I love this place! A friend took me here and I'll definitely be returning whenever I'm in the area. The restaurant is actually pretty small and doesn't fit that many people, but that doesn't take away from how great this place is. The cocktails were great (definitely recommend the Dreaming of You), and the food was even better. I'm in love with the lettuce wraps and I wish they gave more than just 3! For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and the shoestring fries. The calamari was a little salty, but still delicious. I got a chicken hibachi. At first glance, it doesn't seem like a lot, but it was filling. My friends ordered the pork bone ramen with a spice bomb, ramen burger, and pork belly steam buns. My first update for Furoshiki. I am saddened to drop them a star. I've been a fan since the beginning and have even overlooked the fact that they do not offer any condiments. But my last few visits have come short of satisfying. Pork Bone Ramen - I love ramen anyway it's done. Even Furoshiki's fusion style. The pork cutlet served with it has..changed. Maybe I just had an off day, but normally the meat stays atop the noodles still crispy and sizzling. This is my favorite part. I would enjoy a few pieces first and then go back and forth between submerging them in the broth and bring them back up with some noodles and single picking again. This time the texture and taste was as if they were already submerged. The broth was shockingly bland compared to ones I've had here in the past. If I had sriracha or soy sauce, I would've been ok. The spice bomb should not be the only option ($1). The one thing they improved on was the egg. Yolk was to the point of that orange-y jelly like consistency I like in ramen versus the boring well done. Ramen Burger - To me, it seems that they have gotten smaller. Still very tasty and still served with the tangy vinaigrette. Just...smaller..(scratches head). I really hope that they start to offer condiments or at least the staple ones at the table. Furoshiki was amazing! The prices were great, I got a ramen bowl for $11 and it was a huge bowl. I liked it because they had the typical meat based broths as well as a veggie broth for a vegetarian bowl which is what I got. The ramen was delicious, the cocktails were delicious, and the wait staff were super attentive and friendly. If you go on a weekend night it can be pretty busy, because it's a small restaurant be prepared to wait 5-20 minutes for a table on weekend nights. While I thought everything was great, I did go with a friend who is used to really authentic Asian food, and she said a few of the aspects of dish she got weren't exactly right, so just remember that they're an "Asian-inspired" restaurant and not a super traditional Asian restaurant, if that's what you're looking for. read more

Ordered the pork bone broth ramen to go, hoping to find good ramen in Rochester. Unfortunately, it was not good. The broth seemed very fatty (I couldn't even finish sipping it at the end, which I normally like to do). The noodles tasted cheap, like they came out of a package from the grocery store, and the ingredients didn't mesh well together. I also like spicy, so I paid extra for the Sriracha bomb on the side to add to it. Poured the whole thing in and it didn't make the dish any spicier. I had to add my own hot sauce at home! Came in around 8pm on a Saturday night. There was no need for a reservation which is rare on Park Ave on the weekends. Furoshiki is a small cozy restaurant with Japanese food but a modern American feel. The drink menu is extensive (even included good ole Genny products) and the food is great. Came here with my roommate on a Sunday for a very early dinner, wasn't sure what to expect since this isn't something that's part of my normal repertoire but was pretty happy with the experience. It was a decently warm day and we sat outside, I got a Red Dragon from the cocktail menu which was perfectly refreshing for a summer evening. We split the steak lettuce wraps which were a little hard to eat since the lettuce pieces were small and you couldn't really wrap them but, they were delicious. For my meal I got the Pork Bone ramen which was pretty good considering it's ramen. The bowls are huge there was no way I could have finished it. Having leftovers is always a bonus for me. There was no wait when we went; We both used a groupon and had stir fry! My boyfriend had the chicken, steak and shrimp stir fry with rice and I tried the chicken and steak with noodles! The food came out very quickly and our waitress was very kind. The portions were a little bit small for what you pay, but overall I loved the food and felt it was very tasteful. I've heard great things about this place and my experience did not disappoint! Went here for lunch with coworkers and every person was extremely satisfied. We shared the salt and pepper calamari and tempura fried green beans to start. Both came with a spicy aioli which was delicious. Have been several times at this point and have yet to be disappointed. It's like a warm hug in a bowl and just makes me and my belly happy. Miso base ramen is my favorite. Their kimchi is out of this world and typically I add ribs (perfectly tender and deliciously fall off the bone) or the shrimp also cooked to perfection. BF typically goes pork based with pork belly and is never disappointed. The noodles are fresh, delicious and cooked perfectly. The spice bomb is awesome if you want an extra kick and I've had with and without depending on my mood, have also gotten it on the side to moderate my level of extra kick. The warm house sake is the perfect temperature and also very good. As pretty much the only ramen place I have found so far in Rochester, the food is pretty good especially during Rochester's brisk winter. If you're looking for the more traditional ramen though, this place could be disappointing since it's definitely Americanized. I ordered the pork- bone broth ramen ($9.50 - doesn't come with meat) with the spice bomb (+$1) on the side and added pork belly (+$3.50). We also ordered a side of tempura fried green beans and brussel sprouts. The broth is pretty good, I would definitely suggest getting the spice bomb. The vegetables they used looked like some boiled lettuce, cabbage, and corn. The noodles were a good texture. The pork belly is amazing there! The tempura fried green beans and brussel sprouts were amazing too. They definitely know how to cook their sides. The service was alright. From the few times I've been there, they have excellent service and get everything right, but when it's even remotely crowded, they get extremely flustered. Our server was very nice, but didn't seem to know what was happening. We did have a table of six when the restaurant was pretty busy, but 4/6 of our orders were wrong the first time they tried to bring our food and we had to ask a few times for our spice bombs and added meats. If you're in the mood for some ramen, I would suggest to come to this place. Just know that if you come at a busy time to double check your food when it comes. Definitely go for the sides and apps (their pork belly buns are excellent). Their food is a little more on the pricey side, especially if you want some quality meat and to have your food spicy. The customer service is good and the kitchen is kind enough to split the ramen into two bowls if you're sharing. I'll admit, I anticipated a nice thick piece of pork belly but got shredded pork in the center instead. The broth was good but the noodles tasted cheap; like the inexpensive ones you can get at Wegmans. The staff was absolutely friendly and the restaurant was clean. Decor was relaxing and open. I feel if I didn't have much experience with ramen or if I simply wasn't a ramen snob, I likely would have enjoyed this more than I did. Just ate here last night and I have to say yay! Finally some very good food that I have eaten in Rochester since I have returned a couple of months ago. I came back from San Francisco. After 15 years in Northern CA, you get spoiled by the fresh and great foods, especially in San Francisco! Well Furoshiki didn't disappoint us, as so many other restaurants in the area have since I've been back. They use Sun Noodles, which are some of the best noodles in the business, barring home made noodles, which would drive up the prices anyway. The ramen, kale salad, and pork belly steam rolls were all delicious and well executed. I would have liked a little larger serving of the steam rolls though. We can't wait to go back and try more! My standard is the pork bone soup and some meat added, depending on my mood. Also, depending on my mood, I'll go with the spice bomb or not. I would encourage you to start with the pork belly buns.
