It's been a bit crazy figuring out how to order food from each restaurant during this pandemic as I normally don't order take out via an app. Thanks Yelp powered by Grubhub for making it easy to order the food and pay. Thanks Fuyu for having the food ready for pickup time I specified. It was so easy and plan to do it more. We ordered the chicken shio ramen, tonkotsu ramen and gyozas as an appetizer. Haven't had gyozas in a while so I couldn't resist and went over the $40 budget I set for myself. The 6 gyozas were good obviously its better when its hot. Tonkotsu is my go dish though the ramen needed to be separated since it got cool while walking home. Chicken shio is fried kaarage so how can you go wrong and the soup is lighter than the tonkotsu. Came here to load up on some electrolytes after rock climbing. I'm glad I ordered the iced yuzu mint drink because it was cold and fuzzy and really hit the spot. The food came out pretty quickly, but I think that is often the case at a ramen place. The hiyashi Chuka I ordered was refreshing, but I definitely preferred some of the ramen dishes that my friends let me taste. Overall, it was definitely cheaper and better than some places I've been to in Manhattan, but it wasn't the best ramen I've ever had and it still wasn't particularly cheap. read more

Yes, to seafood ramen, taco wasabi, vegetable bun, avocado salad, shishito pepper, and I'm sure everything I haven't ordered would be as good as all of these. The thing is that I was late to discover this place, but it's not my fault, my husband's fault LOL because we drove by a few times and he didn't stop, ha! It's a unique place with a quiet atmosphere. It's a clean place too. There's only one waitress for all the tables. They have a long high table to share or divide accordingly on the center floor, which is also suitable for a group. There're high seats by the glass windows and regular tables by the side. It's good to know there's a ramen place near us. We came back for the second time and will be back for more. We were there last Thursday for dinner and there was zero wait! The space was actually bigger and roomier than what we'd thought. We were greeted by the host and asked to see our vaccine cards before seating us. We took the long table out front near the entrance. They have quite an interesting menu. I was happy to see Ikezo Sparkling Jelly Sake so I went for that one. I ordered Tantanmen $14.5 (pork broth with spicy coconut curry). It was pretty great and I enjoyed it. My husband and our friends liked their meals, too. Highly recommended and I definitely want to go back and try something else on the menu. This place doesn't take reservations. I am a fan! For me, this is ranking higher than any other ramen shop in Western Queens. Convenient location, easy seating, quick service, tasty af, and affordable. All of my favorite qualifications! Both times I've come in on cool weekday evenings just wanting a quick bowl of ramen to fill my belly. Each time, they've satisfied me immensely and remind me why this is one of my all time favorite cuisines. Now, to be fair, I've ordered the chicken shio ramen both times and each time they haven't had chicken charshu. I'm not sure the reason why, but to me it doesn't matter since I order this one for the lighter broth and not so much because of meat restrictions or preferences. The first time, I was offered pork charshu as a substitute, which is what I craved anyway. The second time I was offered the chicken karage or pork charshu, but the pork was going to be an upgrade. Not a fan of the mixed messaging, but I went with the karage anyway since I hadn't tried it yet. Tasted great, but it naturally became too soggy in the ramen. We went here for dinner during the hurricane and while we were the only two people dining in, we still received awesome service! **Delivery Review** Saturday evening, put an order in through Uber Eats from this popular ramen spot. Was a little hesitant on delivered ramen, but figured to give it a shot considering the wealth of solid reviews. Decided on the Classic Tonkotsu Ramen ($16), and Veggie Gyoza ($8). Ramen is packaged in two parts - the veggies/noodles/pork/egg together and then the pork broth. Good idea to make sure the components don't get soggy, though the noodles became stiff after transport. Best to let the noodles sit in the broth for a while (after heating it up a bit). Loads of flavor in the broth that went well with the thin noodles. Pork is very fatty, while the egg is cooked perfectly. Gyoza are five to an order, well crisped exterior and packed with sautéed veggies. Decent with the soy sauce, probably would have preferred the meat ones instead. Was able to get my food within the