Packaging is very careful as well. Our favorites: Dim Sum Bento Box - we order two of these so each of us can have our own. Great mix of items that we would normally order a la carte. Turnip Cake w. Egg - love the texture and amount of egg + hoisin Lo Mai Gai - super tasty, good amount of filling Pork Belly Bun - small but a good size to me. I don't like when they're all bun Congee - on the more bland side but still comforting XLB Soup Dumpling - doesn't transport well. Not as thin skin as I like, and not much soup either. I always order from here when I'm passing through Irvine! My favorites are the har gow, chinese chive dumpling and shrimp ball. The har gow and chinese chive dumpling are consistently great, but the shrimp ball today was incredibly salty. I went to Furiwa Saturday for lunch with my son. We didn't realize until the server told us that it was literally a to go only. So this review is for food only. I no loved the vegetable dumplings. It was so much better than din tai fungs veggie dumplings. It was moist and tasty not dry like dtf. Garlic noodles was garlicky and buttery. Sesame seed balls was hot, crunchy outside, chewy inside and properly filled. Most dim sum places usually has very little filling. My son had the spicy cucumber, bbq pork flat noodles and spicy pork dumplings. He really enjoyed all three and made the comment that he plans in returning soon to try other dishes. I have ordered dim sum from this place at least 4 times before. They were of average quality but certainly edible. Today however has been a great disappointment. The Har Gow and Rice Paper with shrimps did not contain shrimp at all. Prawns were substituted. This was the first time I found prawns in place of shrimp rendering the items tasteless with a strange texture. The sticky rice with lotus leaves also lacks the taste. So disappointing. read more

Placed a pickup order for solely Turnip Cake. I cannot judge anything else about service, ambience, or other food. Turnip cake was gummy and daikon was in large pieces, not chopped finely. Satisfied the craving for dim sum after not having dim sum for a year+ (oh, covid... so glad to be venturing out for take out again). For a little car picnic, my friend and I got the standards (Har gow, shu mai, shrimp rolls) and some extras - pork belly rolls, and turnip cakes. Good quality. My 5 star goes to Yank Sing - Rincon (SF). Next day- warmed up in rice cooker (steam function) and the turnip cakes in cast iron with bacon fat - Nice crisp edges! I am not a huge turnip cake fan, but my friend said they were the best she ever had in her life! So bacon fat and letting the edges crisp is key in the re-heat. read more

We've eaten here many times. My problem with this place is that on multiple occasions we have received undercooked footballs and undercooked sesame balls. We end up having to throw those entire orders away, which is a waste of money, as well as food. I wish they would just be a little more patient and fully cook those items. Best DIM SUM in the OC! I ordered the Shu Mai Flight, Lo Mai Gai, Football, Chinese Chive Dumpling and Vegetable Gow. My order was ready for pick-up at the correct time, well packed. I truly love Dim Sum and my high expectations based upon the pictures were NOT disappointed!! I will happily order and pick up again soon - probably when I need my fix next week. Excellent DimSum at 9pm! I was going to order food from another Chinese restaurant but the time on Yelp was incorrect so they had closed. I did a search and found Furiwa. I am extremely happy I did since I really loved their dimsum! I thought the baos were tasty and everything had a fresh taste to it. I ordered the couple dimsum combo and I really enjoyed everything. The sticky wings left something to be desired but given the sauce was seperate due to the order being togo it tasted better after I had poured it in the wings and let it marinate for a bit. The garlic noodles, shu mai, lo mai gai, and hargow were also very good. It was a little pricey but it's dimsum served all day until 10pm, so I'm good with that. I can't wait to go back and get some more and next time I'll try the duck! read more

