Fuji Grill puts on quite a show... we were there on Saturday night and the place was hoppin'. I felt like I was five years old experiencing a magic show. I loved sitting at the table and watching the cook with all the extra flourishes. He shot sake into guests mouths and threw us pieces of broccoli; yes we became his trained seals, not minding a bit... has to do with the child in all of us. The aroma hits you the minute you walk in and you begin to salivate. Soy sauce, rice wine, roasted meats and seafood, what's not to like?! I ordered the combo with chicken and shrimp, salad, soup and fried rice. I could only eat half of my food, there was so much that I had lunch the next day. Was in Buffalo for the winter break to see my dad and decided to eat out one night. This place was the closest Japanese restaurant close by so we decided to check it out. How to describe the food here... it's good, yeah. But nothing more than just... well, good. You won't get the flavor explosions that you'll get from a poke bowl, and won't get the amazing quality sashimi that you'd get at a top sushi restaurant. My group and I ordered the salmon tar-tar, grilled squid, and edamame as our appetizers. The salmon tar-tar was a bit strange... the sauce that it was in was a bit too sweet for my taste. The grilled squid was alright - would've been nice to include some Japanese mayo with it. The edamame was... well, edamame. For our entrees I got the sashimi deluxe (18 pieces), and my group also got some mixed sashimi and the cooked seafood plate. The sashimi deluxe was pretty good; however, the sashimi was all on ice, so the temperature of the sashimi was actually too cold, which made the fish kind of hard. The cooked seafood plate was also alright - the sauce was once again too sweet for my taste. The mixed sashimi that we got - sweet shrimp, surf clam, and unagi - were all extremely delicious. We ordered those a la cart from the main dishes. Overall, I'd say if I was living here, this place would be one to settle with if you want variety and food that fills you up. It isn't as good as really good sushi restaurants, and certainly doesn't compare to big city establishments, but it will get the job done. read more

Delicious! This was my first Hibachi experience and it was great! The chef was very entertaining throwing food into people's mouths and creating onion volcanoes during the cooking. As for the food whew it was fantastic! I got the filet mignon and chicken with rice, noodles, and mixed vegetables and was very happy with it. The atmosphere is very fun and the pricing is pretty good for dinner and a show. I ended up taking a pile of food home as well! Also I tried the house saki served warm which was a nice experience! The transit location is not my favorite. The one on maple is the great one. I had no choice though. I was by transit. This time I ordered take out. I have dined-in at this location before. It has a nice dining area with plenty of space. The food doesn't differ in quality either way. I had the Chicken Hibachi with Shrimp. I prefer the fried rice over the white. It comes with a side salad and miso soup. This is BY FAR MY FAVORITE dish at Fuji. The chicken quality is good. It's a very filling meal for about $15. I always come away satisfied with my experience at Fuji. The service is top notch. If you're eating-in the service is fast and friendly. Take out is so quick. Took about 12 minutes to get my order. That is so fast. My only complaint is that the transit location doesn't have it together as much as the maple location. Sometimes they seem unorganized or the food quality just doesn't seem as good. Maybe that is just my bias of going to the maple location for years. Try Fuji Grill you won't regret it. read more

I love Hibachi. Fresh cooked food right in front of you, generous portions, all for a good price. Unfortunately I would have to say that Fuji Grill is my least favorite place to dine for Hibachi. My favorite part of almost all Hibachi places is the fried rice. I don't know what they do but I love it. Here at Fuji I was not a fan. Did not like the taste. I added some yummy sauce to it and it made it better. Also some other places give you both rice and noodles, here you have to choose. I got the chicken & Shrimp and my wife got the Filet. My chicken was good and the shrimp was as well. My wife's filet was super delicious. Was seasoned really good and cooked to perfection. The portions were extremely large and generous, but the price seemed to be little higher than other places we have gone too. My little guy asked our cook right away not to do fire because he was scared. He was good about that but the overall entertainment was nothing exciting, didn't get us or the kids very involved. I recommend Hibachi for people who haven't tried but I would choose a different place. I have heard that the other Fuji Grill Location is much better. read more