delivery window and all items managed to stay in good shape during transport. This place is flying way below the radar, they definitely deserve more attention! Outdoor seating is very limited but the set up is open air with the requisite fairy lights (only three two tops). Our waitress was incredibly sweet and friendly. The appetizers are very affordable for the quality and portion size. Pork bao buns are $4.50, Tako Wasabi (raw octopus) $6, two tuna tacos $9, etc. Their pork gyoza were super tender with juicy meat, some of the best I've ever had. I thought the softshell crab and pork buns were good, but prefer a fattier pork. The tako wasabi was nice and tingly, I loved nibbling at it in-between bites of other things or sips of sake. Their poke is also some of the best I've had in Queens. It's not a customizable bowl, but you can get both tuna and salmon together. The bowl includes crispy quinoa, iceberg lettuce, red onion, cucumber, seaweed, scallions and sesame seeds. If you're hesitant about the quinoa and lettuce don't be, neither feature prominently and rice is still the main base, although I'm sure they could add more or leave out the rice if that's what you prefer. They also offered gochujang aioli, a first for me, and it was very good! They have a few other call outs to Korean cuisine on the menu (like bulgogi). The Champon (or seafood ramen) was very good. I loved that I could add a giant poached egg to make the broth even thicker, and that it combines both seafood and pork broth. I also added nori and they gave me a very generous four sheets. The mussels were large and cooked nicely, the only let down were the shrimp, which were small salad shrimp that did not hold their texture well in the broth. I also enjoyed the peach sake jelly shot - it comes in a can and tasted sparkly, like it was carbonated. You shake it vigorously and as you drink you get these effervescent jelly bits, this is such a great summer drink, I'd love these on a beach. Service was quick and friendly even though we all ordered 2-3 appetizers and a entre. Out of the appetizers I would recommend the buns, karaage, and potato salad. The buns were 3-6 dollars with generous portions. The karaage was deep-fried and extremely tasty. If you ordered one of the spicier entrees, I'd recommend saving the potato salad to eat with the entre. The creamy and cool potato salad paired perfectly with the hot and spicy ramen. I ordered the spicy miso ramen which came with ground beef, onion, a ramen egg, corn, cabbage, bean sprouts, and scallion. Out of everything in the bowl, the broth was the best part. So far one of the better Ramen spots that I have been to and here's why! The ramen noodles. They are the long stringy not curly ones. Which from my laymen's knowledge of ramen is the Hakata style. This is of course personal preference so if you like the curly noodles you may not enjoy these. They are also just snappy enough to give a nice bite. Think perfectly cooked al dente pasta. The pork They use unapologetically fatty pork cutlets. The flavors are a good profile but they are sliced thin as to not be annoying but thick enough for satisfaction. The Broth In SoCal where I originally grew up the broth tends to be on the saltier side. Here in the east coast, broth is a bit more subtle. Fuyu falls in between which for my tastes is spot on. Admittedly the first time I had the Classic Tonkatsu ramen the broth was a touch salty. But this second visit the broth was a bit more leveled off. The rest of the toppings. The egg was done right, which is the least of my expectations for any ramen place. They are generous with the green onions and mushrooms. It balances out nicely. Mind you my review is of The Classic Tonkatsu ramen only. Their menu is actually pretty large and varied so if you want ramen but your friend wants a burger, it will still work out. Generally I'm suspicious of places that do too much, like doughnut shops that also sell cellphones, so I can't really endorse the burger before trying it. But the option is there. Ended up ordering the Soft Shell Crab Bun and Tantanmen. Highly recommend both as the crab was light and crispy with a great aoili for a sauce. The Tantanmen was super flavorful and the broth was on the thicker side (which I prefer) and all the accompanied toppings were tasty as well. If you have room for the desert, I suggest trying the Yuzu Cheesecake (did not get a picture of). It was very light and not too sweet with a hint of Yuzu. read more

