Excellent lunch spot! The service is speedy and the food is flavorful and filling. I really like how the food is prepared in somewhat of an open kitchen style, so there are no secrets! I recommend the poke salad for a nice, light lunch option. The soups hit the spot for a nice warm winter meal as well. The rice balls were tasty! Not sure why they are purple, but it added to the fun for me. The tuna inside of the one I ordered is more like canned tuna (as a word of caution to you raw tuna fans). Underwhelming. We came here on our honeymoon in November. We stayed at the boulderado and on our way back to the hotel we stumbled upon this restaurant. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything exciting either. The flavors were bland and if we visited bolder again we probably wouldn't stop in again. read more

I really like this spot. The food is awesome, and reasonable in price. My only complaint is that I wish they had brown rice.

This place is great for lunch, it's off the main mall, so even on a Saturday at noon they weren't busy. I was a little bummed that the rice was not ready yet so I couldn't get the chicken teriyaki, but the chawman made up for it. My husband got the ten thuk, which tasted like a soup his grandma makes. This place is great. The food is reasonably priced and has great food. The onigiri sets and momos are awesome. I've had nearly all of the little rice sandwiches and it's hard to say which ones are best. The rice is always great-moist, sticky, and nutty. The fillings are tasty and flavorful. They just added momo soup, which is not to miss. The dumplings sit delicately on top of a light spicy broth. I highly recommend this place. The food is OK, but overpriced. The services was odd. I walked in to the restaurant and basically was mostly empty and it took almost 10 minutes to even be served. The food itself was basically mediocre. Large bowl of rice with some cool broccoli and three or four pieces of eel were expensive and then the pickle salad wasn't really traditional Japanese pickle salad. The miso soup is basically mediocre. I don't think I will come here again. Disappointing because I really like this kind of food. Came in on a Groupon and ordered Chawman and a beef rice ball. My brother had the eel plate and enjoyed it. The rice balls were nice. Unfortunately the chawman was incredibly sticky and gooey. I told a lady in a red apron at the register. She just said okay and took my full plate off my table. I ordered another rice ball because I was quite hungry and they charged me full price. Food is great, but I have to say that ever since they changed manager, service has a lot to say and their schedule is a mess. I was there weekly, but now many times I go is closed. I highly suggest calling before heading there. They don't follow their timing sign. It feels like if they don't have customer they just close. Their previous managers was so good... Ouch! The rice in my sushi was suuuuuuuuper dry and hard and chewy like it was left out for a few days and then reheated. All of their dishes only had one overpowering taste. It was either spicy spicy or salty salty. Service took really long. We waited forever for our check which sucks when parking in the area has a two hour limit and there was so much more we wanted do while we were in town but couldn't. read more

So much nope. I ordered the 6 potsticker and miso "set" and my dining companion had the chicken yakisoba noodles. The potstickers were super doughy and the meat was a hard, dry and flavorless puck, even with the sauce. His noodles were likewise doughy and overcooked and the chicken was very dark with stringy tendons and just looked gross. (The picture of the noodles on this page is not at all what his looked like, they were over soaked and there were few vegetables on the plate) But the worst part of this entire meal was the woman behind the counter who - although wearing a weak facemask - was violently coughing all over the kitchen! It was disgusting and we promptly lost our appetites. It was so bad we should have called the health department! No one should ever come to work in a restaurant with such an active cough for ANY reason! So the food was disappointing, the environment was terrible and we both were promptly ill afterwards and had the runs for a couple of days afterwards. We eat a lot of ethnic food and rarely have that problem so it was definitely this restaurant. We would never return after this dismal experience! P.S. - Their tipping screen allowed no less than 15%! At a restaurant where we ordered at the counter, picked up our food from the counter, boxed our own leftovers, and cleared our own plates?! Onigiri is fantastic - love the salmon, shitake, and chicken teriyaki onigiri, and their miso soup makes a great appetizer as well. The small onigiri set (2 onigiri, which are fairly large, and a bowl of miso soup) is a great deal and a perfect lunch.
