Iso Yose Mori & Ginger Tangerine Spritzer

This place transported me back to Japan. Not only was at the outside ambience and cute little garden as you enter, but the interior decoration, the politeness of the staff and the delectable sushi just made me forget I was in California. I ordered the Iso Yose Mori and it did not disappoint. All 17 pieces were delicately arranged in such a beautiful presentation that I was sad to eat it. Everything was so fresh. Paired it with a refreshing Ginger Tangerine Spritzer. Would absolutely eat this again.

We came a little before opening, but they opened a little earlier to let us and another party in, and were greeted with a quiet, calm, and well-decorated interior. We ordered the chicken karaage, agedashi tofu, rainbow roll, and beef sukiyaki. As appetizers, the agedashi tofu and chicken karaage came in first. The agedashi tofu is very soft and flavorful, and its breading and green onions added a good contrast in texture. The karaage had a more unique breading to it, which I personally did not enjoy as much. The chicken was incredibly juicy, though. The rainbow roll was fine, the fish quality decent. We were used to having rainbow rolls with imitation crab, but there was none for these. The sukiyaki was pretty good! The ingredients were fresh and brought great variety to the dish. The beef was surprisingly tender! It was a little on the sweeter side, though.

Went to Fuki Sushi for a work lunch. The ambiance was calming and peaceful. It's on the quieter side, making it easy to have a conversation. There's a small number of parking space in the back. The service was attentive but very slow, so be sure to budget your time accordingly. The food was decent. The menu features both westernized rolls and traditional maki and sashimi. There are also preset lunch specials if you're unsure what to order. The fish was fresh, but overall I think the food was significantly overpriced for what you get. I'd recommend it for business meals!

    * Food* There are so many menu items that you will be surprised! Although this is a Japanese restaurant, there are many unusual dishes that I have never seen in Japan. It's good to have a variety of menus to try! *Service* Very nice! Hot tea was served before and after the meal. *Ambiance* The restaurant was clean, calm and we had a relaxing time!

I had a reservation for weekday dinner for 7pm and was seated almost immediately. I liked the ambience of the restaurant. They have limited parking so that's a bummer and the parking is at the back of the restaurant so not too straightforward. For appetizer I had the salmon jalapeno coroquette which was pretty good. Amongst the sushi rolls, I went for the California Uramaki, Spicy Tuna, Ebi Tempura Roll, Fire Dragon Roll and the Rainbow Roll. None of the rolls particularly stood out for me. The food seemed overpriced for what it was worth. There are much better sushi spots in the bay area for much lesser cost which are more worth it. Before going in I had seen the rating to be close to a 3 and I assumed it might be better than that and hence went here since I had bookmarked it for long but now I feel the current rating of 3.4 is justified.

SO. GOOD. I can't recommend this place enough. The only thing that bothers me is the parking, it's so limited we had to park across the street in a business park lot. The food, services, ambiance, EVERYTHING is fantastic. See picture attached.

Agedashi Tofu, Oyster Uramaki, Unagi Nigiri, Snow Angel Yuki Nigiri...excellent with ginger soy wasabi... definitely a delightful dinner!

The space is intimate, with only 8 counter seats, so you're served directly by chef Li. To my surprise, all of the seats were full on a Friday at lunch. I didn't want to drink too much at lunch, but they had a $29 sake flight of three 1.5 oz pours, which was just the right amount to pair with the sushi but still be able to go back to work after lunch! Pre sushi: 1. Pickled baby ginger: I love this stuff, and he was good about refilling it 2. Crab with Japanese citrus jelly and shiso: a generous amount of sweet, fresh crab 3. Ankimo: two pieces, served with wasabi 4. Signature octopus: massaged 1 hour and stewed 1 hour - very flavorful and tender 5. Steamed abalone: served over soba with abalone liver sauce 6. Seaweed shot 7. Chawanmushi with scallops and caviar Sushi: 1. Hokkaido scallop with yuzu and sea salt 2. Spanish mackerel 3. Akami: lean bluefin tuna 4. Kinmedai: golden eye snapper, torched 5. Isaki: 3 line grunt fish 6. Kelp cured black snapper, shiso leaf, yuzu 7. Chutoro 8. Saba: mackerel with kelp 9. Otoro: torched, topped with uni The scallop and kinmedai were the highlights for me. We also got one of the à la carte add ons: the hand chopped fatty tuna and uni hand roll. To finish: red miso soup At the end, you can watch the chef preparing the bento boxes, which was a good reminder for me to keep my eye out for the next available pickup. The fish was high quality, and the pieces were cut to the right size (I've been to way too many places with unappealingly large cuts). Each course was thoughtfully prepared, and pacing was consistent. For the quality and quantity of food, as well as the service and dining experience, this was a hot deal for $125 a person. We will definitely be coming back!

The presentation is also lovely. I also loved the pickled ginger (that they keep refilling for you). Overall would highly recommend!

Super convenient to get to, there's a parking lot right around the corner, and the food here is…read morereally good. Decor is meh and it feels a little like you're eating in a cafeteria, but I get it - this is a restaurant in a college town, and college kids don't really care. I also don't care, as long as keeping the decor kind of ugly also keeps the prices kind of low. I always get the chirashi bowl here. It can sometimes be a bit inconsistent, but it's still delicious. Case in point, when I've come here with 4 people (which is the norm for me), the quantity of items in the bowl has been larger. I then came with just my dad, and there were noticeably fewer pieces of everything, and the quality was worse. It could've just been an off day, or maybe we came on a day just before their next delivery and they were short on everything, but that was pretty disappointing, since we were celebrating his 85th birthday and it felt very lackluster, especially after I'd told him how amazing this place was. Prices are good, service isn't overly friendly or helpful, but they get the job done and are fairly efficient. Absolutely HATE that they put lemon in the water. MJ, please stop doing this. Invest in a good water filter, and save yourself the expense of buying the lemons to cover up the taste of crappy tap water. There was a study that came out many years back that noted that something like 70% of lemon wedges in restaurants are contaminated with a whole host of microorganisms, many of which are either harmful (like e. coli) or just gross (like candida yeast *shudder*). I straight up will not drink the water here, which is a shame, since I like to stay hydrated while eating a meal. This is my new go-to place for well-priced sushi, so I'm hoping that they continue to stay consistent because I really don't want to have to go searching for another spot to replace them if prices start going up or quality starts going down.
