I don't know who this Ouzen character is or how to say their name... BUT they KNOW how to make KATSU! We arrived a little after 7:00 pm and the place was BUSY! For good reason the food is amazing! Love the simple stylish vibe too. Definitely coming back... and often!

This is yet another Katsu place in Suwanee... The place was minimalist chic...but one with somewhat of a cold ambiance. This seemed to be a Korean-owned or managed place...and as expected, the service was very quick and attentive. I tried their Chicken Katsu platter, with 2 Shrimp Tempura (one with Butter batter, and one with Black Sesame?). Well, here's the deal. While I thought the foods here were high quality, the Katsu wasn't my type...it was the thicker, chunkier version, more focused on the meat. I actually prefer the thinner cuts of meat, with the crispier batter. I think if you love quality katsu, with chunkier meats, you may like this place. Unfortunately, it just wasn't my kind of katsu.

We visited this restaurant during its soft opening, and while the interior decoration felt a bit sparse and unfinished, its early reputation had already generated positive buzz. The katsu was the highlight of the meal, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and well-prepared. It paired nicely with the accompanying side dishes, and we genuinely enjoyed every bite. Service was attentive and courteous, which made a positive impression, especially during an opening phase when operations can often feel disorganized. One small note for improvement is that even during a soft opening, the handwritten memorandums posted at the entrance felt a bit unpolished and could have been avoided or replaced with a more refined sign.

Food was yummy and the portion size was generous. I liked that they added soups and sides with the katsu, makes it feel like a well rounded meal. The udon was a bit bland but I'm not sure if that's just the style of the region. Servers were nice and the restaurant was clean and well lit. There was a line by 6:30 so try to get there a bit earlier

Love that more Katsu places are coming to this area and wanted to try the newest addition. We went during the soft opening week around 7pm and waited about 30min before being seated. FOOD: Kurogoma Hire Katsu ($16.99) - The black sesame bread crumbs add a nice touch and the pork is superrrr tender. They give instructions on how to best enjoy the Katsu but I thought it was best paired with the truffle salt. Build your own Mix Katsu (2 shrimp Katsu/Cheese Katsu $16.99) - You can choose between kurogoma or black sesame bread crumbs for the shrimp Katsu. I tried the kurogoma coated shrimp and it was well cooked. Crispy on the outside and the coating wasn't too thick. The cheese Katsu was very generous in cheese and tasty. SERVICE: They were using only half the dining area and a limited menu for soft opening and it was still a bit chaotic. They are definitely understaffed as the 2 male servers were hustling to do everything as quickly as they could. Hopefully they will work out the kinks for the grand opening. OVERALL: I do think the wait was worth it and I will definitely be back when they have the full menu. Highly recommend giving it a try!

Unpopular opinion : You can never have too many katsu restaurants to choose from. Why? Because competitive environments create greatness. What makes this place special? 1 Different breading options : This is a gamechanger. They even bake their own bread that is used for make their special bread crumb mixture. 2 Combos - You can order half portions of katsu + soup for a balanced meal. 3 Debasaki Wings - This famous Nagoya specialty is here. 4 This is a Korean version of Japanese katsu. Do not compare to authentic Japanese food, as this is a creative and innovative Korean approach to Japanese food. 5 Housemade cheongyang pepper peato for katsu topping, which is truly unique. 6 Umami rich truffle salt for dipping provided with every katsu order. 7 Yamakurage side dish, special pickled lettuce stem that is a 168 hour fermentation process and pairs deliciously with rice. This is a brand new restaurant and still in soft opening, currently open to the public. Please be patient until their Grand Opening. Currently, waiter service and tipping required. No touch screen kiosk.

Mixed katsu with pork tender and cheese

There have been a lot of new katsu places in the area that were mediocre despite all the raving reviews, so I had my suspicions about this place too. But nope, this place holds up to all the great reviews I heard and saw. We ordered the beef udon and their mixed katsu option with pork tender and cheese. Everything was delicious! Perfectly cooked and flavored. I am normally not a cheese katsu person, but it was good! Not too much cheese that overpowers the whole taste. Udon was great too and was the perfect combination with the katsu. Portions seemed smaller, more like what you'd get in Korea, which was perfect for me but others could need more food. Service was a bit lacking. There was only one male server even on a busy weekend lunch. A lady came out to help, but you still had to wait a while to get their attention. They had other workers there, but most seemed to have been in the kitchen setting up the trays. Hopefully they'll be able to improve that because otherwise I'd definitely visit again!

