Absolute banger. Handsome fellow in the kitchen from New Orleans knows how to throw down a mean po boy sandwich, not to mention his divine soups. His sparkling smile alone elevates this establishment and its food on another level. Service was exceptional, I have strong words for anyone who can't appreciate Jackie's unique style of communication, she is absolutely lovely under her hard exterior. If you get to see Shannon in his flow state, oh boy. Who knew being a bartender could be mastered in such a unique fashion and with so much style. A wonderful new added place in the friendly town of Ouray Colorado it's within walking distance from where we stay when we're in town. We came in late as the bar was getting ready to close but the nice bartender was kind enough to let us have a 1 and done beer before she closed so she recommended Mountain Time I liked it so much that we stopped at a liquor store in Ridgeway on our way home and purchased a 12 pack to bring back to Mesa Arizona. We didn't get a chance to try the food here but it's on our to do list when we return in May. But if you want a nice ice cold beer and great customer service this is a place worth stopping in. read more

This was the first restaurant we tried during our visit to Ouray from Denver. We started with the pretzels and they were a tad undercooked. Definitely needed a minute or two more. However, we all enjoyed our meals. My wife says the french dip was very good, my mom had the wings and my dad and I have the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. We had a delicious late lunch at the Saloon on our first day in Ouray. My gumbo was quite good and loaded with tender chicken and spicy sausage and had a tasty roux base. George had the corned beef sandwich, which was loaded with tasty and tender corned beef, Swiss cheese, and smeared with yummy stone ground mustard. The side of pickles added a nice crunchy texture to the sandwich. We also had tasty wine and beer. Our bartender/server Kellan was super friendly, efficient, and gracious. The bar didn't have the ingredients for my go-to cocktail, the Hemingway, but Kellan made me a very tasty Daiquiri, served up, which satisfied my cocktail craving. We also met Kelly, another friendly bartender who was hanging out, and we ended up going over to the bar where she works at The Western and having more delicious drinks (Hemingway included) with Kelly. We were looking for an evening snack and nearly every place in town was closed, even though it was before what their "closing time" was supposed to be! We were super excited to try the cheese curds, but were a little sad to find the menu had changed and they didn't have them anymore. When I order my drink (which was on the menu) she rolled her eyes & told me "it would be a while" to get my drink made. Which is no problem we were in no hurry but it's the attitude behind it & why we decided to leave before we even got our drinks. That's not how anyone should be treated especially paying & nice customers. We've had nothing but positive experiences with other bars & grills in town so it was disappointing that this couldn't be one of them! Stopped in for a cold beer about 3:00 in the afternoon. We sat on the patio. The waitress left a menu for us and we were intrigued with the sound of homemade tator tots. Pretty terrible experience. Stopped in on a Friday night and before even saying hello, the server told us the kitchen was closed. We said that was fine and we'd like to order drinks and asked about the karaoke that was listed on the website. We were told that it was winter (contrary to the warm weather and all the tourists walking around town in shorts and t shirts), then she just walked away without taking our drink order. Stopped in on our first night in Ouray and sat at the bar. Our bartender, Jeff, was great. Food was great. We had the yak egg rolls for an appetizer and they were tasty. Parking was pretty ample (at least when we arrived) and we loved that they had designated spots for motorcycles! As we entered, I took a quick self-guided tour...bar was cool and I'm a pool shark, so I loved that they had a pool room! 9 Ball anyone? Once seated by our host and server, we quickly checked out the menu and within minutes knew what we wanted. BOOM! Let's order up! Got two grilled chicken sandwiches, a burger and ordered both the reg fries and sweet potato fries. All was delish! The decor was inviting and comfortable. Loved all the TV's and how they mixed up Colorado western with modern light fixtures! The outdoor seating (picnic table style) looked equally as nice with market umbrellas and the wine barrel tables and chairs were cool. Overall, we really dug this place! The only reason I am giving a bad review for this place is not the food but terrible customer service. The girl/our server was overconfident. I had to request a drink menu myself without her offering it at all.. Part of our order was Bacon Jalapeño Poppers. When we ordered the bacon Jalapeño poppers as it said on the menu, they were SUPER HOT that they burned our tongue and hands the moment we took a bite. We were not warned of that at all! And they were missing the bacon but were just fried Jalapeño with cream cheese. When we told her, all she said was I am not sure what happened and just avoided the whole conversation and left. There was no apology! I spoke to manager with same concern and he mentioned that it was supposed to be with bacon and got us the bacon strip separately. They did take it off from the check after I spoke to the Manager, who was nice and understood what customer was saying. Later our server comes and mentions "oh good you got the bacon!" I mean really?!?!?! When the take out boxes came, they were too small for the portions as well. I had to request a common sense request to give a bigger box for the portions on the table. Our dinner was definitely ruined with the customer service and our server's inconsiderate and rude behavior. I wasn't too sure about this place. Walked in as the first guest and was welcomed with Luke warm hospitality, But once sat the personality changed. Our server was awesome and probably the best burger I've eaten in years.... And I used to run Food and Beverage for Hopdoddy Burger Bars. The beer was cold and local and the server was professional but not stiff and stuffy. Great value and warm service. This is the kind of place to hang your hat up at if you lived in the area.
