The fish in the fuji don tasted super off and I had to spit it out (could not finish it). The noodles had a good crispy texture but way too salty. The only redeeming thing (why this review is 2 stars) was the lettuce wrap, which was absolutely delicious but were 2 for $18. I've had better takeout here before just in the past year since I live nearby but in 2023 their takeout quality has declined dramatically. Might be better to stick with their dine-in. read more

Fuji at Ink Block wasn't super-busy at lunch time one Sunday. Service was quite pleasant and aware, and the food came out at a decent speed. The lobster rangoon $9 appetizer looked like your typical deep fried crab rangoons from the outside, but inside I could see and taste the little red bits of lobster. Fuji offers their lunch menu everyday from 11am - 3pm from which we selected the bento box $16 with Unagi (eel) teriyaki, which is served with white rice, miso soup, salad, edamame, pork gyoza (2), shumai (2), sweet potato & zucchini tempura (1 piece each), spicy tuna maki (3 pieces). I tend to be wary of "Americanized" sushi establishments (i.e. those that serve rolls), but I had an excellent experience at Fuji at Ink Block. My brother and I came here for dinner and ordered the Miss Waldorf Roll ($18), Chirashi ($24), and Oyako Don ($26). The Miss Waldorf Roll was superb, with balanced flavors and perfectly seared salmon - it was melt-in-your-mouth goodness. The fish they used for the Chirashi and Oyako Don were fresh as well. Service was excellent - attentive, efficient, and knowledgable - and we were given two nigiri pieces on the house. Interior is modern, spacious, and clean. I would definitely go back to try some of their other rolls - I rarely prefer rolls over more traditional sushi, but they do such an outstanding job here that I would highly recommend giving them a try. read more

I have been here twice. And my first experience was amazing. The wait for the food was a long time but our server was humorous and apologetic and I was enjoying catching up with a friend anyways. So when the food did make it out- it was great. I got the Lobster Rangoon- pretty good, but, I think I overall would just prefer my lobster with no cream cheese. The deconstructed wings are 10/10. Their drinks are strong! My second time was yesterday. Salmon belly nigiri is AMAZING. Could eat 20 of them. Loved the salt and pepper calamari. The scorpion and Philly maki were also fresh and delicious. But the uni nigiri... full disclosure: we both had never tried uni. Our good friend SWEARS by it and says it is her ultimate favorite. Our friend has not eaten here. We decided to try it here. And we ordered the uni from maine. I can't tell if we absolutely hate uni in general or if it was bad. It was an overwhelming chemically taste. Not "fresh and buttery" as the internet and my friend explained. Listen, I'm always willing to try again but idk how soon for this one. Lol. However, since this was one of the few Japanese restaurant near me, I choose to bear with that. However, the waiter there really got me angry. I asked for one more menu at a not very busy time. My husband and I want to look at the dish separately since I'm pregnant and feels morning sick. The waiter talk to me like: "we only give one menu to one table" as if I couldn't see it through my eyes. I said okay and he left. Guys, the food is fine. But the waiter here must be racist or have some kind problem. One of my friend told me she went there for lunch and asked for a glass of water. The waiter told her that this was not his responsibility. I never seen this before. He could go to the water bar and tell whoever the waiter is to give the customer the water. I'm highlighting their Charsiu (BBQ Pork) fried rice and Blackened Tuna Salad because the other 2 dishes (wardorf and rainbow roll) we ordered were "Meh". Charsiu Fried Rice It has that nicely wok charred taste, the way asian fried rice supposed to be. Then they mixed in tobiko (everybody please say "ooooooh" with me). The pork on top was so tasty and pretty lean. This is a good dish to share. Blackened Tuna Salad This is such an awesome salad. It came with 2 different dressing. We like the sesame wasabi dressing. We ordered mostly sushi/raw items- everything was fresh, and beautifully presented. A few items we'd highly recommend- spicy tuna lettuce wraps, the truffle maki, and seared salmon toro/seared hamachi nigiri. The reason why Fuji did not receive 5 stars? Despite reserving a patio seat online, we were told it was first come first serve when we arrived (10 minutes early for our reservation), and that there would be a 45 minute wait for an outdoor table. I ordered the Teriyaki Salmon Lunch Bento Box for delivery and it was one of the better / "bang for your buck" lunch bentos I've had in Boston! For ~$25, you get a sizable bento box with: - Miso soup - Small salad - 2 shumai, 2 dumplings, and 2 tempura vegetables - 3 pieces of spicy tuna or spicy salmon maki - Edamame - Your choice of entree (I chose salmon teriyaki with rice, but they also have chicken, beef, etc.) It comes in a very good portion (especially for lunch) and allows you to have a little bit of everything. I'd love to get this at the restaurant but since it's hard to get away for lunch on a week day, delivery / takeout is a close second option! read more

