A total shithole! $54 for 2 drinks. Disgusting bartender. Band was great! Would never come back

Mo S.

This place was a vibe! Out of all of the hustle and bustle on Bourbon Street, we stumbled upon this place. They were playing R&B and had a live band! I hate that I forgot the name of the band but they were fabulous. It was a Wednesday night and they put on a show! We sang and danced for hours! I don't think the band was local, but they were in the right place at the right time.

Another live entertainment venue , which most of them seem to be. This is one of the better ones for live music as well music in general when there is no live band. Decent open space , good for dancing , drinks are not bad tend to stick with beer since easier. One of the better places on the strip for listening to music & dancing.

Balcony view on NYE about 45 minutes before midnight

Was charged a cover charge to get on the balcony for New Years Eve, $5 per person and there was a total of 14 people with my group. Few minutes after entering, a manager approached me and asked why I gave the bouncer $5, informed her that it was a cover charge and that we all paid. Manager then told me that the cover charge hasn't started yet and would get our money back. Apparently the bouncer had given the money away, the manager came back and apologized for the situation and comped us our first round of drinks. CJ on the Balcony Bar was awesome! She kept the drinks coming while jamming out to the songs playing. Definitely do recommend coming here for all events!

Great place! The band they had tonight was amazing- lots of entertainment, fun, upbeat songs. Really good drinks. Just an overall fun environment to be in.

You can't come to Bourbon street with expectations that anything would be clean and classy, this isn't Vegas.

The bar downstairs serves BYOB alcohol and considering how many people there were at the bar I was really amazed how they were able to keep track of everybody's alcohol! I would definitely go back if I'm in the area!

Adult review…read more.... I've been an active swinger since I turned eighteen. My eighteenth birthday party started at an all nude strip club, I even danced that night and got a job there, then to swingers club. That night was epic and forever burned into my brain as a great birthday. I attended this club with a couple I met in New Orleans on Swingers Date Club. (SDC). It's a private club and there is always some paperwork and fees involved. My dates handled most of this. I really enjoyed the layout and the atmosphere was highly sexual and festive. Everyone was having a great time. It was byob so if you go, take your own alcohol. Mixers like soda etc were provided. We spent the evening getting to know one another in-between playtime. Playtime I really enjoyed. As did my beautiful wife. I wish I could go into more detail but Yelp is a PG rated forum. Needless to say, I had my fair share of men and women that night. I highly recommend this lifestyle club. I walked there from my hotel in ten minutes. It was much harder to walk home. Lololol

I've never been here, so sorry if I trample some etiquette or whatever, but this was my experience…read moreat the rabbit hole. I bought some presale tickets to a show here for $20. When I arrived, our IDs were checked and then we were let in. AFTER we were let in, two people let us know there was a 10 dollar cover. Whatever. I already paid for the show so am I really just gonna leave there? I ask to pay with card, and am told there's tax on it. Sure. I get it. Electronic payments are all catalogued so it makes sense there's tax. However, I see the itemized bill as it's being brought up. It says "$11 cover". There's a separate line for the tax under it, but I was definitely charged 11 for a cover PLUS tax after that. I ask the workers if there's a mistake, and they say it's the tax. I point out that the tax is below that, and then they say something along the lines of "you're acting like we want to rob you, I don't get any money out of this." The place to insert my card is then pulled away from me as I am removing my card from it to pay, and am told "You don't have to pay for it if you don't want". As I already paid, I point it out and I am offered a refund. At this point, I just want this to be over and I enter the courtyard, down $44 dollars for a show I thought would only be $20. As I enter, I hear them yell "douche" over and over at me. This sort of soured the night for me and we left soon after that. If you're a regular here then I'm sure you enjoy it, but it is not for new people and it is definitely not a welcoming environment. The food smelled good at least.