Wow I've been so excited for this place because it looked really good . Prices are super high in comparison to all other dim sum places . But I figured it must pay for in quality .. WRONG ! This place is so stingy beyond measure . We ordered my favorite : shrimp noodle wrap . Usually regular dim sum places have 2-3 shrimp per wrap . Here they literally gave one ! ONE LOL ! I could not believe it . The sauce was watered down too . The hargow (shrimp dumpling ) was okay - I actually even prefer Sam woo. The place is was little bit hard to find on GPS, you have to walk to the restaurant. They have a machine that will help you to get out of the parking lot. So you don't have to pay for it. It is really nice for them to offer that. Dim sum was really good, I had the rice rolls with pork belly. The pork is nice and chewy, a little bit of fat that can bring out the flavors and the taste. My second choice was the Lo Mai Gai. The rice was not too sticky that's the good part. The best part it would be Chinese sausage. It make me feel like I was back in China again. The last choice that I ordered was the football. Is not the football you see in the game, is a small size that looks like a football. FYI, If you order it online and need utensils with your order, you have to add the utensils as an item to your order. Har Gow: overall good, skin was nice and chewy, good thickness Rice roll with pork belly: not much pork belly, too much skin. Proportion was off pork belly bun: this one hits the spot. Authentic, sweet filling chicken feet: yum! These are awesome, big fat juicy chicken feet. Generous portion turnip cake: you can actually taste chunks of turnip cake, depending of preference if you like that or not. Personally, I do. shrimp wonton: excellent, crisp shell, did not get soggy at all from takeout peach bun: I would skip these. The filling is all crammed on the top of the "peach ", bottom is mouthful of bun only. I was also expecting more from the custard-- taste and texture of egg yolk just wasn't authentic for me.. not much yolk flavor and it tasted coconut-y for some reason? Ordering was super easy. They offer a limited selection of Dim Sum. Some items (Har Gow and Shui Mei) come in quantities of 8 pieces. So if you want to try a variety, I would recommend ordering one of their family meals. They use good quality ingredients for their Dim Sum and the skin is not too gluten or thick, it's just perfect. The baos are good quality. The football mochi outer layer is delish though the inside is a bit skimpy. Overall, a great place to get your Dim Sum fix easily. I would have given 5 stars, but most of our Dim Sum was room temperature. Only the Football and the congee was hot. They use great quality materials on their food, you can tell. Haven't actually done in so couldn't really tell if the 43 min drive made food taste a bit worse than they should be. But if you eat them you can tell the ingredients they use are high quality. This is pretty important for that the pricing isn't cheap. I think it is more of mid-high range. Good dim sum not too salty pretty not authentic though they ve got dishes like tripe and chicken feet and jelly fish salad which are good . Recently Ordered some to go. The Siu Mai was okay. (11.75 for 8) We also ordered rice rolls ($10.50 for 6 rolls) Har Gow (12.95 for 8) Rice Roll with Shrimp ($12.50 for 6) Soup Dumpling ($10.50 for 6) Pork Belly Bun (Bao $10.95 for 6) The pork belly was the best thing.. it was piping hot and fluffy. But sadly... everything else was just okay. Siu Mai was small compared to competitors and tasted okay (abit dry) My kids love Rice rolls with or without shrimp.. they usually finish this off, but on this occasion they only ate what they were given and said something tasted different. The worst of my experience was the Soup Dumpling... the dumpling had no soup. I was on the fence of whether to give this 2 stars. Just because it was in my limited opinion pricey but the quality just wasn't their. Well.. I hope others have a better experience. My wife said she won't come back here.. it was wah wahhh wahhhh... Pretty good dimsum but expensive. Would have given more stars but they can't seem to get their s$&T together on timing orders properly, even after over a year of being in service. Like some others have said, service is not great. No apology or anything for having our order more than 1/2 hour later than pickup time. Meh I've been craving dimsum and found that Furiwa Togo is the closest place for me to pick up Togo dimsum so I decided to give it a try even though it was more expensive than most other dimsum places I've been to. 1) The Food: We got the Dim sum Signature Platter and it looks exactly like the picture on their online ordering page. I gotta say.. wasn't really a fan of this place Here's what I thought of each item from good to bad: Hargow: probably my fav out of the bunch. It was a good size with a yummy shrimp filling and the wrapper had a good texture to it BBQ pork bun: it was ok. Kinda smaller than the ones I'm used to. Sticky rice: thought it would have some sort of filling but it's pretty much just a ball of rice that has light salt seasoning.. not bad but not what I was expecting? Shu Mai: this is usually one of my fav things at dimsum but I didn't really like the ones here. It didn't have as much of the juicy pork umami shu Mai flavor.. it was more.. sweet? I personally did not like that Chinese chive dumplings: really didn't like these .. it had an overpowering chive flavor and I couldn't taste much else. Definitely wasn't sure what the other things in it was until I looked into the dumpling to see what was in it (it has shrimp of you're curious) If you're into chives maybe you'll like these. Chilli oil: ehh it's pretty mildly flavored and not really spicy at all.. 2) The Service Meh. Stood at the door which is blocked with a table for customers to do pick ups at for a good 5-10 mins or so shouting "excuse me" into the empty/dark dining hall while we heard laughs/ voices in a different room. Tried to give them a call with their phone number on Yelp and I heard it ringing inside but no one picked up. Twice. Eventually saw someone doing clean up across the room and flagged them down who signaled at someone in the other room and someone came finally came to help us. Felt frustrated because the costs are fairly high and for that I feel like we should get better service than that.. might be good to put a bell there for customers to ring if you can't be at the door at all times. 3) The Location This restaurant is a take out only restaurant located inside another restaurant which is hidden amongst the Google buildings. Kind of frustrating to try to locate. You can park inside the structure marked for restaurants and it says $1.50 for every 15mins but I think they can validate for parking. I forgot to ask bc I was annoyed for having to wait and hungry but luckily the gate to exit was up. I love dimsum.. but not this place. I paid nearly $50 for a very disappointing meal for 2 people where I only really liked one item with frustrating service/location. I'd only come back for hargow if I was short on time and couldn't go anywhere further. read more