Some items are just a bit much, namely those with lobster and/or wagyy. Yes it's fun to splurge but also, much. Rolls nearing 30$ ditto. * Sake Menu. High end Japanese places really should have a better selection, with better sake, none of which should be American produced unless it's something very very special. * Service. Slow. Forgetful. Not particularly attentive. On that note I continue with my theory that if it takes longer than 15 minutes to settled the bill after asking for a check, the meal should be default free. If it's 30 minutes, maybe they should be tipping me for my time? So that was my experience early November '22. We loved this place. The sushi was incredibly fresh and the portion sizes were decent. They have a variety of options from chinese inspired dishes to various sushi and sashimi options, as well as a variety of "specialty" and "regular" rolls. We ordered the following: the Sashimi Deluxe, which came with 25 pieces of sashimi including two pieces of their mouth watering toro! The salmon was garnished with large pieces of orange caviar -- again delicious. They also had l yellowtail, tuna, whitefish, scallops, and octopus. Nothing that I disliked. We also got the following rolls: Prism Dream, Black Truffle, Volcano Maki, Pink Chanel, and the Dear Hyeung. I have a hard time deciding whether I liked the Prism Dream or the Volcano Maki best. The Black Truffle was fabulous as well, especially if you like truffles. The only roll that I would probably not order again was the Dear Hyeung. It wasn't bad but not as great as the others. Lobster Rangoon is a must have and the calamari is to die for. The food didn't last more than 10 mins in our home! Be prepared to put down some money down. When you want Hugh quality you'll get high quality. We were super satisfied with the presentation and overall taste of everything. SO GOOD. Sad we never came here prior to this, but it's a little out of the way for us, and the price point makes it so that it would be hard to be any more than a special occasion restaurant. We came on a Saturday night with reservations and were seated promptly. The menu can be a little overwhelming because of how many items there were, but I did a little yelp sleuthing ahead of time, and we decided to share several rolls. The boyfriend and I shared 3 rolls: 1. Prism dream: seems really popular on Yelp, and it is not surprising why - seared tuna, sear salmon, spicy crab mix and a delicious soy sauce glaze, it's a real winner combination. 2. Miss Waldorf: probably my least favorite of the 3, it's a great roll if you enjoy salmon. However, I didn't think it was very out of the ordinary, and probably not really worth the $18. 3. Black truffle maki: my favorite of the 3, not only because truffle is amazing and delicious, but also because this was the most unique sushi I've ever had. I can't say I've ever had truffle with sushi, but the pairing with unagi was genius. Pricey at $25, but we felt it was worth it. We then also shared the unagi clay pot, which was excellent. The clay pot was surprisingly authentic, with crispy rice and deep rich flavors. We ended up not being able to finish everything (the rolls are surprisingly very filling!), but it was worth trying it all. Overall, an excellent restaurant, although quite pricey, but worth it for a special splurge occasion. I would definitely come again, and can't wait to try the other rolls! read more

What an incredible experience: the front desk hosts were so happy, kind, and welcoming (Wayne & Spartacus), we instantly knew we liked the energy. Then we had Sammy as our Waiter: he was always there, we never had to wait to order another drink or more food, and was so helpful with recommendations on what to eat and drink. Everything was well above average, from the atmosphere and the friendliness of the wait staff, to the quality of ingredients and flavors of the dishes- definitely deserves a full 5 stars. This is a place you go if you want to impress your Hinge date or have something special to celebrate. It's a little more on the dressy side when it comes to attire in the dining area (IMO) but they have a bar area with TVs if you're feeling casual. I love any excuse to dress up so I enjoyed the feel. Special sushi rolls are a little on the pricier side but you're getting your money's worth with fresh, quality ingredients, sufficient portions, and nice presentation. We picked the Miss Waldorf roll which was all of my favorite things in a roll- I would go back just for that! The Wagyu Beef Fried Rice was a nice filler that I split with my date.
