I love this trail! The boyfriend and I have been running this trail for about 3 months now. Everyone is super friendly and usually waves, says hi or smiles when we run by them. There are also a lot of bikers so make you can hear when they are coming up behind you! The trail runs behind residential areas so it's pretty safe. We usually go around 630p until about 730-8p and it's not crowded at all. A lot of people bring their dogs but poop has never really been an issue. The trail has markers every quarter mile which are extremely helpful if you don't have some sort of device that tracks your distance. I would highly recommend this trail for all levels of runners. read more

Been riding here for years now and I enjoy the nice easy ride after work. Usually meet some friends and have a chat during the ride, takes a little over an hour, 10.5 miles or 11.5 miles if you do the Golf Course too. You can find a map online or just use Strava, but it's not going to be easy if this is your first time here. Or just follow other bikers, join STR or some bike shops who organize rides here. And have a nice dinner and a beer after the ride with your friends, that's what we do most of the time. read more

Awesome bike trail! I ride here multiple times a week. The perfect escape without having to leave the city. Just watch out for runners and walkers coming and going in both directions. If you get out here early enough you can avoid the big crowds. There aren't many trails like this left in Orange County, there is a lake with a lot of beautiful scenery. The perfect mixture of hills and options to make your own route. Just be mindful to others. read more

I have been doing this loop for 10+ years now, day time, night time, week days, week ends. After all that time this is still one of the best trails around. It is not super hard or technical. No really bad climbs, or super descents. But man it is fun!!!! Going at a good pace you can do 45min-1hr pretty easy. But we have also done the loop in over 2hrs. All depends on how often you want to stop, look out over the city and enjoy the view. There are plenty of other trails out there, epically if you need a hard training ride, or want to race your buddy. But if you are looking for a fun loop this is it. read more

This trail is an excellent workout. There are a variety of surfaces: rocky, soft hills, and street. There are plenty of side loops that allow you to make your own adventure. I highly suggest printing out a map of the trail before venturing out. Unfortunately, it is easy to get lost. There is a printable map on the parks and recreation section of the City of Fullerton website. Saturday morning is the worst time. There are too many people. Weekday mornings are equally as bad as school kids wander aimlessly. I like to ramble through on late afternoons and early morning. I see night riders at all hours but I am not brave enough. Everyone on the trail is pretty friendly, polite, and courteous. Occasionally there is a d-bag who does not observe the 'rules of the road.' Don't be that guy. Announce yourself when you want to pass. Don't cut people off. Remember the right of way rules posted at the trail entrances. read more

This trail is great, there are options for riders of all capabilities. This was my first time out with and happened to be invited to a large group for a Sunday ride. The people that I was riding with showed me some shortcuts as I am not quite ready to tackle the full loop which made it easier to not get discouraged. I've done this trail in two parts because, unlike what most yelpers are writing, it's actually difficult to do in one trip (unless you're very experienced). The Fullerton Loop makes the Back Bay Loop in Newport Beach seem like a baby's bike ride. It's definitely not for beginners, however, you can do sections of it like I did and work your way up. One day I'll have to do it in one continuous loop. The first half is hard but the good news is that the second half is easy. The reason I'm subtracting a star is because this trail is extremely hard to follow. There are very few markers and if you don't have a map you're going to run off course. This is especially true near the end when you go underneath Harbor Blvd. along an abandoned train track and then go a on a very narrow path next to a golf course, then you go underneath Bastanchury through a tunnel, wander around some dirt paths surrounded by skinny trees in a canyon, etc. It was fucking ridiculous! Also, there are some unnecessary parts, like near Parks Junior High where you cut behind some houses. That's dumb. I just take Parks up and turn left on Rosecrans. Be careful when you go on the Castlewood Trail next to Coyote Hills, going down Nora Kuttner and going down the Brea Dam area. Those three spots are steep. 8/1/2016 update: I finished the loop in one ride! read more

