, where they go down the line asking what you wanted added to your wrap. Shawarma meat is minced, staying warm in a tub, and scooped to order by a spoon resting in a bin of cloudy water. Not only did it feel a bit gross, but it also seemed that the bulk of the juice in the meat came from that watery spoon, as the shawarma I ate was very dry. When it came to my son's Shawarma Plate, the menu stated that it came with two sides. What they don't tell you is that the only choices on the 'sides' menu open to you are Hummus and a Salad. The much more desired sides of Falafel, Baba Ghanoush, or even kid friendly Fries, were not offered. Needless to say, my son ate his chicken and rice, but wouldn't touch his hummus. So, a Shawarma Plate and a Shawarma wrap ... dinner for two, not a ton of food, neither of us were all that impressed ... and it cost us over $40. Needless to say, with how everything tasted and what it took to get ... we won't be coming back. For the price it cost us, I think we'll stick with the far superior Aria up the street. Or, at the very least, try the Kebab Shop down the block.

The chicken kabobs were incredibly flavorful and tender, the grilled onions and tomatoes were a perfect addition, and the gyro meat was outstanding. The platter also came with a fresh salad. My only small disappointment was that it didn't include pita bread, which I typically associate with gyro meat. That said, it may have been something I simply overlooked on the menu... perhaps it can be ordered as a side? The restaurant itself appears quite elegant with plenty of seating, and it was clearly popular, as there was a steady flow of patrons dining in while I picked up my order. The staff were professional and personable. I will absolutely be back!

I placed an order through the online kiosk for the harvest plate and wanted the steak, but apparently, when I got my order I saw the chicken kebab. I notified the team members that I thought I had added the steak and both the lady at the register and one of the cooks told me, " no problem, we'll get that taken care of for you" and I received a steak kebab at no extra cost. I was surprised at how accommodating they were. There was no dispute and they didn't need to check my receipt. Come to find out, it was my mistake after all. I've been back here multiple times ever since that happened so you can say this review is long overdue. TKS has some of the best tasting food around town. Five stars, and highly recommend.

God, do I love The Kebab Shop…read more There was one of these spots back in Encinitas when we lived there. And it had become a regular option when we wanted to go out for something easy that everyone could enjoy. From the perfectly cooked fries, that are great on their own or stuffed into your wrap, to the juicy and flavorful kofta and shawarma options, everything here pleases. The Grilled Veggie and Citrus Chickpea sides are personal favorites. The menu has changed since those days a decade or so ago. Gone are the days the set wraps or plates. It has been replaced by the newer style of pick from List A, then B, then two from C, etc. It's simple, customizable, and cuts down on the swapping of unwanted items out of your lunch across the table. And the option of having a bar where you can load up on Cilantro Jalapeño and Dill Yogurt sauces is a very welcome addition. This is a new location, making it clean and bright. And it's a welcome addition the area and the shopping center. I'm usually not one for franchise shops, but The Kebab Shop still seems to be focusing more on the food than purely maximizing profit, and it shows. As far as qualms about the place go, the costs have almost doubled since we have gone to this shop last, but that's the sign of the times. And honestly, the food is so good, I didn't even mind that all that much. Second, it feels like they've cut back on the amount of protein they add into their wraps. Before, it felt stuffed with shawarma or gyro meat. Now, it's more balanced with the veggies and rice. That's still fine, the flavor and textures are still there in good quantity. It's just that feeling of a drop in overall value. Regardless, The Kebab Shop is still high up there in my eyes. I've already been back a number of times since my initial visit, which really is a testament to how much I enjoyed the food and experience here. And even now, just a week or so since coming last, I'm already planning on coming back again.
