I took a small group, 3 to be exact, of my adult students into this store today to buy some snacks. Never mind the fact that one had to wait outside with my co worker because their entrance had stairs and he was in a wheelchair. Anyways, snacks are located underneath the register counter and "Becky with the blond hair" was standing behind the counter. Two of my students went to look for candy and another walked aimlessly into the store, away from us, but in no harm to himself or anyone else for that matter. My backed was turned as I was grabbing some ice cream and I hear "Becky" yell out several times for my one students to come back. He was already walking back and I proceeded to tell "Becky" I would handle him. She replied that she used to be a teacher. Still not sure why she said this. I then went to the counter where my two other students were. One had picked his candy out and the other was knelt down in front of the counter still looking. He stands up and pulls his pants up from his back pockets and "Becky" loudly tells him, "You can't put that there!" I was shocked to say the least. My student stands there, opens his hands, and tells her he doesn't have anything. "Becky" replies, "I saw you!" and comes around the counter to check his pockets! I'm speechless and embarrassed for my student. "Becky with the blond hair" offered no apology so I gather all their candy, place it on the counter and tell her, "My students are not thieves" and leave. I have brought my students here many times before this and have never experienced such rude, obnoxious, behavior from an employee. My students work in downtown Fullerton and it was a nice place to take them to after lunch. However, thanks to "Becky with the blond hair" I will avoid this place like the plague. Oh and about their stairs at the store entrance, it's not very customer friendly to make someone in a wheelchair go around your building so you can unlock your unused door to let them in. Kind of discriminatory in this day and age. Something your "Becky with the blond hair" should know about having supposedly been a teacher. Shame on you lady! read more

Great store but no parking. Several times I have driven by Ace, only to have to keep going on to someplace else because there's nowhere to park. It's a pretty big parking lot, but there are times when it is completely full and there's no street parking, either. I know this isn't Ace's fault and that stinks for them. Now if I'm in a hurry I drive straight to one of the big places where I'll have a place to park and I can run in and out. read more

I am a frequent customer at this location and love to give them my business. I had always experienced great customer service prior to what occurred on my last visit. The interaction I had with the cashier, Rachel, was probably the poorest customer service I've ever had. I tried my best to be patient with the interaction. I asked her a question about the product, and she rudely slammed it on the counter. When I asked if I should insert my chip with my card, she audibly told me to "Shut up," which was heard by the people I was with. I honestly was shocked. I had never received terrible service here and was always happy to give them my patronage. I can only hope she doesn't treat other customers like this. read more

I sent the following toFullerton Ace Hardware this afternoon for their excellent service: "At your store this afternoon around 17:00 I was searching for products and a young lady (I did not get her name, brunette) came over and asked what I was looking for and what the purpose was. I told her that the Sears website recommended Ace Hardware for the refrigerator glue and tape. She helped me immensely with two of the products. She asked the young lady with the short white hair (who has helped greatly before) where to find paraffin. The first went over to another aisle and fetched it for me. I went over to the checkout aisle and while waiting in line the first lady came over and said she told another employee what I was searching for (refrigerator glue) and he recommended the glue she gave me instead of the glue I had picked up. She even put the original glue back for me. When I came to the cashier she asked me what I wanted the products for and I told her for the refrigerator handle. She recommended Reliable Parts in Anaheim for anything to do with refrigerators. I was astounded. These three employee were bending over backwards trying to help me. I compliment all of them and hope they get recognized for their outstanding customer service. Next time I hope I write down their names so such compliments as the above I will zone in on who the employee was. I will now go to whatever sites I can compliment your ACE Hardware for." I have been going to the ACE store in Anaheim for years mostly when I can't find an item at any of the other stores closer to my house. However, I have managed to acquire a couple of gift cards for ACE that have been burning a hole in my wallet for a very long time. Today, I had a chance to use up some of that money and sure enough ACE once again had in stock what the other major stores closer to my house did not. The floor person was Johnny on the spot and found the two items I needed with no problem. I can't recall a bad experience ever at this store in all the years I have stopped in there. By the time I returned to the check out stand with the checker (possibly owner of store, not sure) a line had formed and another checker was called to help out. I used my cards and was told the tools I purchased would not fit in a bag. No problem I replied. As I struggled to put the receipt in my wallet the sales person told me to move along now as there are people waiting in line. WOW, I'm an old person and I honestly can not recall ever anyone telling me to get out of the way after making a average purchase. I asked if she was chasing me out and she replied yes. Ha ha ha I hope she was kidding but her facial expression did not say that to me. Before writing this review I read numerous one ratings and it appears ACE has a problem with public relations, who would have known. All the good things that I experienced over the years suddenly took a back seat to this one remark. I'm sure the store has been under a lot of strain due to COVID and business isn't up to par so I will let it go. BUT, (yeah, there's always a yeah but) this incident kept bugging me all day so to release a little tension I wrote this review in hopes someone that matters reads it. Will not take a return if not bought in their store, even with a receipt. They said they wouldn't return it because they were independently operated and would be out of money. I even asked for a store credit and I would spend it there. No wonder stores with this mentality will slowly die on the vine except in rural areas. Home Depot or Lowe's and even Wal-Mart carries every thing they have here at better prices and a modern return policy. Lost a key demographic customer. Really love shopping at Fullerton Ace Hardware. It's newly accessible from Commonwealth Ave as well as the public parking entrance in the back. The employees are extraordinarily helpful. Love their full line of Bona products for wood floors as well as their line of fabulous paint from Ben Moore. I normally go to Lowes or Home Depot but after today, i will definitely be heading back to Ace. Stopped by to get a key copy. As soon as i entered was greeted by a friendly lady asking me what i needed help with. Directed me to the back and asked for someone to help. After waiting for few minutes no one showed up so the same lady saw me and then called someone again to assist. Finally someone shows up and first thing he does is apologizes for the wait. Gives me the copied key and says it is free. I offered to pay but insisted that bc i waited it was free. The key probably cost less than $2 but this is the kind of customer service this store showcases. Im so glad there are still stores out there like this. read more