Always plenty of easy parking at the courthouse, the trail is consistently wide enough so it's no biggie if it's busy, and just a nice mix of terrain, features, and scenery. It's not the most technically challenging, but there are extra credit options to kick that up a notch or two. If you're not getting a good workout in, then you're not riding it hard enough or doing enough laps (four is my record so far). Each lap around the Loop is about 11 miles and just over 1,000' of climbing. There are plenty of extra credit sections, and the "superloop" route makes it just under 18 miles with about 1,900' of climbing. That is currently my go-to loop. I like that I pass my car every 11 miles, so I don't have to carry any more than a single water bottle on my bike. I can also grab a snack and make any gear or equipment adjustments at the car. Other advantages over riding in places like the Santa Anas include no bugs, shorter travel time to the trailhead (for me), and not being so far from civilization if something goes wrong. I've started running this trail since the end of May and it has been a great run every time. I have found that you can easily modify your run/bike ride by switching up the trails you use, cutting some corners, or taking other side routes to lengthen the total distance your cover. With a mix of street, trail, flat surface, and hills, it is a great course that will keep challenging you. At times it can get a little tricky. Also, It tends to have lighter traffic mid-day until about 4pm. Weekends and holidays are popular days to hit the trail so keep that in mind in case you are looking for some peace. Came here to walk with a friend on a Saturday morning. The start of the trail was more crowded than I had expected it to be but the trail is long and and spacious so the people traffic ended up spreading out along the way. The trail is very versatile! When we went, people were walking, running, walking their dogs, biking etc. Definitely going back soon! The Fullerton loop is a nice place to walk, run or mountain bike. It has a nice lake and big beautiful trees with shade. I seen many people walking their dogs and riding horses. I recommend this place for anyone who loves the outdoors. read more

Ok, it's not the Alps; but it's a fantastic 12 mile loop stitched together through the open space in Fullerton. It has some oddities like a weird little tack to the left up a pedestrian path between houses that drops you on the street where you later meet up the path in the park you were already on. Go figure. Aside from such idiosyncrasies it makes for a great way to stretch out your legs and unwind. It's mostly gently rolling with a few very short steep climbs/descents. The trails are multi-use and very popular, but the path is generally wide and it's no problem as long as you don't ride like a total d**k. Some sections are quite popular with equestrians, and other areas attract a lot of families with small children. Take due care in these areas and be considerate. Have a map the first time. You'll need it. Once you do one loop you'll have it, but the first time through you need to know where the seams are between the various trails that are stitched together to form the loop. One extension is a loop up to the top of the hill near the Summit House on the Panorama trail. Personally, I found this section less attractive. Much of the surface on the extension is sloppy sand or gravel, which I did not find all that fun on a cross-country bike with 2.1 in. tires. Your mileage will vary. This trail is a treasure in the middle of the city. Enjoy! read more

Super neat trail that I ran on the day of my birthday. I grabbed my Camelbak since it was pretty warm that day and off I went. Almost made a wrong turn so if you can like I did follow some people that are in front of you,haha. Some parts of the terrain are soft and other parts are hard and have grooves from the mountain bikes. Watch for the horse doo-doo and the holes from snakes, gophers and such on the trail. If you go far enough there will be Laguna Lake which is a beautiful place hidden in the middle of Fullerton. Nice place to take a break, catch your breath and go back. There are also connectors to other trails. I have yet to try the others since it was my first time and I wanted to make it home in one piece. P.S. I suggest to bring a Camelbak or some type of water apparatus since there are no watering holes other than the lake but I don't suggest to drink that. Anyhow, cool trail, hydrate and enjoy the scenery. read more

We visited on a Saturday morning and it had a fair amount of traffic--in both directions, though the better part of it was flowing clockwise. I'd rate clockwise as an easy trail--it has a few short but fairly steep climbs but as a whole, the main parts of single(double/triplewide) track and pavement are mild and beginner friendly. It's a fun loop if you want to get out for some fresh air and exercise but if you're looking for legit MTB trails, keep looking. read more

Great trail for beginners. My brother and I went there for the first time and it was great. Beautiful scenery, challenging uphill sections and fun downhill slopes. Plenty of parking at the courthouse. Ended up getting a flat and had to walk all the way back to the car. Other riders were friendly and offered a tire pump but I didn't have a spare. Next time I'll definitely bring a spare so we can finish the trail and a map of the loop because there's so many other trails. Overall fun experience! read more