XLB soup dumplings: very large and flavorless Shu Mai with quail egg: too large, not fresh tasting and flavorless Fried Shu Mai: rubbery and tasteless Cream cheese wontons: the sauce tasted fishy and old (moldy) House chili noodles: blah- nothing I would order again. Great dim sum to go! It's on par with dim sum from more Chinese populated areas (such as New York, SF, 626, etc) that OC is missing! A little on the pricey side, especially for to go, but definitely gives big portions. Their sui mai is amazing, lotus rice was good, beef tendon, but their winner to me, is their Peking duck for half $28 dollars. Well worth it, cut perfectly and gives you the leftover duck with garlic green onion sprinkled on top for an authentic Chinese lunch or dinner. read more

There were some standouts that have left me with very fond memories of the meal. Nothing was bad, though there were some items that weren't as exciting. -- Yang chow fried rice: excellent flavor, lots of shrimp. Would definitely get again. -- House special fish fillet: probably lost a touch of crispiness but we didn't care because it was so flavorful and delicious! It is my to-go dim sum takeouts ever since I found this gem. True that foods are priced above many dim sum locations, but for a good reason. I believe they use a lot less MSG (if they ever use it). If you are used to eating food with a lot of MSG, then you may find the food less flavorful. If you are sensitive to MSG like I am, or a foodie looking for quality dim sum made with fresh ingredients, this is the place for you. The bento box, though it is a small portion, is a good place to start as you get to enjoy their signature items in one box. My personal favorite is sticky rice (included in the box) and football (not included). I would go for rice flour dumplings than to order xiao long pao...simply because you have Din Tai Fung not too far away. Going to the store is a bit tricky - you can park in the parking structure. The restaurant is named differently but there is only one restaurant in the structure so be confident when you walk. They will validate you when you pick your food up. read more
