The menu pricing is also on the high end. I came for lunch getting the sashimi set. Nothing special, very ordinary. What I was surprised to see is that they use a medium grain rice rather than short grain rice. You usually see the lower end Japanese restaurants to use medium grain rice, definitely not at the high end Japanese restaurants. Maybe because this is Chinese owned. Not only was at the outside ambience and cute little garden as you enter, but the interior decoration, the politeness of the staff and the delectable sushi just made me forget I was in California. The agedashi tofu is very soft and flavorful, and its breading and green onions added a good contrast in texture. I had a reservation for weekday dinner for 7pm and was seated almost immediately. I liked the ambience of the restaurant. They have limited parking so that's a bummer and the parking is at the back of the restaurant so not too straightforward. For appetizer I had the salmon jalapeno coroquette which was pretty good. Amongst the sushi rolls, I went for the California Uramaki, Spicy Tuna, Ebi Tempura Roll, Fire Dragon Roll and the Rainbow Roll. None of the rolls particularly stood out for me. The food seemed overpriced for what it was worth. There are much better sushi spots in the bay area for much lesser cost which are more worth it. Theme: lackluster. I had such high hopes revisiting! We were incredibly hungry and had a reservation...and then waited 15 minutes after the reservation time to be seated. Not a huge deal. I think there was only one server and a few food runners and the place was packed. Because it was busy, the restaurant was incredibly loud on a Tuesday night around 8pm (which could be a positive for some folks!). They ran out of hamachi belly which was unfortunate, so we went with the California Uramaki instead (a mistake). The gold tobiko was fun, but it was lackluster and I ended up with a crab shell in my first piece. Kind of like getting an egg shell at breakfast - tainting the experience. The Negi-Hama Maki was a similar story. The green onion was fun but not worth the price point for the blandness. Now, the rainbow roll the first time we came? Amazing. This time? Lackluster. You can see from the photos the difference in quality. I will say, the Dragon Roll was A+. I'm a big fan. And the Spicy Citrus Scallop? The true star of the show. This would've been a 2 star experience if it weren't for the kindness of our server. He completely forgot about our waters (but it's ok because we had beer!) and he brought us some while we were paying the bill, which was unnecessary but kind. A delicious spot for sushi and great spot for a large team dinner -- the Fuki Sushi team was AMAZING for a large offsite for a group of ~25. They were able to get us a private sunroom area figure out a menu that had vegetarian options, would work for that large a size within budget, and had a great variety of all of their offerings. We were able to email beforehand to decide on a menu and make the reservation, so the food was coming out and drinks were flowin' at a great pace, and we could just enjoy our time together without having to make those decisions at dinner! All of the food was DELICIOUS! We had large sushi boats with a HUGE variety of options and I can't think of a single thing that didn't taste amazing. There was a large variety from lobster rolls to spicy tuna and more. The ambiance of the place was great. It was so nice to have a secluded part of the restaurant for our party, complete with knowledgeable servers just for us. The bill splitting process was easy and clean, so we wouldn't have to go through issues when expensing it on our side. I felt that the rolls had a lot of rice, but I like that the ingredients are simple. They have a small selection of alcohol (like sake or beers). We got the bottle of Kontaki Tears to share and it was a light and crisp flavor. The overall décor looked very clean sand had a theme. We made a reservation for 4 on Tock and we were seated on time once we were all present. I'm curious as to what the experience is like for the reservation in the tatami room. I think that Fuki Sushi serves some of the freshest fish I have ever had in the Bay Area (despite doordashing both times). The variety of fish they serve is delectable and each cut not only tastes like its fresh caught but basically melts in your mouth. They also have a really nice creamy texture that pairs well with the sushi rice (they even do the rice so well). This quality is pretty much unparalleled compared to other sushi restaurants in the area IMO. The Fuki Nori was my favorite - there are many different cuts and types of fish, many of which are pretty unique and not typical of traditional sushi restaurants. The salmon was very creamy, the tuna was fatty, and the tomago was soft and sweet. It reminded me of the fish from Tsukiji fish market in Japan. There were also other pieces of fish that I didn't recognize but really liked. The Kanto Chirashi and Orizuru Nirigri were also very good. I thought that they did the sushi rice pairing really well. These had more traditional types of fish but they are nonetheless very solid in quality. A little more classic and recommend these if you want to stay on the safe side. The Sukiyaki was also very flavorful. I don't typically gravitate towards this, but I was pleasantly surprised. Mixing the rice into the broth created a very delicious, sweet, and almost porridge-like dish that also reheated very well the next day. Recognize that this place is quite pricey, but I think the freshness and quality of service warrants the premium and serves as a great place for a celebration meal. Will say that portion sizes aren't enormous, but always appreciate how clean I feel after eating sashimi! read more

For lunch, they do not offer omakase of whatever. That's a disappointment, indicating no one in the kitchen was bold and creative enough to take up the role. We ordered the same Kanto Chirashi and shared a bottle of Junmai Nigori unfiltered sake (300ml). The fish part of the Chirashi was excellent. The rice was not.
