Taking a moment to commend Justin for the outstanding service he has consistently provided. He has been to our home several times over the years for different appliance repairs, and every experience has been excellent. Justin is always courteous, respectful, and professional. He takes the time to carefully diagnose the problem and explain not only what needs to be repaired, but also the mechanics behind it, which I really appreciate. During his most recent visit to make a minor repair on our beverage refrigerator, I mentioned that our basement freezer had previously been making a noise that sounded like a fan hitting something. After I told him that the freezer door was a jar a couple of times, he explained that the noise was most likely caused by ice buildup and, since the sound had already stopped, the defrost mechanism did what it was supposed to do and there was no longer an issue. Rather than charging us an additional diagnostic fee to inspect a freezer that didn't need service, he honestly told us there was no reason to look at it. That kind of integrity is rare. Justin could have easily recommended an unnecessary service call, but instead he saved us both time and money. It's refreshing to work with a technician whose priority is doing what's right for the customer rather than simply adding another charge. G&R Appliance is fortunate to have someone like Justin representing the company. His professionalism, technical knowledge, and honesty have earned our trust, and we won't hesitate to recommend both Justin and G&R Appliance to others. read more

Call for a leaking washing machine. Was told at the beginning of the call they will came and assess the issue and the cost was $135. Then they had to come back and fix the problem it would be $60 to install part and the cost of the part. They came 10 mins $135 and when they came back to install maybe 15 mins part was $120 So to fix it was $315 plus tax. I thought the service call to assess the issue was a little high in price, literally 10 mins and not applied to the install of the parts no they charge another $60. I called them to repair a dishwasher June 2024. Tech showed up for $135, took the dishwasher apart, said he needed another part, left stating he would get back to us in 3 days. We never heard back and could not reassemble the appliance and had to purchase a new one. I called the company and they offered "free diagnostic on next call". I told them that was not acceptable. I didn't hear back from them. I called them after 4 months of silence and they said they would refund the $135 if I provide a receipt from an attempt on a second repair. This makes no sense. This company has been awful to deal with. Wires behind my stove were melted because the company I purchased it from put the power cord on wrong. As if that weren't scary and frustrating enough, thanks to G&R, I was without a stove for ONE WHOLE MONTH! They called and scheduled an appointment with me for between 9am and 1pm. At 10:30am, they called to cancel because the tech was "sick". I rescheduled for another day. They came and said they had to order parts so couldn't fix anything until then. I never received a call... I then called to ask when the parts would be in and woman on the phone told me and then scheduled an appointment for between 9am and 1pm. Well, the just DIDNT SHOW UP! I wasted my whole morning waiting and they didn't show up. I called and complained and the man was so rude and told me I definitely didn't talk to anyone and never scheduled an appointment. I also NEVER received an apology for all their missed appointments and terrible attitudesAfter an entire day of calling them and speaking to many different people and trying to get my stove fixed, they "were too busy to fit me in" so I waited even longer. They also said they wouldn't charge me for the power cord I needed since they inconvenienced me so much. They FINALLY fixed my stove and STILL charged me. They're rude to deal with and obviously not reliable. They were absolutely terrible. Update: the owner has now privately messaged me telling me this review is unfair and I should be blaming the company that installed the stove. Of course I'm beyond frustrated with that company and I stated that in the original review, but this review is solely about how unprofessional G&R was to deal with. The owner said in the message that he had to send a tech to my house which was 45 minutes away and then send the tech back out to actually fix it when the parts came in and i should be grateful they didn't charge me for their time... ummmm, I'm sorry, but when the owner opened this business, he agreed to do that. The company I bought the stove from outsourced my job to G&R. So clearly G&R agreed to those terms so they can't be mad at me that my house is 45 minutes from them. They're also clearly getting paid by the company that outsourced the job to them which is why I didn't get charged because I had a warranty and coverage. It's a bit ridiculous that the owner is still giving me attitude and acting as if his company did nothing wrong by canceling one appointment, not showing up for another one and being terribly rude and disrespectful on top of it. This just shows how unprofessional they truly are. Getting a poor review should warrant an apology or a plead to right their wrong, but instead the owner is still trying to defend himself. This is my final entry on this. There were two problems with the dishdrawer...one was a bad pump in