They almost always have what I need. If they do not they refer me to someplace that does. Their staff are very knowledgable and are always helpful. DIY is easy with them Normally they have ample parking but try to avoid Tuesday evenings when the nearby restaurants run specials and the parking lots are very crowed. read more

This place is sucks! No trust on customers! I visited to return a tool ($30 value) because it didn't work for me but the clerk said they don't accept any return after 30 days no matter receipt exists or not and she didn't even offer a store credit. So far it was acceptable because I came too late to return it but when I asked to the owner of the store if I can return it because it didn't work for me, he said he cannot take the return because it's opened and he cannot resell it. But the funny thing was it was an opened item from the beginning! (it was the last item and the salesman recommended it) So I explained him it was opened already when I bought it but he didn't believe and told me "we never sell opened item" and asked me to bring the salesman who sold it! What a customer satisfying mind! They don't care the customer at all and even treated as a liar? And what will happen to the salesman if I bring him to the owner? Overpriced. While I try and try again to go to this place I find the staff indignant, items highly marked up, and the cashiers not really able to do their function without it being a major production on their end. The lines are long, if you ask a question it's rare you will get a professional answer, and then a few more people who don't know also chime in. By the time you leave you've spent two hours in there, bought nothing more than a fancy spatula or a kids toy, neither of which you needed. read more

For a hardware store this place tends to carry a good selection of a wide variety of products. General items of an Plumbing, Electrical or Hardware selection are usually in stock, however, the prices are little higher than what you'd pay at a larger hardware store such as Lowes or Home Depot. For convenience, if you don't wish to fight the crowds in a larger store or just live close, then Fullerton Hardware is great for the occasional item. Service is excellent once you find someone who is free. This can sometimes be a challenge, but I find that if I need help, just ask the person behind the register and they can radio for assistance for you. read more

I love this place. I usually shop here around Christmas. Today I needed replacement lights and a certain tac I use to hang my Christmas lights. It's really fun to go down all the aisles to see what they carry. I needed help to find what I was looking for and my mission for the day was accomplished. I need to go back when I have more time. I love having this hardware store in town and so close. This is my project go-to when I forgot something at the bigger home improvement stores or just don't want to drive that far just to get screws or something. The people in here are very nice and helpful, never have I been in need of help in this store that wasn't tended to immediately. Every worker in the store is connected to each other with a walkie-talkie radio, and if they can't answer your question they ask everyone else straight away on the thing for an instant answer. I also feel like I am walking back to a friendlier time when I go here. The thought of a small hardware and household department store business still managing to compete in this era of mega-home improvement chains and internet shopping is quite a testament to them and the service they provide. My six-year old son loves to go here with me for the 25 cent bag of Popcorn. We will keep coming back as long as they are there. read more