Came by during their soft opening after spotting the new sign while driving last and had to stop in. I ordered the Kurogoma Hire Katsu, and it did not disappoint. The pork was incredibly tender, and the breading had this smooth, nutty flavor from the black sesame that set it apart from any other katsu I've tried and really enjoyed it. Everything on the plate felt balanced with a crispy outside, juicy inside, with light cabbage with their own dressing they bring on the side, rice, and miso soup that rounded it out perfectly. You can tell they care about the details and quality here, even this early on. Excited to come back once they're fully open. Spot is a thumbs up from me!

This new Katsu place in Suwanee is really good! I came on a Tuesday for lunch with a friend, and it was bustling with people even during the weekdays. The menu is mostly just katsu with limited other options like noodles and curry. I got the cheese katsu and black sesame katsu mix platter. The cheese katsu was delicious, and the cheese pull was really good. The black sesame katsu was good, but the meat was a little gamey to me. Both cuts were very tender, and I really enjoyed the meal. Service was a little slow, with just two waiters for the restaurant, so it took a while to be able to get the check for my table.

This restaurant was recommended to me and I'm very happy that I went and tried it. The menu is full of excellent options and I've returned twice now. The food is absolutely delicious, incredibly fresh. Service is top notch. Great atmosphere to come alone or with a group.

Came during their soft opening, Service was great and helpful, and it wasn't hard to hear your party while sitting together. 10/10 would come again. Everything was crispy and all the sauces served a purpose.

    Chicken Karage

Service was great! An A+! The servers were attentive, knowledgeable and professional. The Don Katsu itself was an A. A nice crisp on the outside, but juicy and meaty on the inside. The only thing that didn't make it an A+ was the fact that it felt a little small for what I paid for. The sauce, however, was only a B- . It tasted store bought, and it most likley was. In my opinion, any Katsu is as good as the sauce you dip it in. The sauce felt like they kinda dialed it in. I also got the Chicken Karage. This was good. B+/A-. It was well battered, and the chicken itself was nicely seasoned and juicy. It wasn't as crispy as I like it, but that could be a preference thing. It did have some crisp, but not as much as I preferred. I'll give the Ambiance a solid B. It was warm and welcoming, and didn't feel pretentious. I did feel a little rushed at the end. It felt they wanted me to eat as fast as I could and get out of there so I could open up the table for someone else. (Which is the point of making money for the establishment, so I get it, but it would have been nice if I could have enjoyed the meal without feeling like I was taking up space) To be fair, I went during their soft opening, so maybe they changed a few things since then. All in all, I would call this a pleasant experience, and would recommend going to Katsu Bu Ouzen at least once.

Went during their soft opening. Katsu flavor and texture were excellent. Loved the plating with pickles and their house dressing for the cabbage salad. We enjoyed the Chicken Karaage as much if not a little more than the Katsu.

I stumbled upon Tenya while in town on a Tuesday, scrolling Yelp in search of a solid lunch spot, and I'm glad I did. This is a family-owned Japanese eatery that specializes in comfort food, and according to their website, everything is made from scratch, which absolutely shows in the quality. I placed my order online and picked it up with ease. I ordered the Shrimp Saku Saku appetizer along with a fresh garden Tenya salad. The shrimp were excellent, perfectly crispy with a flavorful panko coating that didn't feel heavy or greasy. The salad was impressively fresh and came with their house-made ginger dressing, which paired beautifully with the crisp greens and added just the right balance of sweetness and tang. Inside, the restaurant is quaint and cozy, with a decent amount of seating for its size. The customer service was warm and welcoming; the lady at the counter greeted me kindly and had my order ready shortly after I arrived, making the pickup process smooth and pleasant. A nice bonus is the selection of packaged Japanese snacks and drinks available at the counter, always a fun touch and something you don't see everywhere. Next time, I plan to dine in and explore more of the menu, along with sampling some of those snacks and drinks. Tenya is a great example of simple, thoughtfully prepared food done right. I'll definitely be back.