I'm giving this 4 stars for 4 reasons! 1: the food was phenomenal! I get the Filet Mignon with Chicken and rice and it's never a disappointment! 2: our table was filled up fast which meant the start of dinner quicker! The party next to me ordered a kids meal whose daughter is the same age, same height. And in the snottiest tone she said yeah that's only for kids 10 and under. Cue to dinner! I took my kid to get her airbrush tattoo and came back to 2 salads. Ok I get that the kids one only comes with a salad but I didn't even get my soup. So I asked a staff member to let my waitress know I didn't get my soup. Everyone at the table, even the kids received a soup and salad. She comes over and tells me kids meals only come with a salad. I said ok but I didn't get my soup. She said you got salad. So I responded with "I'm a little confused here as mine comes with soups and salad, I only have a salad and everyone else at the table got both regardless of kids meal or not" Let me tell you her tone could have said "whatever" as she said "you know what I'll just get you the soup" She brought me one soup which is fine. It was broth. No mushrooms or anything else in it. Passive aggressive. To end the night, the 2 other dinner parties at my hibachi had their credit cards run for the wrong tabs and there was a $70 difference in charges. YIKES!! She seemed more annoyed at the inconvenience it was causing her to refund the transactions and re do them correctly. I will probably stick with Kyoto! My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and had a pretty bad experience. After our server took our order, she asked to look at the menu, letting us know she needed to see if our entrees came with anything and had to get our orders 100% right because otherwise the restaurant charged her for it and she was too broke for that. This was pretty awkward but we just brushed it off. The food took forever to come out and my boyfriends entree was incorrect. When we let our server know, her first response was "are you sure?" Instead of getting his new dish done quickly it took another 15 minutes until his food came. By then my food was cold. The dinner took way longer than we expected and was definitely a bit overpriced as well. The only reason they got two stars is because the food was pretty good (not great.) read more

I would advise anyone reading this to NOT COME HERE to eat! My family and I had a horrific time here. First and foremost, the place is dirty and an absolute mess. You can see it from the floor, chairs and the grill. The chef came out and rushed making our food and literally DUMPED everything in teriyaki sauce! Not only that, but he cooked the uncooked chicken and uncooked seafood right next to each other. For anyone who cooks, that is a giant NO because that's cross contamination. When we complained to the waitress she said dumping teriyaki sauce on everything is how they eat in Japan. I think she took us for fools because that is not true. We have been to plenty hibachi houses and they do not cook that way. The chef was just horrible. If I could give a negative zero for this place I absolutely would! I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed before as we've been several times over the years. This recent visit was my least favorite. There were 5 of us, including two kids. We were seated (very closely) next to another family of 4 in a very tight space. It seemed that this specific hibachi table was squeezed into the spot (should have taken pics) as both my son and husband were essentially sitting in a walk through point. I barely had elbow room with the younger boy to my left (and I'm a lefty-ugh). Our meals tasted great but the portions were noticeably smaller than typical and my children were both taking proteins from my plate (chicken and shrimp). We didn't leave hungry but considering the cost for this visit, I expected a take home container. The chef was quiet and we didn't have the same flair that we've seen in past visits. First time at the Transit location and on a Saturday night around 8pm, we were seated immediately. We decided to not partake in hibachi, but order off the menu. My boyfriend ordered the shrimp shumai appetizer and a salmon sushi roll with a piece of eel sushi. I decided to try the pad Thai and asked if they could do half beef and half shrimp and at first they said yes, but then she returned to our table and said it would be $5 additional (which I thought was pretty high ) so I opted for just beef. I also asked if the pad Thai came with onions which they said only green onions which I'm typically ok with. Our food came out fairly quickly , He loved everything (he saved the eel for last which is his favorite) and I thought the pad Thai was very flavorful although next time I would get it without the green onion because there was a TON of it in there , it wasn't just a garnish! Went to dinner with a friend. We ordered the shrimp shumai as an appetizer and we split the Izumi roll, spider roll and sashimi deluxe as our main course. We came especially for the sashimi but did not enjoy the scallop as part of the chef selection. Neither of us had ever had an Izumi roll before but it turned out to be our favorite. The orange colored sauce as an accompaniment was fantastic. We would be happy just eating that sauce by itself. The service was attentive and the dishes came out quickly. Listen: I own no stock in this establishment and can only tell the truth based off my taste buds. And the truth is, this place is all that. I've seen the marquee for Fuji Grill for some time and was happy to see the grand opening sign. Being a lover of all things sushi (no seriously, I have a problem), my husband and I gave eat other the nod to dine in last Saturday for dinner with our kids. At first glance, we thought there was a party or special event, because the parking lot was packed! It felt like everyone was there -- grandmothers, mothers, fancy people with a limo (true story) -- to partake in Japanese cuisine we knew we needed to try for ourselves. When we first walked in, we had to make our way through a few people standing by the bar that's close to the entrance. But, thankfully, we were immediately seated -- and with two kids under 4 no less! Opting to sit in a booth like the good parents we try to be (can you imagine us sitting with our 3- and 1-1/2-year old boys at a hibachi station thinking they WOULDN'T try to touch the fire?), we were quickly greeted by our waiter who had a cool aura about him. The kids were given what looked to be ripped pages from a coloring book and a few crayons each (hey, it works for me), and I started looking at the sushi and cocktail menus. My sex on the beach tasted a little more like spiked OJ and less like a tropical drink, but was still good. My husband decided to get fancy on me with a plum (sparkling) wine that came with a cherry in the glass that would've laid me out if I drank it. It was sweet, tasty, and an awesome deadly option for those like myself who normally don't drink. The food was divine! I ordered the Buffalo and Fuji Mountain rolls that were perfect, tasty, and fresh in every way. They fact that I got full off two rolls instead of my regular three speaks to the portions you get here. And speaking of portions, my husband's chicken stir fry looked like it was created and played by a Food Network star. It was soo good. What was also good were my kids' dinners, hibachi chicken. Though the veggies were too tough for them, they devoured their rice and chicken -- making it worth every dollar each plate cost. After spending Saturday evening here, we'll definitely be back. I love a good hibachi and this is definitely one of my favorite places to go to. I typically only go for lunch, since dinner is almost double the price and you only get a little more for dinner. Which I can barely even finish the lunch portion! So if your going to give this place a try, I would recommend going for lunch. There chicken comes with a delicious glaze on top, and they also give you 2 sauces. My absolute favorite is their "yum yum" sauce they call it. Im telling you, you must pour that all over your rice, its AMAZING. The shrimp was absolutely delicious, and I plan on going again soon. read more