the lower drawer. The repair guy (the good one) ordered the part. It was delivered a little late, as one might expect in times like these. But there was no problem getting in touch with Fisher Paykel to order or track it. Funny how G&R couldn't seem to get them to even answer the phone. Maybe they have caller ID and are screening out G&R's calls. Either that or they weren't being honest with me. What an unbelievably horrible experience. GE had schedule this company to come see me and had accidentally scheduled it for Labor Day. So soon after Chrissy (it could a different name it's hard to understand) called me on 8/31 to tell me they rescheduled me for yesterday instead. I called back on 9/3 to ask if I could have 2:30-5 instead of 1-5 and the man I spoke with said that wasn't a problem because they'd be working out towards my area anyways. Fast forward to yesterday when I left work early and no one ever showed up. Today when I called them the originally lady then tells me that "they don't service my area so cancelled the appointment". So why did TWO different people (including her) confirm this appointment with me and why did no one call. From the first call, they made me feel like I was the most important customer they had on their schedule. These guys took months to get the part to fix my washer. Once the part came in the tech failed to bring the part to fthe repair visit. This was the 3 day I took off work to accommodate this appointment. I totally flipped on the receptionist and of course she did not like that much. But hey one person can only take so much crap from one company. They also had an invoice to fix my dryer which I did not schedule. I finally reached out to the Lowe's CEO and was given wonderful Customer Service and they ended up replacing my washer. Since I had the extended warranty. I beg them to look into the customer service rating on these guys. They are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I will never allow them in my house again. Consider yourselves warned. George you are a funny guy. Once again pushing it back in the customers lap. It's never your fault right. Someone should not have to wait months for parts or have a repair guy not show up with the part after I called the day Before to double check it was all set. Not impressed, and not the place to call if you are hoping for repairs within a couple of days though they do come straight out to take your money but don't actually fix anything. I did get a service call within 24 hours and I was charged $75 for the 5 minute service call just to tell me what part was broken. I was supposed to receive a price quote on the part the next day and schedule a repair. I never got a call that day or any other day and it has not been repaired. A waste of money, and worse a waste of time that could have been used to call someone who would have actually done the repairs by now instead of waiting for G&R who just takes the money and runs. Also it is strange they show a different address here then other website listings even though they all have the same phone number. I can't review the actual repairs, because I could not have any done. Many weeks ago, I used their website to ask for a quote... never got a response. I used the email address they provided to send them an email and that was never answered either. I left a detailed message, over 3 weeks ago, and asked for a call back about 2 repairs I was interested in, because I had free time that week. NEVER was my call returned. I also found that I got a busy signal most times I tried to call them back. I was already kind of burnt on them after all of this disinterest in my business. Don't have a website contact form if you won't respond to contact, and don't provide email if you won't answer it. And, if you flat out don't touch *appliances* of a certain type, put that on your website, too. They fix microwaves and ovens, so why wouldn't I think that toaster ovens and breadmakers would be acceptable, too? I guess this is why they never bothered to answer my contact. Finally, I called the other morning, and got a snippy person who informed me that they do not fix toaster ovens or bread makers, and that my oven repair(which I had already researched thoroughly, and found that it was a common problem with a quite minor fix that did NOT involve replacing the whole control panel-just soldering a $2 solenoid). She interrupted me to say that it was a HUGE repair for 2 men and would cost *hundreds* of dollars(emphasis hers), without my even telling her in detail what the problem was. I felt like I was being upsold or that they were discouraging my business, without any real contact with the company and certainly without them seeing my appliance. I can't say how great and responsive G & R is. From Don & Kim that answer the phone to the repair person (George) that came out. I called on Monday morning in fear that our frig was going! It was 90 plus degrees and we were leaving the next day, not to be back for a month! Thank goodness it was nothing serious with the frig and while he was there I had him look at our dryer which is fixed as well. Before I was given G&R's number by a friend I had called 3 other places that I googled. One place could not come out for at least a week, one place called that afternoon saying they could come out the next day. The 3rd place never even called me back. I don't have a lot of experience with appliance repair people, but I would hope for better follow up service