We have lived in LS for almost 4 years and just tried this place. Every time we drive by, it's packed! We now know why! If you remember bars and grills from the late 80s/early 90s, this place will bring you back. In my case, I loved it as it reminded me of my childhood. Let's face it. If you're going to Fun House Pizza, you're probably going for the pizza. I love the pizza and my wife likes the tacos. My kids are too young to really enjoy the games plus the kids rides are rough. No safety belts on the rides and I couldn't even find a high chair with a functioning safety belt. It's clear that they just don't care. Cleanliness and kids are afterthoughts even though they charge $10 for a small pizza and $3 for a Coke. The service: Not good but I don't think it's intentional. The staff just doesn't know any better which is more a sign of poor or nonexistent management. The process: Go in, place an order, serve yourself. The pickup counter is to the left of the order counter so you end up queuing up to place your order and blocking the pickup counter. After, you find a seat and wait for your food. They have the joint wired for sound so they blast order pickup information throughout. If you order 6 things, they will probably call your order number 6 times to get each item as it's made. There is a self-service stack of plates, peppers/cheese, forks, and styrofoam boxes on the counter. They don't have knives or give utensil others than forks. The overhead speakers are very annoying and on my visit, they were (over-)used to a ask employees to return to the kitchen, etc. The atmosphere: Tired. The owner is too cheap to change the outdoor sign so at first glance it looks like Pappi's Pizza since Fun House took over the old Pappi's Pizza building. The doors and floors are grimy and the vestibule at the entrance smells awful. The bathroom soap is hit or miss. The kids rides are filthy and either broken or missing safety mechanisms. Misc: Their website is woefully out of date. Menu items and prices are incorrect and the online coupons are expired. Their receipts and business cards all list their former and now incorrect street address. Again, signs that the owner cuts corners and lacks attention to detail. Makes me wonder where else he cuts corners... Three stars is generous considering it's based on food ONLY. If not for the food, it would get one star from me. It's sad because a small investment to clean and take care of the games and rides, train the staff, update their website/info, and hose down the interior would be so easy! Next time we will go to Chuck E Cheese where the food is crap but it's cleaner and the kids will enjoy it more. If I need somewhere to go with the guys it will be a straight up pub or Minsky's. read more

Ridiculous! Once in a while you stumble into a hole in a wall and find gold! This has got to be Lee's Summit very own local secret pizza joint. After my 3rd slice I was wondering if there's crack on the pizza. The crust was crunchy, the cheese was soft, the toppings looked like the chef was on crack, because there was a mountain of it. I also had, what they called, "party sticks" that came with a cup of garlic butter. Instant death in a cup, but after giving it a dip I was instantly ready for heaven. Forget them advertising from big franchise chains, it will just disappoint you after the first bite. I posted this on the Pappi's Pizza page, because this was Pappi's until recently. Here it is again. Formerly Pappi's, now a Funhouse. The pizza is fantastic, but they need to schedule more than TWO people on a Saturday, all day. Hopefully the new owner doesn't run the place into the ground like the last guy did when it was Pappi's. The 2 guys working were doing a really great job, taking everyone's orders, cooking the food, and also doing prep, but almost every table in the whole place had dirty dishes and trash on it, because there was no one to bus tables. Once they got the kitchen under control, one kid was able to come out & clear the tables,but I felt so bad for them both. When I asked, I was told it was just the 2 of them from open - 5:00pm. In spite of being overworked & understaffed, they made the pizza perfect! The crust was fluffy, but crisp on the bottom. Cheese & toppings were done thoroughly but not browned. I love love love the pizza here!! Dough is made fresh locally, sausage is proprietary in-house recipe, made from scratch on site, as is sauce. Cheese is a blend, and very good quality. Pizza is greasy, but it's pizza. So fresh, so good!! Buffet is gone (thank God, it was terrible!), lots of new games which take quarters, beer on tap, beautiful, huge dining rooms that can accommodate large groups. Much, much nicer space than any of the other Funhouse Pizza places. Major concern: the new owner needs to get his head out of his ass and put some more people on the schedule to handle the flow of customers. People won't come to a restaurant where there's not a clean place to sit down. Also, I had to ASK where the tip jar was. It was under the counter, because the owner had said he "doesn't like it" sitting where people can see it. WTF?? Maybe someone should pay HIM $8/hour for a while. Sheesh. I WILL be coming back. It great for kids party , but no ice cream cakes. You will need to clean up and get your food. That's what I think they should do. And pizza is okay. Needs to be hotter. I think they wait until all tge pizza was done so some where cold. And need to put more cheese on top. And no spatula you have to use a fork. I'm not impressed with it at all. But that's me. We were recently visiting the area and Fun House is one of my wife's favorite places for pizza. There are several locations in the area but only the Lee's Summit store allows inside seating right now. We had the Big Daddy for the adults and Hamburger and Cheese for the kids. I'm a huge pinball fanatic so a pleasant surprise to find a Fun House pinball machine. Everyone had a great time and the food and service were excellent. This isn't a fancy place so maybe don't plan on impressing a first date. If you like good food and friendly service this is the place for you. read more

