We were recommended this place by a local as for some delicious seafood and they did not let us down. We had the lump crab grilled cheese that has some caramelized onions and seems to have a honey or syrup on it as well. It's sweet and savory, cooked great with a perfect crunch. The Cajun fries are delicious and not very hot. They do get spicier the longer you eat them but the heat is not bad in my opinion. I do like spicy stuff. Teh dipping sauce is delicious but you will prob want to ask for a extra sauce if you get the large fry. The pasta salad was so good. I know it does not sound that exciting but it could totally be a stand alone meal. It has some creamy sauce and balsamic vinegar and I don't know what else. I do not think you will be disappointed. My go to on a lazy Saturday. I absolutely LOVE their food! Seafood meets savory comfort food is the best way to describe it. I had Soul Shaker Shrimp. This SHOULD be named Soul Taker Shrimp! (Local) Beer battered shrimp fried tempura style. There were hidden bites of something sweet yet with a subtle spice (perhaps pepper jelly?). The shrimp come with gochujang sauce on the side which was a great pairing, but I honestly loved the shrimp without it. I also tried the Doobie Wrap later that day. It has marinated mushrooms, arugula, cabbage, avocado, goat cheese, pickled red onions, and funk sauce. These flavors all met to form happiness in my mouth. I don't even like mushrooms normally, but I ate them on this and LOVED every second of it! There is the option to add blackened fresh caught shrimp...I didn't and I find myself wondering do people who do make it a lunch and dinner kind of thing because I was satisfied and full on just half! They're a brick and mortar establishment in addition to being at Dogwood Brewery. I just want to say, I love good food trucks. In an alternate universe I want to own one. Anyway, getting back to the point... We went to the St. Patrick's day festival today and this is the food truck I chose. I wanted a really good sandwich and they provided. I chose the gourmet grilled cheese with provolone, mozzarella, bacon, avocado, and some kind of sweet sauce. They also gave me a side of homemade ranch. It was cooked perfectly. It took around 15 minutes to get, which was a little inconvenient hence the one star knock off and the sweet sauce was a little overpowering in my opinion, however it was overall amazing! Literally the best food I've eaten all week staying here at St Augustine. It's so good I went back again! Wish they had a location in New York Best fish tacos, hands down. What a fun truck! First of all it's absolutely beautiful. Amazingly painted and colorful truck. The owners/operators are so kind and easy to work with. They show up on time, and serve delicious and hot food prepared by order. I opted for their OG burger (because I was feeling OG obviously) and was a billion percent not disappointed. FUNKADELIC is a top 3 food truck in the city. They are always being hired to do weddings and other catering opportunities and for good reason. The menu is a perfect size with usually options of a hamburger - a funkadelic awesome hamburger, shrimp sliders, some type of fish, a gourmet grilled cheese, and a sausage sandwich. Of course none of these are run of the mill as Funkadelic has their spin on everything. My shrimp grilled cheese had panko breaded shrimp, provolone, mozarella, goat cheese, and pepper jelly! Are you kidding me? This sandwich is freaking awesome! It's perfectly grilled and the Cajun fries I ordered were perfectly done and seasoned. These guys pay attention to every little detail and they are probably THE most consistent food truck in Jax. I didn't order the beet fries today but I highly recommend them. Again, the Funkadelic spin of roasted beets served with funk sauce. I order these 90% of the time but decided to try the cajuns today. Either way, no way to be disappointed. Good burgers! Good fish tacos! Good Fries! My first exposure was the OG Burger - fantastic! Along with the fries and their special ketchup it was amazing combination. My wife had the fish tacos - well she had one of the two fish tacos - I GOT THE OTHER ONE! I've also had the Freddy Grill Cheese. They don't have fountain drinks - canned drinks only, but they do NOT gouge you on the price. I think they were a dollar. The atmosphere is PERFECT as they are located at Marina Munch, nothing like eating by the water. One day we even saw a shark's dorsal and tail fin during high tide about a hundred feet from where we were eating. We have eaten there at Marina Munch several times and all but one time I ate here. read more

After checking out every food truck at the Jax Beach Oktoberfest, I chose Funkadelic Food Truck because a Lump Crab Grilled Cheese sounded too good to pass up. And oh my goodness that sandwich was AMAZING! Actual lump crab (and lots of it in chunks) smothered in multiple cheeses, and complimented with cooked onions and a sweet jelly is an incredible combination. The jelly really made it top notch. The Funkadelic crew was friendly and efficient despite the madness of Oktoberfest and our food came out pretty quick. Yes it was $15 for a grilled cheese, but lump crab is expensive, and you could split this sandwich with 2 people if you really wanted to (granted I had no intentions of sharing). When I see them at another event I will be certain to try something on their menu! read more

