And also the roasted salmon with smashed potatoes, and when I say, I never had anything that tasted quite as good. I mean that. Being a picky, and highly judgmental food critic that I am, I was waiting for something, just anything that did not agree with my pallet. However, I could not find anything wrong with my meal. FYR is Highly recommend. In the Columbus area this restaurant is crafting next level food. The ambience is outstanding and they did a great job in the presentation of the restaurant. The service was fabulous! The manager came by multiple times to just chat and check in and the executive chef did as well. Also of note, I constantly saw the manager and the chef going around to multiple tables which is a lost art. The food- outstanding! A few highlights have been the filet mignon, the duck the pickles and salmon ceviche. Highly recommend all these and more! We tried multiple other items and they were all outstanding! read more

We really enjoyed our dinner. Service was great. No complaints at all there. We had the empanadas, gnocchi, filet, skirt steak, roasted cauliflower, and the asparagus. We really enjoyed the gnocchi, cauliflower, asparagus and the filet. The skirt was a little too salty and tough but the flavor was still good. The empanada filling was great, but the pastry was just ok. The empanada sauce was slightly sweet but good. For drinks, we had the The Seeker and and Old Fashioned. I loved The Seeker. It was citrusy and refreshing. My husband liked the presentation of the old fashioned but he's had better...it was decent. It's a large place. The ambiance was great! With super high ceilings and the smell of the wood burning grill made us feel cozy. It was a bit pricey for the portions. All in all we really enjoyed our experience and would go back. read more

My husband and I ambled into FYR this morning for a hearty brunch, as we heard that the Hilton Downtown recently opened this restaurant and it has a breakfast buffet. It has tons of natural light and has a pleasant atmosphere. Seating felt a little bit awkward because the hostess asked everyone if they had a reservation, and the parties around us did not (and we didn't either). The hostess explained that if we make reservations, they'll have place settings ready and waiting for you, which makes sense but it also doesn't really seem practical if your hotel restaurant is also clearly catering to walk-in diners who aren't staying at the hotel. The adjacent convention center is also hosting Galaxycon this weekend, so they probably had more diners than usual. But I digress. We had a brief wait and were seated. It did take several moments and a few trips for a waitress to come and give us water glasses, fill said glasses, provide the coffee, and take my order for a made-to-order omelette. She was perfectly professional, but the overall restaurant operations felt like they are still working out the kinks. Once our order was settled, we hit the buffet. It had your standard fare--sausage, bacon, potatoes, pancakes, pastries, cereal, etc. They also had some charcuterie options, including smoked salmon that I was delighted to eat. I also eat Gluten Free and I would have liked to have had some options among the breads, but I also understand why it is impractical to keep both gluten and GF breads close together on a buffet line because cross-contamination (and subsequent complaints) are a risk. The stand-outs: Smoked salmon, breakfast potatoes, sausage patties, my MTO omelette The not so good: Cheddar grits (way under-seasoned), scrambled eggs (hubs had them and I didn't, but he did *not* like them), bacon was unimpressive and thin Everything else was pretty good. First time going here and the experience was great from start to finish. We were greeted by a friendly person at the front who then took us to our table and gave us a rundown of the head chef and concept. Our waitress, Shannon, was awesome and gave us some recommendations (try the carrots!) . My girlfriend got the salmon (she said it was amazing) and I got the lamb shank that I would have loved to pick up and gnaw on, but I refrained. The Head Chef, who's actually from Argentina, also came over to chat with us a bit and tell us more about himself and the restaurant. Was walking towards a different restaurant but saw how busy FYR was so decided to grab dinner at the bar-- and was not disappointed! First and foremost, bartenders were next level talented. Although they had just opened, it was clear that Mike and Nate have been in the service industry for quite some time. They were professionals and so knowledgeable about the menu. Offered fantastic suggestions. I ordered the empanadas (yes), salmon ceviche (yes), and creamy potatoes (yes). Dessert - I had the flan. It was great! Going to try the pineapple upside down cake next. I really wanted to love this place. I appreciate the Argentinian inspired menu and the ambiance is great but the service and food preparation were poor. We ordered the empanadas and Cesar salad to start both of which were good but my wife and I have a pet peeve about having to cut lettuce in a salad. We had the old fashion and chef de tornade to drink both were unbalanced and needed to be stirred a bit more. After we gave them an good stir they tasted better. For the main we ordered the filet mignon with the cheesy potato fondue and the gnocchi on the side. The filet was cooked how requested but was on top of a cold sauce and cold grilled onions which was not pleasant. We sent it back and received a new entere with all ingredients at the proper temperature. It's a 80 dollar entre so expectations were high but Fyr failed to deliver. The cheesy potato fondue was cold so we sent it back also. The second time it was also cold so we didn't get to enjoy them at all. The gnocchi was at a proper temperature but was very greasy. This usually happens when a cheese based sauce is cooled down and then warmed back up. The flavor was good but it was dripping in grease. To finish we split the flan which was very small but really delicious The food prep was mid at best. Usually service makes up for this but this was not the case. The waitress was inattentive and looked busy chatting with coworkers instead of taking care of the customers. We asked for a bottle of water and had to remind the waitress toward the end of the meal cause she infrequently came to the table. Having to send back the main entre and a side twice is pretty unreasonable for this expensive of a restaurant. The manager should have offered to comp a round of drinks or the dessert but we were not even given an apology. Super overrated. Will not be back. Do not recommend. read more