At first I was nervous because of the bland exterior and the lack of cars in the parking lot but I was pleasantly surprised. It's the kind of local pizza place that I grew up with as a kid. Lots of decor and plenty of video games, this place would be amazing to watch sporting events or to entertain a a family with kids. As a long time Fun House go-er, the last few visits have been really disappointing, which is really sad because we love supporting small, local businesses. We were in a few months ago, the staff unfriendly, as always. Usually the killer pizza makes up for the rudimentary employees and dark, kid-filled, loud, dungeon of a restaurant. This time, it didn't. The pizza was extremely dense, and on top of that they got our order wrong. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe they had an off night. Last night we gave them another try and to our disappointment the pizza tasted the same. Dense, chewy, almost undercooked crust. I don't know if they're doing something different or changed the recipe, but this isn't the nostalgic pizza I remember, it's awful. read more

That's it, I am done with this place. I grew up with Pappi's Pizza and can remember riding the mechanical animals about the same time I learned to walk. I have always loved the pizza here. Which is why I wasn't too worried when Funhouse took over because I knew they used the same recipe and piled on the toppings the same as Pappi's. I have long since moved away from Lee's Summit but every time I come back for a visit, I always got a pizza from them. I have hosted parties and gatherings there and brought in more than my fair share of business with patrons who have ways tipped well. Well, my visit last week will (sadly) be my last. The flavor of the pizza has gone down. They have gotten stingy with the sauce (which is one of the qualities that made their pies unique). And they have started to nickel and dime their customers to the point of ridiculousness. Want to swap out a topping? Fine. But you are going to pay for the extra topping even tho it's a "swap". But the worst?.....they up charge for take out orders. THIS IS A PIZZA JOINT, RIGHT?!? What kind of pizza place up charges for people to take their orders TO GO? I'm sorry, but that's one of the dumbest things I've heard in weeks. And it's also the last straw for me. I'm sure you'll do fine. I've never wished ill-will towards any small business. And I know the small charge seems petty to some. But to me the principle of that charge carries a lot if weight with me And for the cost of two shiny quarters you've lost a life long fan and patron. Wow! What great pizza! We have been going to fun house for years and have always enjoyed it. We had gotten out of habit and have not visited for a while. Big mistake . Was great for our large group of 14 people. Plenty of room and the right environment for the adults and the kids. Pizza was excellent. Giant HELP WANTED sign on the outside of the building which explains the complaints of the reviewer before me. We were there on a Sunday about 5PM and the staff was adequate although some did appear to be new. Keep in mind that the owner is switching over to a store that is about 4 times bigger than the old one on Douglas. We felt that the pizza arrived in good time and the toppings were of excellent quality and quantity. This is the perfect location and look for a new Funhouse location. I look forward to many more fun visits. I hope some live music might be on the way. Good to see someone there who can actually fill Pappis old shoes. A Country Western band would be perfect :-) read more

The pizza is good....actually very good. $20 for a large pizza, but you do get a lot of toppings. The reason for the 2-star rating is that. It was soooo hot in the place, I don't think the air works AT ALL!! There is a sign on the door that says "no ice cream allowed"...that's probably because it would melt everywhere!! The other reason is I ordered the cheese garlic toast for $3.99. Here's what I got....a plate with two slices of white bread that was put under the broiler to melt some cheese on top. Seriously??? $2 per slice of sandwich bread??? I don't know about anything else on the menu, but that was ludicrous! read more

Pizza is good! We go there for kids bday parties or when we need to get a bunch of people together. The place is perfect for kiddos because they have little ponies and things to ride on, they also have an air hockey table for the bigger ones/adults. The owner is kind of rude (pretty sure it's the owner anyway).. Our order got switched with someone else's and he was pissed he had to make another pizza.. Like cussing and throwing shit pissed.. Sorry, we aren't going to take a pizza people were eating off of. It's your job and there are kids around.. I cuss a lot too, but don't be a restaurant owner if you're no good at customer service and having mix ups like that.. I get it, it's frustrating but Control yourself. They made us move from a table because they double-booked it so we had to move 14 little eleven year old boys while in the middle of eating and finish at home. The owner was horribly rude. I have been eating Funhouse since I was a kid and despite all the changes and the move from the old location, the pizza tastes the same as ever. The crust is so thick and taking that first bite really brings me back. Apparently the move was a good one for them -- the last time I was at the old location (about a year ago) my family was the only group in the whole restaurant, and last week when we ate here, the place was so busy and crowded we could barely find a spot to sit. I think there was some team party or get-together because the place was overrun with kids, and the screaming and shoving was something I could have done without. Obviously that's not the restaurant's fault, but they were in desperate need of more help. The tables weren't bussed, and combined with the team party, that made it even more difficult to find a spot. My family and I found the first table we could, and I was totally not cool with my five-year-old sister asking why there were so many beer bottles. It was a weekday and I feel like they were probably just not prepared for the number of people coming, but PLEASE do some more hiring! Otherwise the pizza speaks for itself. read more

My wife order pizza from funhouse never have any problems with ordering out. Today someone quoted 25 to 30 mins. It took nearly an hour for them to deliver. So my fiancé calls and speaks with the owner "Jim" and he was completely rude to her implying she was lying about the delivery time. We were not asking for any freebies although we should of asked for a discount for his rudeness. We will be going to other funhouse pizzas from now on. Went there with the family for lunch today around 11 am. The tv was on the history channel and turned up very loud even though no one was watching. I asked if they could turn it down, but they never did. Once we got our pizza, it came out with out a serving spatula. I asked if we could get one and was told they did not have any, just forks.