This is a gem of a hardware store located right downtown. The service exceeds expectation. I can't tell you how many times a month I stop in for light bulbs, screws, household repair items, supplies and even last minute gifts. They have it all!!! Went there to buy a new flag. Several people walked by no offer of help. 3 workers, "sales people" standing a few feet away chatting loudly no offer of help. Horrible selection, finally chose one not cheap 45.99. Started to look around but totally ignored by "sales people" so I went to checkout. A very surly girl who was apparently chatting and laughing with a girl friend who unwillingly moved a foot or so aside and the girl at the cash register acting surly ( sorry only word that fits), cashed me out, no thank you for shopping with us, didn't bother to hand me the receipt or put it in the bag just laid it on top where if I'd picked up the bag it would have been lost. When I politely asked her to put it in the bag she ignored me until the fourth time, then said huh? I said for the 5th time put it in the bag and she did, grudgingly. None of these people are earning their pay, and none should have anything to do with the public especially working in retail. I probably will go back because it's close but that's the only reason. 1 star is still too many. read more

Its more of a novelty hardware store, and out of the convenience of being able to walk here that I go. It is way over priced. I only go here for have to, last minute shops. I would never consider this store for any trips that i needed more then 2 items at anytime. The employees are very friendly, not all knowledgable (didnt know what outdoor weather sealer for wood decks was etc), but still very friendly and willing to help. read more

Today was my first time in this store. I found everything on my list and was impressed with the inventory and display. I run a business too and I can spot employee satisfaction when I see it. Great people and so friendly even when tested. I had a problem at check-out. I was using a ACE gift card that would not work. Rita, one of the experts there grabbed the phone got it handled right away. I guarantee 99% of the business out there (even mine) would have sent me away unhappy. Way to go people! read more

I have always taken my window screens here to be re-screened. It would usually take 2 days, 3 at the most. I dropped off a screen to be re-screened on Thursday and was told by Dan that it would be done on Saturday. Since I was going to be out of town, he said that it would be ready on Monday. I went there on Tuesday and to my surprise, it wasn't done. Dan then tells me that it takes a week to do the screens. If it takes a week, why was I originally told that it would be done in a couple of days. Dan then tells me that he will see when I can pick it up and leaves. I tell the cashier to let Dan know that I had to leave because I have a doctor's appointment and will come back tomorrow. About 20 minutes later Dan calls and tells me my screen is done and to pick it up on my way home. Yeah right, I already drove from Huntington Beach to Fullerton and now he thinks I am going to drive back from Huntington Beach to Fullerton again today. I am taking my business someplace else because of the poor service this Ace has now. read more

Worst customer experience ever at this store! I came in to have a window screen re-screened and another made for a window that didn't have a screen. I walk in and tell the guy (I think his name is Dan) what I want and he looks at me like he doesn't understand English. Finally he says something and takes my screen order. They tell me they will call me in about a week when it's ready. Two weeks go by and I call them to check on the screens and they tell me they are backed up and will call me in a few days. They finally call me and the screen that was re-screened is ok but the new screen is twisted but the guy tells me that it will straighten out when I install it. I go home and replace the non-twisted screen and attempt to replace the twisted screen and noticed the tabs are too far away from the ends that I was unable to pull the screen back in the track especially with is been so twisted. The screen keeps popping out so I take it back about a week later and I nicely ask another employee if they can redo the screen so it is not twisted and place the tabs closer to the ends so I can pull it in the track. He says ok and he'll call me when it's ready. Three weeks go by and I call and talk to someone and he says they have been backed up and it will be ready that day. I didn't receive any call back. I wait a week and just go down to the store and the first employee Dan who originally helped me says I'll be right back. He knows why I'm down there and probably is buying time to think up an excuse. Another employee comes by and I ask him if my screen is ready. He comes back and tells me no it's not and that he tried calling me because they were waiting for parts and he just kept getting my voice mail. I tell him no, I didn't receive any missed calls and besides why didn't he just leave me a message. This guy just runs away mumbling something about he had another employee stand by him while he was calling me. I'm just like whatever. So Dan finally comes back and says I'll redo the screen right now just give me 10 minutes. If he could do it in 10 minutes why did it take 4 weeks? He returns about 15 minutes later and the screen looks the same. It is still twisted and the tabs are in the same place. I tell him the screen is still twisted and the tabs are in the same place. He tells me there's nothing he can do about the tabs. If that was the case why didn't the guy tell me that when I first took it back? I ask him for a refund and points to the check out counter and rips the screen out of my hand. This place hires very unprofessional and unethical employees and I would never set foot in this store again. read more
