Horrible. I ordered a whole duck for $86 and this is what I get with a small box of bones and "meat" which was supposed to be the rest of the duck. But was that supposed to be the skinniest, most underfed duck they could find? Or were they keeping the good pieces for their dine-in customer? The location is pretty hidden. It's located in the Twenty Eight Restaurant. It only offers food to go like the name suggests. The food was pretty tasty. I ordered the Shu Mai, Shrimp Rice Noodles and the Turnip Cakes. The turnip cakes could have been pan fried a bit more. There wasn't enough crisp on the outside. The Shu Mai and rice noodles were on point. The price was on the higher/expensive side. My bill was $30+ but I don't mind paying for good food. When we got our food, they forgot the utensils which we thought was super odd and inconvenient. My friend got a Dr. Pepper and there was no fuzz and it looks completely watered down. I thought he got an iced tea when it was brought out. I asked for a glass of water and they said they couldn't give me one. I thought that was a bit weird too. I requested a soy sauce, and they provided one packet. A single tiny packet of soy sauce. Come on guys. For the price your charging, at least give some utensils and extra soy sauce. UPDATE: I was contacted by the management and they explained to me it was a new employee who gave us the food and didn't know she could give us a cup of water. I love that they have a dim sum sampler plate here. I have it at least once a month. It has all my favorites in it so I have no complaints. Location: It's located on the Google campus inside another restaurant named Twenty-Eight so it can be a bit tricky to find. Unfortunately, there's nowhere to pull up next to the restaurant for curbside pickup so you will have to park in the parking structure, then walk across the campus to the restaurant. It's a short one-minute walk so nothing too bad! Parking is free for the first 15 minutes but the restaurant will also validate your parking ticket too if needed. Food: Har Gow: Overall good and tastes as expected. Chicken Shu Mai: If you don't like pork, this could be a good option. It just wasn't memorable for me and a little on the greasy side. The bento box: This is a great option if you want some variety and a good portion for lunch so you don't feel too sluggish afterward. I like that it comes with sticky rice and a pork bun, both were delicious. There are not too many dim sum places in Irvine. Amazing takeout only place out of Twenty Eight restaurant! I prefer Furiwa to go to Din Tai Fung for dim sum. I always get the bento box and egg buns but recently tried the congee and turnip cakes. Everything is delicious!!! The dim sum is cooked well- the dough is not too raw or chewy as dumpling dough can be. The egg tarts are also the perfect ratio of egg yolk to bun and not super sweet but just sweet enough (yum!) Ordered to go at 5:30pm on a Sunday evening through Yelp/GrubHub. I picked up the order and brought it home to eat. Everything tasted great and I was feeling lucky to find a great new place nearby where I live until I felt something crunch inside one of the shumai. I figured it was an eggshell and didn't think twice so I continued to chew. After a couple more chews I felt another crunch. This time I spit out my food and saw it was a piece of broken glass! I've never experienced anything like this before. In fact, I've never written a negative review on Yelp before today. I tried calling the restaurant but kept getting kicked over to voicemail. I really wanted to like this place, but it fell short. I don't mind paying a premium price if what I'm getting is worth that price and I'm not sure if this made the cut. I will say I enjoyed the shui mai and lo mai gai. The chicken feet was so so, the turnip cake wasn't bad but a bit too oily, the egg yolk bun was fine but not worth the price for what it was, and the shrimp rice roll was underwhelming... However, most items were below average in my opinion. 4.5/5 - Shiu Mai The most impressive part of everything we ate. Could compare it to seafood cove's level of flavor and size. 4/5 - Garlic Noodles Standard garlic noodles in my opinion 3/5 - Chive dumpling Nothing special, nothing to complain about 3/5 - Pork Buns. Nothing to complain about, but tastes like your average asian bakery bun. 3/5 - XLB Definitely not enough soup (i didn't taste any?) so wouldn't even categorize it as a soup dumpling. It was just filling and skin, but the size was nice and the flavors were not bad. 1.5/5 - Har Gao. The skin was wayyyy too thick and unpleasant to eat, which was really sad since this is my favorite part of dim sum. 0.5/5 - Sticky Chicken Wings. Nikki, the manager reached out to me to make things right and the thing that I most appreciate as a customer is she also let me know that she debriefed the kitchen staff about the quality issue with the shrimp wontons and that they were all re-trained to make the dish right. The other dishes that I reordered are just as good as the last few times and I may have found a new favorite- their green vegetable dumplings served with their chili oil sauce is divine. I admit, I had my doubts picking these over the chive dumplings because I like a bit of protein in everything but no regrets here! Loved this place! Irvine has limited choices when it comes to dim sum. My first impressions of this was "bougie dim sum" but after we had it the flavors are fairly authentic. Order online and you get a window for pickup time. You can drive up and park upfront of the restaurant for pick up. Shu Mai Flight - Recommended. It comes with 8 pieces. 2 shu mai, 2 shu mai with quail eggs, 2 shu mai with lobster, and 2 chicken shu mai. Each shu mai is a good size with thin wrap, and filling. XLB Soup Dumpling - Not recommended. Our order came with 3 white xlb, and 3 green xlb. On their menu, it doesn't specify what the differences are. While the white xlb tasted normal, but didn't have a lot soup inside. The green xlb was gross. I wasn't sure what kinda meat was in there, I suspect it's fish, because it was very mushy and not firm. At first I thought it was not cooked through. Chili Shrimp Wontons- This is okay. The sauce was decent, but not very strong. Turnip cake with eggs- Not recommend. It is very bland. I preferred turnip cakes with dried shrimp and Chinese bacon in them, but these didn't have any. Garlic Noodles- This is also just okay. Again bland, and not very garlicky. Egg tart- Recommended. Fully redeemed! Full disclosure: I got an email from the restaurant after my review and they apologized for the food that wasn't good and offered 20 dollars to visit for next time. I finally took them up on their offer. I honestly would have already been impressed even if they just apologized it wasn't good even without the coupon. First time ordering but got our traditional Chinese Chrustmas dinner here based off of the review. We got the dinsum platter, Peiking Duck, Garlic Noodles and Walnut Shrimp. Everything we got was delcisious but some of the stand outs. Spare meat off the Peiking Duck being deliciously seasoned. This is the first time we enjoyed the spare meat just as much as the prized sliced meat. Not too oily and very well seasoned. Also great touch where a big hole was cut on top of the take out container to prevent over steaming in transit. Skin on the dinsum where all perfect thickness where you got the texture but thing enough that it wasnt too chewy upon reheating the next day. There are the typical dishes served at every dim sum restaurant as well as ones with a modern twist. I had to order the Dim Sum Signature Platter to feed 4 and supplemented with some other dishes: House chili noodles, Lo Mai Gai, Chinese broccoli for a vegetable dish, Rice Roll with Shrimp, Football, and Egg Tart. It would take 20 minutes about the time that I would need to drive over to the restaurant. We parked in the structure on the level that we entered in the designated restaurant parking spaces. Remember to bring in the parking ticket to get it validated. They were packing the last item. Payment is no contact. While we were waiting on our last item, we inserted the parking ticket into the machine to get it validated. The worker with face mask and gloves on brought out our platter and bag of food. The food item I enjoyed the most was the football. It had a crispy shell and is a blend of sweet and salty. We liked the variety of the platter. It really is only one shrimp in the rice roll. The texture of the rice roll is good. The gai lan had a bit too much fiber requiring extra chewing for me, but perfect for my husband. The house chili noodles had heat to them. The egg tarts were just a little bigger than bite size not as big as you could get in Chinatown, but if you are eating other items they are the right size because you won't get full on them.