First of all, I'd like to start with giving the person who answered the phone when I placed my order a total FIVE STARS. She was so sweet and friendly, and you could almost hear her smiling over the phone which made me that much more excited about trying the food from here. I only live about 5 blocks away from this restaurant, so even though I know there are other orders to be delivered and not just mine, I still didn't think the wait would be very long. Let's fast forward to OVER AN HOUR from when I placed the order. My ramen gets here - I ordered the chicken shio without the chicken pieces (I tend to like that broth, but the chicken at most of these places is bland and rubbery so I didn't want to waste it, knowing I wouldn't eat it) and requested that they make the broth spicy for me. The noodles were so cold that they were basically just a slightly wet brick of ramen you'd get from a package. The egg was sitting for so long it was discoloring already. I couldn't pull apart the noodles to save my life. I thought pouring the broth in would help loosen the noodles - that was pretty much room temperature so did nothing AND it was spilling and made a mess when I took it out of the bag. BAD start to a takeout meal when you have to begin with cleaning. They didn't make the broth spicy or include any sauce or peppers for me to do so myself - which was fine, I could live with it. However, even though the actual taste seemed like it could have been amazing if the food was fresh and the noodles hadn't molded together, it was just so much work to try to pull the noodles out - it wasn't enjoyable. I had to reheat everything - and ramen honestly isn't something that ever tastes good reheated so it was just a waste in the end. The sad part is, I really could tell that I would have liked the food if it was delivered on time and in better condition. This new business in Sunnyside hits the spot for those craving ramen. Given we don't have a ramen spot nearby, this was a wonderful idea! This place offers a wide variety of ramen and appetizers including takoyaki which was delicious! It was crispy on the outside but very creamy inside and the sauce and mayo complimented the dish very well. We had 3 different ramen - spicy miso, shio ramen and vegetable ramen. The vegetable ramen was good except that it lacked veggies. I would've liked to see more vegetables in my ramen. I, of course, had to add additional spice which made it that much tastier! The spicy miso ramen was flavorful and had a nice spice that accumulated the more you had it. Lastly, shio ramen had a very clean yet rich, savory taste. How does this place not have 5 stars?! In my opinion, this is the best ramen in NYC. We've only gone during Covid and until now I never trusted to-go ramen. But they keep it packed so well and it's still piping hot when we get home 15 minutes later. The woman who owns this restaurant (at least I think she's the owner) is so considerate and friendly. I only eat veggie ramen and this one is top notch--all of the veggies work together without being overpowering and the spicy broth is the perfect balance of rich, not too salty, but not too heavy. Amazing! We were seated at a high top table in the front given water and lemons and offered tea. We ordered the shishito peppers and the croquettes as an appetizer. The position size was on the smaller side but that is reflected in the price point. For dinner I ordered the Spicy Miso Ramen with pork broth... OMG Delish! By the time I reached the bottom I was stuffed but I just couldn't stop eating it. Everything about the soup was spot on! Currently they are awaiting a liquor license and we were permitted to BYOB. It was too hot for ramen so I tried the soft shell crab bun and octopus balls (Takoyaki). Most places are suffering with takeout dining. NOT Fuyu! The crab was crispy yet lightly battled. The toppings were delicious and enhanced the crab taste. The balls were an umami bomb! Slightly crunchy exterior with that soft gooey interior. Delicious. I wanted another order right away. I'm a big fan of Fuyu since it opened in Sunnyside b/c I remember frequently complaining about how this neighborhood doesn't have delicious ramen. I consistently order the same delicious items: - Takoyaki: Hands down the best out of all the places I've tried in Queens - Baby ribs: Incredibly addicting with just the right amount of sweetness and "crispyness" - Classic Tonkotsu - Spicy Miso The best part is that Fuyu is always consistent and I cannot think of a time it hasn't been. The only thing that I've ordered that hasn't been as great as people have hyped it up to be is the poke bowl. I'm still searching for a place in Sunnyside and was hoping Fuyu's version was "it." Unfortunately, it's too heavily sauced with the dressing you choose and although the portion is fine for me, I would expect a slightly lower cost. If I ever order the poke bowl again, I would get the dressing on the side. read more