I've been to the Fuji Grill in Niagara Falls a few times because it's by my gym, but I wanted to try this place for their Disney roll, and man, do I wish the Niagara Falls location would add it to their menu. Spicy tuna, avocado, and cream cheese in a tempura roll with spicy crab (the sriracha mayo like the rockin' shrimp appetizer, I think, so it covered all my favorite flavors in one dish.) I have been to Fuji Grille before - their original Maple Rd location. I've always enjoyed the experience. This time I bought a Groupon at a good price and thought I'd give this location a try. The atmosphere is nice, though no where near as ornate. My server was a super tall Asian girl (how'd that happen?) and she was quite friendly. The menu was easy to read and the pictures were helpful. My beverage was an iced tea and I it was a fresh brew which I enjoyed. I ordered Beef Negimaki which is a personal favorite. Tom yum soup is also a favorite. In addition I ordered rolls that had tuna and crab with tempura outside. My friend ordered a Shrimp Tempura stir fry. Simply put, everything was fresh and delicious. We loved our meals. We were able to watch some Hibachi showmanship at another table, and it looked fun and the customers were entertained. I'll be on the look out for another Groupon! read more

Great hibachi on Transit rd, heck yeah! I purchased a Groupon and I have been waiting to try this location out specifically for the hibachi experience. Saturday night at 6pm. I called in a reservation and thought it nice they asked if we were celebrating anything. My companion and I were seated immediately at the grill with another couple and 3 late teenaged girls. Fun mix, I like dining with strangers. After our drink orders arrived, and our food orders taken the show was set to start. Our cowboy chef, flipped, tossed, spun, sliced, diced and squirted his way into our hearts and onto our plates. Defreackinlicious. Perfect seasoning on everything, meat cooked perfect to order, portion sizes were great and above all equal. I've been to other places where the last person served is often shorted. Nice touch is with your hibachi choice also comes with 2 shrimp, I guess in place of soup. What's even better is when your companion doesn't eat shrimp more for me! The showmanship was outstanding- veggie flipping, egg spinning, onion volcano and sake squirting. I got everyone to partake, the 3 teens had "baby" sake aka lemonade, I thought that was awesome! After the meal our new dinner friends scattered off to other commitments while we stayed for dessert and another cocktail. Never felt rushed or ignored. Me and my boyfriend ordered here for the first time tonight two hibachi meals I got scallops and steak my scallops were mushy and raw.. I ate maybe two pieces of my steak and the rest was all fatt.. the rice was hard and the vegetables were mushy.. same with my boyfriends... the miso soup didn't have tofu in it it had like grains of white stuff the tasted like grits.