This trail is really cool. It's the closest thing you'll get to a walk in the country in Fullerton. There are some spots where it leads you to the streets with cars, but mostly you're nestled in a quiet area behind some real nice houses. I especially love how about 1.5 miles out you run into Laguna Lake which is beautiful and full of a wide array of animals from fish to ducks to lizards. This trail is a great place to take a bike ride or just have a nice quiet walk. read more

This is a great local trail that winds through the hills and past a few city streets. If you live in the Fullerton, Brea, or La Habra area it is a quick, convenient, and somewhat easy option to spin the wheels in some dirt. As this is a multiuse trail for bikers, hikers, and horses, it can get busy during peak times. I have ridden this trail for over 8 years. There are a few treacherous sections and a few climbs but overall it is a good balance for any intermediate rider. Tips: Bring a trail-worthy bike. Walmart bikes wont cut it as you will be taking your life in your own hands on some of the steeper descents as well in many of the dusty loose sand areas. Also bring water during hot days. Final tip, always carry an extra tube and/or patch kit unless you want to hike out with your bike in case of a flat. Be safe and have fun. Oh yeah, be considerate to slower trail users and horses. Did this ride last weekend and I couldn't have hope for a better first mountain biking experience. It was so much fun I can't wait to get out there again. It's given me a new way to love riding bikes. Courthouse parking is great on Sunday and it wasn't crowded. When you're out there be aware of some steep climbs but nothing to elevated. Of course, every climb is rewarded with a nice decent. From what I've been told about this trail is that it's a great beginners ride. Haven't done mountain biking as I only did rode cycling so I don't have any other rides to compare this one too. I'll be looking forward to doing ride again as well as others. read more

There is an area where there is some dirt jumps varying in size and not too entirely difficult and are not usually crowded with people. Hi, Did the loop first time yesterday solo. I arrived and got the bike ready, water etc. I had no idea where to start. I asked some other riders they directed and I was off. I did have a small paper map but it wasn't explicit enough and I got lost twice and had to backtrack in the first 3 miles. I finally saw a rider he let me follow him the rest of the way. Thanks a bunch Art. I would have been taking an uber back to my car without you. Great ride. Got me out of complacency and challenged my downhill chops. I cannot recommend enough you go with a person who knows the rout or just plan on getting lost and enjoying it. Everyone I met in the parking lot and on the trail was really nice. A great beginner trail for mountain biking! There are also some alternate trails here and there with a few mellow jumps easy enough for beginners looking to get a little air. You can make this as difficult or easy as you want. The 12 mile loop took me and my girlfriend (novices) 2 hours with many stops trying to figure out where we are supposed to be going. This trail is a short bike ride down the hill from me to get into the loop. I always start at the court house on Valley View and Harbor. Its located in the Ralphs parking lot. The trail is pretty good and doesnt get too crowded, but it can get busy. As a mountain bike ride its pretty fun with some uphills to get the lungs going and some down hills to get the heart beating. Its a smidge over 12 miles that will have you cris crossing some major streets a couple of times but its no biggy. As a run, I would be a little concerned about twisting an ankle however i am not an experianced trail runner at all. After some of the rain we have had the trails are a little rain rutted. This is a fun trail. read more

FDL "Fullerton Death Loop" is my weekday quicky trail ride to bust a sweat and spin the nobbies on dirt. I wouldn't consider this mountain biking but it's better then nothing, why 4 stars because it's accessible to me and it's 11 miles of training. After 2 years of 1-2 rides a week, I still love it, great for beginner to moderate mountain bikers. Several sections for tiny drops & jumps. There are several single track that parallel the big trail. You can climb technical ST along the fence line or stick to the fire road. There are several area for jumps and/or jump the drops and small area to practice steep descent. Near the dam area, you can head to the upper far left for high speed jumps or turn right after the golf tunnel exit and practice dirt jump. This place's got it all. I like to think it's a beginner bike park. It's not the trail it's how you ride it. However, I don't like the occasionally street crossing but..oh well it's my backyard. read more