I checked out Beach on Bourbon, and honestly... it was just okay…read more The biggest downside was definitely the drinks--they're pretty overpriced, and they don't put much liquor in them, so they don't really hit like you'd expect for what you're paying. It felt more like you're paying for the location than the quality. The vibe is hit or miss. Sometimes they play really good music, and when they do, it's fun--especially since it's packed with college kids and has that typical Bourbon Street energy. But other times it just doesn't stand out much compared to other spots nearby. Overall, it's not terrible, but it's definitely not the best place on Bourbon. I'd say it's worth stopping by once, but I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

The first night someone threw up a massive amount of yuck all over the floor. Literally no one came to clean it up. Waa here for like 15 minutes and left after that. Second night I only went here to meet up with my sons who were there. Was literally at this jenky place for around 20 minutes total and had my wallet snatched right out of my purse that was held close, directly under my arm the entire time. Owners could care LESS about any of this. Police said this happens way too often at this bar. STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

It was 2 p.m. afterall, so not a lot of people were out in general. Turns out the band was great! Then people started trickling in and there was a good crowd enjoying the music with us. We had a great time, chatted with other patrons and a few of the band members. Good drinks, prices are on the higher end at ~$15, but still affordable. I had a Pimm's cup which was refreshing, they are served in souvenir to go cups that are really cute. Glad we decided to stay! A great time was had.

Before I start, this is my review based on my experience. I've noticed some people complain about…read morethe music, paying the cover charge, seating or the size of the venue. I'm not here to argue any of those points. I will say this: expecting live musicians to perform for free until you decide whether they're worth paying is ridiculous. The cover is usually only $5...$10 max. If that's a dealbreaker, this probably isn't your place. Stay home and stream Spotify. Now... I have some friends in town, and whenever that happens, a Monday night trip to the Spotted Cat is basically mandatory. I've been coming here for years and years. Yes, it's super touristy now, but it still gives me the warm fuzzies every time I walk through those doors. So I'm presenting the "compliment sandwich" review. Never heard of it? You start with a compliment, slip in some constructive-ish criticism, then end with another compliment. Supposedly people receive feedback better that way. Let's see. First, the music. Outstanding. Chris Christy wasn't what I thought I wanted to hear until I actually heard him. I felt completely transported. Man, can that guy play the guitar. It felt kinda like gypsy music. Then came the Frenchmen Street Allstars. The last time I saw them, they had a different lead singer and, honestly, they kind of felt like a completely different band, aside from the phenomenal drummer. This version did not disappoint. It was a great mix of jazz and New Orleans standards. Both bands were great! **Now a note to management.** Great music isn't enough. The bar should be every bit as memorable as the stage. Forgive me, I didn't get the bartenders' names, so I have to describe them by physical traits. The first bartender, the guy with the mountain of curly hair, was friendly enough and made decent drinks. Later, another bartender with a short haircut took over and made the best drinks of the night. Then there was the bartender with the black and hot pink hair. She looked like she'd rather be anywhere else. She rarely smiled, her demeanor felt unwelcoming, and it almost came across as hostile. On top of that, the drinks she made were so weak I genuinely wondered if there was any alcohol in them. Seriously. They were that bad. Here's my philosophy: if you're going to be grumpy, aloof, or have some other off-putting trait, you'd better make a mean drink. Years and years ago there was a bartender named Curtis who wasn't exactly sunshine and rainbows, but that man could make a cocktail. I didn't need him to smile because the drink did all the talking. If the drink is mostly soda, though, friendliness becomes a lot more important. Unfriendly and bad bartending is a double whammy. She must be somebody's child or partner because I can't think of any other reason to employ a bad bartender. I hate to belabor the point, but the drinks aren't cheap. Cheap and bad I can take. For another comparison, there's another bartender there, I'm pretty sure her name is Chris. She's been there for years. She's all business. Maybe a little surly. Who am I kidding? A lot surly. But she's a character. More importantly, she makes a great drink. That's the kind of personality that somehow fits the Spotted Cat perfectly. Now let me end with the final piece of "bread" on my compliment sandwich. The doorman deserves his own review. That gravelly-voiced "Welcome to the Spotted Cat!" is part of the experience. Then he absolutely hammers that stamp onto your wrist. Somehow you don't even mind because you know what's waiting on the other side: incredible music, a fun room, and one of the best nights you can have on Frenchmen Street. Just don't let the bartender with the pink and black hair make your drink.