Pre new years eve dinner. Ok. Lets be real honest here. The place under performed for me. I arrived hoping it would be a 5 star experience. The service was excellent our server was very knowledgeable. She Treated us like we were the most important people there. She knew the entire menu she told us what we might not want and she was dead on. However, the food wasn't memorable at all. The flank steak was cooked good but I didn't get the open fire flavor that I was hoping to get. Please understand when you come here All sides are separate. It's à la carte and they do have meals that are set up to be shared which is okay but that's not what we got. The music was very loud for me and if you ever read any of my post I don't really want to be around loud music and it was a lot of hip hop and that's not what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is. I made reservations and we were seated back in the back but the very back and I asked not to be seated by a door but that's where we were seated during the dinner. The chef came out and greeted all the tables but he never came to ours. He came to everyone else's table around ours but never stopped at ours. The salmon was good It wasn't memorable but it was good. The ambiance of this facility is incredible and I started out with 3 stars just for that. However, we didn't really get to experience because we were seated back in the corner. The place was not full. In closing is this a place I would bring a friend from out of town. No! Not worth the time you spend for parking or the price you pay. However if you are in town and staying at the hotel you might enjoy it for drinks or just the atmosphere. read more

Came in Friday 10/21/22 with a party of twelve, Shannon was our server and we were sat by the bay at a very nice long table. The ambient was amazing, Shannon did a great job as a server but was overwhelmed as she had so many tables. The portions are extremely small. We ordered the ceviche which was decent but wasn't enough for even one person, than I ordered 3 bone marrows which was good, than we ordered 2 NY strips and a tomahawk. All the steak was room temperature very disappointed all the mixed drinks was terrible so we just stuck to Manhattan for the rest of the evening. Had an 1100$ tab and was the most disappointing visit to a restaurant. Had I went to Wendy's drive through I would of had better food. The food and service at FYR was impeccable! The host stand offers a complimentary coat check, and they offer free parking in the Hilton garages for dining with them. Our server was very attentive, gave great recommendations, and everything came out in a timely manner. The prices were not outrageous and it was a great meal to split lots of small plates with someone. We loves the mushroom flatbread and the broccoli I was a surprisingly delicious side. Really cool spot in the short north! The waitress told us this is the first open fire restaurant in Columbus. The decor inside was really nice and open concept so the place felt huge! Cocktails were delicious! We had some really great dishes like the empanadas, scallops, salmon ceviche, potatoes. The vegetables that we got left a little to be desired in my opinion. I liked the smoked/charred flavor, but the sauces didn't add much flavor. However, the gnocchi soufflé was a super star dish and made for a great dipping sauce once you ate all the gnocchi! What a stunning restaurant. The place itself and the food were gorgeous and made my friends and I feel like we were experiencing something special. We actually accidentally ended up here for my friend's birthday, thinking we were booking the rooftop bar but it was a pleasant mistake. Incredible dining experience. We had visited Stories on High and did not realize there was a restaurant on the bottom floor. The restaurant itself is sunken giving you a unique view of High St. The chef is Argentine and you will see this sprinkled among the dishes. It's a neat spot, but I feel like it's over-rated based on prior reviews. We ordered some of the dishes noted in reviews. The oven roasted tomato was a disappointment. The salmon ceviche was very good. The whole fish ( branzino) was good as was the duck. But overall not worth prior praise and prices. The space is nice but quite cheesy (although not out of step with central Ohio cheesiness unfortunately). The high end drink menu (for bachelor parties?) is cringy. The beetroot salad had one- two pieces of beetroot and dowsed with dressing. The filet was not good at all. The beautiful new restaurant inside the Hilton is incredible. We went with a bigger group and we all loved the decor, staff and the food. The menu is very eclectic and reflective of the chef's diverse background. We tried several items that I hadn't had before and really enjoyed them. The kitchen is visible and was extremely impressive. The staff was eager to help and provided great service.