than I experienced with G&R repair. First of all, I'm not really a fan of a place that you have to go through a finding service to find. I was not able to contact them directly at first, but it seems that this is the case with a lot of these companies. For me, it makes me feel like I'm getting a little scammed. Anyway, I didn't have any problems with the actual appointment or the service man. I had them come in to take a look at my washer and dryer. While the man said that he was able to fix the dryer on site, he said he would need to order a part for the washer and would contact me when it was in. I had to pay for the look at the washer and the fix of the dryer at that time. However, I have never heard back from them. Also, after they left, I tried out my what was supposed to be fixed dryer, and it still isn't fixed completely. So with no follow up, and already spending a fair amount of money to have them just take a look at the machines, I've decided to go to a different service to get the problems resolved completely. read more

Our Dishwasher stopped working. After I called my warranty company to verify the appliance was no longer covered, they recommended G & R. The staff was very helpful. The tech arrived on time and found the problem. A day later the office called with a quote for the part which had to be ordered. The guaranteed price was fair and the new part installed, three days later. They arrive when they say they will, didn't leave our place a mess and were very pleasant to work with. I had a loud and leaky refrigerator, sears kept telling me to have it replaced for a large amount of money, the guys at G & R made me feel at home as if calling a relative to come help, they treated me like family and helped replace all the right parts for a very low affordable price! Here is my experience.... I originally thought their pricing was high but some costs the company incurs, particulary for parts, is not completely in their control. Unlike other reviewers comments, at least in my case, they were very communicative and answered all my questions. In my case, needing a fridge compressor, it was cost prohibitive to have the repair done. This is likely often the case if you purchased an inexpensive fridge for 500-700 dollars. In that case, unfortunately, it may make more sense to buy a new fridge. Otherwise, moving forward, g+r appliance has given me the confidence to call them in the future for appliance repair. read more

Let me start by saying THERE FIRST REVIEW OF THIS BUSINESS WAS THE OWNER Pathetic! when I originally purchased my used washer and dryer set for $450 they said both of the units were only about three years old and they gave me a discount because they did not have a "matching pair" I was happy for about seven months into it the dryer started making a weird noise I didn't think anything of it but I stopped in and spoke to the gentleman that delivered my washer and dryer and he said if it stops working for any reason just give us a call and we can take a look at it so I dealt with it the noise would come and go no big deal. It worked about 4 more months with the noise and then died so my wife and I decided that we were going to go buy a brand-new set from Sears so I went into GnR and spoke to them about the old set and asked what I wanted to do I said it would be great if you have a portable dishwasher that you'd be willing to do some sort of a trade he said no problem and they would call me on Friday. That call never happened! 3 1/2 weeks later I called them and they said they would send somebody out to take a look at it and make me an offer on the dryer as at this time I found somebody to donate the washer machine to. Keep in mind I would've been happy with a measly $30 offer as the unit didn't work correctly 60% of the time I owned it and they will just fix it and re sell it. The guy they sent out to my house told me the washer is "way way to old" and it's worthless to them but said they would take it "off my hands" if I wanted them too basically so he could part it out (How nice of him) I explained to him but I've only owned it for a year how was it way too old his facial expression was priceless. He stood there a second with a blank stare and his response was I don't know what to tell you. I am not saying not to go there because it is your money but all I am saying is spend a few extra dollars and buy a new set that comes with a real warranty because these guys won't stand behind what they sell! People like this really make small businesses have a bad name. Ps. When I told the gentleman that was at my house that I was going to write a review and explain how I felt about this interaction his words to me were again I don't know what to tell you so here it is! The fact that you are trying to justify the fact that you did not respond to several messages and I have awaited your phone call is comical, then you try to call me out saying that my post is bogus yet others have said the same thing about your lack of communication & follow through when it comes to standing behind your product. Don't bother with this company, they are awful. They seem very nice on the phone, and the repair techs also are very nice and friendly, however, the work is not up to par, nor is the customer service end of things here. After spending almost $300 to fix my fridge with G and R, they finally tell me that it's not the problem they thought it was, it would need a new compressor, which would be at least another $300! So I should spend $600 to fix my 10 year old fridge. Yeah, ok. Then they said they would remove my old fridge, due to their incompetence, that took another month. Every week the truck would not show up. I'd wait and wait. Finally I'd call, asking where the truck is, and each week there would be a new excuse as to why they weren't going to come today afterall. They get no stars from me cancelled multiple times I missed a total of 4 days off work as they cancelled 3 times on me after I waited for 4 hours each time and took over a month to order ice maker for refrigerator and still doesn't work. This company has very poor customer service. They were sent by Lowe's to fix a dryer at a vacation home. They were suppose to call the night before to give me a window. No call. That morning I get a call saying they were there. Let them know it would take me about a half hour I don't live there. So they decided to come back in that afternoon. 2nd visit called & said they had a customer before & would head over. So I headed there & 20 minutes into my ride I get a call saying he is there. Said I was on my way. When I got there he was gone. Tried calling didn't answer my call, texted asking if he was coming back & he said no. Reminder I did not live there. Let a couple people know this when setting up the appointment & when I received the first call. My neighbor said I just missed him. He would of known where I was if he had called me before he left. His name was Joe. Called Lowe's & they gave me another company called Ryan's Appliance 410-710-7096 couldn't of been nicer. Called when they were on their way. This was definitely the worst service we have ever experienced. We were given G&R Appliance to service our appliances through Lowe's, the appliances are only about 5 years old. We wanted our Whirlpool Microwave, Dishwasher, and Refrigerator looked at for various issues. They don't just charge by visit it is per appliance even though nothing was even fixed. We were charged $120 and on top of that giving us false information on our dishwasher. We specifically saved the "Friction Pad" that we noticed broke off the dishwasher to show someone when they came to look. He insisted and continued to argue that it was not part of the dishwasher and does not belong there, we got explanations of "it was part of packaging", "it is from your plumbing", "your dishwasher would not close if it had that piece on it", etc. If you have hired Whirlpool experts servicing appliances you should make sure they know their products. They tried to tell us we needed new springs for the dishwasher when after a quick 5 minute search on the internet all we need is a $6 Friction Pad to be replaced. Too bad he had already left by the time it was found. Our Microwave was not heating up food and still has not been fixed and they were only here for 35 minutes at most and we wasted $120. I called to speak with a manager regarding the unprofessionalism of this business, they said they would order the springs and parts to repair and give us a price on repairing. We still have not heard back from them at all as far as price and when they can repair. This was almost a month ago! We will never use G&R Appliance again!! I had them out to work on a refrigerator that had stopped working. The technician asked whether it was under warranty. I said yes and then he recommended replacement of a major circuit board of some sort. Luckily, the fridge started working again after he left, and it has since worked for years after without replacing those parts. However, on the same visit, I also asked the technician to have a quick look at my range hood. My wife had damaged it by dropping a pot on it, and I couldn't figure out how to get into it to see what had happened. He did a great job of diagnosing the problem, figuring out that I just needed to replace a fuse. He didn't have one on him, but I said not to worry, that I would be able to get one from Radio Shack and should be able to get the hood back together after. He charged me $75 for the 5 min work and left. I went to RS, got the fuse, installed it, and all seemed fine. However, when trying to put the hood back together, I realized that I was missing a part of the assembly. I called the technician, and he confirmed that he had accidentally taken it with him. He said that he'd bring it when he came back to fix the fridge, but I said that it was already working again, and so I wasn't sure that I wanted to do the recommended repair right away. He said he'd drop it by the house in a few days. He never did. I called him again to remind him. I texted him. Over the past couple of years, I have called and/or texted him probably a dozen times. Sometimes he responds with "I'll have it to your right away." Sometimes nothing. A few months ago, I called the main office to complain. They said they would look into it. Nothing. Without this tiny piece of plastic, I can get the hood to work, but I have no way to increase the fan speed, and so it gets stuck on low. Every few months my wife get tired of grease everywhere and demands a new hood. I resist because I know that I can fix this problem with a small piece of plastic, rather than buying a new one. I think the current hood cost around $800, and my wife is now becoming quite adamant that I have to get a new one. So, due to the irresponsibility and laziness of this particular G&R tech, and the lack of overall accountability by G&R, I am likely out something like $800. read more