These guys turn out really fantastic food and a warm, personable level of service. I'm a lazy creature of habit and almost always go for the Shrimp Sliders with a side of Cajun Fries. Today I went for my beloved Sliders, but opted to try the beet fries (I've not seen them before on the menu). Shrimp Sliders: you receive 3 perfectly mouth sized morsels on a Hawaiian roll. Panko covered shrimp (giving a lighter bite) drizzled with with a funk sauce, on a bed of Sriracha coleslaw and avocado, perched atop apple-wood bacon. There's not one single thing wrong with this combo. The cajun fries are simply their decent regular fries in a jazzy dusting and are a good accompaniment to your meal either way. The Beet Fries are chunky cubes of beet goodness, possibly dusted in flour before frying, cooked long enough to seer but not enough for the beet to break down and they still retain a hint of pickled beet taste. The accompanying (funky?) sauce is ranchy and zingy and more'ish. Everyone at work swears by their burgers and their gourmet Grilled Cheese. All hail the funk! Funkadelic has been finally crossed off my bucket list. My girlfriend has been raving about the Shrimp Sliders for months now and OMG, these sliders are funkin' delicious! Each component is carefully crafted to sheer perfection. First off, we have local Mayport Shrimp fried in Panko breadcrumbs. Crisp breading, while the shrimp still have a bite. Definitely NOT overcooked, which tends to be one of my pet peeves. Salty bacon and creamy avocado don't hurt the cause, either! There's more. The Sriracha Slaw provides what I like to call the Pow Factor. It's spicy, alright! Then the Funk Sauce comes into play. I think God himself created this culinary masterpiece, because I couldn't get enough of the stuff! And these precious shrimp bites are loaded between sweet Hawaiian Rolls. The bread is soft enough to soak up the sauce, but substantial enough to hold it all together. Five stars all the way for this incredibly mouth-watering food truck! read more

In a sea of food trucks that come to my office parking lot. There are few I look out for and Funkadelic is one of them. This truck pumps out restaurant quality food with good service. My favorite items are the Shrimp sliders and the Burger with everything. The shrimp sliders are a hit with me. Really delicious. Three sliders feature panko breaded shrimp with coleslaw sandwiched between two sweet Hawaiian buns. These are a bit small and with fries and will set you back round about $10. What it lacks in size it makes up in flavor/taste because this combination works beautifully to create sweet and spicy bite that leaves you wanting more. The burger with Egg, bacon and Avocado is a good choice. Everyone adds eggs to burgers nowadays and I have gotten used to that so I appreciate the option. Funkadelic's execution of this burger is great which results in a great fresh tasting burger which is definitely not lacking flavor. All in all, not just a fancy eye-catching truck they actually make good food too. read more

We love food trucks, but this left us unimpressed. We ordered the pork belly sandwich and Cajun fries. The Cajun fries were delicious. However the sandwich was taken a few bites of and we stopped eating. Usually with pork belly it should melt in your mouth. This was like eating a raw piece of bacon that somehow was warmed up, but not cooked. My husband and I aren't particularly picky, but after a few bites we didn't want to eat anymore. I would try something else at this truck, but I would not recommend the pork belly sandwich. read more

I finally got to try them at the Best Bet Food Truck Rally with their Pork Belly Sandwich and I was instantly hooked. This time around I needed lunch and thanks to Jax Truckies, I found them nearby. No Pork Belly Sandwich this time around. I decided on their Fresh Seared Salmon Burger that you can get grilled or blackened, with sriracha slaw, fresh papaya, funk sauce (delicious mystery sauce), and avocado. And just because I can, I added bacon. It was magical! I felt the need for a side dish to round out this burger so I also ordered the Pesto Pasta Salad, with is wheat pasta (maybe? I didn't ask), funk sauce again, green onion, and some cherry tomatoes. This funk sauce was a little more spicier than my burger but I loved how it warmed my innards. Go try their food! read more

Funkadelic is definitely all about funky and bold flavors when it comes to putting together their menu. This is what street food is all about. Taking something normal and putting some flare to it. I had a chance to eat some Funkadelic at P's & Q's VW Car Event. There were a couple of food trucks in attendance. Looking through all the menus, Funkadelic intrigued me with their Sausage Dog. This lovely creation is an Azar Sausage topped with applewood bacon, caramelized onions, chive & black pepper cream cheese. To me, while eating, it felt like a sausage sandwich.. But it doesn't matter the dog was damn good. Meaning it was a damn good dog! Just flavor on top of flavor on top of flavor. The creaminess of the cream cheese, the saltiness from the bacon went well with that crunchiness you get when you bite into a sausage cooked well. Then once you bite it those sausage juices flow. Damn I am getting hungry just thinking about it. I have seen this item on their menu a couple of times. So you def. have to try it. Their whole menu is really intriguing. Everything is not what it seems. A burger is not just a burger. Home fries are not just home fries, b/c they are Beet home fries. Something I will have to try next time. This is a great place with awesome food. I have to say this is the best burger i have had in a long time. I also had a sticky rice bowl with blackened mahi which is healthy and taste great. This is one of my favs since moving down to the area. They have a veggie taco but for the most part this place does not have many veggie options. It would help if they had gf taco shells/wraps since most tacos are made from corn. Other than that i think this place is great and its in my top 5, i just wish it was open more days. read more

My new favorite food is here! I love Funkadelic's Octopus sticky bowl. I lived on Oahu for years and I think this is better than any I had on the islands. I am proud to have this food truck in St. Augustine. My husband and I take friends and visitors here for great food but casual dining. (Really casual: I took my puppy and we had an amazing lunch!) The service is great. Menu is great. As we were leaving, another customer stopped at the truck and told the chef that Funkadelic serves the best burger he's ever had. (The hubs had it the last time we went and he agrees.)
