Fujiya is a very nostalgic Japanese super market for me! They have a ton of Japanese groceries and ingredients, as well as a great selection of meals, sushi, donburis and bento boxes. The prices are still reasonable!

I usually come here to pick up a few lunch items and go but as I haven't been here for awhile I thought I would try it again. Unfortunately the quality is no longer as good as it used to be and the prices have also been raised a bit. They are still very generous with their portions but it just doesn't taste as good as before. The sushi is more sloppily made now and the taste isn't the same as before.

Easily one of my favourite stores to visit that have authentic and amazing quality Japanese food (fresh, frozen and packaged). It is one of the best places to go in the area if you need a quick lunch to go for a really great and affordable price. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls (some are even made to order - ask accordingly), bento boxes, rice bowls, fish, sashimi and appys such as karaage and gyoza. It is a small but mighty store with aisles full of Japanese goodies. Our family always frequents here for comfort and nostalgic items that we cannot find elsewhere. If there is a line - don't be deterred, it moves fast and people are often inside for a mission to get in and get out. The store is clean, staff wear masks and are so nice and courteous. We love getting their sashimi, inari and futomaki set, curry rice and daikon for our meals to reward us from our shopping. Their udon and ramen sets are also a must for east and delicious comfort in a bowl when you're at home or need a quick meal.

I'm no sushi snob, but I had to check out Fujiya to see what the fuss is all about. For the price you're getting, don't expect amazing quality. But honestly, for the price you're getting - it's pretty good quality. At $3-$7 per set, it's really nothing to complain about. Definitely can be a go to for cheap reliable sushi! Staff were super friendly too! Come check it out

Comfort food. Microwave beside cashier. Taste better when heated up. Portion size quite reasonable.

Food wise its a definitely 3 stars and the reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because of the price. You can't expect paying little and get superior tasty quality food right. Something has to be sacrificed. Well was downtown and I was feeling cheap. Didn't want to spend too much money so decided to come to Fujiya for cheap $2.95 california rolls. If you want gyoza its $1.95 for 6 of them. A donburi is starting $3.95 and can go up to $5.95 depending what is in it. A bento box is around $5.95 / $6.95. See what I mean!! The food is made at the Fujiya in Clark location and then shipped to the Pender location downtown in the morning around 9 am. So the food has been sitting in the fridge since then. But for the price I am ok with it. The first time I came here was back in 2007 when I started working my first real job in downtown. Would come often when working downtown and the line up has always been busy here. Came here just recently since I am in the hood. Nothing changed. The price are pretty much the same as if they ignored inflation. This is a plus! As a tip. if you want good donburi like Unagi Don, come at 11:30 but no later than 11:45 because those sell out super fast. The mad rush comes at noon, when everyone or almost everyone working downtown are on lunch. Love this place and their prices!

I'm giving Fujiya 5 stars for being the best affordable take-out sushi establishment in downtown, while keeping their quality relatively high and consistent. Obviously you won't find seafood as good as Tojo's or Miku here, but you can get a very filling and tasty lunch for $5.00 - $10.00 depending on how hungry you are. The majority of their rolls range from $4.50 - $5.50 and they normally come in packs of 8 pieces. I find that on days that I'm not too hungry, I can get away with a spicy tuna roll and miso soup or a combination pack (california, salmon, cucumber, tuna) while on days that I'm famished, I may spend around $8.00+ or so on two packs of sushi or a bento and sushi. Even though there's usually a long line up, you can get in and out within 5-10 minutes since their staff are extremely efficient. Out of all the years that I've been eating here, I've never had a bad experience!

    Blue and green dies!!
    John C.

End of an era!! They have decided to replace their home made wasabi with some crap in a package. So sad, I mean you have a traditional sushi restaurant and takeout and you have to go on the cheap with packaged wasabi I!!? Look at the ingredients, blue die, green die?? You can't eat this, it tastes terrible and it manufactured with dies. I really thought they could use their original. Too bad!

    Diane S.

Great for a quick take away option. They have hot foods which you have to microwave in their microwaves. Sweet ladies here. Always friendly and smiles. Miso soup is extra but green tea is free.

Light batter, but slightly overbrowned. - Miso Black Cod: Good. More elaborate presentation than most, but very small piece. - Salmon Belly Sashimi: Very good. Fresh and delicious. - Tom Special Roll Tray: Very good. A great way to sample all the different roll, all which are very good. I thought it was reasonably priced and could adequately feed 4 people. Service was very good. There are a LOT of staff, so we were constantly being checked on to make sure we were happy and got anything we needed. Overall a good meal. It doesn't classify as the best sushi in Vancouver, but I can see the quality-value ratio might be the best in the city. All the food was quite good and certainly not overpriced. I imagine the high staff count was due to the overwhelming amount of takeout orders. I would return.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close.
