This is a gem in Cliffside! We walked in because the business next door was closed. This was not like anything I've had in the area! The Poachas (not sure of the spelling) are the best I've had in other places and the nice lady there told us, they are from Turkey. Very different from the ones made here and now I'm obsessed! I went to this cafe yesterday for the first time and I enjoyed it so much that I took my whole family back today. The best baklava we have ever tasted, and so different from any we have ever tried. There were so many delicious options on baklava, Turkish Delights, and candies. We loved the Turkish Tres Leches Cake, Turkish coffee and coffee as well. I come in here very often and have tried just about everything and I always opt to try anything new they have. We eat in and then I get lots of baklava, pistachios, and jams to go. The older woman is a gem and always the absolute sweetest. I had an off putting experience with the younger woman the last time I went. Because of a nut allergy, I bought a banana pudding and milkshake from another shop (didn't want to risk cross contamination by getting a non nut item ,in a place that also sells nuts) so that my child doesn't have to just watch all the other kids eat. As I was opening it, the lady came over and said i can't have it in the store. I understand if people come in and buy barely anything and eat outside stuff, but come on, I just bought a massive amount of desserts and drinks for 12 people and you're worried about a small thing for a kid. I asked my kid to stand outside and have it, which made her feel like it was a punishment. Luckily her cousins joined her in standing outside and it made an otherwise tacky experience an ok one. This is a wonderful little bakery in Cliffside Park! They have beautiful and delicious mini cakes that are great for special occasions or a "single sized" dessert. My favorite is the chocolate blackberry, but the cheesecake is delicious too. I have purchased these cakes and given them as gifts to friends. The staff was also friendly and knowledgable about the cakes. I have not tried their baklava or other Turkish items because I keep wanting to try different flavors of their cakes. read more

Pretty good brunch spot here with a some what limited menu, though this place actually seems to be more of a dessert/ bakery shop for pick up. That being said the decor is nice and comfy, though some of the staff members aren't exactly welcoming. I wanted to give this place a 4/5 but had to settle for a 3/5 because of the food taste. The space and food are pretty clean and the price is reasonable but it simply lacks flavor. And going there before noon I came in thinking I'd have a fresh batch (usually best quality and flavors) but ended up with a bland pastry. Now I know su isn't the most complex dish so I expected more because I've had better in smaller restaurants, much better actually. The tea wasn't great either, I got all the caffeine of black tea with half the flavor. Somehow this watered down tea still woke me up so its not that bad. All in all I wouldn't recommend this place for a brunch sit down, but apparently they have good baklava so do try that to go. read more

Of Course Su Boregi and Simit. Delicious as you can eat with same taste as in Turkey. So the people who live close by are so lucky. The staff is nice and welcoming too. As we are Turkish we love Turkish tea with whatever we have so as soon as the glasses were empty the server was taking care of it which is really nice. Highly recommended. I went in looking at all the good reviews . Ordered some special pistachio baklava and a small chocolate pistachio cake. Baklava was decent (3/5) but the cake tasted stale (2/5) . The prices are on the higher side for the neighborhood. Each piece of baklava is 2.50$ and a small cake was 6.50$. Also it was just freezing cold in the restaurant so we decided to sit outside. read more

I was feeling greedy when I saw this bakery from across the street, so I had to go in and try some of their baklava. Oh the honey was so sweet and just perfect! I grabbed a borek also, the last one as someone had just come in and bought out all the rest of the borek! It must be good. After driving by this new place a few times, the bf and I decided to take a walk over there after dinner to check it out and pick up some baklava. Upon entering, I was impressed with the decor and different variety of baklava - tempting enough to sit down. However, upon a less than friendly exchange with the cashier, we decided to just stick with the original plan and takeout. We got 2 of the pistachio and 2 of the cream baklava. I initially enjoyed the cream baklava, but was disgusted to find a white hair in it. Ick. After getting over the disgust, ate the pistachio one to find it to be dry. All in all, probably will never go back. First impressions make or break an experience for me and finding a hair in food is a big no-no. read more

**This is strictly a baklava review. The first time I had their delicious baklava morsels was at their BK location. Can you guess my excitement when I found out they were also located in Cliffside Park, NJ?! They are literally a 2 minute drive from me and for the past while my boyfriend and I were making trips to Gulluoglu once a week: making the average monthly baklava bill around $80. After realizing how much we were spending a month, we made a decision to limit our trips there two twice a month. It's very hard to not have their baklava on top of mind because it's just sooooooo delicious. I will say however, their customer service could be slightly better. read more

I agree with many of the reviews where they stated that baklava was decent and the cake was stale. I was born in Turkey and have been living in US over 20 years now. I went to Gulluoglu today while visiting the area and asked specifically whether the cake was fresh or not. I was told that they were freshly baked and I ordered a chocolate cake with chestnuts in it as this type of cake was one of my childhood favorites. We also got some cake pops and a pound of baklava with pistachio. I literally was happy like a kid while driving home and joked to my wife and two daughters that they are not allowed to touch my cake as I planned on finishing it myself after dinner. All this anticipation ended up with a big disappointment. The cake was incredibly dry and stale. I live almost an hour away from this bakery and we have been shopping there sporadically for almost 10 years now. Even though we might have had similar issues from time to time previously, this time was a deal breaker for me as I am really upset at the fact that I was blatantly lied to. I don't see myself shopping there again. I really hope that this comment can help facilitate the business owner to take necessary precautions from this incident happening again as I genuinely think that a bakery that sells stale products to their clients cannot sustain their business much longer... read more

Well, I personally LOVE THIS PLACE, if you looking for quite, nice and friendly environment to have breakfast with amazing TURKISH tea, which i can't get enough of, ( i literally drink 5 cups when i am there ) i recommend Gulluoglu. Usually when i am there, i get of course Turkish tea and panini with sujuk, tomatoes, pickles, and cheese! Delicious! Last time i tried meat pie which was actually very good, and after that i got something sweet, thanks to a useful tip from a yelper about Pistachio and chocolate kind of cake. I can't describe the texture of this chocolate cake, it was so heavenly, light and smooth and whipped, yes it was whipped that was the best part! So thanks to Taiyyab Z. i tried this amazing cake. Also, inside of the cake they had pistachios covered in chocolate. Atmosphere is this place is very nice, with nice tables and chairs, and in the back of the room they have fireplace with a mirror, they always have clean bathrooms. This place is not big, i think they have about 6-7 tables. So, when you in town don't check it out. read more

I have been to this place countless times. I must say I have also been to the original "cafe" when I visited Istanbul a few years back. Now it will be unfair to compare the two.
